Exploring Tokyo's gourmet scene! Shibuya Ward, Yoyogi-Uehara Edition. Tried out the popular Argentine soul food spot "Mi Choripan" for the first time! On a sunny winter day, feeling a bit chilly, I felt like having some yakisoba, so I enjoyed some at "Houmi Hachiman" in Yoyogi-Hachiman before taking a stroll. Then, I headed to my favorite Portuguese restaurant in Yoyogi-Uehara, "Cristiano," but it was too crowded, so I decided to walk to "Mi Choripan," the Argentine soul food spot I had been curious about. This place, which opened in January 2013, serves a sandwich with thick chorizo sausage, a homemade specialty by the owner who trained in Buenos Aires. It is a classic fast food item loved by the people of Argentina. Walking about 10 minutes from Yoyogi-Hachiman towards Uehara along Inokashira Street, you will find this colorful and charming shop with a tropical vibe. For my first takeout experience at "Mi Choripan," I ordered the Choripan sandwich for ¥840. The chorizo sausage, with its spicy kick and satisfying texture, was delicious. The combination of chorizo, ketchup, mayo, and mustard created a spicy and sweet flavor that was just right. This unique and original sandwich was a masterpiece with its chili-like spiciness and sweet taste. The outstanding flavors of these addictive dishes have made me decide to visit again. Absolutely delicious!

I heard that there is a specialty shop for Choripan, which is a soul food in Argentina, so I visited to learn more. In the Mexican restaurant where I work, we sometimes offer Choripan as a weekly special, so I wanted to try the authentic version. The Chorizo patty and Chimichurri were both spicy and had a delicious flavor that was different from a regular hot dog.

There is a restaurant near Yoyogi Uehara Station where you can eat Argentine choripan. The interior of the restaurant has table seating, so you can eat slowly. It operates on a pre-order system and you can use QR codes, which is very convenient. I ordered the Salsa Choripan (1090 yen) and Ginger Ale (360 yen). The French bread was lightly toasted, making it very crispy. It had a good texture and the salsa sauce, cabbage, and other ingredients went well together. The salsa sauce had a slight spiciness, which added a nice kick. The meat also had a good flavor, making it a satisfying dish.

I've been into casual Chinese food lately, but is it a common thing for casual Chinese restaurants? The information on Tabelog, Google Maps, and SNS is often very outdated! So, when I came across this cute shop front, I couldn't resist! It turns out this place has been specializing in Argentine cuisine, specifically Choripan, for over 10 years! Choripan? I looked it up and found out it's a local dish where thick homemade chorizo and lots of toppings are sandwiched between bread and eaten. I was really intrigued, so I visited right away! There were various customers waiting in line, both for takeout and in-store dining, showing how popular it is. There is also a terrace seat, and I was guided there in about 10 minutes, and I placed my order inside! The name Salsa Choripan caught my eye, so I ordered that! ▶︎▶︎▶︎▶︎▶︎ Let's eat ◀︎◀︎◀︎◀︎◀︎ Salsa Choripan A large, fluffy bread with chorizo and a ton of vegetables, isn't it amazing? And they're so colorful and beautiful! Now, let's take a bite! Oh, it's not the crispy sausage you would normally imagine! And it's not spicy either!? You can really taste the fresh, juicy meat and spices, and it's incredibly delicious! The sauce also adds to the flavor, making it really good! The atmosphere on the terrace was nice, and the delicious Choripan was gone in an instant! ▶︎▶︎▶︎▶︎▶︎ Thank you for the meal ◀︎◀︎◀︎◀︎◀︎ The atmosphere inside the store is cute, and it seems like they also offer all-you-can-drink, so I thought it would be interesting to come at night sometime! Located on the downhill lane of Inokashira Street, this restaurant stands out with its bright lights at night and serves Argentina's traditional dish, Choripan. Choripan is a sandwich with chorizo sausage, and you can choose from three different types with or without vegetables. The side dishes are also delicious and highly recommended! Although it is a bit pricier than chain fast food restaurants, the handmade quality and generous portion of vegetables make it worth it!

