Tomorrow's work is looming, so I stayed in Sugamo today. Sugamo is famous for the Togenuki Jizo statue, known as the god of longevity. I made sure to pray for being able to continue eating delicious ramen. On my way back, a smiling old lady recommended I try the sweet bean paste-filled rice cake, which was delicious but really sweet. After eating something sweet, I felt like having some hearty ramen, as expected! (I don't know why) With that in mind, I head to Sugamo-ya. The location is great, right near the station. As I approach the shop, I see two customers buying tickets from the machine, and the place is about 80% full inside. It's not even 5 pm yet, but it's quite crowded! The ticket machine here is a bit inconvenient, located to the left as soon as you enter, making it difficult for customers to come in and out while others are purchasing tickets. Everyone waiting is outside! It's a bit annoying on rainy days. Inside, I order the Negi Ramen. I want to eat a Negi (green onion) bowl. Surely, the ducks in Sugamo, after which the area was named, must have liked Negi too. (I don't know why, again) I ordered the regular size! Yes, regular size is enough here. Because rice is all-you-can-eat. No, that's not the right way to put it. You can eat as much as you want. The people around me already have heaps of rice before the ramen even arrives. Even Kyu-chan is ready, fully prepared to eat! It's like Jackie Chan's style of provocation, beckoning with just the tip of one finger. Yes, this posture of everyone waiting with rice in hand. This is ONE TEAM! (Sorry, I don't know why, for the third time) I also have rice @ Kyu-chan. In no time, the ramen is served. The Negi looks great. The conclusion is, I'm full. It's definitely a hearty bowl of ramen. I secretly had a second helping of rice. Or rather, I was too focused on the rice that I don't really remember the taste of the ramen (laughs). The guy next to me was eating Taiwan ramen, and it looked spicy. Everyone was earnestly eating their rice, which left an impression on me. They use domestically produced rice, it said. Will I go again? Maybe. If it's not crowded, I'll definitely go in. Just to confirm the taste of the ramen (sweat).
