I had the Luro rice set meal for 1,100 yen, but due to the 1st anniversary special, I got it for only 550 yen. The taste was mild and easy to eat, with the sweetness of the Luro being the main flavor. On the other hand, the boiled egg, 3 side dishes, and soup had a strong authentic taste, which I personally found delicious. The sesame oil and coriander flavor of the eggplant gave it a homely Chinese dish feel. I visited during lunchtime, but it was more relaxed compared to my previous visit, although it was still quite busy. The air conditioning wasn't great, but with the weather cooling down, it shouldn't be a problem in the future.

The Pai Ku rice set meal for 1200 yen was authentic with the unique spices and sweet aroma typical of Taiwanese cuisine. The flavor of Pai Ku was particularly strong, resembling the taste of a street stall in Taiwan. Personally, I find it delicious when it closely resembles the authentic taste, so I welcomed it. However, some may not enjoy it as much compared to casual Japanese-style Taiwanese cuisine. The portion size was served on a tray, with the overall serving being on the smaller side. However, the Pai Ku itself was overflowing from the bowl, making this menu stand out in terms of portion size. There were also three small side dishes, so finishing everything provided a satisfying volume of food. I visited during a late lunch and the restaurant was full and bustling. There was a lot of traffic from takeout delivery drivers, creating a noisy atmosphere contrary to the appearance of the restaurant. The interior was stylish but the air conditioning was not very effective, making it feel stuffy and almost as hot as outdoors during the summer. The service was handled by one person in the dining area and one in the kitchen, both appearing busy. Despite this, the service was friendly and hospitable, with the staff providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Additionally, water was self-service.

I wanted to try something different, so I ordered the Pike Rice. At first glance, it looks a bit like a pork cutlet bowl, but the coating is slightly spicy and tastes like fried chicken, surprisingly delicious. I think this dish could be more popular than the Taiwanese-style Lu Rou Fan.

Located in a residential area a 8-minute walk from Shimokitazawa Station and a 10-minute walk from Sasazuka Station, is the Taiwanese restaurant "Maomi". The name Maomi means "cat" in Chinese. The owner, who is from Taiwan and loves cats, opened this charming restaurant. The interior, with a light green color scheme, resembles a cute café while also giving off the vibe of a local alleyway eatery. Mini cat figures are placed throughout the restaurant, adding to the charm. The menu offers dishes such as Lu Rou Fan (minced pork rice), Ji Rou Fan (chicken rice), and Dao Xiao Mian (sliced beef noodles), but I couldn't resist trying the "Pai Gu Fan Set". The pork ribs are prepared differently from tonkatsu, marinated with soy sauce, sugar, salt, pepper, and garlic before being fried. The crispy texture and juicy pork meat are delightful. The sauce from making the Lu Rou is drizzled between the pork ribs and rice, adding to the flavor. The side dishes include squid and cucumber namul, kelp simmered in broth, and a gentle beef bone soup. Both my heart and stomach were satisfied! Thank you for the delicious meal.

This retro Taiwanese restaurant that opened in September last year gives off a delicious vibe from its appearance. They offer a set meal of minced pork cooked in Chinese spices called Lu Rou Fan for 1100 yen, as well as a steamed chicken rice dish called Ji Rou Fan for the same price. They also serve desserts like tofu pudding. I tried the Lu Rou Fan, and it had a gentle flavor with just the right amount of sweetness, making it irresistible. I also had a taste of the Ji Rou Fan my wife ordered, and the smooth and tender texture of the chicken was impressive. The interior of the restaurant is as lovely as the exterior. You can even buy cat-shaped pineapple cakes as souvenirs. They were crumbly with a gentle sourness and sweetness, and very delicious. It's a bit of a walk from Shimokitazawa, especially in the summer, but definitely worth a visit. I will be back again.

