I had breakfast at this restaurant. It is located inside Hotel Okura, but non-guests can also use it. I moved from a budget hotel with only a shower in the city to this place. It's truly Hotel Okura. The lobby on the first floor was elegant and filled with a sense of luxury. It's on a different level from the hotel I stayed at. The food is as shown in the photo. It has a Kyoto-style subtle flavor. You are asked to choose between rice, tea porridge, or plain porridge at the beginning. The plain porridge is just plain rice porridge with nothing added. After choosing one of the three, you are then asked if you want red miso soup or white miso soup. I chose plain porridge and asked for white miso, but I made a mistake. Be careful, everyone.

I was invited by a local and had a pleasant time with kind employees. They even helped tidy up the place as I had a toddler with me. The tempura was delicious. The green pea rice had a subtle saltiness, and the pickles were well-seasoned. Thank you for the meal.

During my first visit to Hotel Okura Kyoto, I had breakfast at the 6th floor Japanese restaurant. Although there was a buffet option available, I chose the traditional Japanese breakfast with rice. I opted for red miso soup, which paired perfectly with the rice. The breakfast was delicious and one of the best I've had at a hotel. The breakfast was included in the room rate and the set breakfast is apparently priced at 3,267 yen including tax.

I used it for a celebration. When using the restaurant, you can park for free for 3 hours in the underground parking lot of Okura. The private room with a view of the garden costs around 5,000 to 6,000 yen, while the tatami room without a garden view costs 3,300 yen. The lunch course is 8,740 yen per person including tax. I remember that a beer costs around 1,000 yen. Other than the fact that drinks come a little slowly after ordering, it is a calm space where you can enjoy your meal.

The day before, I had a big plan to have fun with maiko and geiko, and ended up partying at a cabaret club in Gion. I woke up to a phone call from a friend inviting me to go eat somen at Kibune. However, I couldn't get up because of a hangover. I took a hot bath, showered with cold water, and tried to sweat out the alcohol. As I did this, I tried to remember what happened yesterday. I remembered eating yakiniku along Kamogawa River, interacting with maiko, and drinking at a cabaret club, but after that, my memory was blank. I drank water, sweat out the alcohol, and felt a bit better, so I decided to search for a Kyoto cuisine restaurant on Tabelog. I found a highly-rated restaurant called "Irifune" in Hotel Okura Kyoto nearby and decided to go there alone. The atmosphere at Okura was nice, and the menu was a bit pricey starting at over 6000 yen including tax. I ordered a bottle of beer and the Irifune bento. The dishes were delicious and soothing, and despite my hangover, I enjoyed them. The staff was friendly, and even though I initially thought it was expensive, I left the restaurant feeling satisfied. It was a very delicious meal.

I have visited the Japanese restaurant "Nyofune" at Hotel Okura Kyoto more than 20 times. I used to go there for lunch with my mother-in-law who lives in a nursing home. We regularly visit Kyoto and take my mother-in-law out of the home to have lunch at a Japanese restaurant. Although I tried various Japanese restaurants in Kyoto, my mother-in-law's favorite was always "Nyofune". The reasons she liked it were, in my imagination, ① the delicious and appealing dishes, ② the availability of table seating (as sitting on tatami mats can be uncomfortable for her legs), ③ the excellent service provided by experienced staff, and ④ the beautiful view of Mt. Hiei and the changing seasons from the window seats. Hotel Okura Kyoto is a long-established luxury hotel in Kyoto, and "Nyofune" was once awarded one Michelin star. Due to the pandemic, we were unable to take my mother-in-law out, but we recently stayed at Hotel Okura Kyoto and had breakfast there for the first time. We usually only have lunch, so having breakfast was a new experience for us. The breakfast set costs 2700 yen (including tax) and we chose the white rice option with red miso. The set also included tofu with scallops, simmered pork belly with potatoes, and daikon radish stew. Although the salmon was cold, the quality was good. The hot dishes, such as the simmered pork belly and potatoes, were delicious. The side dishes included shredded dried fish with soy sauce, simmered lotus root, vinegar-marinated octopus, pickles, and tofu topped with scallops. While it didn't quite match the excitement of the lunch bento we used to enjoy, we were able to enjoy a cozy breakfast. I still miss the lunch bento! I hope we can visit again with my mother-in-law in the future.

