When I first visited in May 2023, I started by ordering from the appetizer category at Hao Chi in Tobu Nerima, which is located along the old Kawagoe Kaido and specializes in Chinese cuisine and authentic fried chicken. I tried the familiar mouth-watering chicken and the hearty "Lion's Head Ma La Tang" dish, which is filled with large meatballs, yuba, wood ear mushrooms, dried tofu, glass noodles, Chinese cabbage, bok choy, konjac, and more. I also enjoyed a Heartland beer, just like I did at Kikyo the other day.

I finished work at Tobu Nerima on the 1st of the month, just before 3 pm. I was walking through the shopping street wondering what to eat. I remembered a specialty fried chicken shop that had just opened recently while I was looking for a bakery a little while ago. There were no other customers. I ordered a Ji Pai hamburger and Oolong tea. I didn't particularly want Oolong tea, but they only had carbonated drinks and not having a drink was not an option. It cost 670 yen. Although it's a fried chicken specialty shop, they also have regular Chinese set meals. The chairs at the counter are a bit low, so when you sit down, it comes up to your chest, making it a bit awkward to eat properly. The food was served in about 10 minutes. I've never had Ji Pai before, which is apparently Taiwanese fried chicken, so I can't say if this is the authentic Ji Pai or not. The crispy coating, tender chicken, and fluffy bun were a good combination, better than the chicken filet sandwich from a major chain in my opinion. However, the "spicy" part of the "spicy" description was actually not spicy, so I added some chili oil from the table to the chicken to give it some extra flavor, which turned out to be quite good. Taiwanese fried chicken Ji Pai, not bad at all, right?

The fried chicken was large and satisfying to eat. The honey mustard flavor was on the sweet side. I ordered just the fried chicken, but it was a generous portion, so I had to take the leftovers home. I was happy to see they had Heartland beer available.

While on my way home after having dinner at Tobu Nerima, I came across a fried chicken shop and decided to stop by. It was a specialty shop called Hachi that serves authentic fried chicken. There were several types available, but this time I chose the young chicken (100g for 220 yen). The crispy coating and large pieces of meat provided a satisfying eating experience, but personally, I think a bit more flavor would be even better.
