For my partner's birthday celebration, we made a reservation for a Suppon (softshell turtle) hot pot course after attending Ichinosuke's solo performance. It was so hot today! So we started with some cold beer. The appetizer was squid and scallop in vinegar - really high quality! The individual dishes were so satisfying that you could almost make a meal out of them. The course included Fugu (pufferfish) sashimi, Fugu tempura, Suppon hot pot, and porridge. We also added some fresh bonito and horse mackerel sashimi. The Fugu sashimi was sliced thick and had a rich flavor that defied its mild image. The texture of the skin was indescribably good. The added bonito was tender, and the horse mackerel was fatty and delicious. The Fugu tempura had a nice bounce to it and was also delicious. The sake went down smoothly. Now, onto the eagerly awaited Suppon hot pot! I had it for the first time and it was amazing - the gelatinous parts were both firm and melt-in-your-mouth, while the meaty parts were almost like chicken. I didn't realize Suppon could be so tasty. The broth was also delicious. A hot pot in the middle of summer isn't so bad! After enjoying all the vegetables, we finished with the porridge - so delicious. I couldn't help but eat every last grain. I definitely want to visit again. I also want to try their eel.

I was invited to go eat eel hot pot in Yoyogi-Uehara, Yamagata, which is the season for eating eel! I only had the image of boiled eel, so I was happy to discover the hot pot version! The eel's delicate taste mixed elegantly with the subtle broth, making it the most delicate hot pot dish ever. I also had boiled eel and tempura, and even tried the extra-large size of turban shell. It's a menu that I wouldn't have chosen on my own, so I'm grateful for the opportunity to try it out. Thank you for the delicious meal! I want to go again!

The grilled sea cucumber was thick and delicious, the hotpot was full of collagen, and even the rice soup at the end was delicious. The crispy fin sake I drank after a long time was delicious.

I think it is a family-run business, but I was surprised and grateful for how warm and welcoming the staff at the restaurant were. The three of us had a meal of softshell turtle dishes, and we were impressed by the freshness, deliciousness, and portion sizes. Thank you very much.

Any dish from this restaurant is delicious. It is family-owned and a bit local, so the prices are reasonable.

Yoyogi-Uehara's shopping street has a very ordinary izakaya. It's really ordinary, but the taste is delicious! I thought there were no good restaurants for conger eel in Tokyo, but this place is delicious. I am satisfied. The staff at the restaurant are also very friendly and fun.

I walked about 10 minutes from Yoyogi-Uehara Station and found a restaurant called "Suppon Nabe". I had the Suppon Nabe set meal, which included sashimi of conger eel, deep-fried conger eel, fresh oysters, Suppon Nabe (softshell turtle hot pot), and porridge. All the dishes before the Suppon Nabe were delicious, especially the conger eel which was firm and tasty. The meat of the softshell turtle was also firm with a good texture and easy to eat without any strong flavors. I also enjoyed the blowfish fin sake. The restaurant mostly had spacious tatami seating.

Tokyo is a restaurant located in front of Yoyogi-Uehara Station that specializes in anglerfish, blowfish, and softshell turtle hot pot, with eel and seafood also on the menu. Yoyogi-Uehara has many trendy restaurants, but this place has a traditional feel with a fish tank visible from outside where blowfish swim around. The interior is spacious with tatami seating as the main option, along with regular tables, and everything is kept clean and tidy. This time, I tried anglerfish liver, clams, blowfish skin with ponzu sauce, and oysters as snacks with a few glasses of shochu. The presentation was beautiful and everything was delicious! I might try the hot pot or eel next time, as everything seems to be of high quality here. I will definitely be back soon.

A shop that debuted with Karube's softshell turtle. The debut was in 2013. I had always wanted to try authentic softshell turtle, so I considered debuting at Sakura Ta in Azabu-Juban, where I knew the owner, but the average customer spending exceeds 20,000 yen, which was a bit too much for my wallet. In the midst of this, I came across "Yamagata"さん☆ at this shop, you can order a softshell turtle hot pot as a single item♪ By the way, the name "Yamagata" is said to be because the first generation was from Yamagata, which made me feel a sense of closeness as my grandmother is also from Yamagata. ■ Sashimi ⇒ You can order sashimi as a single item, with fresh shellfish and sea urchin. ■ Softshell turtle hot pot ⇒ At the time I visited, it was 3,000 yen, which was a great price for a softshell turtle hot pot. Finally, it's time for my softshell turtle debut. The softshell turtle had a protein-like taste similar to chicken meat. When I sipped the soup, my body felt warm and cozy. ※ It seems that you can now order it for 5,000 yen. ■ Rice porridge ⇒ After feeling warm and cozy from the softshell turtle, I ordered rice porridge. It was incredibly delicious. I nodded in agreement while eating, realizing the taste of softshell turtle broth. The course meal using a whole softshell turtle costs 18,000 yen (including "fresh blood," "softshell turtle sashimi (heart, gallbladder, sashimi, liver)," "softshell turtle hot pot," "rice porridge," "pickles"), which can be quite expensive, with an average customer spending of over 10,000 yen depending on the purpose. However, the welcoming atmosphere for all, including common people, left a good impression. ★ ■ Karube's blog ⇒ http://ameblo.jp/yusuke-karube/ [Search for Karube's softshell turtle♪]

