Visited this restaurant around 1pm on a weekday. I was looking to eat eel but several places were closed, so I decided to try this chain restaurant for a change. I ordered a sashimi and horse mackerel fry set. The horse mackerel fry was recommended, but it was incredibly small. The sashimi was all frozen, with no fresh fish at all. If they had at least one fresh item, it would have been better. The quality of everything was worse than 100 yen sushi, with tuna full of sinew. The miso soup smelled like natto. I have no intention of visiting this place again. They should work on improving their ingredients. It's not worth even a coin to eat here.

Today, I had a tight schedule at work and needed to grab lunch in between. I found this restaurant that offers speedy, satisfying, and cost-effective meals. They have a variety of lunch options and are conveniently located in the city. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was like a casual izakaya, which added to the excitement. I chose the seafood bowl for 1000 yen, which included a mix of fish and seafood. I was happy to find out that it also came with some white fish and extra rice to enjoy with grated yam. As I enjoyed my meal, I couldn't help but wonder if the restaurant would get busier in the evenings. I looked through the menu and felt satisfied with my dining experience.

Let's eat something like a seafood bowl! I decided to go to Minamoto-chan. However, it was too cold outside, so I changed my plans and ordered the Fish Market Fry Set. It wasn't bad, but my expectations were high with the word "fish market". I think everything except the horse mackerel fry was served cold. Maybe that's just how it is with pub lunches. It was nice that you could get a refill of miso soup.

I found a shop along the way to "Katsu Konomi" and decided to try it out during my lunch break while working from home. The shop had a seafood market vibe. I looked around and decided to order the "Kaisen Gen-chan Don" for 1,290 yen. However, despite being one of the first customers of the day, there was no tea or water available anywhere. I thought it might be self-service, but there were no signs of that either. Just as I was wondering what to do, the waiter hurriedly brought over my donburi. The dish was filled with various fresh fish like tuna, mackerel, bonito, shrimp, sea bream, salmon, and salmon roe, each with its own distinct flavor. The wasabi was freshly grated, not the pre-made kind. The quality of the ingredients made me think that this place is trying hard with its sourcing and might be a conscientious establishment. However, the price of 1,290 yen seemed a bit high for this area, considering you can find similar dishes for cheaper in the back alleys nearby. While the shop might be more suitable for evening izakaya use, the lack of customers during lunchtime suggests that others might feel the same way as I do.

(First review) 02/21/2022 First visit. Before the term "Instagrammable" became popular, I rarely used Instagram. I started using it again and found some restaurants that liked my posts, and this is the 19th installment of trying out those restaurants' dishes. "Tsukiji Shokudo Genchan" has three categories, and based on the menu, this shop is a street type. According to their website, they source fresh seafood from Tsukiji Market and local markets every morning, and offer mainly set meals featuring seafood from lunch to dinner. They also serve a variety of seafood dishes that pair well with drinks. The menu changes daily depending on the day's ingredients, making it a unique dining experience in the crowded restaurant market. After visiting "Menya Roku," I went here. The restaurant was much larger than I expected. Here's what I ordered. [Dishes] - Seafood Genchan Donburi (1290 yen. Comes with miso soup. The bowl contains vinegar rice with 9 types of seafood visible in the photo. The shrimp still had their heads on, so I used miso. The wasabi was surprisingly good.) Next time, I might try the Red Snapper with Sesame Sauce Donburi. Thank you for the meal.

The Gen-chan at a different store has always taken care of me. This was my first time at the Gen-chan in Ningyocho. As expected, they serve generous portions of fresh sashimi! Thank you, Gen-chan. The cost performance is excellent. Even though it was night time, you can still order a donburi that feels like lunch. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I went to this restaurant at night with my friends. The taste was great, as expected from a chain restaurant. But what surprised me the most was the service. My friend saw a huge onigiri sample displayed on the counter and asked if they could make it. Not only did they make it for us, but they also said we could have unlimited rice for free at night. We were grateful for their thoughtful gesture.

