After a long time in Kyoto... I did some research on lunch options and found the perfect one that I wanted to try. I made a reservation in advance. It's a sister store located diagonally across from the high-class main store. The first floor has a counter seat and the second floor has regular seating. On the day of our visit, some customers without reservations also came in. We chose the counter seat on the first floor where we could watch the chef's cooking up close, a special seat indeed. First, we were served plum kelp tea, which was delicious. The menu we reserved was called "Saitenshin" for ¥3024. It came in a bento box with various small dishes packed inside, like a treasure box. The dishes included sea bream sashimi, mountain vegetable with deep-fried tofu, grilled yellowtail, simmered greens, simmered daikon radish, simmered taro, simmered wheat gluten, simmered snow peas, lucky beans, simmered bamboo shoots, simmered yuba, asparagus salmon roll, bean sprouts, vinegar lotus root, fiddlehead tempura, white fish tempura, green pepper tempura, and paprika tempura. We could enjoy 18 different flavors. It was beautiful to look at and delicious to eat. It's a type of Kyoto cuisine that you can't replicate at home. Just when we finished eating, we were served "Tamago Horaku," a dish we had never tried before. It was like a fluffy souffle egg with a delicate flavor and various ingredients like lily bulbs inside. It was delicious. For the finale, we had sea bream rice and red miso soup, which was incredibly tasty and satisfying. The sea bream rice was elegant and delicious. I wanted seconds. The dessert included in the meal was "Shiratama Zenzai," which was sweet and rich, with smooth and chewy white rice cakes. It was a lunch full of satisfaction. I highly recommend it for women, although men might find it a little lacking. The menu changes with the seasons, so I would love to come back and try it again. The Kyoto cuisine lunch is easy to access, which is great. Highly recommended!
