On this day, I had lunch in Omori. I developed a craving for Cocoichi curry, so I came here to satisfy it. The location is very close to Keikyu Heiwajima Station. The interior of the restaurant has 7 counter seats, 1 table for 2, and 3 tables for 4, with a maximum capacity of 21 seats. The abundance of table seats may be to attract families. I chose to sit at the counter. I had already decided what to order, but I quickly glanced at the table menu just in case there was a hidden gem. So, as planned, I ordered: - Beef Curry 597 yen (863kcal) - Topping Mushroom 206 yen (10kcal) - Topping Spinach 206 yen (11kcal) - Level 3 Spiciness 63 yen (41kcal) Total: 1072 yen (925kcal). As usual, customizing the curry makes the price go up. The calorie count also increases accordingly. However, they managed to keep it under 1000kcal by not adding fried items as toppings. The increase in spiciness also adds calories, probably due to the oil-like texture of the extra spicy spice used. According to the president of Cocoichi, the paid spiciness upgrade and the table spicy spice have the same ingredients, but the paid upgrade is said to taste better as the spiciness is better incorporated during cooking. I imagine this is because of the oil-like texture. The restaurant is run by 3 staff members: 1 woman and 2 men. Jazz music was playing in the background. Surprisingly, the food was served relatively quickly, in about 5 minutes. - Beef Curry (topped with mushrooms, spinach, level 3 spiciness) The standard rice portion is 300g, which is larger than at other restaurants. For women, it may be too much. That's why they also offer a smaller portion of 200g. The rice is slightly firm, which complements the curry well. The curry sauce is standard in thickness, made with beef, so it has a richer flavor compared to pork sauce. The color is also darker than pork curry. The original spiciness level is slightly higher than pork curry. By adding level 3 spiciness, it becomes quite spicy. However, I found it lacking in spice, so I added the table spicy spice for extra heat. I always order beef curry not because I want beef, but because I enjoy the taste of beef sauce. The beef itself is slightly better in quality than retort curry. The mushrooms mainly consist of shiitake, with some button mushrooms and an unknown variety. They are generously added, which is nice. The spinach, on the other hand, is not as plentiful. The 206 yen topping fee for spinach seems less worthwhile. In the early days of my food blog activity, I always ordered 400g of rice and added fried items as toppings, but I've since stopped doing that. It's for the sake of sustainable food blogging. Cocoichi tends to be on the pricier side, and honestly, I sometimes question its value for money, but for some reason, I always end up craving it. Perhaps it's because of the flexibility in customization and the frequent seasonal menu changes, which keep customers coming back. I'm sure I'll develop the craving again in a few months, maybe for the Kamata branch next time. Thank you for the meal! (As of 4/1/2015, rating: 3.00 points)
