This is the pickle section of a Ginza pickle shop located on the basement floor of Daimaru Tokyo store. Starting from Nara pickles in 1953, they now specialize in light pickles that can be enjoyed like a salad. I visited this shop while buying Nara pickles next door at Yamatoya Morikuchi, to pair with eel kabayaki on the day before the Day of the Ox. The variety of pickles available, including Nara pickles and nukazuke, was impressive, but I ended up purchasing the "Assorted Light Pickles" containing about 4 different types, 140g for 496 yen. It included cucumbers, red turnips, and Chinese cabbage, making it quite visually appealing. For dinner that day, I first had eel bowl and beer. After finishing the eel bowl, I enjoyed the Nara pickles and light pickles as a snack with highball. When it comes to snacks to enjoy with drinks after a meal, nuts or cheese are good options, but the light pickles were the best in terms of being refreshing. Thanks to them, I was able to enjoy my drink. Additionally, I tried eating the Nara pickles from Yamatoya wrapped in seaweed with wasabi, a method I learned from their website. This shop is reliable for all kinds of pickles.

Welcome.---------- 2020.08----------It seems to be a famous pickle shop in Tokyo. Miso-pickled tofu has a sweetness and saltiness that doesn't make you feel like you're eating tofu. It's a perfect match for alcohol. I want to try various pickles, but it seems unknown to Hokkaido residents.

On this day in November 2019, I went to Tokyo Station. I got off at JR Tokyo Station, went out from the Yaesu exit underground, and headed straight to "Daimaru Tokyo Department Store". I bought a bento box for dinner and then looked for some snacks for home drinking. After looking around the floor, I decided to purchase from a pickle shop called "Ginza Wakana". On this day, I purchased the following items: 1) Assorted pickles with rice bran, tax included 378 yen. It has the "umami of lactic acid fermentation". I love pickles, especially cucumber pickles, so I couldn't resist this one. It tasted like a professional's touch rather than a homemade taste. 2) Two-color bettara pickles, tax included 540 yen. It is a "Tokyo specialty, Edo flavor". I enjoyed the different textures and flavors of the two types of bettara pickles. I don't drink at home often, but I was able to enjoy my drink with these delicious snacks.

Recently, it has become easy to purchase Ginza Wakana and Kishu Nanko Ume online or on Amazon. The three-year pickled plums have a salt content of 22%, making them pleasantly sour and quite addictive. I personally enjoy eating them on their own rather than with rice. They make a great accompaniment to alcohol. Check out my blog for more details: https://zan3tho.com

I visited this restaurant based on a strong recommendation from someone who had tried the souvenirs a week ago. I chose three items from the many products available. The cheese miso pickles tasted great with sake at home, and also paired well with wine. It was funny to find out they were also sold at Haneda Airport after going through the trouble of purchasing them at Daimaru. Overall, everything was of very high quality.

Today's arrival at Tokyo Station is at 8:30 PM. I explored some unlisted stores in Daimaru underground. One of the places I liked and stopped by was the pickled vegetables shop "Ginza Wakana Daimaru Tokyo Store," my first visit. I bought the "Assorted Colorful Pickles 500 yen" for a snack. I like lightly pickled vegetables, so it was my kind of pickles. It was delicious to snack on, not just as a side dish for rice.

I visited here as the 7th stop for food procurement at "Daimaru Tokyo Store". It was around 11:10 am on a weekday. I wanted some snacks for beer and chopstick rest for my bento. The store is located on the basement 1st floor of "Daimaru Tokyo Store", near the south escalator. There was a large refrigerated showcase in front, displaying various pickled vegetables. The smell of pickles was lingering in the air. Most of the pickled vegetables were sold individually or in bags, with a few assortment options. I purchased a pack containing small amounts of pickled eggplant, pickled Chinese cabbage, pickled red turnip, and salted cucumber with rice malt (500 yen). I started eating them as soon as the Shinkansen "Nozomi" departed from Tokyo Station (around 11:30 am). All four types of pickles were quite delicious. They had a fresh taste, not too salty. The "pickled Chinese cabbage" with yuzu flavor and the "pickled eggplant" with a refined sweetness were particularly memorable.

