It has a high-class feel. The streets of Gion are nice. There's a good selection of Suntory highballs. The regular yellow label, Old, and White Horse are ice-cold. It was great because there were three of us. They also serve vodka ginger pickles, so the Moscow mule was pretty good. I really like Suntory.

On a humid evening in the hot summer, I was surprised by several sudden showers after noon. In such an evening, I had a meeting with two acquaintances. One was feeling apologetic for wearing a kimono in the rain, and the other was delayed due to a significant delay in the bullet train. It was a relief for me to have the meeting. We started with a toast with highballs. The person who sweated a lot due to the delay quickly drank two highballs. I started earlier and tried other cocktails, but I really liked the Rob Roy which was thick and just the way I like it. After that, we had another party, and it was truly appreciated in many ways.

Located a 6-8 minute walk from Gion Shijo Station, Gion Sambor is a popular bar with high ratings that has branches all over Japan. It was selected as one of the top 100 bars in 2022. It's relatively easy to find a seat anytime, making it easy to drop by. They open from 3 pm on weekends, so you can enjoy drinks from lunchtime. This time, I tried the Gin Buck. The classic Gin Buck is served in a thinly crafted glass with plenty of ice, giving it a refreshing carbonated finish. The subtle lime flavor is impressive, and the charm nuts are fragrant and go perfectly with the cocktail! When looking for a bar in Kyoto, this place is very convenient, so be sure to visit. Bar [Tabelog Top 100 Bars 2022] ■ Highball ■ Highball without ice I rarely visit bars, but while strolling around Gion and having some time to spare, I decided to visit the bar "Gion Sambor". Established in 1972, it is known as a bar where celebrities from various fields gather and is an essential part of Kyoto's bar culture. There are over 10 branches including in Tokyo and Osaka. For my first drink, I ordered a regular highball. For my second drink, I tried their specialty "highball without ice", made with either Kakko or White Horse whiskey. I opted for White Horse for a slightly smoky aroma and flavor. They poured chilled White Horse whiskey and carbonated water into the glass. The total cost for two drinks was ¥3,000 (tax included). Enjoying the highball in a calm atmosphere, I felt like I was getting tipsy faster than usual and enjoyed the pleasant evening breeze.

Gion in Kyoto, Bar Hyakumeiten, Gion Sanboa. Around 10 pm on weekdays, almost full. It's essential to check for availability on weekends. The regulars and tourists are about half and half. The master is young and provides attentive service. I had a highball and a Moscow Mule. The Moscow Mule uses homemade liqueur. Located in Gion, the interior is like an old folk house. I had a wonderful night in the nostalgic atmosphere. It was enchanting. Thank you for the meal.

From Hanamikoji Street towards Higashiyama, I've been to various Sanboas in different places, but Gion Sanboa has a unique charm. As soon as you enter, you feel the relaxed and elegant atmosphere, with a master who exudes sophistication. I started with a highball without ice, served ice-cold in a square glass. The quality remains consistent. For my second drink, I had a gimlet. Although I have another place to visit, I wish I could stay longer at Sanboa. Kyoto, especially Gion, is a wonderful city.

I visited "Gion Sambor" located in the city of Kyoto, known as the capital of 1000 years. This bar has been selected as one of the top 100 bars on Tabelog in 2022. Congratulations! Established in 1972, it is a long-standing bar where the current owner, Mizuki Nakagawa, is the 4th generation. Mr. Nakagawa has trained at famous bars in Tokyo and other places. The bar is located about a 5-minute walk from Gion Shijo Station on the Keihan Main Line. Situated in a quaint alley off Higashioji Street, the atmosphere of Kyoto can be felt in the surroundings. The interior of the bar is a stylish space with a calm color scheme. Behind the long wooden counter, you can see a small garden through the glass. In the backyard, numerous bottles are displayed. Today, I had a cocktail made with kumquats. It was a refreshing cocktail with fresh kumquats as the base and gin. It had a smooth and refreshing taste. This is a bar that you would want to visit when in Kyoto. Thank you for the meal.

I did some research and found a highball without ice, so I entered the restaurant and ordered it. The staff immediately knew what I was talking about and said it was their specialty. It was a unique experience - a highball without ice that was strong yet not too cold, with a perfect balance of flavor and aroma. I enjoyed sipping it slowly and found that I could keep drinking it without feeling rushed. I might actually prefer this over the regular highball. Drinking a highball slowly and savoring the flavors was a great experience.

Today I visited Sanbo, a long-established shop founded in 1972. I used to visit a few times before, but it had been a while since my last visit. I went around 3:30 pm on a weekend, as they open at 3 pm. Unlike many other places where you stand while drinking, here you can sit and relax. I was unsure of what to order, but I decided on a highball. Sanbo's specialty is a highball without ice, but I chose one with ice since I picked Hakushu whiskey. It was delicious and satisfying. I would like to visit again.

Bar Sanboa is a place where you can relax and spend time at ease. I enjoyed a White Horse highball without ice, which is a specialty of Sanboa. I also tried Ben Nevis straight, which is not commonly found. It was a bit expensive, but the interesting difference in aroma and taste made it worth trying.

Gion Sanboa Bar 2022 Top 100 Awarded Restaurant This is a long-established bar opened in Gion, Kyoto in 1972. "Gion Sanboa" is one of the three "Sanboa" bars in Kyoto, along with "Kyoto Sanboa" and "Pontocho Sanboa". The current third-generation master, Mizuki Nakagawa, trained at famous bars in Tokyo and other places. The bar has over 300 bottles lined up inside, and you can order various cocktails. The specialty is the highball without ice served in a glass with "SANBOA" written on it. For some reason, it tastes different from highballs you drink elsewhere. First visit. A long-established bar in Gion. Their specialty is a highball without ice. It's Gion, it's nighttime. Normally, I would never drink at a fancy bar like this, but the stunning scenery of Gion has got me all excited. I had delicious sushi, but since I'm in Gion, I'll go to a second place. Gion is said to have a lot of places that don't accept first-time customers, but Sanboa is fine with it. I didn't have a reservation, but I was able to get in. The interior of the bar is chic with wooden counter seats. Just being here makes you feel tipsy. I planned to have just one drink, so I ordered their specialty highball without ice. It's made by mixing chilled whiskey with well-chilled carbonated water. I see, without ice, the aroma remains stable from start to finish, which is great. I only planned to have one drink, but I'm in a good mood, so I had another one. I specified rum as the base and left the rest to the bartender. What came out was a Daiquiri. But instead of lime, they used grapefruit for the Daiquiri. Sipping on it slowly, I'm in a great mood. The night in Gion is just beginning. Highball, Daiquiri, total bill was a little over 3000 yen. I don't usually drink at bars, so I can't give it a rating.

The interior of the store, renovated from a tea house building, exudes a sense of warmth with its wooden decor. The Sanboa-style highball, made by pouring double shots of chilled blended whiskey into a glass, mixing it with chilled soda water, and skipping the ice, was indeed delicious. Thank you for the meal. I opened the wooden door of Gion Sanbo with special feelings during my Kyoto drinking trip. A single counter and a humble master welcomed me. I ordered a highball, just like the ones I had in Ginza, Sukiyabashi, and Asakusa. The frozen bottle and coaster arrived together. Glug, glug, gulp! Delicious! This is the best, right? The highball evaporated smoothly, so I ordered a Calvados highball next. Even though I had never tried anything other than a highball in Tokyo, I confidently placed my order. I enjoyed the stable balance and smokiness. Thank you for the meal. I turned into a white heron and left. I don't know when I'll be back, but I'll visit again!
