During my visit to Kyoto, I make sure to choose restaurants that serve Western cuisine using Kyoto ingredients. The dish with Kujon negi (a type of green onion) and duck meat was amazing. I even finished all the sauce. I was looking forward to the Aqua Pazza with sea bream, but I found out that I needed to make a reservation in advance. What a disappointment!

Located about a 10-minute walk from Karasuma Oike Station, this Italian restaurant is known for its difficulty in making reservations. However, this time we were able to secure a reservation. The interior is stylish and has a calm atmosphere, with a touch of kindness for families. The highlight of the dishes is the exceptional handling of cheese, which makes this place stand out among other Italian restaurants. The food is truly delicious, which explains why it's so hard to get a reservation. From side dishes like olives to main courses like meat and even desserts, the quality is unmatched. I definitely want to go back again.

My friend made a reservation for my birthday celebration. The interior of the restaurant was a bit dim but had a lovely ambiance. The salmon and yam appetizer was delicious. I had the squid ink pasta, which was spicy but tasty. It might be too spicy for children. The omelette was also delicious and served piping hot.

The small shop is a hidden gem where you might hesitate at the entrance for a moment. The interior has only 5 seats at the counter, creating a cozy atmosphere. I visited on a weekday night and the place was almost full, indicating its popularity. The dishes were brought out one by one and overall had a rich flavor that paired well with alcohol. The tables are not very large, so ordering everything at once can quickly fill up the table. It seemed like they only have one dinner service per day, as there was no turnover of customers and towards the end, it was almost like a private dining experience where you could relax.

Last night, I enjoyed a delicious Italian meal with my former colleagues, accompanied by tasty wine. The aqua pazza with red snapper was incredibly delicious, and the Ozaki beef steak was also amazing. The pasta towards the end was so good that I forgot to take a picture. Thank you for the happy time surrounded by lovely people. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

I visited the restaurant after a long time. It's always fully booked, so it's quite popular. This time, we managed to get a table with a late entry at 8 pm. With 2 people, we had 2 appetizers, 1 pasta, and 1 main dish, and we were full. The portion size of each dish is large, so sharing with 2 people is just right. The taste is consistently good. There was no overwhelming excitement like in my first visit in 2020, but all the dishes are delicious. Also, the craft beer was incredibly tasty.

I ordered three dishes and they all had a cohesive flavor profile, which I thought was great. The Salmon and Long Yam Tartare with Onsen Tamago for 2,000 yen had a clear and refreshing tartare. The Omelette with Scamorza in a cocotte for 900 yen had a nice texture and a hint of Japanese flavor in the seasoning. I also had the Peperoncino pasta, which wasn't on the menu but they kindly made it for me. It had a good balance of garlic aroma and spicy chili, with a creamy sauce that wasn't too dry.

It's been about 9 years since my family and I first visited this Italian restaurant. I couldn't forget the salmon tartare I had back then, so I decided to come back after such a long time. When we arrived, I noticed that the atmosphere had changed a bit due to renovations. The restaurant was packed, with a waiting list even though it had just opened at 6 pm. We were lucky to get a table due to a last-minute cancellation. The menu consisted of small plates, appetizers, pasta, and main courses, with most people ordering one dish from each category for two people. However, since there were three of us, we decided to order based on our instincts. We ordered: - Buffalo mozzarella with tomato jelly (¥800) - Highly recommended - Salmon and yam tartare (¥2000) - Good - Charcoal-grilled Miyazaki beef shoulder loin (¥3400) - Highly recommended - Buccatini all'amatriciana (¥1600) - Good - Vegetable and Parmesan cheese risotto (¥2200) - Highly recommended - Roasted Kyoto pork loin (¥3500) - Good - Bread (¥200 each) - Good - Craft beer (¥800 each) - Good - Red wine (¥1000) - Good - Australian white grape juice (¥600) The mozzarella with tomato jelly was outstanding, and the risotto with crunchy vegetables was excellent. However, the salmon tartare did not live up to my expectations from before. The roasted pork loin was good but nothing special. One mistake we made was ordering too many dishes individually, causing the main course to arrive last after the risotto. The charcoal-grilled beef shoulder loin, positioned as an appetizer, was sufficient for us. Overall, the food was delicious, and it's no surprise coming from a restaurant with skilled chefs. The prices had increased compared to before, but we left satisfied and will definitely come back. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

It was so delicious! I haven't had such tasty mozzarella in a long time, and the freshly shaved prosciutto was amazing. The taro and salmon tartare paired really well together. The cheese risotto had a lot of vegetables and not much cheese, so next time I'll try a different pasta. The meat was also delicious, but the portions were huge and I ended up feeling really full and uncomfortable at the end. I will definitely come back here again, it's worth a repeat visit.

