I visited the Bistro-style Japanese restaurant YAOYA, which I had been wanting to try for a while. This place is known for its wide selection of Japanese sake and fresh seafood. I started with a beautiful assortment of 5 appetizers, which set high expectations for the rest of the meal. I enjoyed a glass of draft beer before letting the chef choose a variety of Japanese sake for me based on my preferences. The sake paired perfectly with the delicious seafood, especially the sashimi platter featuring yellowtail, amberjack, bonito, sea urchin, and tuna belly. The fried oysters were also a standout, with a thick and juicy texture. Although the restaurant was busy and reservations may be tight, it seems worth the effort to secure a spot. I highly recommend this place and look forward to visiting again in the future.

I ordered a sashimi assortment, Japanese sake, and tamagoyaki, and all the dishes were delicious and showed attention to detail. The fish dishes served went well with the sake. The prices were on the higher side, but the taste was worth it. Highly recommended for a repeat visit.

On August 16, 2023, I attended the Gozan no Okuribi event where we sent off our ancestors. Every year on this day, we enjoy delicious seafood and sake at the local vegetable shop. We were served various dishes including sashimi platter with hamo, kanpachi, swordtip squid, tuna, and sea urchin, as well as fried oysters, grilled white eel from Mikawa, simmered beef tendon, and grilled sweetfish. The sake selection included Juuyondai (EXTRA) Daiginjo Junmai, Echigo (Junmai Ginjo) Yamadanishiki Muroka Nama, Oze no Yukidoke (Rozeno Yukidoke) Junmai Daiginjo, Yamamoto (Junmai Ginjo), Fudo (Suisei Karakuchi) Junmai Ginjo, Ichihikizuissei (Omachi), and Ta-sake (Junmai Ginjo) Hyakuyonju (Natsu).

Order: Hamo, hiramasa, grilled crab miso, rice croquette beer, various types of sake. Located in the Masugata shopping street in Demachiyanagi. With an overwhelming number of menu options and a wide variety of sake, we had the best time. It was delightful to have the staff provide us with the perfect sake in response to our requests. Today, we enjoyed a blissful meal. Thank you.

The overall impression of the Kyoto sightseeing prices is somewhat on the higher side. The assorted sashimi plate was fresh and quite generous in portion. There is a wide selection of Japanese sake for drinks. The food was delicious. However, it seemed like there was only one server in the dining area, which made it feel a bit rushed as they quickly cleared the plates. The salt on the table was left exposed to the air, so it would have been more hygienic if it had a cover. It may have been due to the busy crowd, but I would have preferred a more relaxed atmosphere for dining.

The tuna sashimi platter at Daigoma was amazing. It was really delicious! The sea urchin and round eggplant were also fantastic. They offered a variety of Japanese sake to choose from based on our preferences, and we were truly satisfied. We will definitely come back!

We ordered a la carte for two people. It cost 10,090 yen per person. The food and appetizer sashimi were very luxurious. We had a sashimi assortment of the day's recommendation, grilled shirako, and whale fin cutlet. We also enjoyed two types of sake, Kudoki Jouzu and Tokiyama, which were both refreshing and exactly to our liking!

It's been a while since I visited Kyoto. The shop that taught me the deliciousness of Japanese sake, Yaoya-san. When did it become a famous store? The master said, "Customers who don't know us well come and it's annoying." Today, I enjoyed it deliciously again. Japanese sake is not only about the quality, but also the temperature control makes a big difference!

This is a restaurant that I want to visit regularly. The Japanese cuisine is very delicious, and I am impressed by the cooking method that does not waste any ingredients. Not only the sashimi, but also the curry and tempura are carefully prepared. And most importantly, they have a wide variety of sake, and they help you choose the right one according to your preference. I enjoyed it once again this time.

I visited the highly rated Bistro-style Japanese restaurant YAOYA in Kyoto, which has been selected as one of the top 100 restaurants. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is calm and relaxing. Here is what we had:
- Appetizer (assorted small dishes)
- Assorted sashimi (tuna, fatty tuna, salted fish guts, yellowtail, sea urchin, cured mackerel, sandfish)
- Chicken tempura
- Oyster fry
- Tamago kake gohan (rice with raw egg)
Drinks:
- Beer x2
- Sake from Kochi, Minami (1 cup)
- Sake from Wakayama, name forgotten (1 cup)
Total: ¥22,000 (for 2 people)
The sashimi platter was really generous and we struggled to finish it between the two of us. We asked for a smaller portion since there were not many customers at the time, so it might be better to request that for a smaller group. The ingredients were all of high quality and delicious, but the prices were a bit on the higher side. As a tourist, I felt that there was a lack of Kyoto-specific dishes on the menu. Overall, it's a lovely restaurant but rating it 3.82 is a bit tricky.