During my trip to Kyoto, I stayed at Hotel Okura. The location was great and the hotel was very convenient to use. I stayed for 2 nights and I chose the Japanese breakfast option. Even though I usually can't finish my meals, the food was so delicious that I ate it all both days. I'm so glad to be Japanese! The salmon was the same both days, but the side dishes were mostly different and all very tasty. You could choose between rice porridge, rice, and the unusual tea porridge, which I found interesting. I don't usually make porridge at home, so I ended up ordering it here. If I stay here again, I will definitely choose this breakfast option. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I came to Hotel Okura to have breakfast at Irifune-san's Japanese breakfast. The price was ¥3,267, which felt a bit expensive for breakfast, but it was very delicious! The 6th floor of Kyoto Okura is spacious. I'm not a big fan of meals at big hotels or inns, but Hotel Okura stands out with its delicious Japanese and Western breakfast offerings. Irifune-san's Japanese set meal allows you to choose your rice: okayu (rice porridge), chagayu (rice porridge with tea), or white rice. I chose chagayu and for miso soup, I chose the blended option. After a 5-minute wait, it arrived! First, the chagayu. The tea flavor is nice and it's delicious, perfect for breakfast! The other dishes besides the chagayu were also delicious. While the appearance may be similar to a typical inn's breakfast, the taste is completely different. The food is authentic and well-seasoned, and I enjoyed it. The side dishes and simmered dishes were also good. I think, breakfast is when the true value of a restaurant or inn is tested when you don't have an appetite. A place where breakfast tastes good is a good place, don't you think? Breakfast is the start of the day. Thank you for the delicious breakfast. That's all for today. Thank you for the meal.

This time, I visited "Kyoryori Iruka" on the 6th floor of Kyoto Hotel Okura. The first day was Western cuisine, the second day was Japanese cuisine, and although the Western cuisine was delicious, the Japanese cuisine was so good that I chose it again on the third day. - Visit: around 7:00 - Restaurant: A beautiful restaurant where you can feel the elegant Japanese atmosphere, with a view of the Higashiyama 36 Peaks and the cityscape through the window overlooking the Japanese garden. - Staff: The staff, dressed in uniforms, were very attentive. Japanese breakfast (3,267 yen including tax): Japanese breakfast includes a choice of white rice, white porridge, or tea porridge, and you can choose between red miso or mixed miso for the miso soup. This time, I requested tea porridge and red miso, which I hadn't had the day before. The Japanese breakfast is made with a variety of ingredients, and it seems that the dishes are slightly different for guests staying multiple nights. - Fish dish: Grilled silver whiting with Saikyo miso, served with shishito pepper and grated daikon. - Egg dish: Rolled omelette with pickled ginger. - Simmered dish: Eggplant, green beans, and konnyaku. - Side dish: Komatsuna and aburaage salad with bonito flakes. - Three side dishes: Yuba topped with salmon roe, dried young sardines with sansho pepper flavor, pickles, simmered dish. - Fragrant dish: Cucumber, turnip, pickled plum. - Iruka seaweed: Seasoned seaweed. - Rice: Large pickled plum in the center of tea porridge. - Miso soup: Red miso with tofu and wakame seaweed. A truly delicious breakfast, especially the tea porridge is recommended. Despite feeling full and satisfied, the meal leaves you wanting more, stimulating your appetite. An impressive breakfast that I haven't had in a long time. This restaurant not only offers delicious food but also provides a high level of elegance, atmosphere, and service, resulting in a high level of satisfaction. If I were to rate the dinner course, I might give it a perfect score of 5. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