I went to an Italian restaurant recommended by the head chef of a famous Japanese restaurant I haven't been to in a while. It was amazing. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. It's best to order about 4 dishes for two people, but we ended up ordering too much and our stomachs are full. I think 5 dishes for three people would be just right. The price is also good, around 10,000 yen for two people.

Ryuen, recommended by the head chef of a famous Japanese restaurant, offers delicious a la carte dishes. The Parmigiano risotto, loaded with vegetables and served with a big chunk of cheese at the table, is a must-try! So delicious! ❤️

I enjoyed the deliciousness that made me groan after a long time. This small Italian restaurant on Sanjo Street is quite popular despite the current situation. We ordered 3 appetizers, 3 pasta dishes, and 1 main dish for 5 people. Initially, we were going to order another main dish, but the staff advised us against it, so we stopped laughing. It seems that the main dish takes some time, so it's better to order it first. First, the prosciutto. It's absolutely delicious. The saltiness is just right, and it's moist and very tasty. All 3 pasta dishes are delicious as well. In short, the balance of flavor and texture is incredibly wonderful. Overall, everything was delicious, and it's a very satisfying Italian restaurant.

I always enjoy the calm and modern atmosphere of this Italian restaurant, where you can feel the changing seasons. This time, I invited a younger friend, so we tried different dishes than usual. The risotto served in a large wheel of cheese was a delightful surprise. Even though I usually don't prioritize Instagram-worthy dishes, my heart danced with joy. I also recommend the Ozaki beef steak, which is tender and filled with sweetness and umami. And you can't miss the adult flavors of the desserts. I haven't been able to visit recently due to the pandemic, but I look forward to going back after it's over.

I visited this place for the first time, which I had been curious about for a while. They offer a la carte menu without courses, so you can choose your favorite dishes. Located in Sanjo, Kyoto, the restaurant has an impressive traditional Japanese exterior with wooden lattice. Inside, you can feel the warmth of wood and enjoy a cozy and natural atmosphere. I sat at the counter seat that I had requested in advance. Here is what I had: Kyoto Brewery draft beer, Reviving Eagle Ginger Ale, Alsace white wine, Sicilian carrot and apple juice, green salad, prosciutto, Yamaoka eggplant and tomato coulis, seared natural sea bream with yuzu pepper, seafood, spaghetti with buffalo mozzarella, and tomato and basil spaghetti. The food was overall simple and light, with many dishes incorporating a Japanese taste. The ingredients were fresh, with vegetables delivered directly from farms and the sea bream being wild-caught. I wanted to try the Aqua Pazza or roasted pork as the main dish, but unfortunately, I was told that the sea bream dish uses a whole fish and the pork dish is 350 grams, so I had to pass on them. The portion size is quite large, so it's better to visit with three or more people if you want to try a variety of dishes. I would like to visit again in the future.

Ryuen Sama - An Italian restaurant that stays open until late hours. They have both counter and table seating, creating a nice atmosphere. They pay attention to their drinks, which is surprising (although they don't have domestic beer, they have a good selection of wines). The food is firmly based on Italian cuisine but with amazing twists and charms. Dishes like roasted pork loin and Ozaki beef ragu are excellent. Perhaps the best in Kyoto... I will definitely visit again.

One day, for the second place to visit, I thought of "ryuen" in the Shijo-Karasuma, Oike area for a late-night option. You can enjoy pasta or small dishes, indulge in prosciutto and wine, and also savor dessert and coffee. It's a versatile place that I have been going to regularly. On this day, I had foie gras omelette, pasta, cheese risotto, and dessert. Everything was really delicious, and there is a consistent quality every time I visit. I really want to settle in at this place from the first place next time (how many times have I said this! haha)

On the way back from a business trip to Osaka, I stopped by ryuen for their annual lamb chop, which I always look forward to. I made a reservation the day before, and it seemed like those without reservations were being turned away, so booking in advance is essential, especially for early time slots. Even though the menu and staff may change slightly each year, the lamb chop never disappoints in terms of taste. This year, I also enjoyed the horse meat carpaccio (belly meat) and duck liver pate. The duck liver pate had more depth in flavor compared to the previous rabbit liver pate, and I definitely want to try both of these dishes again next time.
