Hello, it's Gurumani! I stumbled upon a restaurant named after my beloved Mud Turtle! It seems like there are quite a few delicious restaurants in Tsukishima! Perhaps it's because the Tsukiji Market is nearby and they have good ingredients! Upon hearing from a friend that there is a restaurant named after Mud Turtle, I visited in a zombie-like state! The exterior already exudes an irresistibly delicious atmosphere! The interior is also retro and absolutely charming! Looking at the menu, everything looks tempting, but considering the late hour and having already eaten at another place, I decided to go for some lighter options!
- Tatakiki Cucumber: The refreshing salted cucumber at this hour is just irresistible! The cucumber is sliced in a way that allows the sauce to penetrate it thoroughly!
- Shirokoro Sansho Sauce: Absolutely amazing!! The crunchy texture, the sweet and savory sauce, and the generous sprinkling of sansho pepper really make you want to keep drinking!
- Heart (Salt): Just the right amount of chewiness and the saltiness is irresistible! Really makes you want to keep drinking!
- Soft Cartilage (Salt): The crunchy texture of the soft cartilage is just amazing! To be honest, I want to go back right now!
- Tanuki Tsukune (Sauce): This is a must-eat item! Fluffy yet packed, with a crunchy texture inside, and the sauce, I really want to try it with salt!
In the end, I wonder how much I drank at Mud Turtle in such a short time! The soft cartilage was so good that even as I'm writing this, I want to go back! I feel like I want to have a drink alone here after work! This is definitely a place I want to try again as a quick second spot to visit! I have started posting more detailed photos and text on my blog for things that couldn't be included here! Please check it out! The link is in my Instagram profile.

Visited on a weekday around 5:30 pm, no wait time or people in line. The atmosphere was lively with many older customers, and it got busier as the evening went on with people finishing work. The restaurant was bustling and had a good vibe. The mentaiko (spicy cod roe) tamagoyaki was delicious and had a generous portion. The thick asparagus yakitori was soft and tasty. Overall, the food was delicious. I would definitely go back if I have the chance. Thank you for the meal! #Dorogame #Izakaya #MentaikoTamagoyaki #LocalGourmet #TsukishimaGourmet #ChuoWardGourmet #TokyoGourmet

I stopped by a second restaurant recommended by the respected cooking researcher Ryuji-san. Tsukishima is a place where all restaurants close early, but Mudagame was bustling until late at night. I arrived late, so unfortunately, the Shiroro I was looking forward to was sold out. However, there were many delicious-looking menu items, so I tried the simmered dish, nodanankotsu, kashira, and raw tongue meatballs. The nodanankotsu was skewered without being opened, giving it a crunchy texture and juiciness, which was delicious! The kashira was also juicy and had a good bounce to it, simply delicious. The simmered dish was surprisingly not heavy at all, with a light seasoning that went well with alcohol. The raw tongue meatballs had a firm texture with a pleasant chewiness from the tongue, which was really tasty. There were still many appetizers that caught my interest, but the loud group of young people next to us made it hard to hear, so we decided to leave. It's a great atmosphere for those who enjoy a lively and fun environment. Hopefully, I'll encounter Shiroro next time. I should have gone to the first restaurant! Thank you for the meal.

It's been a while since I visited Mud Turtle. Maybe it's been four years. The Negibakatan still maintains its good cost performance and deliciousness. I tried various other dishes as well, but there aren't many misses at this restaurant, which is a great thing. However, for some reason, I often get a hangover from the alcohol, so we always end up discussing the cause with my friends after our visits to Mud Turtle. I highly recommend the mackerel rice ball as the finishing touch!

Let's go for a light meal with some monjayaki and snacks, focusing on drinking sake. It's been 5 years since I last came here in 2017. Despite overcoming the state of emergency, it's impressive to see the place fully packed today. They offer a variety of skewers and are known for their shochu "Dorokame". I received a Dorokame soda and boosted it with the free plum extract on the table. I ordered quite a lot even though I thought I was full.

