I went to Sanbyakuen, a Chinese izakaya in Yotsuya. All the menu items here are around 300 yen, and they are all cheap, generous in portion, and delicious. It's perfect for getting drunk cheaply. The prices are low, so it's popular for university students' drinking parties, but the atmosphere can be a bit rowdy. The food was all delicious.

It's been a while since I came to Yotsuya for work. I had a great impression of the cost performance when I had a meal here years ago. This time, I ordered the classic Chinese dish, Sweet and Sour Pork, for 700 yen. It was quite a generous portion, and you can get free refills of rice. The sweet and sour sauce was just right, better than other set meals that cost around 1,000 yen at other restaurants. I will definitely come back!

Sweet and Sour Pork Set Meal (700 yen) I had some time to spare, so I decided to have lunch here. I was thinking about what to eat when I remembered this place. The prices have gone up a bit since last time, but that's understandable. I walked in, took my seat, and immediately ordered the sweet and sour pork. The portion of sweet and sour pork was quite generous. It was also on the sweet side. Each restaurant has its own unique taste for sweet and sour pork, and I guess this is the taste of this restaurant. If it's too sweet, you can always add soy sauce or vinegar. Despite my complaints, I ended up feeling satisfied after finishing the meal.

I wandered around for lunch and visited this restaurant. I had been there at night before the pandemic, but this was my first time having lunch there. It's like a back entrance from Shinmichi Street. I entered through what seemed like a side door, but I was still welcomed and served by the staff. I had a miso ramen and rice set. The taste was just delicious. I was full for only 800 yen!

On a regular Thursday at 12:30 in Yotsuya. While walking along the main street from the station, I soon spotted a sign for this place where I decided to have lunch. I hadn't had Taiwanese ramen in a while, and for only 550 yen, it seemed cheap. I climbed the stairs to the second floor of the restaurant, and was quickly seated at a table. The food arrived shortly after I placed my order. I appreciated the speed of service. The ramen had minced meat and leeks in it, and it definitely resembled Taiwanese ramen. For this price, it was worth it. Thank you for the meal.

The photo does not show Yakult, but a drink called Chlorella. It looks very similar to Yakult but is much cheaper. This restaurant must be cutting costs on ingredients to offer affordable set meals. This meal costs 700 yen, which is impressive. However, considering it's called "Sanbyaku Enya" (300 yen banquet), how about offering a 300 yen lunch? I hope they can make it happen.

One-coin lunch + tax? This is a cheap lunch near Yotsuya Station! I visited this restaurant for a weekday lunch, looking for a nearby affordable option. I ordered the "Kimchi Fried Rice for 550 yen" from the lunch menu, not for 300 yen as some might expect (laughs). The dish arrived in just a few minutes, very fast! The taste was... okay, I suppose. The kimchi had a good level of spiciness and acidity, not overly pickled which was nice. Overall, it's a quick and cheap place to eat, easy to visit. Thank you for the meal.

I was taken to a Chinese restaurant where almost everything was priced at 300 yen. Despite the low price, the taste was surprisingly good, as confirmed by the reviews on Tabelog. I agree with the general consensus. The dishes were well-seasoned, cooked over high heat, and had an authentic flavor. The pea sprouts stir-fry and the stir-fried squid and vegetables were particularly delicious. I also found that the bottled beer was better than the draft. The restaurant seemed to have been a former Japanese-style izakaya, as it was packed with customers ranging from students to local community members. The prices were incredibly cheap, and the service provided by foreign staff gave me a mini overseas travel experience. While cities in China and Hong Kong have become more expensive, this restaurant's prices may be more common in rural or old-fashioned neighborhoods. The portion sizes might be larger there, though.

On the way back from work, I went to lunch with my colleague. We didn't have much time, so we decided to go to Sanbyakuenya, which was nearby. It was around noon and the restaurant was almost full, with a wide range of customers from men to women, and individuals to groups. The restaurant was spacious with various types of seating, making it suitable for parties in the evening. The menu was extensive, making it hard to choose, but we ended up ordering the Mapo Tofu set meal for 650 yen and the Yurin Chicken set meal for 650 yen to share. The prices for lunch range from 500 yen to 650 yen, which was surprisingly affordable for Tokyo. What was even more surprising was the speed of service from ordering to the food arriving at our table. It was stress-free and comfortable for those who want to finish lunch quickly. The food was delicious, with generous portions. It was perfect for when you're really hungry. If we could have such affordable and delicious lunches in all train stations in Tokyo, that would be great. The small serving of cold tofu and Yakult that came with the meal was heartwarming. I was very satisfied and will definitely visit again.