On November 24th, I visited a new ramen shop in the neighborhood. I didn't have much time, so I decided to try this place which seemed like a good deal. I have been to a different restaurant in the same chain before. The restaurant was spacious and could accommodate both solo diners and groups of 4-5 people. I felt like having more than just a seafood bowl, so I ordered the daily seafood bowl with a side of fried horse mackerel. The miso soup with seaweed was tasty. The fried horse mackerel was quite big, but it seemed a bit greasy. I added soy sauce to it. Under the fried fish, there was a cabbage salad. It wasn't like a salad a girl would enjoy, but it's always good to get some veggies in. The bowl had salmon, bonito (I think), sea bream (maybe), boiled scallops, and whitebait. It looked good, but the taste was average. It was a mix of regular seafood bowl and whitebait bowl. The amount of vinegar rice was quite generous, so a young person might struggle to finish it all. When ordering, they asked about the amount of rice, and I chose the regular portion. But I heard other customers asking for extra rice. The combination of seafood bowl and fried horse mackerel was a good idea.

I used it for lunch on September 2, 2020. Tsukiji Shokudo Minamoto-chan. This time, I used a different store. You can eat for around 1,000 yen for lunch. (A little expensive... because it's in an office district...) Due to the influence of the coronavirus, there are quite a few empty seats during lunchtime. I ordered... the Big Pacific Saury Set Meal (1,090 yen) Pacific saury, fried chicken, miso soup, pickles. The saury is huge haha (it's a big Pacific Saury set meal haha) You can have extra rice for free, but the regular portion was enough to make me full. I hope this information is helpful.

After a long weekend of being soaked in the rain, the start of the week feels even bluer than usual. However, with clear tasks to accomplish in the first half of the week, there's no time to dwell on it. For lunch today, I headed to the Ningyocho area, specifically to a restaurant called "Tsukiji Shokudo Gen-chan." Initially, I considered continuing my in-depth exploration of "WA Tei Ikeue" today, but I didn't want the staff there to think I was a regular customer, plus the remaining menu items were all meat dishes. I was in the mood for some light fish dishes to start the week, so I decided to take a break from "WA Tei Ikeue" and try "Tsukiji Shokudo Gen-chan." I've been to a branch of this chain before during a high school reunion, so I was aware that it was a chain restaurant. Upon entering, I noticed the typical market-style dining atmosphere that is common in these types of restaurants. The menu mainly consisted of fried dishes, with options like "una-don" also available. I opted for the "Seafood Deluxe Donburi" (1,090 yen). When the dish arrived, it looked more like a negitoro donburi than a "deluxe" seafood bowl, which was a bit disappointing. The taste was decent when paired with soy sauce or sesame sauce, but when I added chopped seaweed and rice crackers with sea bream dashi at the end, there was a slight fishy smell that was a letdown. Overall, in this area, I know of other places where I can get a seafood bowl that is either the same or even tastier at a more reasonable price. It seems like the quality of chain restaurants like this one may be a factor. (5/10)

I was looking for a place to have lunch in Ningyocho and decided to try this restaurant for the first time. It's a seafood izakaya. The lunch menu includes seafood bowls and various set meals. I ordered the "shirasu dried fish bowl with chicken cutlet set meal" that caught my eye. The shirasu dried fish bowl was generously topped with shirasu, giving it a satisfying texture, and the chicken cutlet was freshly fried. The miso soup was made with seaweed broth and had a delicious ocean flavor. The restaurant was lively with many customers. I would like to come back again.