Yoyogi Uehara Mi Choripan (Mi Choripan) "Special Choripan and Inca Cola" A specialty shop for Choripan, Argentina's soul food that celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. I knew about the shop but couldn't remember it at all, until someone insisted that it was delicious. Finally, I made my first visit. It's about a 7-minute walk from Yoyogi Uehara Station, in a stylish cafe that also serves as a kitchen, with a calm atmosphere. Choripan is a simple and juicy local dish with thick Chorizo sausage and lots of toppings sandwiched between bread. It's probably not the spicy Chorizo that Mexicans would imagine, but a thick, coarse Argentine sausage made by mixing fresh ground beef with about 10 types of spices and stuffing it into a pork intestine. Another key point is the magical sauce of Argentine cuisine, "Chimichurri," a unique sauce originating from Argentina made by mixing vinegar and oil with various spices, herbs, and oregano. This sauce is incredibly delicious in terms of aroma and flavor. The Chorizo, plenty of vegetables, and Chimichurri mixed in a dedicated bread make for an exquisite Argentine-style hot dog. It was so delicious, especially with the memories of the three months I lived in Buenos Aires in the past. For drinks, I had the yellow Inca Cola from Peru, where I lived for five years. Equally delicious. Thank you for the meal!

Today in the World Cup Food Series, we have the Choripan sandwich from Argentina, featuring a sausage sandwiched in a bun. You can find it along the street in Yoyogi-Uehara. Argentina suffered a comeback loss to Saudi Arabia. Can Messi's star-studded team make a comeback? The Choripan features a spicy sausage with cumin aroma, paired perfectly with a toasted bun from Mineya Bakery. It also comes with mate tea and side dishes for around 1400 yen. It's just the right size for lunch.

I was unsure which restaurant to choose for my 2,600th review, but the high point for me is "Gourmet from Unknown Countries." This restaurant fulfilled that for me, so I will make this my milestone review. I decided to have lunch around Yoyogi Uehara by train and headed to a place I love, "World Gourmet." This time, I tried the "Choripan," known as Argentina's soul food. It is a sandwich with a thicker chorizo than usual sandwiched in bread. The restaurant has a South American-style appearance with a canopy and the entrance is open, with smoke rising from grilling bread and chorizo. It seems to be a popular shop with customers coming in for takeout one after another. The interior has about 5 table seats and a terrace seat for two. The ordering and payment system is done upfront. We ordered the Choripan and Salsa Choripan with ginger ale and iced coffee. My partner misunderstood and ordered sweet for the sauce, thinking it was for the food, but it turned out to be for the ginger ale. The "Choripan" is a simple sandwich with just chorizo, while the Salsa Choripan is packed with plenty of vegetables and has a spicy and tangy flavor. The bread is grilled on a grill, giving it a crispy surface, and the chorizo has a meaty, wild taste. It comes in a hot dog bag, making it easy to eat without the ingredients falling out. The restaurant attracts many foreign customers, giving it a vibe of traveling abroad. I enjoyed tasting unique food from a rare country. Thank you for the meal~

On a holiday afternoon, I transferred trains to reach Yoyogi Uehara. For lunch, I decided to eat here. I had a regular choripan, while my friend had a salsa choripan. The regular choripan didn't have any vegetables in it. It seems like the only difference is the salsa sauce. Looking at the picture, the mini choripan seems to have vegetables in it. Maybe I should have chosen that one? The sausage, cut in half, is topped with sauce. Well, it's delicious, right? I still wish it had some vegetables though. Was it a mistake in my choice?

The shop along Inokashira Street has a stylish interior. They start cooking after taking orders, so it can take a while when it's busy. When I visited, there were already two groups of customers who had placed their orders, so I waited for their dishes to be prepared. The sizzling sound and delicious aroma in the air whet my appetite. Just a heads up, the smell tends to stick to your clothes, so be aware if you dine in. I took my order to go and it got cold, but reheating it in the oven brought it back to life. The combination of the rich meat flavor and the crispy texture of the bread is exquisite.

[Nearest Station] 5 minutes walk from Yoyogi Uehara Station [Visit Date] Holiday 11:00~ Opening time [Overview] Japan's first authentic Choripan shop. Specializing in the soul food of passionate Argentina, Choripan, this shop opened in Yoyogi Uehara. The owner actually worked at a popular shop in the capital Buenos Aires and decided to open a shop in Japan after realizing the deliciousness of Choripan during their world travels! Be sure to try their specialty, homemade thick Chorizo sausage! *Choripan is a sandwich with Chorizo sausage, vegetables, and other toppings. [Menu] If you want to enjoy the Chorizo simply, you should choose the Choripan! Recommended: Salsa Choripan [Notes] Visited at the opening time of 11:00. They offer eat-in, delivery, and take-out options. Water is self-service. Visited with a friend and ordered a simple Choripan and Salsa Choripan! The sausage, although small at about 15 centimeters, has a strong and impactful flavor that exceeds its appearance. In the case of the Salsa Choripan, the acidity of the salad adds a nice touch to balance out the richness, making it delicious and suitable for women. They also offer toppings like onion chips and cilantro, allowing you to create your own original Choripan. The interior is designed in an Argentine style, creating a casual atmosphere. Thank you for the meal. *Rating at the time of posting: 3.55

No matter how many times you go, the deliciousness is addicting. It looks junky, but not too much! The bread is just the right hardness and the slightly tangy sauce is very good! The side potatoes are also delicious, so definitely try them. I would love to try it in Argentina, the home of the dish.