After going out for drinks with a friend, we decided to find a second bar in Yotsuya for some more affordable drinks. We stumbled upon Sanbyakuen, a Chinese restaurant in an old building in Tokyo. The interior was spacious, resembling a typical neighborhood Chinese eatery but larger. We were seated in a tatami room, and the place was quite crowded. We ordered beer and highballs to toast to the end of the day. The menu was mainly Chinese dishes, unlike the Sanbyakuen in Funabashi that I had been to before. We tried the Ankake Yakisoba, which had a generous amount of vegetables and meat in a flavorful sauce. The noodles were slightly firm, and the sauce was rich. It paired well with our drinks. The Chicken Cartilage Karaage was crispy and a great drinking companion. The only thing I would change is maybe frying it a bit longer. For dessert, we had Sesame Dumplings, which had a crunchy exterior and a chewy mochi interior with a subtly sweet red bean filling. The drinks were all priced at 300 yen each, so we enjoyed a variety including highballs, shochu highballs, and unique choices like the Red Eye and Jasmine Highball. Overall, we left satisfied and had a good time. The staff, mostly foreigners, provided decent service. The atmosphere was lively, with everyone enjoying their drinks and food. The fixed prices made it easy to have a fun night out with friends, although there is a 300 yen seating charge to consider. Yotsuya seems to have a lot of places that suit my taste. Maybe I should start exploring more there, but first, I need to catch up on posting my backlog of reviews.

After finishing work and heading towards the station, I came across a surprising sign along Shinjuku Street. It advertised a Chinese izakaya called "Sanbyaku Utageya" where almost all drinks and food items were priced at 300 yen. Yes, you read that right - even yakitori for 300 yen! Intrigued, I couldn't resist and went in. I started with a Kirin Ichiban beer (330 yen) and was amused that it wasn't 300 yen. But indeed, all other drinks and dishes were truly 300 yen. The stir-fried green vegetables with salt (300 yen) was surprisingly delicious with bamboo shoots and wood ear mushrooms added. The pork and potato stir-fry (300 yen) had perfectly cooked potatoes. The famous mapo tofu (300 yen) was also generous in portion. The Shaoxing wine for 300 yen per glass was a good deal, and the free ice was a nice touch. The shark fin dumplings (300 yen) were chewy, and the seasoned cucumbers (300 yen) were incredibly tasty. The chicken and bell pepper stir-fry (300 yen) was like a cashew nut stir-fry without the cashews. I was constantly amazed by the quality of the dishes. They offer party courses starting from 2000 yen, including all-you-can-drink options for 2480 yen. They also have student discounts, making it a student-friendly place. It reminded me of a past restaurant near Kawasaki Stadium that served "1 dollar ramen" and "2 dollar curry" back when the exchange rate was 1 dollar = 130 yen. Unfortunately, it closed due to the rapid appreciation of the yen during the bubble era. I hope to see more "cheap and delicious" restaurants like Sanbyaku Utageya popping up again.

Today, I received information that you can easily enjoy Chinese small dishes for 300 yen, so I decided to go check it out. The location is convenient, just a short walk from Yotsuya Station. When you go up the stairs to the second floor, you will find a spacious and relaxing atmosphere inside the restaurant. First, I toasted with a Kirin Ichiban beer (330 yen)! The pork and potato stir-fry (300 yen) with green peppers and carrots had a crunchy texture that was delightful. The stir-fried greens with salt (300 yen) had a simple yet delicious flavor with black fungus and bamboo shoots. The mild-looking mapo tofu (300 yen) had a deep spiciness that I really enjoyed. The shark fin dumplings (300 yen) were a luxurious treat with plump shark fin inside the large dumplings. Of course, Chinese food goes well with Shaoxing wine (1500 yen per bottle). The vibrant cucumber pickles (300 yen) were fresh and refreshing. The garlic-flavored cucumbers paired well with the alcohol. The chicken and green pepper stir-fry (300 yen) was a great deal with plenty of various vegetables. We didn't make it to dessert, but I heard that the ramen and fried rice are also only 300 yen each, so I look forward to trying them next time. Thank you for the meal.

