I was always curious but couldn't visit during lunch hours from 12:00 to 1:30. When I arrived, the entrance was dark and I was unsure if it was a regular holiday. I hesitated, but then a group of 6 people entered, so I decided to go in. Two more groups followed, all men. Including me, there were 10 people. I ordered the beef sagari and komutan ramen set for 900 yen. Unfortunately, the rice that was supposed to come with it was forgotten and never arrived. It was served to the other customers though. The lady running the place alone couldn't bring up the issue of the missing rice. The curly noodles in the light komutan soup were delicious. The beef sagari was dry and seemed frozen, but the sauce had a traditional yakiniku flavor which was quite good. However, the missing rice was disappointing.

As I age, I find myself not craving meat as much, but I was drawn to the "Beef Hormone Hot Pot Set Meal" menu and decided to stop by. The quiet atmosphere of the restaurant and the friendly service from the hostess were pleasant. I expected a typical beef intestine hot pot, but this was more like a stew. However, it was richly flavored and quite filling. The side dishes of bean sprouts and bamboo shoots were comforting, and I was happy to see multi-grain rice included. It had a Japanese-Korean fusion vibe, and I left satisfied.

Located about a 3-minute walk from Iriya Station, "Yakiniku Restaurant Fujien" is a popular restaurant with a history of about 30 years, loved by locals. While their lunch and delivery yakiniku bento are popular for being affordable, today I came here to enjoy a hearty yakiniku meal. It's still around 6:30 in the evening, so I was the first customer. The interior of the restaurant was filled with autographed photos of celebrities. Today, I wasn't in the mood for alcohol, so I ordered a Calpis soda. They make it with plenty of Calpis concentrate, so it's nice and strong. As a service, they brought out a spring roll salad and white kimchi for 380 yen, which was mild in spiciness. I also ordered their specialty Negi Shio Tan for 980 yen, where you top the meat with plenty of green onions after grilling. The Fujien Assortment, which includes Kalbi, Rosu, and Tareba Bara, was only 1380 yen and was delicious, cooked on a smokeless roaster to minimize odor. The liver was around 600 yen. The meal came with multigrain rice, which we enjoyed with sesame salt. To finish, we had a refreshing cold noodles. It was a reasonably priced and delicious yakiniku restaurant with a nostalgic atmosphere. I might try their lunch menu next time.

[Store Entry] In October 2015, I visited this restaurant for lunch. I was in the Ueno area to take care of some business and decided to stop by for lunch on my way back. The area was unfamiliar to me, with many restaurants I had never seen before. Among them, I noticed a yakiniku restaurant offering lunch sets for around 900 yen. The menu featured items like the popular Comtan Ramen set for 780 yen and other options like Curry Ramen, Kalbi Ramen, and Yakuza Curry. Intrigued by the Comtan Ramen, I decided to give this place a try.
[Interior] Upon entering, I was seated at an empty table and given a menu to look over. I ordered the Comtan Ramen with a regular portion of rice. The interior was dimly lit, creating a Chinese restaurant-like atmosphere. The clientele seemed to be mostly male solo diners, and the place was run by a single staff member.
[Food and Drink] The meal consisted of salad, side dishes, Comtan Ramen, Oi Kimchi, and rice, all served sequentially. The Comtan Ramen had a strong spicy flavor, with tasty vegetables and meat. The rice complemented the soup well. The salad dressing was nothing special, and the homemade side dishes were delicious. The portions were generous and satisfying.
[Overall Impression] After finishing the meal, I paid the bill and noticed they also offered bento boxes for delivery in the area. The eat-in experience was also enjoyable, with ample portions. Overall, it was a satisfying dining experience. Thank you for the meal.

After watching the morning glory festival on 7/6, I was in the mood for yakiniku for lunch. I ended up going a little further past Uguisudani station, away from Uguisudani town. The restaurant had an old-fashioned exterior and interior. The lunch menu offered a choice between a service lunch and a kalbi service lunch, with different types of kalbi to choose from. I opted for the service lunch, which included various side dishes like bean sprout namul, zenmai namul, kakuteki, and seaweed salad. I was glad they had lettuce for wrapping, which I used instead of sangchu. I felt the meat portion was quite small, so I decided to order an additional two servings of spicy kalbi. The meat was not very flavorful, but when wrapped in lettuce with rice and gochujang, it tasted better. I felt the meat portion was still insufficient, so I ordered an additional two servings of spicy kalbi, which turned out to be more like a single serving. The meat had a strong red color, but it wasn't as spicy as expected, more like a tangy flavor. The hoppy drink came in a smaller glass, so three glasses were just enough to finish it.

I went to a yakiniku restaurant for lunch and ordered spicy dishes like kalbi soup and yukgaejang. The restaurant also had a lunch set for 850 yen where you can grill your own meat. I opted for the 700 yen service lunch where you can choose between kalbi, harami, or pork miso. The restaurant had a cozy atmosphere with many signed photos on the walls, including a big picture of the Sanja Matsuri festival in Asakusa. Today, I dined alone and enjoyed a delicious meal of kalbi with namul, kakuteki, macaroni salad, and seaweed soup. The meat was tender and cooked just right. The portion size was perfect for me, but those who want more can opt for the meat upgrade for an additional 200 yen. At the end of the meal, I received a 100 yen discount coupon with an expiration date.

I wanted to eat yakiniku but didn't feel like going far, so I went to a yakiniku restaurant nearby. I had known about this restaurant for a while, but never had the chance to visit. The exterior had a slightly dim atmosphere, making it a bit intimidating to enter. Inside, it had a nostalgic old-fashioned restaurant feel. I visited on a Friday and they had a special on premium yakiniku, offering a few types at a discounted price. The appetizer was moyashi and cabbage. I ordered Fujien Salad, Negi Tan Shio, Upper Harami, Rice, and Oolong Tea. The Fujien Salad had leafy vegetables with French dressing, refreshing and delicious. The Negi Tan Shio was a service item on the menu, thinly sliced tongue with a good texture. The Upper Harami was tender and the sauce was tasty. I also ordered Nakaochi Kalbi and Spicy Kalbi (wanted to order Upper Rib but it was sold out). The Nakaochi Kalbi was thinly sliced with cuts in between, showing attention to detail. The taste was great, typical of Kalbi. The Spicy Kalbi looked very red and spicy, but it was manageable and the meat flavor was still prominent. The restaurant had an old-fashioned vibe, but it seemed like a yakiniku place loved by the local community. I was pleasantly surprised and satisfied with my experience.

This Fujien restaurant seems to be part of a collaboration with the "Gochiben" bento delivery service. I found out about it from a flyer.
- What I received:
Gourmet Bento (400 yen)
It looks just like the photo. There is also a larger "Body Balance Bento (500 yen)" available. It's a menu that kids would enjoy! It's not the typical menu with fried chicken, hamburger, and spaghetti, but rather includes some healthier options. The contents seem to change daily. It's a gentle menu, so it seems suitable for elderly people as well. The prices are a bit more gentle compared to convenience store bentos (slightly higher than those at Seiyu or My Basket)...but considering that it's a bento from a small, independent restaurant, it's quite affordable. My husband felt like it wasn't enough, so he ended up eating some cup noodles that we had at home (past their expiration date). If it helps local restaurants even a little bit...I plan to continue using takeout bentos.
