I found this place while looking at Google Maps the day before I decided to take a walk around Ningyocho. As a matcha lover, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to visit! The interior of the shop was almost full, but I was able to get in just as people were leaving. I ordered the matcha tiramisu and hojicha latte. I thought about ordering sencha since I was having sweets, but I love both matcha and hojicha so I ended up with this combination. The latte was made by brewing each cup right in front of me, and it was delicious. It seemed like there were many regular customers, and it was a cozy atmosphere. I would love to visit again when I'm in the area.

Located just a 2-minute walk from Exit A5 of Ningyocho Station on the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line and Toei Asakusa Line, this cozy café has a unique atmosphere with only 8 counter seats facing the kitchen. The tables are adorned with various tea-related items such as teapots and strainers, creating a charming setting. They offer a Japan tea tiramisu for 600 yen and special steamed green tea for 500 yen. The tiramisu combines the flavors of espresso-soaked biscuits with matcha powder sprinkled on top, creating a delightful fusion of coffee's elegance and matcha's bitterness. Made with mascarpone cheese, fresh cream, and a touch of Marsala wine, the tiramisu has a refreshing taste that complements the matcha bitterness, making it a satisfying treat. Despite its small size, the dessert uses high-quality matcha, resulting in a rich and indulgent experience. The café operates on a one-drink minimum policy for in-house dining. Note that the café may be closed for workshops, so be sure to check their Instagram story for the latest updates on café hours before your visit.

I used the afternoon tea for lunch, which was a bar rental, so the lovely interior had only counter seats. You can choose from 3 types of tea and 3 types of sweets, and they also ask about your preferences for sweets, not just tea. I chose sencha, hojicha, and matcha for drinks. For sweets, you can choose delicious Japanese sweets from the surrounding area, such as Ningyocho Suitengu Shrine, which was fun and unique to this area. The sencha had a great umami flavor with a good balance of astringency, and even though it was hot, it was easy to drink in early June. The tiramisu had a refreshing cream and espresso, with an authentic deliciousness that seemed like it would attract people to come to the shop just for it, which was nice. If I had to nitpick, I would have liked more information with the tea, such as its characteristics and differences from others, which would have increased my satisfaction if it was available on the menu.

I had a matcha tiramisu with black tea at this place. The black tea was smooth and easy to drink with little bitterness, which paired well with the tiramisu. They even brought out a tea aroma burner, allowing us to enjoy the fragrance while sipping on a cup of tea made with the same tea leaves. The roasted green tea with a light aroma was also delicious. It was a great experience and now I want to get a tea aroma burner for myself.

On the way to Morinoen, I noticed a sign for Hatoha and decided to stop by on my way back home. It turned out to be a tea cafe in a bar space. I ordered the Judo Neri-Kiri Set (1000 yen). Today's Judo Neri-Kiri included a Tsubuan paste called "Deep Mountain Azalea" and another one called "Spring Search," so I got one of each. We both had matcha as our drink. I had never tried Judo's wagashi before, but I learned that they are famous for their golden sweet potatoes. I remembered having golden sweet potatoes in the past, so I decided to try their wagashi as well. My wife preferred the Spring Search flavor, but I liked the Deep Mountain Azalea one more because it was less sweet. The matcha was also delicious. I felt that this set was reasonably priced at 1000 yen.

On a Saturday morning, I visited the cafe right after it opened. I chose the Matcha Zenzai Latte from the diverse drink menu. It was a perfect choice for a morning with lingering sleepiness, needing a sugar boost. The cafe had a modern jazz-style BGM playing, creating a pleasant atmosphere. The sound of whisking matcha could be heard from the back. The latte was carefully prepared with red bean paste, milk, and matcha. The latte was filled to the brim of the cup. I took a sip and enjoyed the slightly bitter aroma of matcha. The absence of sweetness allowed me to fully appreciate the fragrance. The milk did not overpower the matcha, but instead complemented its aroma and subtle sweetness. As I slowly melted the red bean paste at the bottom, the sweet and moist flavor added a nice touch. The paste dissolved, leaving only the skin behind, creating a rich and mellow sweetness. Even when mixed with all the red bean paste, the refreshing taste of matcha lingered in the throat. It was a sweet latte that warmed me up from the inside, perfect for the changing weather of early spring. At one point, I was offered to enjoy the scent of matcha incense, which was a delightful experience. The transition from a sweet matcha fragrance to a toasty hojicha-like aroma was fascinating. The peaceful atmosphere made me want to stay longer and savor the pleasant scent. It would be interesting to try other variations of latte in the future, especially a gold-themed drink as the weather gets warmer.

When you walk down the street next to the Starbucks in Ningyocho, you will come across this café that seems to specialize in Japanese tea. Surprisingly, they are only open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. It's hard to believe that they can survive with such limited operating days in Ningyocho, known for its discerning taste. The café only has counter seats, with annoying splatter prevention panels and vinyl sheets. The owner operates the café alone. I ordered the "Authentic Matcha Latte (Cold)" for 550 yen and the "Freshly Made Monaka (Red Bean Whipped Cream)" for 350 yen. I regretted ordering a drink that felt more suitable for Starbucks. Looking at the menu again, I should have opted for hojicha, bancha, or sencha. On this hot day, the matcha latte tasted surprisingly good. It was not too sweet, and the matcha flavor was just right. They had neri-kiri from "Judo," but I hesitated due to a hint of cinnamon smell. I was also tempted by the chocolate yokan from "Tagayasu," but ended up choosing the monaka. However, they were shaped like taiyaki, reminiscent of "Yanagiya." The whipped cream was overflowing, and the red bean paste was smooth. It could have been richer to better suit Ningyocho's taste. It was delicious, but slightly on the smaller side for 350 yen. I chatted with the owner, who mentioned that they are subletting the space. That explains the limited operating days during the week. Apparently, they also run a bar at night. The café has been open for about 2 years and seems to have a decent following. They offer a 100 yen discount if you show them a review on Tabelog.

