Yoshidayama Seseri in Kyoto City was a famous food stall known for its grilled chicken skewers. I was torn between checking in first or going here first, but decided to go early and it was the right choice. By 6 pm, the place was already full, and you couldn't get a seat until 9 pm because there were only 8-9 seats available. Even though we were newcomers, the owner and his wife were kind and welcoming. I almost forgot to order their most popular dish, the Seseri, which is also the name of the restaurant. We had raw eggplant, snails, meatballs, heart, and Seseri skewers, along with whiskey highballs. The selection was limited but everything was of high quality. It's common to find Ichiro's Malt White Label at many places, but it's rare to find a yakitori restaurant that serves the Classical Edition. The last dish, the beautifully grilled Kyoto Akaji chicken breast, was exquisitely delicious. The condiments, with wasabi and ginger mixed in, were meticulously prepared. When it came time to pay, I realized I only had 4000 yen in my wallet. I offered to get more money from a nearby convenience store, but the owner said it was fine and I could pay next time. That was very generous. However, I insisted on getting more money and paid extra as a token of my appreciation. The food was delicious as expected. The friendly exchange made me want to come back again. It's a place I would love to visit regularly. I visited on a Saturday night with a reservation. It seemed like they were fully booked that day. I ordered negima, seseri, tsukune, and wagyu tendon. I left the seasoning up to them, and for negima, I tried both salt and sauce. They also have a curry flavor. Each skewer was generous in size, perfectly grilled, and incredibly delicious. It's a great value for the quality of yakitori near Kyoto Station, so I would love to visit again.

I made a reservation one month in advance as it seems to be a popular restaurant in Kyoto. The counter has 8 seats and it's a bit cramped and hot. I can't drink alcohol, but they made a delicious non-alcoholic chu-hi for me. The yakitori was amazing, everything I tried was delicious. The hospitality of the staff was also great. It was a very enjoyable and pleasant dining experience. I would love to visit again. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

The craftsmen brothers are fantastic. The ticket is good. With only 8 seats at the counter (probably), reservations fill up quickly. I couldn't go last time due to irregular circumstances, but finally got my revenge this time! It was delicious, fun, and satisfying! Dishes like water eggplant, spicy fried chicken, and water kimchi were all delicious, especially the sour flavors. The use of fruits in the sours was amazing. I had my first taste of sour made with komatsuna. It was a day of complete satisfaction with dishes like chicken neck and all the skewers. Reservations are a must! I'll definitely go again! (excited)

I had been recommended this restaurant by a friend since the days when they were operating a food stall, and I had always wanted to go but never had the chance. Finally, I was able to visit the restaurant. The yakitori was made with high-quality meat, thick and very delicious. I followed the recommended seasoning from the restaurant, and all of them were really tasty. The kimchi was different from regular kimchi, it was more like a light pickle and very delicious. I definitely want to go back again.

I visited the restaurant around 5:00 PM on a weekday. The place only had about eight seats, and luckily there were just two seats available when we arrived. They were so kind and accommodating! It seems they take reservations for the 5:00, 7:00, and 9:00 time slots, so reservations might be necessary (the phone was ringing constantly). We ordered seseri, liver, gizzard, tsukune, and more. Everything was delicious and truly impressive! The staff were so kind, even offering to add condiments like mustard and sansho pepper for flavor. It's a place that feels very loved! Just be aware that the restaurant is small and the last order for yakitori is one hour before closing. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience!

I heard that reservations can be made one month in advance, so I waited a bit before contacting them, but the desired time slot was already full. It's best to call early if you have a set schedule. Yakitori is cooked by type, so depending on the timing, there may be a wait. Therefore, it seems wise to order a dish that can be easily fit in between. The volume of the "seseri" skewers, which is also in the restaurant's name, was amazing, and I wanted to order more, but I had to give up because I was already full. The sansho pepper chu-hi was delicious. Next time, I want to try the sake.

I often arrive in Kyoto late at night for business trips, so it's convenient to have restaurants near the station that stay open late. I found a great restaurant here with delicious food. Everything is tasty, but the Seseri, Tsukune, and Tebasaki are especially good. Personally, I really enjoyed the juicy Tebasaki. The flavors are on the rich side. They go well with drinks. I forgot to take a photo, but the water kimchi is delicious, so if you eat while resetting with that, you'll end up eating more and more.