[Revisit] 2013/7 The scorching heat of this summer made me crave for some eel, so I decided to go for an eel feast right in the middle of the week! In Yamagata, they have a unique way of serving eel, by cutting it right from the live tank. This time, I enjoyed my eel feast right next to where the eels were swimming. It seems they had a new course called the "eel feast set menu" which looked quite reasonable, so I ordered that. The set included eel sashimi, tempura, chawanmushi, eel shabu-shabu, and zosui, and it was a very satisfying course. Each dish was generous in portion and quality, providing a true eel feast experience. The eel was rich in flavor, with a clean and firm texture. You just can't get through the summer without having this! The couple who runs the place seemed extra kind this time, and the service was great too! Next, I plan to go for some eel on the day of the Ox! [Revisit] 2012/2/18 It's the season for delicious anglerfish hot pot, so without hesitation, I decided to visit Yamagata in Yoyogi Uehara. Just to be safe, I called around 6 pm to reserve a table and the ingredients for the anglerfish hot pot. When I arrived at the restaurant, it was almost full, so it was a close call. Here's what we had: - Sea cucumber - Mirugai sashimi - Aoyagi sashimi - Thick rolled omelette - Ankimo - Shirako with ponzu sauce - Fugu sashimi - Fugu tempura - Anglerfish hot pot - Sesame pudding They had received some fresh natural fugu that day, so we also tried the fugu sashimi and fugu tempura. It was so rich and meaty! Completely different from chain restaurant fugu... Each dish was truly delicious, and I couldn't help but eat a lot. They serve the anglerfish whole in the hot pot, and you get to enjoy the bone broth in the zosui at the end, which is a luxurious experience. The landlady took care of the hot pot, so even as an anglerfish hot pot beginner, I was able to enjoy it. This time, there was also a young landlady who provided very refreshing service, and overall, I was extremely satisfied. So, I've decided to revisit. Next time, I plan to try the softshell turtle. 2011/8/5 Visited around 19:00. I was in the mood for something summery, so I decided to visit this restaurant. When you think of a place in Tokyo where you can eat pike conger, you might think of certain French or sushi restaurants, but they are all quite pricey (laughs). However, at this restaurant, I was able to enjoy delicious pike conger dishes at a reasonable price. Of course, pike conger itself is not cheap, so even though it's more affordable than usual izakayas, it's still a bit on the pricier side... Here's what we had: - Leaf ginger - Tsubugai sashimi - Pike conger sashimi - Pike conger tempura - Kamo eggplant with pike conger sauce - Pike conger chawanmushi - Fugu zosui The standout dishes were the tsubugai sashimi and pike conger sashimi! The tsubugai sashimi had a sweetness almost like abalone! The pike conger sashimi had a tender and gentle texture with a bit of chewiness from the skin that made it like "This is the pike conger" (laughs). I apologize for the vague descriptions... I also wanted to try the pike conger shabu-shabu and pike conger sushi, but they had run out of pike conger by around 21:00, so I had to give up. I should have ordered them in advance... (tears) So, we ended up with fugu for the finale for some reason (laughs). By the way, I rated the service lower because the overall service was a bit lax. However, it's not that they were rude or had a bad attitude or anything like that. In personal eateries or traditional Japanese-style restaurants, I kind of expect a "landlady in a chef's jacket and a young landlady in a kimono" kind of vibe... Sorry for my random imagination. If there were staff with a more traditional restaurant vibe, it would be even better... I'll definitely visit again when I feel like having pike conger! Next time, I definitely want to try the pike conger shabu-shabu and pike conger sushi...

Tokyo is a restaurant located in front of Yoyogi-uehara Station that specializes in anglerfish, fugu, and turtle hot pot dishes. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is calm and it is bustling with a wide range of customers. Although the restaurant is known for its anglerfish hot pot, due to the request of an old friend and the spring weather, we decided to order mainly dishes to go with alcohol instead of hot pot. Thanks to the soft and rich flavor of the anglerfish liver, the alcohol kept flowing smoothly. The simmered kinki fish, assorted sashimi, and grilled clams that followed were irresistible to those who enjoy drinking. Despite being a regular customer, we received special treatment from the owner, making it a wonderfully enjoyable feast. With great taste and excellent service, there is nothing to complain about. It was a great restaurant with excellent cost-effectiveness. I would like to come back again. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Fugu "Yamagata" @ Yoyogi-Uehara <<Date and time created: 2010/12/12 23:16>> Blog feelings 0/ Trackbacks 0/ Comments 0 Bruno said, "I want to eat fugu." So, we went to a restaurant that had caught our attention for a while. For the appetizer, we had some fugu that was firm and slightly chewy, followed by a toast with fin sake. The shirako (milt) that we had was delicious, unlike the salmon shirako that Alex had tried before in Yoyogi-Uehara. The main dish of thinly sliced fugu was Sa's favorite, and the ankimo (monkfish liver) was a big hit with Bruno, who compared it to fresh foie gras. Alex and Bruno relaxed and enjoyed the miso soup, onigiri, and dessert. Everything was delicious!