My recommended restaurant♥ The dishes have a generous portion, delicious taste, and great cost performance♪ And for someone who loves green onions like me, they serve a menu with a crazy amount of green onions. Today, I went there feeling excited to have their motsunabe followed by ramen as a finale. It's a popular spot and was fully booked on Friday night! By the way, the motsunabe in the photo is for one person (lol) It's a lot... (lol) But the motsu is tender♥ The soup is sweet and the flavor of the vegetables is irresistible. In the end, having the ramen as a finish is truly the best! I highly recommend the Crazy Green Onion Tan and Kobukuro Sashimi for those who love green onions!! There are so many green onions on the Crazy Green Onion Tan♥ The green onions on the Crazy Green Onion Tan are delicious enough to be enjoyed as a snack on their own. Also, we usually order the raw tsukune and white sauce as soon as we arrive✨ It's been a while since I last went, but it's still a great restaurant. Located about a 5-minute walk from Tsukishima Station, this restaurant is situated on a street connecting the main avenue in front of the station (Kiyosumi Street) and Monja Street. The interior of the restaurant appears spacious, but the tables and chairs are packed closely together. The small tables are accompanied by round chairs without backrests. Although smoking is not allowed inside, there was a slight smell of cigarettes near the entrance as the door opened and closed.
On this day, I ordered a variety of dishes, including the following menu items (items that were particularly delicious are marked with ◎):
- Beef tataki
- Cucumber and yam salad
- Fried tofu in dashi broth ◎
- Chicken nanban ◎
- Sweet potato tempura
- Mentaiko (spicy cod roe) rolled omelette ◎
- Heart (beef) skewers with salt
- Liver skewers with salt and fresh wasabi ◎
- Chicken meatballs with sauce ◎
- Thick-cut ham cutlet
- Mentaiko and offal hot pot ◎
- Rolled omelette in dashi broth ◎
The speed at which the dishes were served was impressive, and the chicken nanban was generously topped with tartar sauce. The rich and creamy sauce, paired with the sweet and tangy flavor of the chicken, was delightful. The rolled omelette was also delicious, with a generous amount of dashi broth giving a pudding-like texture to the egg. The liver skewers were surprisingly mild in wasabi flavor, complementing the savory and enjoyable texture of the offal. The chicken meatballs were juicy and flavorful, and the sauce was a perfect match. The ham cutlet was crispy with a savory ham filling, and it paired well with ketchup for a touch of acidity. Lastly, the offal hot pot was rich in flavor, with the melted mentaiko adding a nice saltiness to the broth.
Overall, the quality of the offal, fried dishes, and egg dishes was impressive. The value for money was exceptional, and I would definitely love to visit this restaurant again. It is a great place for lovers of casual izakaya dining, and I highly recommend it!

I didn't intend to write a review of Mud Turtle, but I'll post it now. Whenever I go to Tsukishima, I always visit this restaurant because it's my friend's favorite. It's a popular place, so you have to get there early or it will be full quickly. No matter what you order, the food is plentiful and delicious. I think it's a great restaurant where families, friends, colleagues, and couples can casually enjoy a meal together.

Located about a 2-minute walk from Tsukishima Station, "Dorokame" stands out with its bright and large traditional pub sign. The interior is spacious with counter seats, table seats, and even private tatami rooms, creating a lively atmosphere suitable for individuals or large groups. I had made a reservation and arrived at 6 pm to find the place almost full, so I sat at a table and ordered a draft beer. The menu features the restaurant's specialty motsuyaki and robatayaki dishes, as well as classic izakaya fare like tempura and hot pot, catering to a wide range of customers. I had done some research beforehand, so I ordered various dishes. First up was the homemade potato salad with boiled egg, simple yet tasty with a nice touch of onion chips. Next, the kobukuro sashimi was small but had a delightful texture. As the sake flowed, it was time for the motsuyaki. The "Shirokoro with secret sauce" was grilled over charcoal, offering a delicious blend of flavors and textures. The "Shirokoro with salt and fresh wasabi" had a refreshing kick from the wasabi. The "Bakanegi tongue" was a mountain of leeks with a perfect combination of sesame oil and ginger. Lastly, the popular "Mentaiko fried rice" had a unique appearance but was surprisingly flavorful and satisfying. It was a great izakaya for a lively gathering with friends!

