Magiki
[Visit Reason] I have always been curious about the Chinese restaurant that catches my eye as soon as I exit the west exit of Yoyogi Station, so I decided to visit while I had some business in Yoyogi.
[Order Details]
- Kari Rousu Teishoku (Beef with curry sauce set meal)
- Gyoza (dumplings)
- Yun Bai Rou (Cloud White Meat)
[Impressions] The female staff member (likely from a foreign country) was unfriendly in her service. But that's okay (^ー^) I understand that she may be busy, but the way she noisily and haphazardly placed the dishes on the table was a bit chaotic. It felt like a typical Chinese restaurant experience, which was amusing. In my experience, Chinese restaurants with unfriendly foreign female staff tend to be delicious, so my expectations were raised without reason... I was especially looking forward to the "Cloud White Meat." It was recommended on the outdoor sign and even had a tagline like "our specialty," so my expectations were even higher.
However, the "Cloud White Meat"... Hmm... I could eat it, but to be honest, it was at a level that could easily be replicated at home. Actually, it might even be tastier if made at home... It felt like cheap pork shabu-shabu meat quickly boiled, and the vegetables seemed wilted. The sauce had a slightly unique flavor, but it wasn't delicious. I wonder why they added the tagline "our specialty"... Honestly, I couldn't help but think that the name "Cloud White Meat" was a bit questionable... It cost 800 yen per plate. It might be a portion meant to be shared among multiple people, but considering the taste, it felt "quite expensive." Some might say "don't expect too much from a typical Chinese restaurant dish"... but I think typical Chinese restaurant dishes have a taste that is hard to replicate at home... That's why we sometimes crave them, right? If it could be easily replicated at home, I wouldn't go out to eat it... Convenience is also a key point... Well... I've expressed my personal views on various things, but other than the Cloud White Meat, the other dishes were delicious. In particular, the Kari Rousu Teishoku (950 yen) had a good volume and was very satisfying to eat. It felt like a good deal, and the crunchy texture of the onions was nice. I couldn't believe the price difference of just 150 yen between the Kari Rousu Teishoku and the Cloud White Meat. It made me think, "I see...," and I reflected on various things. Thank you for the meal.
