"Kameyamagaku" in Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto City. Despite having a Tabelog rating of 3.61, it ranks 559th in the Tabelog ranking for Kyoto Prefecture, out of approximately 22,000 restaurants. In the "Kyoto Prefecture [Izakaya]" ranking, it holds the 15th position. I visited for lunch. The restaurant is located about a 6-7 minute walk northwest of Hankyu Railway's Karasuma Station. Upon arrival, I checked the lunch menu posted outside before entering. The opening hours are from 11:30 onwards. At 11:46 on a weekday, about 70% of the seats were filled. I was directed to take a glass and proceed to the back. I navigated through the crowded space, turned around, and sat at a counter-like seat. I experienced a high level of "closeness." The menu was predetermined for each day of the week, with Friday offering the "Dashi Omelette Set Meal." Therefore, there was no need to order, only to specify the amount of rice. I chose "medium," which comes with 300g of rice for 1100 yen (tax included). However, if you finish your meal and pay using a 10,000 yen note, you receive a 100 yen discount. A unique service provided. As a result, the total was 1000 yen (tax included). Payment is cash only. ~Order~ ● Dashi Omelette Set Meal 1000 yen (tax included) ● Service - Hot Coffee The dish arrived at 12:29, 43 minutes after entering. The delicious Dashi Omelette Set Meal was impressive, especially the thick slices of sashimi. The large sashimi exuded dignity, grandeur, and magnificence. The sheer size exceeded my expectations. The surprising size is not fully conveyed in photos. Additionally, the appealing set meal included a self-service drink. I quietly poured myself a hot coffee from the drink corner on the right side at the back of the restaurant. In addition to iced coffee and iced tea, the lineup included beer, highball, and sake, catering to various preferences. Considering the exceptional taste and the generous portion of sashimi, it's truly unbelievable that this is offered for 1000 yen. It was a moment of financial disorientation. When I showed the photos to my dining companion, they estimated it to be worth 3200 yen. Experiencing a fish lunch and witnessing the price destruction left me in awe. The "Daily Lunch" is only available on weekdays, with the restaurant closed on weekends and holidays. It's a rare lunch experience that can only be enjoyed on limited operating days. Enduring the cramped seats and long wait is necessary, but if you can, you'll definitely enjoy a satisfying lunch. The bar is set high, but I highly recommend experiencing dining at this unique restaurant. If given the chance, I would love to visit again.
