Toy-like vivid green matcha soba noodles. It reminds me of Lego blocks for some reason (am I the only one feeling this?). When you eat it, it has a good texture and is chewy. Yum. There are four large chunks of ice hidden under the soba, making it look like a mountain but not actually a huge portion. It was just the right amount. Although it's a good deal to get a set with dessert included, I absolutely had to order the Special Tokorozawa Parfait separately. I'm glad I ordered the parfait... Matcha whipped cream, matcha castella cake, matcha jelly, matcha ice cream, matcha sherbet... amazing. It's like a matcha festival happening in this triangular parfait glass! Eating it is fun because you discover something new with each bite. The chestnut simmered in syrup shines brightly among the soft textures in the first half (top layer). Its elegant sweetness stands out without being overpowered by the matcha flavor. And the compatibility with the matcha whipped cream is superb. Each component has its own character, but when combined, they enhance each other and taste even better. Then there's the matcha sherbet. I've had matcha ice cream before, but I don't think I've ever had matcha sherbet. It's a bit unusual. The crunchy texture is delightful. Eating it after the cream and white dumplings enhances the refreshing feeling and makes it even more luxurious. Finally, the crunchy agar jelly that appears at the end is just right for calming down the sweetened palate. It's refreshing. Without it, I might still be lost in a dream... The location also played a role in creating this dreamy atmosphere during the meal. The night view from the 10th floor of Daimaru Tokyo is the epitome of the "city" that most people imagine. I sat at the counter seat furthest from the window, almost directly across from the evenly spaced square windows of Yaezakura Midtown. Watching the salarymen battling it out in those windows, each with their own drama, and benefiting from the economic prosperity that has developed as a result, it made me realize that this happiness exists now... Bon appétit. It was an overwhelming feeling (laughs). Young people would call this "emo," I suppose.

On Friday around noon, I visited Tsujiri on the 10th floor of Daimaru at Tokyo Station. It was about 20% full. The interior had more depth than I imagined, and the view outside was really nice! I ordered the Matcha Ice Straight Tea for 825 yen. I've had something similar at another Tsujiri before, but this one had ice made from frozen matcha, which made it incredibly rich and delicious! It's not sweet, but I love it! Thank you for the meal ^ ^ I will definitely go back!

I tried some popular sweets from Toshiri in Kyoto. They offer a variety of teas as well as desserts like financiers. This time, I tried the seasonal chestnut financier. It had a buttery aroma and the chestnut had a nice balance of bitterness and sweetness, making it a delicious treat with a sophisticated flavor.

It might have been 15 or 20 years since I last had shaved ice. In the past, shaved ice was always associated with syrup loaded with additives, so I always thought it was a waste of money to order it at a store. I was told to choose my favorite seat as it was a quiet time, so I chose a counter seat by the window in the back right corner. Without hesitation, I sat down where I could see both Yaesu Midtown and the Showa-era neon signs of Japanese companies. The ice was beautifully circular, finely shaved, and easy to eat. Besides the white balls, there were also mochi-like items and something similar to condensed milk. It seems they will be available until the end of September. I feel like I want to eat it again. The restaurant was spacious, not crowded on a weekday night, and I was able to spend a quiet time there.

Tokyo branch of the famous Kyoto restaurant Tsujiri. I have been to the main store many times. It's the place to go after visiting Yasaka Shrine, right? Located on the 10th floor of Daimaru right in front of Tokyo Station, they also sell some small items in front of the store. The eat-in space inside is quite spacious, and being on the 10th floor, the view is not bad. The atmosphere in the store with the sound of the koto playing is nice, and the staff's service was polite. The menu is a bit on the pricey side, but given the location and atmosphere, it's understandable. I've tried almost everything at Tsujiri before, so this time I went for their ice cream, which is always a safe choice. You can choose from matcha, brown rice tea, or hojicha. I ordered: Tsujiri Ice Cream - 814 yen. Matcha. It was a stable taste, with just the right amount of sweetness and a decent aroma, making it delicious. Not too strong of a matcha flavor, with a mild astringency and easy to eat. The whipped cream was firm and not too sweet, and it came with a small snack which was tasty. The portion size was satisfying. It's a nice place for a little break. Just like Tsujiri, the tea they serve at the beginning is also delicious. It's a place that can be used for various occasions. Thank you for the meal!

I went in the morning, a little after 10 o'clock. I didn't have to wait because I went early. The restaurant is spacious and clean. The taste was delicious, as expected. The prices are a bit higher compared to Kyoto, but I could choose a soba dessert. I will definitely go again.

