Here is another place that I thought was great to visit in Kyoto this time. [Cave de K Cave de Kay] @ Kyoto City Hall
This is a restaurant that my foodie friend recommended! It seems to be well known among gourmet foodies for a long time, but surprisingly it doesn't seem to have spread widely among dessert enthusiasts. Sometimes I feel the barrier between foodies and dessert enthusiasts in terms of information. Maybe because of the difference in customer spending, it seems that the customer base doesn't mix much?
So, I highly recommend this to my dessert friends! - I was really surprised.
・Hot Pancakes 880 yen
A food that overturns the concept of hot pancakes! As shown in the photo, the inside is beyond half-cooked and very thick and gooey. The surface is crispy and crunchy, and underneath is fluffy like a soufflé, and the center is gooey. A collaboration of three textures. I wonder if this is what happens when you fry soufflé batter flat in a frying pan instead of in a cocotte? But the center is not too airy like meringue, but has a delicious taste like anglaise. The point that distinguishes it from pancakes or soufflés is that the surface is burnt firmly. The addition of Macallan on top, giving it a slightly adult taste, is also wonderful. The appearance of hot pancakes that cannot be found elsewhere.
・Crêpe Suzette 990 yen
Prepared by setting Grand Marnier on fire. This is also delicious! Instead of spreading the crepe thinly on a plate like in a restaurant, it is folded multiple times to give it thickness, which I think is delicious. The deliciousness that does not lose to a restaurant, at this price. Surprising!
They provide desserts with the intention of "wanting you to come casually for lunch even though it's a bar." People who can't drink alcohol are also welcome! The bar-style that is really appreciated. The desserts, as well as the coffee and tea drinks, are made very carefully, making you feel the effort put into it. I wonder if the lunch is also delicious!? I look forward to trying the food next time.

Kyoto City Hall Mae Station, 5 minutes walk "Cave de Kay" This time, we ordered a la carte after being seated. Ordered items (☆ indicates particularly liked menu items) ☆ Today's glass of champagne ¥2750 ☆ Hotcakes ¥990 The hotcakes had a wonderful aroma that filled the restaurant the moment they arrived. When cut into, the surface was crispy, while the inside was gooey! Is this half-cooked!? Is it cream!? That kind of feeling. It's a unique and delicious taste. Because it was so gooey, it felt like it would be better to have one plate per person rather than sharing. There were several options for today's glass of champagne. They offered options ranging from affordable to magnum bottles, and even mentioned that there were still more varieties available at a higher price range. Early hours have no cover charge, making it a great luxurious appetizer before dinner, right? ------Helpful Tips------ * Visit Date ☆ Introduced by a friend ① Seating options include counter and private rooms. Reservations accepted. ---------------------------

This place is amazing. It's a stylish and classy bar. I had a mango cocktail which was so delicious, I could drink it all day. The desserts are also incredibly tasty. I would love to visit this place with someone special.

A cozy wine bar near Kyoto Hotel Okura and The Ritz-Carlton. I visited to try their hotcakes for 900 yen, but it turned out to be completely different from traditional hotcakes. The surface was crispy with caramel, while the inside was creamy like pudding. They offer a variety of cheeses, which was a pleasant surprise. You can also enjoy high-quality wines even by the glass.

Next to The Ritz-Carlton Kyoto, there is a wine bar called "Carved K." As soon as you enter the store, you will notice the impressive hallway floor, which is made of a skeleton design with plenty of unopened bottles scattered around. You can start with a plate of excellently selected cheeses, choosing two types for the starter. The recommended item is the sandwich [Pork ham, cucumber, onion 990 yen], but since I had already eaten, I decided to try the specialty of the house, the hotcake for 990 yen! It looks like a tart rather than a traditional pancake, with a refined sweetness enhanced by brandy, a gooey rare texture, and a slightly burnt surface. Delicious! As a lover of sweet treats, I found it addictive. The atmosphere of the restaurant is great, making it a versatile spot for drinks, sweets, or light meals. Definitely worth a visit. The pancakes are amazing! Laugh.

Since the start of the pandemic, I have been pursuing my artist activities. I work in a genre called Sumie Art, using ink and brush. I started at the suggestion of my wife Ekaterina II, and surprisingly, my work has been well received. In October 2022, I received the Kyoto Governor's Award at an exhibition in Kyoto, and shortly after, I held an exhibition in Kyoto. During the last weekend of the exhibition in Kyoto, Ekaterina visited me. She had made a reservation for us at a renowned wine bar next to The Ritz-Carlton Kyoto. The atmosphere was calm and the interior was impressively lit with indirect lighting from bottom to top. The ambience was gentle and not the usual modern or sharp style. The bar had a lineup of fine champagnes, Franciacorta, and wines available by the glass. Ekaterina enjoyed Krug and other selections. The cheese selection was outstanding, and the food was surprisingly casual with a variety of Western dishes. One of the specialties was the flambéed hotcakes, which were a fragrant and sophisticated dessert that paired well with the wines. Unfortunately, I forgot what we drank. The food included a persimmon and prosciutto salad, a cheese platter, Bolognese spaghetti, roast beef, and hotcakes. Ekaterina seemed to really enjoy the experience and mentioned she would visit again when in Kyoto.