The service at the restaurant was excellent, with great cost performance and delicious food. Although the menu is not extensive, each item is good. We drank about 13 glasses of shochu highballs for two people, along with dishes like grilled heart, tsukune, beef tendon, seseri, shiitake mushrooms, white onion water eggplant sashimi, and tiramisu with whiskey. We spent around 5000 yen per person, and the seseri is a must-try - I could eat about 3 of them on my own. The water eggplant was light and refreshing, perfect for forgetting the summer heat. The tiramisu with whiskey was especially delicious, with the whiskey soaking in perfectly. I was particularly impressed by the shochu highballs, which were made by a former bartender with high quality. If you're familiar with Kyoto, you'll know that the tea highballs made with Ippodo's hojicha and green tea are both delicious (I prefer the fragrant hojicha). The shochu highball with sansho pepper is not just a regular highball, but a cocktail from a high-end bar. Each glass is made by crushing the sansho pepper seeds for aroma and pouring shochu soda. Be sure to try the ginger highball as well. The sweet fruit highballs are all full of fruit and are sure to be popular with women. Overall, everything was delicious.

After a long time, I visited Yoshidayama Seseri in front of Kyoto Station. The salt sauce is the basic of yakitori restaurants, and the best seseri can be enjoyed here. This one skewer is so satisfying that you can drink many cups with it. The water kimchi, eggplant sashimi, and the guidance from the mother are all excellent as always! The burnt parts are cut with scissors, and the green onion, liver, cartilage, tsukune, and tebasaki - all made with the best chicken meat and cooked perfectly. Before I knew it, I was using highball as a chaser for sake. I really recommend this yakitori restaurant. Thank you for the feast!

I was very satisfied. Everything I ate was delicious. The restaurant is very small, but the food is so good that it doesn't matter. It seems like you need to make a reservation to get in, but I was lucky and was able to get in at the right time since I was alone. I finally found a delicious yakitori restaurant after a long time.

I don't think there is a better yakitori restaurant in Kyoto. Everyone's values may vary, but in terms of taste, price, and customer service, this place is flawless. Once you know this place, your standards for other restaurants will change. My true feelings are that I don't want this place to become any more popular, but I couldn't resist writing a review. Thank you for the meal.

The food is delicious and I keep coming back. I want to try all the different types of yakitori, but each one is quite filling so I haven't been able to conquer them all yet. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere at the counter is great. The yakitori, especially the tsukune, liver, and seseri, are delicious, and they also teach me different ways to enjoy them, which is very refreshing.

Kuma Log 4.0 ❄️ Last night, I went to "Yoshidayama Seseri" with my friend Okkun. We had been wanting to try this yakitori restaurant for a while, but it was difficult to get a reservation. Finally, we were able to secure a reservation for 9 o'clock. The restaurant had a cozy atmosphere with a counter seating for 8 people. We ordered 9 types of yakitori, side dishes, fresh squeezed chu-hai, and more. The yakitori, especially the seseri, was thick and tender, and incredibly delicious. It was definitely the most delicious yakitori I've had in Kyoto, even better than the one I had in Amami Oshima that I thought was the best. It's hard to make a reservation, but I definitely want to go back again! #Yakitori #GrilledChicken #YoshidayamaSeseri #Seseri #Negima #Tsukune #Liver #Heart #Gizzard #ChickenWing #Yagen #WagyuTendon #WaterKimumchi #Cucumber #Pineapple #Kiwi #Kyoto #KyotoGourmet #KyotoStation #KyotoDinner #NumberOneInJapan #Shiitake #ThickCut #ThickCutLoversClub

The drink and food are delicious no matter what you order. The prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly. The owner used to operate a food stall, but moved to this location 5 years ago. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, with limited seating for only 8 people. Reservations are required in advance. The drinks are tasty, made with fresh fruits depending on the season. The owner's homemade ponzu sauce adds a special touch to the dishes. The yakitori is flavorful and well-prepared, with each skewer grilled carefully over charcoal. The prices are reasonable at ¥250 per skewer. The staff also provides tips on how to enjoy the food better. A must-visit spot in Kyoto that is worth the effort to make a reservation.

A very popular yakitori restaurant. But the biggest attraction is probably the mama. She is friendly, generous, and efficient. That's why it's so popular, with three turnovers even at night. The son cooks right in front of you with care. It's delicious. I usually prefer salt, but the sauce was also delicious.