Today I was in the mood for a parfait, so I went to the Charyo Toshuri Daimaru Tokyo store. It is a café run by the famous Kyoto shop "Tsujiri". The store is located on the 10th floor of Daimaru Tokyo, and the view outside is quite beautiful. I arrived just before the last order, and the store was almost full. I ordered the Special Toshuri Parfait (matcha). The atmosphere inside the store is calm and comfortable. The parfait was brought to me in about 10 minutes. It was a matcha parfait with matcha cream, ice cream, jelly, and pound cake. It had a rich matcha flavor with red bean paste, cold matcha ice cream, and matcha cream. Inside, there were also white balls and agar, providing a variety of textures. At the bottom, there was vanilla ice cream, offering a different taste from matcha. It was a place where you could enjoy both the parfait and the view.

Tokyo Station, Yaesu Exit, the city view of Toroji, known for its sweets. The line was incredible, possibly due to the famous dessert shops. I started lining up at 3 pm, snack time, but by the time I was seated, it was already past 4 pm. There were over 30 groups ahead of me, and within 5 minutes of waiting, 10 more groups lined up behind me, so I decided not to give up my spot and ended up enjoying a parfait. I originally planned to have shaved ice, but after waiting in the cool department store for so long, the shaved ice seemed like it would get too cold, so I opted for a parfait. Most parfaits were priced the same. Toroji is famous for matcha, but I felt like having roasted green tea, so I chose a roasted green tea parfait. As a solo diner, I was comfortably seated at the counter by the window, which was easy to enter. If there were two or more people, they would ask if we preferred counter or table seating. True to its tea shop nature, they promptly refilled the complimentary warm tea as soon as it ran out. Despite the image of sweets, it seemed they also offered meal options.

On the 10th floor of Daimaru Tokyo in Tokyo Station, there is a tea house called Charyo Toshuri Daimaru Tokyo Store. This time, it was selected as one of the top 100 Japanese confectionery shops, and it has been a few years since my last visit. I entered the store at 11:00 on a weekday, and the store was about 20% full. I initially planned to have the matcha parfait, but seeing about half of the other customers enjoying the assorted Japanese-style sweets made me curious. I was seated at a counter by the window and decided to order the seasonal limited edition "Aideru" cold roasted green tea set for 1694 yen. The set included cold roasted green tea and 3 kinds of sweets: 1. Matcha ice cream, 2. Peach Mont Blanc, 3. Mitarashi dango. The set also came with pine syrup-soaked pineapple. After about a 10-minute wait, the set was served. The seasonal cold roasted green tea set included a rich matcha ice cream with finely crushed cereal at the bottom for a delightful flavor change. The peach Mont Blanc had matcha cream and matcha sponge underneath, creating an unexpected combination. The Mitarashi dango was lightly flavored in the Kyoto style, with 3 dango balls on a skewer. The cold roasted green tea was chilled with ice, refreshing the palate after the sweetness of the Japanese sweets. Enjoying these Japanese sweets at the counter seat while looking at the view outside the window was a truly delightful experience. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I couldn't go on a business trip to Kyoto, so I had a rematch at Daimaru Tokyo. I enjoyed a delicious Midori Jade Parfait. I visited on a weekday around 2 pm alone. In the store, the local ladies were chatting happily while enjoying their food. Even though it was summer, the warm hojicha tea served was amazing. The building was cold due to air conditioning, so the warm tea was much appreciated. The parfait was mainly matcha flavored, but the hojicha jelly in the middle was a nice touch. The staff were attentive and provided great service.

At lunchtime, I was surprised to find that the 10th floor of Daimaru near Tokyo Station, which is usually crowded, was surprisingly empty. The restaurant there was also empty. I tried the dish in the photo, and it was delicious. I'm not sure if it's anything special, but if you're looking for a quiet place to take a break when the underground area is crowded, it might be worth a try.

Visited around 15:50 on the weekend. About 40 people were waiting in line. A staff member was managing the line at the back. I wanted to try the parfait or shaved ice, but decided not to because I don't like waiting in line. I heard even on weekdays there is a long line. Since I ran out of green tea tea bags, I decided to buy some to take home. The green tea tea bags cost 648 yen for 8 bags. When I saw the watercolor and tea leaves, I knew it would be delicious. It had a rich flavor and sweetness, making it a high-quality green tea. I enjoyed it more than the parfait.

I visited seeking cold warabi mochi and waited for about 30 minutes on a Sunday afternoon. The cold warabi mochi was rich and chewy, and delicious. It tasted even better with plenty of kinako and kuromitsu on the side. For those who don't want to wait in line, it might be better to visit on weekdays or right after opening on weekends.

A traditional Japanese teahouse located in Tokyo Daimaru. It is affiliated with Gion Tsujiri and offers a wide variety of tea-based sweets. I visited around 1 PM on a Saturday and was able to easily get a seat since it was still early for tea. However, the lunch menu seemed popular as most seats were taken. I ordered a matcha parfait, which was the most extravagant option with matcha ice cream, jelly, chestnuts, and shiratama. As expected from a Gion Tsujiri affiliated store, it was rich in matcha flavor and satisfying to eat. I thoroughly enjoyed the matcha sweets.