I was searching for something to go with alcohol and came across this. I purchased tofu miso pickles and smoked tomato yuzu jelly at the basement of Daimaru Tokyo store. The smoked tofu comes in a stylish package, with tofu slices in a square transparent case. It's easy to eat, with a texture between cheese and dip. The flavor is strong, like soft smoked cheese. Quite delicious. When paired with crackers, the flavor balance is just right. The tomato is skinless and whole, with yuzu peel and jelly. When tasted, it's like tomato pickles! The jelly can be paired with salad for a complete meal. It was interesting as a unique snack.

I always love cheese miso pickles and nagaimo with shiso dressing. I usually buy them as snacks on the Shinkansen or as souvenirs from department stores like Daimaru or Shinagawa Ecute. However, while working as a consultant for a ginger shop, I became interested in ginger processed products and decided to try them out. Despite the plain packaging that I wouldn't normally buy, I was reminded that taking risks can lead to discoveries and excitement. The package uses navy blue, making it look unappealing and not visually appetizing. It's also brown and lacks Instagrammable colors. But the real surprise is inside! Instead of regular ginger, it has a crunchy texture like fresh ginger, and the balance of spiciness and soy sauce saltiness is excellent. Once you try it, you can't stop! It's perfect on rice, as a side dish for alcohol, or as a flavorful addition to various dishes. I'm even considering using it in dashimaki tamago or other dishes. So many possibilities!

At the Tokyo Station basement food hall, I searched for pickled Chinese cabbage. It wasn't available at the first shop, nor at the Kyoto pickles shop. I held out hope at a shop in the Ginza basement, and found what I was looking for - pickled Chinese cabbage with Hokkaido kelp. I also picked up a variety of seasonal pickles, including Chinese cabbage, bell peppers, cucumbers, daikon radish, and edamame. I purchased two bags for 432 yen and 486 yen, each containing about 100g. The seasonal pickles had a colorful mix of vegetables and a mild, soft flavor. The pickled Chinese cabbage I was looking for was just as expected.

White rice with pickles is delicious. If there are tasty pickles, the rice goes down smoothly. As expected, I am Japanese (*^^)v I purchased some pickles for home use at Tokyo Station. I really love the pickles here. I heard that originally it was a pickle shop from Nagoya that changed its name and expanded to Tokyo. The most famous one is pickled daikon radish, but it's not available this season, so I bought my favorite pickled eggplant instead. I have bought this many times because it's light and delicious. I also bought the seasonal myoga pickles, which have a sophisticated flavor and are delicious. All the pickles here are tasty. The seasonal items are unique and can be enjoyed like a salad. These pickles can also be purchased in Nagoya, but when it comes to souvenirs, I always end up choosing my favorites, don't I? (*^^)v

I purchased pickles at Ginza Wakana in Daimaru Tokyo on May 7, 2014. Ginza Wakana is a pickle shop with a variety of Western-style and unique souvenir products. The Tomato Yuzu Jelly is priced at 540 yen per piece, but it's worth it. It's a pickle made with a whole tomato in white wine and yuzu flavor, giving it a refreshing taste. It's perfect for summer and goes well with somen noodles. The Miso Koji Rakukyo, priced at 540 yen for 132g, has a gentle miso flavor and a crunchy texture, with a strong Rakukyo flavor. It was really delicious, but the next day, it had a strong smell. Still, I would definitely eat it again if it's available. The Zui Zei, priced at 756 yen for 120g, is a tofu miso pickle made with Shinshu miso as a base. The tofu is well-pickled, giving it a matured umami flavor like cheese. I had it with rice, but I think it would go perfectly with sake as well. I enjoyed the unique and delicious flavors, and I look forward to trying other products next time.