On this day, I had some errands in Yotsuya. Unfortunately, the shop I wanted to visit was unexpectedly closed on my way back. Since I wasn't very familiar with the area, I decided to look for a place where I could have a casual drink. I walked from Yotsuya Mitsuke intersection, where Shinjuku-dori and Sotobori-dori intersect, towards Yotsuya Sanchome on Shinjuku-dori. Normally, this area would be bustling with people and cars on a weekday, but on this day it was quiet due to being a holiday. Many shops were closed as well. However, I noticed a sign in front of a building on the right side that said "All dishes and drinks for 300 yen each." I decided to check it out and went up the stairs to the second floor.
What I ordered:
- Hoppy set @600 (2 drinks)
- Ebi mayo @300
- Kanitama @300
The interior of the restaurant was quite spacious. There seemed to be a gathering of young locals having a party, but there were other seats available. When I mentioned I was alone, I was guided to a small semi-private seat in the back. Looking at the menu, I noticed they had Hoppy. The price was 600 yen for a set, which included 2 drinks. I thought it was a bit pricey, but decided to go for it. The portion was decent, but I felt like I could have gotten a better deal if I had ordered something else. There was a variety of Chinese dishes on the menu, and I ended up choosing Ebi mayo and Kanitama. Both dishes had a good portion size and the taste was on the richer side, but overall it was decent. The staff were all of Asian descent and while they weren't overly friendly, they also didn't seem indifferent. It was best to just enjoy the experience without worrying too much. There were some young customers being a bit rowdy, which was a bit off-putting, but I guess it's something to expect in this kind of place. Casual dining with affordable prices for Chinese cuisine. It's best to just relax and enjoy without overthinking things.

Today's lunch was solo. After much thought, I decided on Chinese cuisine and went to Sanpei En. I had been to the Akasaka Mitsuke branch before, but this time I went to the Yotsuya Honten branch, which is just a 3-minute walk from the station, very convenient. It was already past 12 o'clock and the restaurant was packed with office workers finishing their morning work and students. Lucky for me, there was still one table available and I was seated promptly. There were a total of 18 lunch menu options, so I asked the waiter for a recommendation and ended up choosing the tantanmen and rice set (650 yen including tax). My set arrived 10 minutes later. The noodles were topped with plenty of sesame seeds and green onions. Unlike regular tantanmen, this one had lots of eggs. The soup was very flavorful, with a good sesame taste, and it was absolutely delicious! The portion size was just right, especially with the small bowl of rice on the side. The set presentation was average, but the taste was exceptional! Overall, I think it would be even better if they had a non-smoking section!

From Yotsuya Station, we went to Shinmichi Street to have lunch at a Chinese-style izakaya called Sanbyaku En. We climbed the stairs to the back entrance, which faces the main street. The inside of the restaurant smelled of cigarettes. We were seated in a small raised area with wooden flooring. The lunch set we ordered was a one-coin meal with Mapo Tofu Don and Kimchi Fried Rice, both seemed spicy. I usually order the Pork and Wood Ear Mushroom Stir-Fry from the set menu, but this time I decided to try something different. My order arrived in 7 minutes, but my companion's ramen set took longer. When we asked about it, we were told to wait a little longer. This made us feel uncomfortable. The food was tasty and the portions were generous for the price, but the service was lacking. I don't think I'll be coming back here again.

I made a reservation through Hot Pepper instead of Tabelog, and when I arrived after the reservation was confirmed, I was told that the seats were full and I couldn't be seated. Even though I hadn't received a cancellation email, I had to leave as there were no available seats. An hour later, I received a cancellation email, and I felt that there was no ounce of kindness in their treatment. I had used this place several times before, but I was shocked by this experience. I will never go back again.

A shop I always go to in Yotsuya after practice. Best cost performance. All drinks and food are 300 yen each. (Now it has gone up a bit, mostly around 350 yen. Some are still 300 yen though.) In terms of cost performance, either Saizeriya or this place is the top. I go there so often but I've never taken a photo. It's quite spacious, so it's convenient for a large group. There are often university students drinking and making noise, but I look at them with warm eyes, thinking that we used to do the same thing. Recommended dishes are the fried eggplant with salt and pepper, the dried tofu dish, shrimp mayo, and the stir-fried kikurage mushrooms and eggs. Thank you as always. I will definitely go again!

There were 7 of us and we were able to get a table quickly. The cola was flat and the appetizer came out when we were almost done eating. The fried rice was delicious though. The staff seemed unhappy and there weren't enough of them.

This place might be the cheapest around here. Nothing else particularly notable. Casual local eatery.