A new Taiwanese cafe-style restaurant has opened in Shimokitazawa. The staff seem to be Taiwanese. The Lu Rou Fan set meal is ¥1100. The Lu Rou Fan has just the right amount of fat and the flavor and aroma are amazing! It might be in my top 5 Lu Rou Fan dishes I've had in Japan. The side dishes also have unique and delicious flavors that you don't often find in Japan. With the recent increase in Instagrammable pseudo-Taiwanese bars, a proper restaurant like this is really valuable. #LuRouFan #setmeal #Shimokitazawa #lunch

I have never been to Taiwan, but I imagine it would be something like this... I enjoyed my meal while thinking about how I would like to visit Taiwan someday. The cute exterior and interior, and the friendly female staff, who I assume are Taiwanese, left a good impression. I had the Ji Rou Han set meal and the tomato and beef soup with knife-cut noodles. The set meal had shredded boiled chicken on rice with fried onions and a light sauce, topped with a soft-boiled egg. It had a gentle flavor that made me want to eat it every day. Just as I thought the set meal alone might not be enough, the beef noodles arrived at the perfect timing. The tender stewed beef with the acidity of the tomato was exquisite. The chewy thick noodles had a substantial amount, and I was quite full after finishing both dishes by myself. It was a very satisfying lunch.

I visited a Taiwanese restaurant called "Maomii" that opened in Shimokitazawa on September 23rd, and tried their famous Taiwanese dish, Lu Rou Fan. It was a set meal, and I was delighted by the retro and cute exterior of the restaurant. The interior was also filled with adorable cat illustrations, perfect for cat lovers. The atmosphere was retro with naked light bulbs and a green color scheme, giving off a gentle vibe. I would love to try their pepper buns as well. The menu includes three meal options, snacks, desserts, and drinks like Taiwanese beer. The mung bean soup dessert looked very appealing. I ordered the Lu Rou Fan set meal, which came with slightly sweet simmered thick tofu, chopped seaweed, pickled cucumbers, and soup. The chopsticks were colorful, and I used the most vibrant ones. They even have pineapple-shaped cakes. Since their operating days and hours are limited, make sure to check before visiting.

A small casual eatery with soft sunlight streaming in, featuring a green wall and small tables. There are two 2-seater tables and a 4-seat counter facing the wall. The customers are mostly solo women or couples. The sincere young female staff provide attentive service, and there are two male and female chefs in the kitchen, all presumed to be Taiwanese. The menu includes dishes like Lu Rou Fan set meal, Ji Rou Fan set meal, Tomato and Beef Soup with Knife-Cut Noodles, Taiwanese Fried Chicken assortment, Green Bean and Job's Tears Sweet Soup, Peanut and Black Sesame Taiwanese Rice Cakes, and drinks like Apple Cider, Oriental Beauty Tea, Jasmine Fruit Tea, and Taiwanese Beer. The reviewer ordered the Lu Rou Fan set meal for 1100 yen, which features finely chopped pork resembling char siu, well-cooked with a deep flavor. The rice is slightly firm and sticky, served with fragrant boiled egg and pickled radish. The soup is a unique blend of bitter gourd, pineapple, and chicken, with a harmonious balance of sweetness and bitterness. The pickled bamboo shoots are soft with a gentle spiciness, and the cucumber pickle is likely salt koji pickled. The fried chicken is seasoned with fine pepper and refreshing spices, overall enhanced by effective seasoning with spices and herbs. While the portion may not be filling, the attention to detail in the dishes and the pleasant atmosphere make the prices reasonable, perfect for those looking for a casual and enjoyable dining experience.

The beautiful older sister made Taiwanese food for me, and it was very delicious. I happened to see a menu item that was half price, so I decided to try it. I also ordered dessert on top of that.

The braised pork rice set was decent. The flavor was a bit strong and the portion was small. The staff were friendly.

I had the Loco Moco set meal. It came with pickles and soup. It had a home-cooked taste. It wasn't bad, but I don't think it's worth going out of your way for.
