Dairy and eggs are not used. They use domestically sourced wheat and natural yeast to create gentle donuts with a focus on ingredients. As someone without allergies, I don't feel the need for such dedication at the expense of taste. Personally, I felt it was lacking, but the rest of my family says they are satisfied and have no complaints.

I visited during the daytime on a regular day. The shop is small and cute, but it gets crowded so people line up outside. The taste is light and fluffy, not heavy like typical donuts, giving a healthy impression that would appeal to women. I want to try the lemon flavor next time! ^_^

Nikotto & Mamu Urami Oike store @ Urami Oike - I found an interesting shop right in front of me when I left "Jijibaba Kiba-tei" to research the legendary Neapolitan donuts made with natural yeast. According to Google Maps, it is a shop that offers "natural yeast donuts," so I decided to investigate. The compact shop has a counter seat and a showcase facing each other. They offer 6-8 types of donuts from a total of 15 different flavors on a daily basis. Today, I ordered the chocolate flavor. The chocolate scent was delightful, and the donut had a fluffy and chewy texture. It was delicious. Their website mentions that they do not use eggs or milk, but instead use natural yeast, rice koji (from Sasaki Sake Brewery in Kyoto), and Hokkaido wheat. I will definitely consider getting some as souvenirs next time. Nikotto & Mamu 604-0842 Kyoto, Nakagyo-ku, Kurumayacho, 109-1, Telephone: 075-223-3630

Orange and marmalade cost 300 yen each. The orange one tastes like marmalade. Blueberry goes well with cream. Bagels are a classic, but they are a bit expensive. The price of flour has gone up, so it can't be helped. I think regular donuts would be fine. It's a bit of a hassle since they don't have the Kyoto Tower sandwich anymore, but I'll come back if I happen to be nearby. Thank you for the meal.

I remembered eating the chocolate-covered one before, so this time I decided to try the regular one as a detour. The donuts are not much different from those sold in local bakeries, but I think they are good as one of the few donut specialty shops in Kyoto. What's more, they have good nutritional values with low calories and fat.

Eating around Kyoto and not getting full, because my companion can't eat much. I heard they were the "King of Gluttony" but they can't eat much. Maybe I should have a donut before dinner to fill up a bit. They were sold out of some flavors because we were late. I got the plain, chocolate, and Earl Grey (non-caffeinated) for 400 yen each. The donuts had a light texture and were not too heavy. The simple flavors were easy to eat, even if you're not a fan of overly sweet treats.

Today, I went on a food tour in Kyoto with a friend. We visited Nicott & Mum as per my friend's request. The shop is located about a 5-minute walk north from Karasuma Oike Station on the Kyoto Municipal Subway. The shop, renovated from a traditional Kyoto townhouse, has a relaxed and calm atmosphere. After walking a lot, I felt like having something sweet. So, I chose a matcha milk doughnut (250 yen) and an iced caramel latte (480 yen) for the ultimate sweet combination. The doughnut, made with natural yeast, had a fluffy and chewy texture with a gentle taste. Coated with matcha milk, it was indeed sweet. The caramel latte, topped with lots of whipped cream and caramel, was also very sweet. The doughnut itself had a simple flavor, so a plain one without coating would be a taste that you can enjoy every day without getting tired of it.

・Located in Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto City, I've been receiving these donuts as souvenirs more often lately. They are undeniably delicious, so I decided to go buy some for myself after a long time. They often sell out early and close the shop, but on this rainy day, there were various flavors of donuts lined up even in the evening. Plain 220 yen - Soft and fluffy, not too sweet, and delicious. It's light, so you can finish it in no time. Sakura 270 yen - Topped with plenty of cherry blossom salt-pickled glaze, it has a good balance of sweetness and saltiness, making it quite substantial. Maple 240 yen - The topping here is not too heavy, making it relatively easy to eat. This time, I was served by a very polite staff member. I like the simplicity of the plain donut with soybean flour.

Kyoto is a shop located in a small alley a little north of Oike Street. It's a donut specialty store that seems to be quite popular, with takeout customers coming one after another. On this day, I arrived right at the opening at 11 o'clock for eat-in. There are 4 seats available. A very gentle male staff member greeted me. I chose the "Strawberry Donut with Strawberry Bits" for 240 yen and a blend coffee for 400 yen from the 10 types of donuts lined up. It has plenty of freeze-dried strawberries, but the sweetness is restrained and delicious. I would like to visit again to try a different type.

Visited around 11:30. Located right near Karasuma Oike Station. Donuts that are gentle on the body. There were so many varieties that it was hard to choose. The soy milk donut had a rich flavor without the typical soy milk taste, and I was amazed to find out later that the calories were really low. Highly recommended. Thank you for the meal.