This time, I visited "Kyoryori Irifune" on the 6th floor of Kyoto Hotel Okura. I booked a stay with breakfast included, and chose the Japanese breakfast option for the second day. - Visit: Around 7:00 am - Restaurant: A beautiful restaurant with a high-class Japanese atmosphere. You can see the Higashiyama 36 Peaks and the cityscape through the window overlooking the Japanese garden. - Staff: The staff, dressed in uniforms, were very attentive. Japanese Breakfast (3,267 yen including tax): The breakfast included options like white rice, white rice porridge, or tea porridge, and you could choose between red miso soup or combined miso. I chose white rice and combined miso. The breakfast was served promptly while I enjoyed a delicious hojicha tea and the view of the Higashiyama mountains at sunrise. The Japanese breakfast featured a variety of dishes: - Fish dish: Grilled salmon with shishito peppers and daikon salad - Egg dish: Rolled omelette with pickled ginger - Simmered dish: Eel with taro and turnip - Side dish: Komatsuna and fried tofu with bonito flakes - Three small dishes: Clam simmered in soy sauce, pickled vegetables, carrots and green beans - Aromatic dish: Turnip, kelp, pickled plum - Irifune seaweed: Seasoned seaweed - Rice: Refills available in a traditional wooden rice container - Miso soup: Tofu and seaweed in combined miso soup Overall, the dishes had a gentle flavor that highlighted the natural taste of the ingredients. Rather than just a few standout dishes, I enjoyed a delicious Kyoto cuisine experience in every aspect. This restaurant offers a high-class experience with excellent food, atmosphere, and service. After this delightful meal, I will head to Ohara for a little excursion. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Located on the 6th floor of Hotel Okura Kyoto, "Kyoryori Irifune" offers meticulously crafted traditional Japanese breakfast. There are two options available: the ¥3,267 "Japanese Breakfast" and the ¥8,470 "Special Breakfast 'Kyoto Sunrise'" which requires a reservation. During my stay, I opted for the "Japanese Breakfast" set. The main dish was Nishikyo-yaki. You can choose from white rice, okayu, or ochazuke for your rice, and select between red miso soup or miso soup with added flavors. The homemade chirimen sansho was surprisingly delicious, even for someone like me who isn't a fan of small dried fish. The restaurant overlooks a Japanese garden, creating a serene atmosphere to enjoy a peaceful morning. If you're looking for a delicious traditional Japanese breakfast, I highly recommend this place.

The seat by the window had a great view. Despite the rain, the view from the 6th floor was good. The dishes were served one by one, which was exciting. It started with perilla tea. The edamame tofu came with plum wine. The conger eel soup and sashimi were enjoyed with plum vinegar and soy sauce. The assorted appetizers made it hard to choose where to start. The grilled ayu, cold simmered dish, and ginger rice were delicious and I had seconds. The dessert was also tasty, leaving me very satisfied. Thank you for the meal.

Today, dinner time was early, so I decided to have a late breakfast/early lunch here. I was thinking of having the main dish of turtle stew and clay pot-cooked white rice, but the side dishes, grilled items, and simmered dishes are definitely hotel quality.