On the second stop in Tsukishima, I visited Tsukishima Dorokame for the first time. They have a wide variety of menu options that are both plentiful and reasonably priced. The photos show, in order, salted shiroro with fresh wasabi, salted hatsu (beef heart), and thick grilled asparagus. The beef heart was thick and tender, which was good, but it had a strong smell. Other than that, the food was delicious! I will definitely go back again.

I casually stopped by here. It was a bit late, but I managed to slide in. The counter was somewhat messy, almost like a storage area. Well, that's the charm of a casual bar, right? I started with a draft beer to warm up. Then I tried various grilled offal dishes. Some were sold out, but the ones I had were quite delicious. The offal was grilled crispy and easy to eat. The stew was rich and tasty, even though there was not much of it. Of course, I had to try the shochu named after the restaurant. I ended up ordering too much, but I had a pleasant time. Thank you for the meal.

I always crave for salted beef tongue regularly and enjoy it with alcohol as the main dish!! I couldn't resist ordering it both at the beginning and end of the meal (lol). The thick grilled egg with spicy cod roe also has a satisfying volume ☆彡 When you lift up the egg, the overflowing volume and softness of the cod roe inside is irresistible!! The "Toro mackerel tempura" in the photo is also a favorite dish ☆彡 There are many skewers to enjoy with alcohol, making it a fun izakaya-style restaurant.

I visited this restaurant on a whim over the weekend. The capacity was large so I was able to get in quickly. The customers ranged from young people to hardworking middle-aged salarymen. There was a drunk customer nearby whose loud voice was a bit unbearable, so I asked the staff to either ask them to lower their tone or change my seat, and they responded sincerely, for which I am grateful. The menu had a wide variety of dishes, from light to hearty stews. Is stew a specialty of Tsukishima? A common thing in downtown areas? The stew here was quite rich and delicious. No fishy smell! Also, I unexpectedly got hooked on the fried garlic and kept eating it. The next day was quite a challenge. (laughs) Going to a second bar when you're feeling tipsy might be a good idea. I'd like to explore Tsukishima more.

Today's first stop is at Dorokame, an izakaya specializing in pork hormone skewers. The prices here are very reasonable, and as an Osaka native, I don't really know the typical prices for pork skewers, but these prices definitely feel cheap. It's reminiscent of the kushikatsu in Shinsekai. I ordered skewers of tongue, cheek, liver, and large intestine, with my favorite being the cheek with salt. It has a satisfying chewiness, with delicious flavors that come through as you chew. Mustard is a must. Now onto the second stop, next we'll be heading to a beef hormone restaurant. Thank you for the meal!

A izakaya located very close to Tsukishima Station. This place offers original menus featuring the same barley shochu as Mud Turtle (Dorokame), and their specialty is the motsu-yaki grilled over binchotan charcoal. I visited early for a zero drinking session and ordered several dishes, focusing on their specialty items. I ordered the binchotan-grilled motsu-yaki, shirokoro with secret sauce, shirokoro with salt and fresh wasabi, bakane-gi tan, and tan fresh tsukune with sauce. Each dish was delicious and it was hard to choose the best one. The shirokoro with secret sauce is a must-try. The bakane-gi tan had an absurd amount of green onions piled on top, almost comically so. The tsukune was juicy, with a crispy outer layer that was very tasty. I enjoyed some yam strips with Dorokame Hoppy and Doroball (soda mixed with Dorokame) while leisurely enjoying my zero drinks. The portion sizes for individual dishes are decent, so it's recommended to visit with a group rather than alone. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Went to a restaurant in Monja Street after a Monja tour, where the prices range from 1000 to 2000 yen, and it was a non-smoking or partially smoking establishment. The place had an amazing name and seemed to be loved by regular customers, with a wide selection of drinks including the famous Dobugame shochu. They had all the classic izakaya dishes and a variety of drinks, which made me happy as I love corn tea highballs. The grilled chicken and mentaiko fried rice were delicious and had generous portions. The prices were reasonable, making it a great spot for a quick drink or a leisurely night out. It was quite crowded when I went, but I was able to get a table quickly. The condiment I had with me was in a bottle of alcohol.笑

