During the three-day weekend in November 2020, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, I decided to visit Showa Kinen Park to see the autumn leaves, thinking that it wouldn't be crowded enough to pose a risk. The weather was great and there were quite a lot of people. When I arrived around 11:30 am, the restaurant was almost full. I quickly purchased my meal ticket from the vending machine. The pricing was interesting - for example, a Margherita pizza was 710 yen as a single item, but if you got it in a set with a draft beer and salad, it was 1,020 yen. The beer was 600 yen and the salad was 310 yen, so buying them separately would cost 1,620 yen, but in the set, you save 600 yen. That means the beer is basically free. I decided to get the beer set with Margherita pizza, along with some fried chicken for 560 yen and fried potatoes for 410 yen. Each ticket had a number, and when that number appeared on the display above the kitchen, it meant your order was ready. You would exchange your ticket for the food. Just like at Matsuya with gyudon, half of the ticket served as a receipt, which they would tear off and give back to you. The chicken, potatoes, and salad were ready quickly, but the pizza took a bit longer as it was baked in a special oven. When I went to pick it up, the hot pizza was ready. It was quite large, with tomato sauce, mozzarella, and basil - a true Margherita. The crust was thin but chewy and delicious. For a pizza you can eat in a park, it was quite satisfying. After a relaxing meal and a full stomach, I strolled around the park. Thanks to this pizza, my holiday was truly enjoyable. Thank you for the meal.