Nikotto & Mamu is a popular donut shop. I visited their store in Karasuma Oike because I had previously bought delicious donuts at their Kyoto Tower Sand store. The traditional townhouse-style exterior is charming. The display case is filled with colorful and cute donuts, making it hard to choose. I bought the Raspberry (270 yen) and Matcha Milk (250 yen) donuts. The Matcha Milk has a gentle sweetness with a nice balance of matcha bitterness and white chocolate. The Raspberry donut is full of fruity flavor and has a fluffy and chewy texture. It's not too sweet and very delicious.

This is in Kyoto. The shop is located a little up from Oike-dori, near Karasuma Oike. I happened to pass by the shop and my feet stopped, so I decided to visit. Inside the shop, there were rows of delicious-looking doughnuts. And in the back, doughnuts were being made one after another. So I bought one of each type of doughnut available for sale. There were sugar-coated traditional ones, ones coated with various types of chocolate, and ones sprinkled with crushed nuts. The texture was firm, similar to bread. They were very satisfying to eat! I tried various flavors, but in the end, I liked the most traditional sugar-coated doughnut the best. So if I have the chance to buy again, I might just go for that one.

Nikotto and Mum is a donut shop in Kyoto. I had tried to visit before in the afternoon, but they were sold out. So this time, I made sure to go in the morning. I arrived around 11:30 AM, but surprisingly they were already sold out of custard whip donuts. This time, I tried the plain, matcha chocolate, mocha, and kinako (soybean flour) flavors. They were not too sweet and perfect with tea or coffee. The donuts are not heavy or overwhelming, so you can eat as many as you want. They have a variety of flavors, so next time I will try the cream-filled one for sure!

First visit! A donut shop in Karasuma Oike. All the donuts had a fluffy texture and were delicious. There were many flavors to choose from, making it a great option for a small gift. If I have the chance to come back to the area, I would definitely consider buying some again.

Located a 3-minute walk from Kyoto Municipal Subway Karasuma Oike Station, this shop has no parking lot. They specialize in egg-free, body-friendly donuts made with natural yeast. The exterior is a renovated traditional Kyoto townhouse. Inside, there is a small space with a donut showcase on the right and a few counter seats on the left. They operate on a one-drink order system and offer eat-in options, but due to the small space, it may not be ideal for leisurely eating when it gets crowded. Therefore, I opted for takeout today. I ordered the Plain for 180 yen tax included, Honey for 210 yen tax included, and the daily special Caramel and Walnut Donut for 250 yen tax included. The Plain donut embodies the shop's signature fluffy and chewy texture. The Honey donut is generously coated with honey. The daily special with caramel and walnuts is a delightful trio of flavors. Each donut was delicious and reasonably priced. I look forward to visiting again to try more of their donut varieties.

I happened to pass by this small cozy shop on a regular day and got some takeout. It's a charming shop with a traditional Kyoto townhouse atmosphere. They use egg-free natural yeast for their doughnuts. The Maple doughnut has a crispy maple sugar glaze coating and a moist sweetness with a fluffy and chewy texture - delicious! The Cinnamon doughnut has a stronger cinnamon flavor than expected, with a spicy sweetness and a chewy texture that's just perfect. The Chocolate and Matcha Milk doughnuts have a crunchy chocolate coating that crumbles as you bite into it, but the fluffy and chewy dough inside is tasty. I preferred the glaze over the chocolate coating! I really liked the Maple and Cinnamon flavors. I'd like to try the Plain doughnut next time. Thank you for the meal.

- Plain: ¥180 ★★★
- Iced tea: ¥410 ★★★
- Other notes: No complimentary water. Wet wipes provided. Restroom availability unknown. No charging outlets. Good customer service. Average cleanliness. Shoes can be kept on. It was not crowded, depending on the time of day.
- Information from the store: It takes up to 12 hours from the start of production for Nicott & Mum's donuts to be displayed in the store. The rich flavor of wheat and natural yeast blend together through slow fermentation at low temperatures, resulting in a gentle taste and a chewy texture that Japanese people like. These are one-of-a-kind donuts made only in their own workshop.
- Only one donut can be purchased when dining in the store. The cute paper bag that can only fit one donut was handmade, and a female staff member mentioned, "We make the paper bags ourselves." (2021.08.30.)

Nikot Mam's donuts at the Karasuma Oike store. I had soba at Owariya and stopped by here on the way back. This donut shop is also found at Kyoto Sand. I bought the following donuts: Plain for 180 yen, Maple for 210 yen, Tamba black bean kinako for 200 yen, and Chocolate for 210 yen. The dough is chewy and not too sweet, very delicious. You can eat as many as you want. Especially recommended because they are not greasy. Today, I didn't buy it, but they have a "daily donut" available. The daily special seemed to have cheese in it, but I'm not a big fan of cheese so I passed. I'm a little interested in the daily specials. Next time, I'll go get the daily special.