YAOYA Bistro Izakaya is located in the middle of Demachiyanagi Shopping Street. It is a seafood-focused izakaya restaurant with a high rating on Tabelog. The atmosphere is sophisticated with jazz music playing in the background. The menu is extensive and the owner, who is very friendly, manages the restaurant alone. We tried various dishes including appetizers, sashimi platter, horse sashimi yukhoe, natural blowfish fin sake, grilled ginkgo nuts, and oyster kamameshi. The sashimi was fresh and delicious, and we especially enjoyed the oyster kamameshi. Overall, it was a great dining experience, although we wished we had ordered more warm dishes.

Appetizers, yellowtail sashimi, oysters, grilled yellowtail collar, half portion of sea urchin rice bowl, rolled omelette, seasonal tempura. It's been a while since I visited Kyoto. Even the appetizers had that Kyoto vibe. The food was delicious, and I ended up getting drunk on beer and sake, haha.

"Bistro Kappo YAOYA" is hidden in a residential area about 400m from Demachiyanagi Station in Kyoto. The name "YAOYA" can mean a store that sells a variety of things, which may be why it is named as such. The main seating area is at the counter, where a wide selection of Japanese sake and other alcohol is displayed. There are also three sunken kotatsu seats in a dimly lit atmosphere, which is quite relaxing. The recommended menu changes based on the daily ingredients, and there is a wide variety of dishes to choose from. The appetizers served were plentiful and delicious. Since this restaurant is listed in the top 100 Izakaya in Japan on Tabelog, it is recommended to make a reservation in advance. Our bill for three people was 19,260 yen. The dishes we ordered included assorted sashimi, Toba oysters, and grilled yellowtail and amberjack with salt. Overall, it was a great dining experience that I don't want to forget to remember! During the peak season of autumn leaves in Kyoto, I visited a Bistro-style Japanese restaurant with a budget of around 8000 yen. Despite concerns about crowds, I managed to make a reservation at this restaurant three weeks in advance as many other places were fully booked. The restaurant has a casual atmosphere, more like a high-end izakaya than a traditional Japanese restaurant. The menu was extensive, with a variety of dishes including appetizers, grilled shirako, salt-grilled saury, fried chicken, and chicken porridge. The quality of the food was good, with the saury being particularly impressive. The restaurant offered a selection of both popular and lesser-known sake, served chilled. The bill came to 14000 yen for two people, which was reasonable considering the quality of the food and drinks. Overall, I would describe this place as a slightly upscale izakaya, although it didn't quite meet the expectations based on its rating of 3.82 on Tabelog.

Today, I visited an izakaya in Kyoto, which has been selected as one of the top 100 izakayas on Tabelog. I made a reservation for a table at 8:00 PM and arrived at the restaurant. I started with a beer and then enjoyed the recommended cold sake by the owner. Here is what I had:
- Appetizers: Komatsuna and shimeji mushrooms, cheese chicken, gizzard marinated in salt, simmered wagyu beef, clam chowder.
- Sashimi platter: Canadian bluefin tuna, bonito from Kochi, amberjack from Rausu, striped horse mackerel from Nagasaki, sea urchin, natural flounder from Awaji. The amberjack was recommended, and although the portion was huge, everything was delicious.
- Grilled salted amberjack: A surprise dish made from the leftover amberjack from the sashimi platter.
- Hokkaido salt-grilled cod milt: A perfect match for the cold sake.
- Camembert cheese fry: Topped generously with strawberry jam.
- Dashi-maki tamago: A fluffy rolled omelette bursting with dashi flavor.
- Ankimo from Shimane: Enjoyed with ponzu sauce.
- Herbal curry: A flavorful and light curry that you can't stop eating.
Everything was delicious at this izakaya. The sashimi was excellent, but the highlight was the dashi-maki tamago. Each dish had a generous portion, so be careful not to overeat. I'm so full now. Thank you for the feast!