Kyoto Station Hachijo Exit, you might need a reservation!! The seats are limited and it's really popular, so you might not be able to get in without one. I love yakitori, and this place has the best yakitori I've ever had. The pieces of meat are big and satisfying, yet tender and juicy. The flavor is also really well-balanced. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. I didn't have much time this time, so I had to eat quickly, but I want to come back and enjoy a proper dinner here. The seseri, negima, and soft bone are all amazing. The homemade potato salad by the lovely mother is also surprisingly delicious. This place is just the best.

■ Overall Rating 71/100 points (Taste: 90 points)
A superb yakitori restaurant representing Kyoto!
■ Store Overview
The store is located about 4-5 minutes from the Hachijo exit (south side) of Kyoto Station. It is a bit secluded with two points lined up, so it's best to check the map before going. The store feels narrow as if it has been expanded to the back. Inside, it is cramped with an 8-person counter where people line up shoulder to shoulder. The store specializes in grilled dishes with a few side dishes for sake. The taste of the grilled dishes is excellent. I think it's the best yakitori restaurant I've ever eaten in the Kyoto area. Thank you for the meal.

◯Side dish by Okan Spinach with sesame dressing
◯Water kimchi It's kimchi made with Chinese cabbage, but it's white kimchi. I wonder how it's made. (Without chili in kimchi?)
◯Grilled items Order and then skewer style. The grilling process involves cutting off the burnt parts with scissors, similar to high-end restaurants. The meat quantity per skewer is about twice the normal amount, so ¥250 per skewer doesn't feel expensive. The salt seasoning is excellent, and the sauce is not too sweet, striking a perfect balance of soy sauce's sharpness and umami.
- Hatsu (heart) salt ◎ Perfect saltiness, enjoy the umami of the heart
- Zuri (gizzards) salt ◎ Crispy and perfectly salted
- Tsukune (meatball) rich sauce ◯ Meaty and delicious like a hamburger
- Yagen (soft bone) salt ◎ Soft bones with plenty of meat, good texture and grilling
- Seseri (chicken neck) sauce ◎ Thicker than normal chicken neck, incredibly juicy with plenty of umami
- Kimo (liver) sauce ◎◎ Excellent freshness, a superb dish that even someone who doesn't like liver can enjoy, better than raw liver, excellent grilling technique
- Negima (chicken thigh with leek) sauce ◎ Plenty of tender thigh meat, perfectly cooked and delicious
- Wagyu suji (Japanese beef tendon) sauce ◎ Crispy on the outside and chewy inside, matching the strong texture, making it easy to eat
■ Cost Evaluation 40/100 points 8 points
- The price of yakitori itself is slightly high, but considering the volume, it seems cheaper than the retail price average (¥169).
- However, the products without listed prices are very expensive, and there is a sense of price opaqueness. Improvement is expected as the lack of transparency in pricing is not ideal for a drinking establishment.

At the narrow yakitori restaurant "Yoshidayama Seseri," customers huddle together at the counter. While waiting for the yakitori, they enjoy the appetizers, which are surprisingly elaborate and delicious. The portions of yakitori are generous, with a flavorful seasoning that pairs well with drinks. The variety of skewers, such as white onion and Kyoto pork, is impressive. The drinks, especially the chu-hai, are meticulously crafted with unique flavors like sansho pepper and strawberry. Despite the simple exterior, this restaurant offers sophisticated dishes and drinks that are both surprising and satisfying. Highly recommended!

This place is amazing! It's been a while since I had such authentic and delicious yakitori. Especially the "seseri," which is also the name of the restaurant, you can tell from the quality of the meat that it's going to be delicious even before it's grilled. The portion size is good too, and at 250 yen each, it's impossible to get a seat without a reservation. The seats are a bit cramped, but it's worth it!

I chose this restaurant because it was only a 2-minute walk from the hotel I stayed at, and I was dining alone that day. I was able to make a reservation even though I was dining alone. The restaurant has a small counter that can seat only about 6 to 8 people. Reservations are required. In the evening, they have shifts at 5:00 PM, 7:00 PM, and 9:00 PM. The yakitori is cooked over charcoal, so it takes a little time, but the specialty dish called "seseri" is delicious and comes in a generous portion. There is a variety of drink options available. And it's cheap! Each yakitori skewer is only 250 yen. Since it takes time to cook, it's better to order in advance. If this restaurant were nearby, I would definitely become a regular customer.