Next to The Ritz-Carlton Kyoto is a wine bar with a high rating of 3.56 on Tabelog (as of November 23, 2022). I have heard that it opens early, making it a popular spot for pre-dinner drinks. It is said to be affiliated with Bar K6. They offer a selection of three G Champagnes, including rosé, all served in magnum bottles. I tried three glasses: Andre Clouet Silver Brut Nature x 2 and Bruno Paillard Brut Rose Premier Cuvee x 1. For a snack, I chose two types of cheese (Langres and Mimolette). Andre Clouet (Blanc de Noirs) had aromas of apple, pear, citrus, and a hint of brioche. Bruno Paillard's rosé had aromas of red and purple berries, with a slightly nutty note. The total for three glasses was just over 10,000 yen, with Andre Clouet priced in the late 2,000 yen range per glass and Bruno Paillard around 3,000 yen per glass. Additionally, there was a 10% service charge and a 1,100 yen cover charge. The atmosphere and service were top-notch with no shortcomings, but prices were on the higher side to match the quality.

This is a restaurant recommended by a famous patissier in Ebisu. Thank you so much ❤️ Next to the Ritz, there is a wine bar that seems to specialize in champagne, with magnum bottles displayed generously. I tried the amazing hotcakes for 990 yen in the afternoon, so I thought of having coffee, but then decided to go for the fresh fruit cocktail with plenty of glittering fruits. I chose peach and Shine Muscat for the cocktail ❤️ The cocktail was a smooth and rich peach fruit cocktail! It was delicious. After a while, the hotcakes arrived ✨ The texture is a trio - crispy on the edges, fluffy in the middle, and creamy custard-like in the center. An irresistibly delicious adult hotcake with a rich whiskey aroma. I can't wait to try the Crepe Suzette next time I go! Of course, I also want to try the champagne!

When it comes to wine bars in Kyoto, this place is a must-visit. Finally got to try Curved K! Here, you can enjoy magnum champagne by the glass! Magnum champagne is just so delicious, and being able to enjoy it by the glass in this luxurious space is a treat. They offer a variety of champagnes like Krug, Bollinger, and Palmer. The service is excellent, and they try their best to accommodate any requests you may have. Even when serving a simple fruit, they prepare it right in front of you, chilling it like they would for a cocktail. The presentation is well thought out, and they make sure to entertain their guests. The food menu is also extensive, and everything is delicious. For dessert, we ordered the Crepe Suzette, which was made right in front of us with an impressive performance. As this is a popular spot, it's recommended to make a reservation before going.

I went to this restaurant based on a recommendation from an acquaintance. They said it would change my concept of pancakes. The interior was unusual, resembling a high-end bar, where I sat at the counter and ordered pancakes. I also ordered tea to go with it, fitting the bar atmosphere. The pancakes were smaller than I expected, with a nicely browned surface and a gooey interior. They were like a cross between a half-baked castella cake and a crème brûlée, truly changing my idea of what pancakes could be. They were delicious! The ambiance of the restaurant and the friendly staff made it a very comfortable place to be. I also ordered pasta, even though it wasn't on the menu, opting for their famous lemon and butter pasta. It was simple yet flavorful, with the lemon adding a refreshing touch that balanced out the richness of the butter and cheese. If this restaurant were nearby, I would definitely become a regular. Highly recommended!

Today, I went to Bar K6 and then to Cave de K, making a full circle. It was the first time I enjoyed such a variety of drinks. I had a bottle of Jura's Vin Jaune, made from Savagnin grapes, which has a unique aroma. To finish, I had an omelette sandwich with fried potatoes. It was almost time for the day to change, but I managed to return home safely after visiting three bars and drinking strong alcohol.

I went to a Spanish restaurant in the neighborhood after making a reservation with the staff. It was my first visit in a long time. They had a special New Year's menu, which was lucky. I was able to enjoy a wonderful lineup of dishes at a great price.

I came to Wine Bar Cave de K for the third time, located next to The Ritz-Carlton Kyoto. I just dropped by before dinner in Okazaki area. This place offers delicious wines, champagnes, and sweets, and the atmosphere is very cozy. The sommeliers are all skilled and provide excellent service. I have a sweet tooth, so I love their Crepe Suzette. However, since it's only the pre-dinner drinks, I had to resist and settle for Perrier. They also specialize in champagnes, with KLUG boasting one of the best selections in Kyoto. You can even enjoy a glass for 5000 yen. Today, I had the Veuve Clicquot Grand Dame vintage in a glass, which is quite rare in magnum size in Japan. I also tried some cheeses like Epoisses. I felt like I could just end my day here with all the good things. The popular hotcakes are also recommended. And behind the male sommelier's glass shelf, there is a secret... When the shelf moves, another bar appears. It's a members-only Scotch bar...

Prosciutto is delicious, especially when paired with dessert and wine or cocktails at this amazing restaurant. The cheese is also good, and the pancakes are the best, but they turned out undercooked this time, what a disappointment! The bar is still the best though, always crowded and hard to get into!

Today, my dream of over 10 years came true. I visited Curved K, recommended by my mentor Jimon (unofficially). I highly recommend their pancakes with exquisite milk tea. The inside is so creamy, almost like creme brulee. It was a dish with a finish I've never experienced before. Excellent! My partner's crepe was also flambeed, making it both fun and delicious. Thank you for the wonderful time and space!

There is a wine bar located at the Ritz-Carlton with a famous sommelier on staff. It has a cozy atmosphere that locals seem to enjoy, with a great selection of wines. I tried the KRUG 163 EME by the glass. The price was a bit nerve-wracking to hear at the end, but considering that cheese comes with it, it was within expectations. You can choose 2 out of about 15 different types of cheese. They also offer unique desserts like an endangered species crepe Suzette and a hotcake reminiscent of a hat cake.

A wine bar located near The Ritz-Carlton Kyoto. It is a Spanish restaurant that requires a reservation and introduction, just across the bridge on Nijo Street. After having lunch there, a group of five of us visited. They are known for serving magnum champagne in glasses. I ordered the Henri Giraud Ombre Pinot Noir with a Conté cheese (aged 18 months). We had a great time together.
