I visited for lunch when I had some time. I ordered the tantanmen (regular) for 850 yen. The noodles were quite thin, which I liked. The soup was relatively spicy. There was no peanut flavor, and the minced meat was generously placed on top of the noodles. The spicy soup was delicious, and I finished it all. It was simple but good. What caught my attention more was that almost all the other customers were ordering fried rice. The lettuce fried rice and the crab meat sauce fried rice seemed to be popular choices.

It's been a while since I visited this restaurant. I had the Tan Tan Men and the Crab Ankake Fried Rice. The Tan Tan Men had medium-thin noodles with a smooth texture, and the soup had plenty of minced white leeks and meat, making it creamy, gentle, flavorful, and light. You can adjust the spiciness to your liking with powdered red pepper, bean paste, and XO sauce, but be careful not to splash it on your clothes. The Crab Ankake Fried Rice had a delicious crab flavor and moist fried rice. If you prefer fluffy fried rice, I recommend the lettuce fried rice. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I was disappointed that they stopped selling beer because it wasn't selling well. I really enjoyed having beer with my meal. I hope they bring it back. The restaurant only has counter seats. The lettuce fried rice is just like regular fried rice. The regular customers used to say that. Whenever I went, there would be a line forming.

I visited the restaurant for lunch and ordered tantanmen noodles and crab fried rice. The total was around 1400 yen. I thought it was a bit of a flashy move after going to the gym, but it had been a long time (5 years) since I last visited, so I thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was as elegant and delicious as ever, with just the right amount of saltiness. The fried rice was fluffy and the crab sauce was just right. I'm full and satisfied.

The restaurant opened at 11:30, and when we arrived at 11:31, there were only 4 seats left as the place was already quite crowded. All the customers before us had ordered the cold tantanmen noodles. The customers who came after us ordered the hot tantanmen noodles. Interestingly, it seemed like all the customers (although it could have been just that day) who came in pairs ordered regular size fried rice, while those dining alone ordered the small size. The restaurant was full within 10 minutes of opening, and only accepted cash payments. The cold tantanmen noodles we ordered were served at 11:45. They were delicious, with plenty of minced meat and onions in a spicy yet sweet soup. The thin, flat noodles went perfectly with the cold soup. Mixing in some XO sauce and bean paste on the table added an extra kick to the flavor. The lettuce fried rice we shared was a favorite for both my husband and me. The seasoning and texture were unbeatable, and the generous portion of ingredients made it even better.

I stopped by after visiting Renge-ji Temple. The interior of the restaurant only has a counter, and even though I arrived before noon, it was almost full. By the time I finished eating, there was a line forming outside. The taste is mild with little to no strong flavors. Personally, I wished it had a bit more spiciness, but you can adjust the taste using the condiments provided on the table, so it was still delicious enough.

What is this! This is different from the Dan Dan noodles I had imagined! The creamy soup was very refreshing, rather than the usual spicy flavor. The chashu, which was soft and tender, also scored very high. The side dish of lettuce stir-fry was also deliciously crispy. Personally, I think this might be the best Dan Dan noodles I've ever had.

I ordered tantanmen with rice. By providing the necessary elements for tantanmen while eliminating unnecessary ones, this solid medium-spicy dish is created. However, what is considered unnecessary can vary from person to person. Although I am not sure about the specific spices used, the dish is finished in a clean and simple manner. There is no scent of star anise, no heartburn from ground meat, and no overpowering smell of minced meat. The paste is not very rich, and the base soup is lightly flavored. I adjust the taste to my liking by adding XO sauce, doubanjiang, and powdered red pepper. It comes close to my ideal taste, but there are some things that cannot be changed, such as the lack of star anise aroma and the small amount of paste. It is a reliable tantanmen that can be enjoyed even when visiting clients. Thank you for the meal.

I visited this restaurant for a late lunch because it was close to the hotel I stayed at in Kyoto and I love tantanmen. The location is along Shijo Street, just before the JR overpass heading towards Nishiiin. I ordered the regular tantanmen and it arrived in about 10 minutes. It's a tantanmen specialty restaurant, so I had high expectations, but while it was not bad, it was just a normal tasty tantanmen and didn't have any standout features. Honestly, the fried rice that the person next to me was eating looked really delicious!

This popular restaurant can have a line even on weekdays at lunchtime. The tantanmen here is not too spicy and has a nice balance of sweetness, making it very easy to eat. It's a taste that makes you want to keep coming back for more! The noodles are thin and straight as usual. The bok choy is softer than expected and easy to eat. The combination of white leeks and minced meat with the noodles is delicious with a good texture. Adding doubanjiang to the soup halfway through enhances the flavor even more. The lettuce fried rice is also delicious with the crunchy lettuce balancing well. The creamy soup with thin noodles is very tasty!

It had been a while since my last visit. When I arrived before 12 o'clock, the restaurant was crowded, but it became quite empty after 12 o'clock. I ordered the classic tantanmen (large size). I hesitated between fried rice and white rice, but ended up feeling satisfied with just the tantanmen (although it's also delicious to put rice in the soup). Tantanmen is usually known for being spicy, but this restaurant's soup was not spicy at all, instead it was creamy and flavorful (you can add spice with the condiments on the table if you want). The only downside was that the noodles were a bit soft. They were thin noodles, almost like somen noodles. Overall, I would say this restaurant is quite satisfying.

You can adjust the spiciness with the condiments on the table. It's a popular place, so be prepared to wait on weekends. There is a delicious tantanmen available here. Located in a residential area that I am not very familiar with, the restaurant is along a main road and always busy with takeout customers, indicating its popularity. The tantanmen has a rich flavor and just the right amount of spiciness, but the standout dish was the crab sauce fried rice. I have had fried rice with sauce at other places before, but this one was exceptional. Today, I went to a specialty shop for tantan noodles in Minami. The chef, who is originally from China, is known for creating a creamy tantanmen that is popular at this restaurant. The Minami location is the "main store." I have visited the "Karasuma store" in Higashinotoin Rokkaku before. The main store is a small, narrow shop with only counter seats. As a tantanmen specialty shop, they offer various tantanmen dishes. The lettuce fried rice is also a popular menu item. The Chashu Tantanmen had a beautiful orange-colored soup with bok choy and chashu on top. In the center, there was minced meat and white onions. I mixed it all together and tasted it. The soup had a creamy texture and a mild spiciness. Mixing the minced meat and soup with the noodles was delicious. The chashu was tender and easily fell apart when picked up with chopsticks. It's also great to enjoy it with the noodles!

As the name suggests, this is a specialty shop for tan-tan noodles. Judging from the menu, they also seem to put effort into their fried rice. Due to the scorching heat, I ordered the cold tan-tan noodles. The soup was not just creamy, but also had a hint of sweetness and a slight spiciness from the chili peppers. The noodles were straight and thin, and they mixed well with finely chopped leeks and ground meat. The shop is run by the owner and his son, and they offer a rare genre of non-spicy tan-tan noodles.

Sesame-based non-spicy tantanmen. Smooth and elegant soup. The thin noodles would go well with cold tantanmen. Cold tantanmen is one of the popular menu items. The main store is in Minami, with a branch in Higashinotoin Rokkaku in Karasuma, operated by the Hanatanuki Group.

Ordered tantanmen and cabbage fried rice, which is not shown in the photo. I don't usually eat tantanmen, but the tantanmen here is extremely delicious. It has a perfect balance of spiciness and flavor. Even the large portion is satisfying. Don't forget to try the dessert with tapioca after the meal, it's also amazing. The only downside is that the access is difficult, but it's worth a visit.