I love Kinmiya if it's a type A shochu, but Mud Turtle is a delicious shochu with a refreshing aftertaste when mixed with soda. I found a restaurant named Mud Turtle in Tsukishima, so I couldn't resist going in. I sat at a table in the center of the restaurant and ordered the special set called "Droppy" which includes Mud Turtle and Hoppy for 480 yen, and made a toast. I ordered the following items from the menu: - Potato Salad (480 yen) - Horse Mackerel Fry (480 yen) - Grilled Pork Tongue with Sauce (2 pieces for 240 yen) - Grilled Pork Liver with Sauce (2 pieces for 240 yen) - Grilled Pork Belly with Green Onion (2 pieces for 360 yen) Among these, the potato salad was a hit. It had a generous portion and the flavor was classic, without any smoked or pickled ingredients. It was topped with mentaiko, sliced boiled eggs, and plenty of mayonnaise, allowing for various ways to enjoy it. The crispy onion chips added a nice texture. The horse mackerel fry was delicious and fluffy. The grilled pork tongue with sauce was a specialty and the sauce was tasty. The grilled pork belly with green onion was also good, with the delicious oil from the pork belly enhancing the flavor of Mud Turtle. The total cost per person was a little over 1500 yen, and I was satisfied with the meal. I was planning to visit another restaurant afterwards, so finishing the meal at 80% full was perfect. It's a great restaurant. Thank you for the meal. I will definitely come back!

It's been a while since my last visit, so I'll make my first post. This is a place where you can easily enjoy drinking alone. I ordered grilled pork tongue with salt and garlic chives, and it was a good choice to go with salt instead of sauce because the sauce was a bit strong. I ate the quail with its shell, and it was crunchy without any discomfort. The horse liver sashimi seemed a bit old, which was disappointing... Thank you for the meal!

After work, I was invited by a senior colleague for the first time in a while. I initially thought of going for sashimi, but when I peeked inside, it was crowded. I wanted to eat yakitori, so I came here instead. We started with a cheers with draft beer. We ordered three types of chicken skewers (with secret sauce, salt and wasabi, and pepper sauce), potato salad, and chicken nanban. The alcohol was served promptly, which left a good impression. We arrived around 5 pm and there were still plenty of seats available, but by 7 pm it was full. The chicken skewers had a chewy texture similar to gizzards. The secret sauce was sweet, the pepper sauce was spicy, and the salt and wasabi was not as spicy as expected. We finished the beer and moved on to sake. The potato salad had crispy bacon and a peppery flavor, which complemented the alcohol well. The recommended dish was the chicken nanban. The crispy fried chicken thigh with plenty of sweet nanban sauce and tartar sauce was served generously. When eaten with the lettuce, one piece was enough for a whole glass of alcohol. The chu-hai and lemon chu-hai were priced at 380 yen each. There were no overly sweet chu-hais here. They only offered shochu with soda and the choice of lemon slices. It was refreshing and the alcohol went down smoothly. Before we knew it, it was already 8 pm and we ended the meal with clam soup, which was also delicious. We ended up spending over 10,000 yen because we drank a lot, but it was a fun night after a long time. Thank you for the meal.
