Dream Min. A legendary curry restaurant that used to be in Nishi-Waseda. At that time, I was not yet enlightened by curry and passed by the long line, heading to university. Eventually, I became enlightened by eating and making curry, but Dream Min had already closed (in 2012), and I regretted not trying it back then. Despite trying Mita no Columbus and Chao Curry Shinjuku, I always wondered how the original Dream Min curry tasted. Suddenly, news spread in 2015 that Dream Min was making a comeback at Odaiba's food court. I couldn't visit Odaiba easily as I was living in Osaka, but I finally made a pilgrimage there during a business trip and was overwhelmed by the beloved Popeye Bacon curry. I visited a couple more times, but sadly, it closed again due to the pandemic. Now, it is said to be reopening in Toranomon. Today, I had a meeting in Nishi-Shimbashi. The project could have been handled online, but I insisted on a face-to-face meeting, hoping for a reunion with Dream Min. The ordering system was modern with tablets, but the aroma was unmistakably Dream Min. I ordered Bacon Egg, spice level 1, and extra large rice (300g). Each order was carefully cooked and served with onions, raisins, rice, a pot filled with bacon, cabbage, and curry sauce. The tomato-based curry with complex spices was unbelievably delicious and spicy even at level 1. I had to add another 100g of rice because it was so good. Surprisingly, it tasted even better than in Odaiba. Maybe it was the quiet atmosphere of the restaurant that allowed me to fully appreciate the flavors. I also tried the dessert, Chai Cheese Pudding, which was also delicious. And of course, I ended with the Lioness Coffee Candy. I left the restaurant feeling like I was dreaming. I might find myself visiting my client in Nishi-Shimbashi more often. If you haven't tried it, be sure to visit Dream Min!
