There are a few rice dishes in addition to grilled dishes. The new menu includes cucumber pickles, chicken nanban, and satsuma-age. The Hakata specialty torikawa is 10 pieces for 1980 yen, which is more cost-effective when ordered together. The negima has large pieces of meat, providing a satisfying bite. The bonjiri has a subtle miso-like flavor.

I stopped by because I was curious before meeting up. It was disappointing that the specialty chicken skin came in sets of 5 with only sauce or salt flavors. Personally, I found the taste of other skewers to be more delicious. The service from the staff was good.

Torikawa was my first time trying it, and it was very easy to eat because it had little fat. We went with 5 people and ordered 80 skewers. The other skewers, such as pork belly, bacon, shishito peppers, were all delicious! It's rare these days, but smoking is allowed.

Visited around 19:30☺︎ on a Friday and the place was almost full. I made a reservation around 15:00 on the same day, so as long as you have a reservation, you should be able to get in, but the interior is quite small. Whether you choose the counter or a table, it's pretty cramped, so some people may need to be selective. ♥︎ Hakata Torikawa (salt and sauce) ♥︎ Simmered quail ♥︎ Shiitake mushrooms ♥︎ Ume suisho The appetizer is cabbage. It's okay to eat if it's there, but it's not particularly delicious. The alcohol comes quickly, but the food takes a bit of time. The Ume suisho is small! It's not expensive at 380 yen, but it may feel a bit pricey for what you get as mentioned in reviews. Hakata Torikawa uses skin with low subcutaneous fat and removes excess fat, so it's supposed to be healthy, and it does give off the impression of being low in fat. It's quite crispy, and if you just have one, it may not be very filling, but it's definitely on the healthier side. It's more like a snack. The shiitake mushrooms were tastier than the simmered quail. The shiitake mushrooms had the most satisfying taste. It seems like a good place to hop around for a few drinks and snacks rather than being the first stop.

Second stop on the Yotsuya tour in July 2022. I was intrigued by the name and decided to give it a try. I ordered several dishes, mainly focusing on chicken skin. There were two types of chicken skin available, and I tried both. They were priced at around 1000 yen for 5 pieces, but the quality and effort put into them were evident. I was satisfied with the chicken skin, so I decided to pay promptly and leave.

Crispy chicken skin. This flavor is truly addictive.

I had always been curious about "Hakata Torikawa" when passing by Takada ya Masayoshi during lunchtime. I had never tried it before. One day, I saw a sign that said "Takeout available" and decided to buy it. It cost 2948 yen for 15 pieces. They are chicken neck skin wrapped around a skewer, cooked seven times over five days to reduce the fat. I reheated it at home. It had a crispy and chewy texture, with a sweet and salty flavor and a refreshing yuzu sauce. Although it was a bit pricey at almost 200 yen per piece, considering the effort put into it, it seemed reasonable. I also received a discount coupon for my next takeout visit, so I might go back again (laughs).

When I first tried grilled chicken skin in Fukuoka, I was amazed. The chicken skin was tightly wrapped around a long skewer, and I ended up ordering 5 or 10 skewers and finishing them all. I thought regional foods were interesting, and a few years ago, this dish made its way to Yotsuya as well. Now there are multiple branches, so I guess it's doing well. It's a yakitori restaurant that specializes in chicken skin, with several locations in Tokyo. You start by deciding how many skewers of chicken skin you want, then think about other dishes. I started with 3 skewers, enjoyed some yakitori and simmered dishes for about an hour, and then left. It was a nice way to take a break during these times.

However, it seems that the preparation of chicken skin is done in Fukuoka. It is said to be baked over 7 times for 5 days. An incredible amount of effort. And apparently, the price of chicken skin preparation in Fukuoka is half the price compared to Tokyo. It is priced at just under 1,000 yen for 5 pieces. Not cheap haha. The seasoning options include yuzu sauce and shichimi pepper, as desired. I'm not very experienced in the world of chicken skin, so I can't rank this restaurant, but it was quite delicious. The surface was slightly crispy while the inside was moist. I also tried the cabbage on the side, which served as a dressing replacement. Yuzu sauce, dashi soy sauce, and others were also available as needed. However, I personally enjoyed it without adding anything, just savoring the saltiness of the chicken skin. I had a highball for the first drink and a homemade coffee shochu on the rocks for the second, which was surprisingly good. Additionally, I tried the miso harami (pork belly marinated in miso) and bonjiri (fatty chicken tail). The bonjiri had a unique taste different from the usual crispy texture. The level of doneness was well thought out. Finally, I had a lemon sour for my last drink. Since my companion had informed me that they were already on their way to the restaurant I had reserved, it was time to head out. However, the chicken skin is rich in collagen, which is supposed to be good for the skin, yet there were no female customers when I visited. It might be considered refreshing in a way, but I also thought there might be room for improvement. The staff were quite handsome as well. Maybe there's potential for attracting a different clientele. Good luck!