While looking for a café in Ningyocho, I came across a unique sign for traditional Japanese sweets and Japanese tea. I decided to visit Hato-Ha, a Japanese tea house. The first photo shows the freshly made An Butter Monaka that I ordered. It's a must-try treat for any red bean lover. The second photo shows the Matcha Latte and Hojicha Latte being prepared, with the aroma of tea filling the stylish bar-like seating area. The contrast between the sweetness of the treats and the tea was delightful. #NingyochoGourmet #Ningyocho #ChuoWardGourmet #ChuoWard #FoodiesUnite #RedBeanLover #RedBean #RedBeanSweets #Sweets #Foodstagram #TokyoGourmet #TokyoCafes #GreenTea #Hojicha #OolongTea #JapaneseTea #NorimameGourmet #Not12_Chuo

On my day off, I was planning to stroll around Nihonbashi when I happened to come across a lovely shop. I originally wanted to visit a different matcha shop, but it was full...haha. When I was about to go to Starbucks, I saw an interesting sign and without doing any research, I entered. 《À la carte order》 - Authentic matcha whipped latte from Kyoto's Higashimachi (Cold) ¥600 You can choose the sweetness level (none, light, sweet). This time, I chose light. I was wondering about the sweetness of the whipped cream, but choosing light was definitely the right decision. The whipped cream added just the right amount of sweetness without overpowering the matcha flavor. For those who are not fans of the bitterness of matcha, they would love this. I finished it in no time...usually it takes me a while to finish a glass like this, but it was just "delicious" in one word. - Collaboration Japanese tea pound cake (chocolate matcha) with "Tagayasu" in Nihonbashi Ningyocho ¥300 - Service Japanese tea (all-you-can-drink) ¥200 ※※ Note that this price is only available for those who order food. The Japanese tea changes daily and you cannot specify the content. The Japanese tea was a fragrant green tea with a refreshing taste, easy for anyone to enjoy. It was very calming. ❤︎ Google Maps or Tabelog reviews offer one free drink. ¥100 off with a follow on the shop's Instagram account (I'm writing this review discreetly because I want to provide honest comments). #NihonbashiCafe #NingyochoCafe #NihonbashiGourmet #TokyoGourmet #JapaneseTea #MatchaLatte Shop's Instagram account @tea.hatoha

I had a cold green tea today as it has gotten a little warmer since last time. The owner carefully brewed the tea for me as always. Since this shop also operates as a bar, you can enjoy watching the process. It's best to have some extra time as they take their time. The taste is excellent, with a hint of sweetness and a refreshing flavor. Even though this time I had a cheap tea, the effort put into it makes it worth the 300 yen. Drinking Kyoto tea in Tokyo that came all the way from Kyoto is a unique experience that you can't have in Kyoto.

I sometimes think about wanting to drink delicious Japanese tea. You can drink it here. It is located at a cafe called "Connect" on the left just before Starbucks at the intersection of Ningyocho, and there is no signboard, so the curtain at the storefront is a landmark. This time, when you order Japanese tea, the tea master, who is a "level ten tea master," will brew tea blended by the tea master. You can also enjoy the difference in taste between the first tea and the second tea (second brew). It is open only a few days a week, but it is recommended when it is not too crowded.

Location: From Ningyocho intersection, head north on Ningyocho Street. Turn left just before Starbucks, and you will find the shop on your left. Store: The interior has several counter seats. I purchased curry from Tokyo Mix Curry and also bought a drink here. Food: Not applicable. Beverages: The cafe has a wide variety of drinks. If you purchase from Tokyo Mix Curry, the menu is different. There are two options: a cold drink, which is Shizuoka tea lemonade for ¥300, and a hot drink made from tea leaves from Tokushima prefecture for ¥200. I chose the cold one since I was going to eat curry. Tea lemonade is quite unique, isn't it? Service: The owner was the only one serving. The regular menu also includes sweet drinks that seem popular with women. I hope this review helps you choose a restaurant.

First Visit 202010 (No.2143) This time, I started picking up information from Ningyocho, and the first place I visited was near the station. The shop opened on October 18, 2019, so you would expect there to be reviews by now, but as of October 2020, there are still none! Perhaps it's because they have irregular business days on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays (excluding holidays)...? I visited around 10:20 on a weekday, and there were no other customers before or after me. I ordered the following Japanese tea today: Organic Awa Bancha for 450 yen. It was brewed on the spot and I got it in 4-5 minutes. This was my first time trying Awa Bancha, and when I looked it up, I found out that it's a rare fermented tea that is a specialty of Naka District and Katsuura District in Tokushima Prefecture. The tea leaves are grown in their own farm, picked in midsummer, boiled, rubbed, soaked in wooden barrels, left to ferment with lactic acid, sun-dried in the midsummer sun, and finished by hand. It's a tea that requires a lot of time and effort. Recently, the name has been changing from "Bancha" to "Bansha" to signify late picking, and the taste varies depending on the producer due to different types and balances of bacteria. It has a good aroma and a refreshing acidity, making it a delicious tea. Thank you for the meal.