Seafood izakaya chain located about a 1-minute walk from Ningyocho Station A5 exit. Today, my colleague and I decided to grab a drink after work, and we wandered around Ningyocho Station looking for a place to go. My colleague is a heavy drinker, so if the drinks are not cheap, it becomes quite a burden. I only drink 2-3 glasses, so I never really get my money's worth with all-you-can-drink options. That's why I always look for a place where the price per drink is low. That's when I came across a sign for this restaurant that said, "Same-day reservations available, all-you-can-drink course starting at 2980 yen including tax." It's a good deal for all-you-can-drink, even though the price is low. With not many other options, we decided to take a chance and go inside. We arrived around 6:30 pm, and the restaurant wasn't too crowded yet. We told the staff that there were two of us, and we were seated at a 4-person table to the right. We ordered the 2980 yen course which included 6 dishes and 2 hours of all-you-can-drink. We started with a toast of draft beer (Kirin Ichiban Shibori) and plum wine soda, kicking off our little drinking party. The edamame that came out first was delicious, and the seasonal sashimi platter (tuna, yellowtail, horse mackerel) was satisfying with generous slices and good flavors. The mushroom and shirasu salad had plenty of shirasu on top, which was impressive. The grilled fish, nukadzuke sanma, was served one per person, which was nice. The fried dishes were chicken karaage and cream croquette, typical izakaya course dishes. The finale was salmon ochazuke, which was quite filling, so even though there were only 6 dishes, we were satisfied with the quantity. About a month later, my colleague and I revisited the restaurant and ordered the same 2980 yen course that we enjoyed last time. This time, the course included edamame, seasonal sashimi platter (tuna, yellowtail, sardine), mushroom and shirasu salad, grilled red fish, golden flounder karaage and cream croquette, and salmon ochazuke, totaling 6 dishes just like last time. There wasn't much difference from the previous visit, so I'll continue to use the 2980 yen course at this restaurant when I want to have a quick and affordable drink.

I don't eat fish often, but I decided to try it after a long time at Tsukiji Shokudo Minamoto in Ningyocho. It was my first time at a restaurant in Ningyocho, and it was quite busy with people dining. I ordered the daily special seafood bowl and chicken Karaage for 815 yen. It's quite affordable, right? I hesitated about getting a small portion of rice for 20 yen off, but I went with the regular size (large size is free). The food arrived after a while, and it was quite a generous portion. The sashimi was a bit tough but thickly sliced, so it was okay. The freshness was good, so it was a shame. Also, the miso soup had a strange smell, so I ended up leaving it. I think it was just a one-time thing, but it was a bit disappointing lunch. Thank you for the meal!

I decided to visit after a long time and went in. This time, I was served my order in about 3 minutes without having to wait. It seems like the kitchen is running smoothly, which is great. I ended up ordering the same lunch set as last time. I'll try something different next time.

I entered the restaurant at 12:45 (for the first time) and there were plenty of seats available. The floor staff seemed busy due to lack of manpower. The staff on the floor were very attentive and made eye contact frequently. They handled seating customers, taking orders, serving dishes, and processing payments efficiently. It seemed like the kitchen was also short-staffed, as it took quite a bit of time for the food to come out. It would be great if more students could come and work here. As for the meal, I ordered today's daily special set meal with fried chicken (880 yen). When asked about the amount of rice, I requested a normal portion, but it was quite generous. The side dishes were also plentiful and didn't get boring. It's very much appreciated by working people. Thank you for the meal.

I chose the daily special rice bowl and fried chicken set. The rice was refillable and the miso soup was also refillable, which was a nice touch. The seafood bowl had about 6 different types of seafood in small portions. The fried chicken came in small pieces, and the miso soup had seaweed in it, which was a nice touch. The freshness of the ingredients was decent, and overall, it felt like they served decent food for a seafood izakaya. The vinegared rice made it easy to eat.

After work on January 1, 2019, I stopped by "Tsukiji Shokudo Gen-chan Ningyocho Store" near Ningyocho Station for a drink. I ordered the Ningyocho drinking set for 1,000 yen, which included one alcoholic drink, edamame, dried red fish, and a sashimi platter. It's a great deal for the price. I also ordered a large serving of hot sake for 980 yen. The food was delicious and filling, and the overall experience at Gen-chan was great. I will definitely be coming back here again. Recently, my favorites are the Hamachi Goma Dare Don and I chose the Oyster and Pork Sundubu Set Meal. It was delicious with plenty of ingredients. However, it wasn't boiling hot and there wasn't much steam. Probably, they made the hot pot first which takes time to cook, to sync with serving the Goma Dare Don later. Well, it was easy to eat so it's fine (laughs). I like the staff at this restaurant, they are friendly ❤️ Next time, I'll try the Goma Dare Don. I'll definitely come back.

I had my first Pacific saury of the year. Looking forward to more fatty ones as autumn progresses.