Exit from the No. 2 exit of Yotsuya Station on the Tokyo Metro Namboku Line and walk along Shinjuku Street to the right without crossing the first intersection. Turn right at the first alley and the shop is located about 10 meters ahead. While the main focus is on yakitori, the specialty here is the Hakata specialty "torikawa," which is thinly wrapped skin grilled until the surface is crispy. With its crunchy texture, it gives the impression of being low in fat, but it is well-seasoned with sauce, making it a good match for sour-based drinks rather than sake. The standard order is a set of 5 or 10 skewers, but they also accommodate smaller orders. However, the skewers are not particularly large in quantity, and around 5 skewers can quickly disappear, so some people choose to order 10 skewers from the start. Personally, I prefer to order a smaller amount and try other skewers, but if you want to try something other than the usual yakitori, this place comes highly recommended.

Located in Yotsuya, Torikawa is a unique and easily accessible restaurant from the station. A must-try here is the classic Torikawa 10-piece set, with perfectly grilled chicken skin that provides a satisfying chewy texture. With a wide variety of drinks and appetizers available, this place is recommended for those who enjoy a good drink along with their meal.

I recently heard about a restaurant where you can try "torikawa" and decided to check it out. The place was quite busy on a weekday night, almost full. There were some drunk customers adding to the chaotic atmosphere. I ordered the "torikawa" set of five pieces, which is a dish made by repeatedly marinating and grilling chicken skin, different from regular yakitori. It has a crispy exterior and a chewy interior, with a special sauce to go with it. They also offer unlimited cabbage as a side dish, with announcements for more before it runs out. The service was good, and the staff paid attention to the customers. Although it was a bit pricey, the food was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I ordered the specialty dish even though I don't like it, but it was slimy and still tasted bad, disappointing. Started with a 300 yen charge, 8 skewers of yakitori, grilled pig's feet, smashed cucumber, draft beer, and a strong highball, cost around 4,000 yen! Terrible cost performance. The impression is a restaurant where the taste is bad and does not match the price.

There is a delicious restaurant in Yotsuya that specializes in Hakata specialty "torikawa". Currently, there are about 6 stores in Tokyo. Just recently, they opened another store in Yotsuya called "Hanare". The location is a 2-minute walk from Yotsuya Station on the JR Chuo Line and Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line, down Shinmiri Street, just past the Western-style restaurant "Bambi" on the left. I visited with a colleague around 7:30 pm. The restaurant has a total of 25 seats, with 7 counter seats and 18 table seats. Since the tables were full, we were seated at the counter. We ordered the famous "torikawa" set of 5 skewers for 930 yen. The Hakata specialty "torikawa" is made using only the skin from the neck, a unique method from Hakata that involves carefully rolling it up and grilling it seven times over three days. It's quite a labor-intensive dish. In addition, we also ordered bonjiri (190 yen for 2 skewers), miso harami (280 yen for 2 skewers), tsukune (250 yen for 2 skewers), pork belly (200 yen for 2 skewers), negima (280 yen), stuffed mushroom (320 yen), and potato salad. The "torikawa" was delicious, with a crispy exterior and juicy interior without too much fat. Personally, I prefer skewers with a bit more fat content. The stuffed mushroom was a bit pricey but tasty. The pork belly and other skewers were decent, but the cost performance was not the best. However, the service was good, and I would recommend it to those who love "torikawa". Enjoy your meal!

In the past, I couldn't forget the sweet and savory "kawa" I ate in Hakata, so after a meeting, three of us came here. Lately, we've been ordering the course of yakitori, so ordering a la carte was a refreshing change. We started with beer, 20 pieces of kawa with sauce, 10 pieces of kawa with salt, and around 10 other skewers. We also ordered potato salad, pickles, and everything was delicious. The sauce was not too sweet, which I liked, but I think a slightly sweeter sauce would be more popular. It was about 70% full on a Saturday night, so it seemed like a good atmosphere. We ate a lot, so the price was probably around 5,000 yen, which is reasonable. If I have the chance, I will come again.

I entered the restaurant near Yotsuya Station while listening to the sound of the bell from Sophia University's chapel. It felt like a stylish town as I enjoyed a delicious beer and ate crispy chicken skin, both of which were amazing.

The taste was delicious as usual, but I thought the bill was a bit high. When I ordered 3 chicken skin skewers, I was charged for 5 skewers. I wondered if it was just a mistake by the staff. I wish they had mentioned that the price is the same regardless of the quantity ordered. One star deducted.

Gomasabatokikawa was delicious! In particular, the latter was slightly better in quality and flavor than the one I had at Hakata Station. I didn't have much time to try more dishes, but next time I want to sit down and enjoy the food.

I enjoyed the flavors of Hakata such as sesame mackerel and pork belly at Torikawa! The chicken skin was crispy and juicy, the sesame mackerel had a fresh mackerel taste, and the pork belly was delicious with onions in Hakata style. The yakitori was also tasty, especially the tsukune and ponjiri.