Last time, when I went to Tokyo, I bought some souvenirs. On that day, I had plenty of time before my appointment, so I was wandering around Tokyo Station as usual. And then, I found Ginza Wakana. Even though I was trying not to buy any souvenirs that day, my feet naturally took me towards the food section. I couldn't help it. Ginza Wakana is known for its unique pickles, so I wanted to try something different for the season, but the fact that it needed to be refrigerated was a problem. After consulting with the staff, I decided to buy two kinds of tofu miso pickles. One was "KUN" for 840 yen, which was said to go well with wine. I had a little taste, and it was a bit spicy for me because of the miso and alcohol content. I thought it would go better with sake instead of wine. Luckily, my friend who drinks alcohol tried it and said it was delicious. The other one was "ZEI" for 735 yen, which I bought for my tofu-loving father. It was recommended to cut it with a thread, but I managed to cut it with a knife without any problems. It had a creamy texture similar to cream cheese. It was easier to eat compared to "KUN".

Next to Tokyo Station, there is a food market in the basement of Daimaru Tokyo where you can enjoy just browsing around. I didn't have a specific purpose in mind, but as I walked around, I stopped at Ginza Wakana, a specialty pickle shop located at the end of the market. They have various pickles displayed in the showcase, and what caught my eye was the Tomato Yuzu Jelly made with a whole tomato. I was surprised to see this as a pickle, but since I have tried pickled tomatoes before, it didn't seem too strange. The Tomato Yuzu Jelly, finished with white wine and yuzu, looked stylish and elegant. I decided to buy four of them for my husband, myself, and my in-laws. While browsing, another item that caught my attention was the Tofu Miso Pickle, which seemed like a good snack to have with wine. I purchased one of the smoked miso-marinated tofu for tasting. When we returned home, we had it as an appetizer before dinner, like a wine snack. The Tomato Yuzu Jelly felt more like a salad than a wine snack, and I couldn't taste the wine flavor much, maybe because we were drinking wine alongside it. The jelly looked beautiful and elegant, like a marinated whole tomato. On the other hand, the Tofu Miso Pickle had a simple visual appearance but had a cheese-like texture with a light smoky flavor, making it a perfect wine snack. While my family enjoyed it with beer, they also requested it for the next time, so it was a definite purchase decision. It was a delightful shop where we could enjoy delicious pickles. We had a great meal. Thank you!

I went to Daimaru to buy the cheese soaked in sake lees that I was interested in on TV. There were many delicious pickles that caught my eye, but I bought the cheese soaked in sake lees that I was looking for. I was also drawn to the one with oranges for a limited time, so I bought that as well. When I got home, I ate it with a baguette I bought separately, and it was incredibly delicious. The cheese had a flavor similar to rum, almost like a dessert. I will definitely revisit to buy more pickles next time.

This is a souvenir from my husband. There are various delicious pickles with a unique taste. I have tried Nara pickles, kombu daikon, Ginza pickles, Amanatsu Honoka, takuan, etc. Among them, I particularly like takuan because it is simply delicious, so my husband always buys it for me.

It seems that the pickle specialty store Daikoku Tokyo, with a 70-year history in Ginza, has opened a new branch. There were quite a few intriguing pickles available, but I decided to try the Tomato Yuzu Jelly that looked like it could be a snack. I bought it for 572 yen (tax included). The accompanying card suggested recipes like Tomato Green Salad and Tomato Jelly Somen, but I decided to eat it as it is. The yuzu flavor paired well with the chilled tomato. I look forward to trying out various pickles in the future at this store.

The day after visiting Tokyo last month, I was still concerned about crowds and decided not to dine at a restaurant, but instead bought some pickles as souvenirs at Daimaru Tokyo store "Ginza Wakana". I wanted to buy the miso-marinated tofu that I heard about from reviews, but they were not selling it at the moment, so I ended up buying the cheese-flavored miso pickles in the photo. It was perfect as a snack with alcohol! It was so addictive. I also bought some pickled vegetables and Edo-style eggs, but they were eaten by my partner before I could take a picture. Thank you for the delicious meal!

Celebrating my aunt's birthday at my parents' house, we had a meal, snacks, and let the kids set off fireworks. Afterwards, we gathered at home with the team that stayed behind. Since I wanted to drink, my husband, who dislikes driving, reluctantly drove us. We all thought he was going to buy crackers for the cheese that my sister's husband brought as a souvenir, but he ended up walking to buy salmon terrine. Despite there being 54 crackers, they disappeared in no time. We hurried to eat and managed to secure two crackers to try different types of cheese. The sake lees cheese was particularly delicious. Cheers! 🍷