Lunchtime dessert here. Visited around 1:30 pm on a holiday and had to wait for 6-7 people, but got seated in about 15 minutes. The counter seats are a bit tight but since it's on the 10th floor, the view is nice. I can't come at night, but the night view seems beautiful ( ´・з・` ) Good, I want to go to Midtown across the street next time. Oh, here comes the anmitsu. *Shiratama Cream Anmitsu ¥1210. You can choose between vanilla or matcha ice cream, and black honey or matcha syrup. The anmitsu has soft and chewy shiratama, delicious red bean paste, and a satisfying amount of agar. When I left the shop around 2:30 pm, there was a line outside. It's popular, isn't it? 2023 Best 100 Shops.

I visited "Miyako Sato" on the 10th floor of Daimaru Tokyo on September 8, 2023. I arrived in the evening around 6 pm and was seated promptly with no wait. The restaurant offers a great view overlooking Yaesu towards Nihonbashi, making it a perfect location to enjoy some sweets. I was worried about Typhoon 13 hitting Kanto and possibly getting stuck, but thankfully it passed through safely, allowing me to enjoy a relaxing evening. I decided to treat myself to a luxurious parfait, ordering the "Midori Tama Parfait" for 1,584 yen. I thought I would have to wait a while, but it was served to me in just 5 minutes. The elegant green color of the matcha whipped cream, resembling an emerald, looked delicious and refined. The dark green jelly was exceptionally well-made, making me want to try it as a standalone dish. The parfait included shiratama, red bean paste, matcha ice cream, and vanilla ice cream, allowing me to savor all the components typically found in a parfait. With the backdrop of the city skyline at night, there was nothing to complain about. The warm tea served at the end was comforting. Thank you for the meal.

Established in 1860, the Kyoto-based Uji tea specialty store "Gion Tsujiri" expanded to Tokyo in 1978 with the opening of "Saryo Tsujiri." Their matcha parfait is a popular item on the menu. Another must-try is the chilled warabi mochi, which is soft and rich in matcha flavor, topped with ice for a refreshing touch. They also offer freshly ground matcha made in a stone mill, producing only 40 grams of matcha in an hour. They also serve hojicha. The store accepts credit cards and plays traditional Japanese koto music. The founder, Tsutomu Miyoshi, opened "Saryo Tsujiri" in 1978, and the Tokyo Daimaru store opened in 2007. The second-generation president is Tomiko Miyoshi. The name "Tsujiri" is derived from the Kyoto-based brand, with "Tsujiri" representing the Kyoto capital, "Roji" symbolizing Shijo Street, and "Sato" representing the tea village of Uji, combined to form "Tsujiri." The store has a serene atmosphere with traditional Japanese music playing in the background, providing a relaxing experience even in the bustling Tokyo Station.

I thought it was just a simple cafe in the department store, but I was surprised by its depth and spaciousness. Plus, the wide windows offer a great view, especially during sunset. I visited after work on a weekday, so there weren't many customers. I'm sure it gets crowded on weekends, just like the famous Torosuri in Kyoto. The elegant waitstaff were pouring roasted tea, which was delicious! It's Kyoto after all. Since I had already eaten dinner, I opted for the small hojicha parfait. Even though it was the smaller size, the glass was quite large, and it had more volume than I expected. It had agar, hojicha ice cream, hojicha jelly, vanilla ice cream, and hojicha whipped cream at the bottom. You can also add toppings like shiratama or castella for an additional charge. It was a very nice atmosphere in the store.

I visited before 4:00 PM on a weekday. I happened to encounter a long line at the register just as it was time to pay. The majority of the customers were foreigners. I ordered the Hojicha Financier for 248 yen. There were other snacks and toppings available, but I chose this because I love financiers. When I tried it, I was surprised by how chewy it was! It must be because it contains rice flour. I couldn't really taste the hojicha, but I enjoyed the unique and chewy texture, similar to steamed bread. I paid using Rakuten Pay.

I have visited three locations of this store: the Gion main store, the Skytree store, and the store in Daimaru Tokyo on the 10th floor. At the Gion store, I had a parfait, and at the Skytree store, I had soft serve ice cream. This time, I decided to try something new and ordered the "chilled bracken rice cake with cold matcha" for 1430 yen. The store is quite large, and due to its location, it is always crowded with customers. The chilled bracken rice cake looked beautiful and fresh when it arrived. You can choose to add honey and soybean flour to it. I added all the honey and half of the soybean flour. It was the right choice as it allowed me to enjoy both the matcha flavor of the rice cake and the soybean flour. The sweet rice cake paired perfectly with the cold matcha, and I savored every last bite. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I had the special Toraya parfait with matcha at Toraya. It had been a while since I last visited, and I noticed they now offer a special hojicha option as well. However, as someone who wants to try both matcha and hojicha, I always struggle to choose from the menu. I usually spend my time between Toraya and Chidoriya in Daimaru Tokyo.