During a sunny afternoon in GW, I finally visited Mi choripan, a place I had been curious about. I was excited to try the choripan, a dish I had enjoyed in Argentina. The menu offered several options: regular choripan, salsa choripan, and special choripan, with the option to switch to a beef-only chorizo for each. We ordered two special choripans, one with just beef. Unfortunately, they were out of Quilmes beer, so we opted for craft beer instead. We also ordered the classic side dish, Empanada. We sat outside, enjoying the nice weather, and soon our beers arrived. The beer was brown with minimal foam, and had a slightly malty taste similar to what you might find in a British pub. It didn't quite feel Argentine to me - perhaps we should have gone with red wine instead? The Empanada arrived shortly after. The Argentine classic is the cheese Empanada, which is like a samosa with cheese inside and fried. The dough's flavor is what sets it apart. The half-moon shape is also authentic. Finally, the awaited choripan arrived. It was a hearty sandwich with a large chorizo and plenty of vegetables, making it quite filling. The special choripan came with Chimichurri and a scallion mayonnaise sauce. The other two options might have been closer to the authentic experience. Nonetheless, the special choripan was well-executed, with a good balance of meat and vegetables. The chorizo, made with a mix of beef, felt more authentic than the 100% beef option. If the meat had a denser texture, it would have been even more authentic (based on my memory and comparison). Just a note, chorizo is quite different from hot dog sausage in terms of texture. After finishing the hearty meal, I felt satisfied. I look forward to trying the regular choripan next time, hopefully with Quilmes beer available. Choripan, in my opinion, deserves to be as popular as tacos in the fast food world. I am rooting for its success.

Yoyogi-Uehara on the way home from work, I was looking for a late lunch and came across this place. Choripan!! I feel like I ate it in Argentina before, but it didn't leave much of an impression. Curious about what it was like, I decided to go in. A restaurant where Choripan is the main dish!! This might be the only place like this in Japan!! Innovative. "Review" [Special Choripan] The bread had a good texture with spicy chorizo. The buns were delicious, and there was also a hint of acidity which made it tasty. Goes well with beer. [Empanada] This was average. [Atmosphere] The interior is stylish. It's easy to come in for a drink alone. [Service] There was no "welcome" when I entered, and the man who served me didn't say "thank you for the meal" or "you're welcome." It felt a bit disappointing. [Cost performance] A sandwich that costs over 1000 yen. Not sure if it's worth it, but you can try something unique, so it's worth experiencing at least once.

Choripan Salsa Sandwich 990 yen This is a specialty shop for Argentina's soul food, "Choripan." Choripan is a sandwich with chorizo sausage sandwiched between bread. The homemade chorizo sausage, grilled to a crispy texture, is incredibly meaty! It goes really well with the generous amount of salsa, creating a sandwich with a punchy and satisfying taste. It's a unique flavor that you won't find in Japan, but personally, I really enjoyed it! It was incredibly delicious!

Visited on a Sunday night around 7 pm. I had never tried Argentine cuisine before, so I had been wanting to come here for a while. It seemed like a lunch-focused restaurant as there were no other customers. I decided to go all out and ordered the Salsa Choripan, Special Choripan, and Empanada with lots of filling. They had a rotating craft beer tap, and that day they had the Dai Dai Ale from Hitachino Nest Beer. I couldn't resist ordering it, even though a lighter beer might have been a better match. My husband ordered a cola, and the total bill came to 3,790 yen. It's not cheap, but I reminded myself that it's a different area from Katsushika. The chorizo was coarsely ground with a firm texture, and the flattened shape made it easy to eat. It was meaty and delicious, with a hint of herbs. I thought it might be spicy, but it wasn't. The chimichurri sauce was tangy with a punch of vinegar and garlic, adding a lot of flavor. It felt a bit one-dimensional, so I thought adding cilantro or hot sauce, or extra chorizo, would have balanced it better. Unfortunately, even the most expensive option didn't include everything. It's a minor foreign cuisine, so it was a bit disappointing that the restaurant didn't offer guidance on the best balance of flavors. I felt like there might be a point where the refreshing, meaty, and spicy elements could come together perfectly with a bit more tuning. Overall, it was a tasty meal.

"Mi Choripan" @ Yoyogi-Uehara (Inokashira Street) Is there any other place in Tokyo where you can easily enjoy Argentina's local food "Choripan" besides this restaurant? Located on Inokashira Street, after climbing a steep slope beyond the range of your prosthetic leg from Yoyogi-Uehara Station, you will find a Latin-style tent that stands out, which is "Mi Choripan." As soon as you open the door, you are greeted by the enticing smell of meat. The open kitchen is equipped with PayPay for payment. They offer four different lunch menus, and I chose the "Lunch Set B" for 1070 yen, which includes Choripan, a choice of three side dishes (I chose Empanada), and cold Mate tea. Upon being seated at a round table in the back, you can see the Chorizo sausage workshop with numerous spice bottles lined up. The dish arrived with Chorizo placed on a bed of cabbage, along with a salsa, pickled onions, and a mysterious red sauce called "Chimichurri." Two separate plates contained bread and the side dish "Empanada." The plate style allows you to create your own Choripan, which is a fun experience. The Argentine Chorizo, similar to Salsiccia, was grilled over high heat, resulting in a juicy, meaty texture with a perfect smoky and spicy flavor that was incredibly delicious. The mysterious red "Chimichurri sauce" added a unique Latin spice flavor. All these ingredients were placed on bread grilled over charcoal, creating a crispy and satisfying texture. The Empanada side dish was also a new and enjoyable experience for me. I could eat many of these. I fell in love with this Argentine food called "Choripan," which is neither a sandwich nor a burger, since I first tried it at the "Taiyo no Marche" in Kagurazaka three to four years ago. I couldn't help but exclaim "delicious" even though I usually prefer rice dishes. The bread was crispy, crunchy, and delicious, and the unfamiliar flavors were exciting. I wanted to pair it with beer, but opted for Mate tea for a healthier choice. I would definitely climb the hill from Yoyogi-Uehara again to revisit this "emotionally delicious" restaurant. It seems like I will be exploring around Chiyoda Line Yoyogi-Uehara area in February. #tomyamfoodwalk #NoSpiceNoLife2022 #UnfamiliarUseOfSpices #Mi_Choripan #Choripan #ChimichurriSauce #WasThatRaita #ItMustHaveBeenRaita #ArgentinasLocalFood #ArgentinianRestaurant #IStillLoveMeat #yummyfile2022-019

Salsa Choripan / ¥970 Choripan is Argentina's popular soul food. It's basically spicy chorizo sausage sandwiched in bread. Salsa Choripan is the same, but with added lettuce. Everything works together to enhance the chorizo. Juicy and spicy coarse-ground meat, grilled to perfection. The bread is crispy on the outside. It has a nice aroma of wheat. It was very delicious.

It's a 6-minute walk from Yoyogi-Uehara Station. Along the road, you'll see a colorful roof and Argentine-patterned drums outside. This place has been featured in gourmet magazines and is the only Choripan specialty shop in Japan. Choripan is a popular dish from Argentina, with thick chorizo and plenty of toppings sandwiched in bread. Inside the shop, there is a grill where they cook the chorizo after you order. The vegetable toppings are generous, and the Argentinean "Chimichurri sauce" adds a slightly tangy flavor with a mix of spices and herbs. I got takeout this time, so I couldn't enjoy it hot, but I'd like to dine in next time.

It has been about 5 years since my first visit to this place. I used to come to Yoyogi-Uehara to buy my daughter's sweets or for takeout when passing by in the car. It's convenient that they are open all day, especially when I miss lunch. I noticed that it's less crowded now due to the pandemic. Today, after a long time, I had the Choripan in full size. I sometimes make sandwiches with chorizo and bread at home, using sweet chili sauce to balance out the spiciness of the chorizo. In Argentina, chorizo is not as spicy as the common perception, it's more like salami on the outside. The key to the flavor is the chimichurri sauce, which is quite tangy on its own. When combined with the bread and chorizo, it balances out the saltiness and acidity perfectly. Chorizo is coarsely ground, so you need to chew it well. It stimulates the satiety center, making it ideal for dieting, maybe? If you don't mind tangy flavors, I recommend this place. It might also appeal to those who, like me, only use vinegar with dumplings! I forgot to ask for extra cilantro today, but I usually do. If you like Vietnamese Banh Mi, you might enjoy Choripan too. It seems to be popular among women. I bought some chimichurri sauce to use at home, and it made my beef steak sandwich taste just like the one from the restaurant. It's strange that there are no restaurants serving food like this.

I visited around 3 pm on a weekday and the restaurant was empty. The interior was very cute and decorated nicely. I ordered mini Michori bread, cheese pie, and potatoes. The Michori bread had a sausage inside with lettuce and tomato, and it was well-seasoned. The bread was not too hard or too soft, just right. The cheese pie also had onions in it and was delicious. The staff was either cool or shy, but they were handsome.