Last time was the forty-ninth memorial service for my biological mother who passed away in August. This time, we visited the restaurant for the forty-ninth memorial service for my foster mother who passed away in November. There were a total of 20 people, including children, attending the service, and we were guided to the back of the restaurant just like last time. The head priest who accompanied us mentioned that this was his third visit to the restaurant during this year-end and New Year period. It seems like many people use this place. Fortunately, this time we tried the Yatsuka course that started on January 4th for the first time. First, we were served an appetizer with salmon roe and myoga on a bed of fresh bamboo shoots. The soup was a white miso soup with grated daikon radish, which was different from the creamy white soup I had imagined, but the broth was excellent. The ingredients included daikon radish, nanohana greens, and rice cake. The sashimi featured fresh fish such as sea bream, tuna, and squid. The chawanmushi had sea cucumber intestines, which was a unique and surprising dish for me. The main course, the hassun, was a variety of traditional New Year dishes such as black beans, sesame beans, sea cucumber, bamboo shoots, shrimp, umaki, abalone, rolled omelet, karasumi (bottarga), daikon radish, and mizuhiki (starch cake). It was a truly impressive spread. The grilled dish was grilled blackthroat seaperch marinated in sweet miso, with a side of butterbur sprout tempura. The simmered dish featured red snapper, a Kyoto specialty. The rice dish was crab, daikon radish, and carrot cooked together. Finally, we enjoyed traditional Kyoto sweets and matcha green tea. Once again, the renowned Kyoto hotel lived up to its reputation, and we all left feeling extremely satisfied.

This was my first visit to Nyofuna-san on the 6th floor of Hotel Okura in front of Kyoto City Hall! It's just a short walk from Kyoto City Hall Station! Great access! The atmosphere of the restaurant was very nice! There were counter seats and table seats! The course I ordered today was the "Nyofuna Bento". It costs 6,050 yen per person (drinks not included). The course details are: - Appetizer - Soup - Matsutake-do Bento - Dessert. The bento was luxurious and visually beautiful! I wish I could eat this kind of bento every day! It was lightly seasoned, not too light, and I felt that it was a taste that everyone, young and old, could enjoy! It was perfect for lunch with its mild flavor! The Nyofuna Bento for 6,000 yen was the cheapest lunch option here! If you opt for a regular lunch, it can be expensive! However, considering the quality of the lunch, the view, and the seating in a hotel, I think it's reasonable. I would like to visit again! Thank you for the meal!

On this day, I went for a stroll in Kyoto with my wife. We came to this Kyoto cuisine restaurant. It is located on the 6th floor of Kyoto Hotel Okura, right next to Kyoto City Hall. To reduce the burden on our stomachs from days of heavy eating and drinking, we decided to have breakfast here. Instead of having a heavy lunch followed by a serious Japanese course dinner around 6 pm, which would not leave much time in between and we wouldn't feel hungry, we opted to have a brunch-like meal for breakfast to ensure we have enough time before dinner. However, since we were visiting Kyoto, we didn't want a boring breakfast, so we reserved the "Luxury Breakfast with Turtle Hot Pot" priced at 6,050 yen (including tax and service charge). This luxury breakfast is limited to only 3 groups. Breakfast is served from 7:00 to 10:00, so we aimed for a reservation right before 10:00, but due to the time-consuming nature of the luxury breakfast, we were informed that the latest reservation time would be 9:00. After 10:30, they start preparing for lunch, so we had no choice but to go with the 9:00 reservation. We arrived a bit early and informed them of our reservation, and we were guided to a luxurious private room in the back on the left side. I didn't expect to be able to use such a luxurious room like in a traditional Japanese restaurant. The content of the luxury breakfast with turtle hot pot that we had that day is as follows: - Assorted Appetizers: Dried baby sardines with mild chili pepper, mushroom with tofu dressing, seared kamasu fish sashimi, and walnut tofu assortment. - Grilled Fish: Grilled ayu fish with roe, served with grated daikon radish and vinegar with Japanese pepper. - Rolled Omelette: Freshly made rolled omelette served with shishito pepper, pickled ginger, and large perilla leaf. - Assorted Dish: Taro, minced duck meatball, and grilled eggplant with miso paste. - Turtle Hot Pot: Main dish of the day, turtle hot pot with grilled wheat gluten, grilled green onion, and kujo green onion. - Grilled Seaweed: Seaweed grilled over a charcoal brazier. - Pickles: Pickled long yam, spicy pickled plum, pickled purple daikon, burdock root, and pickled Kyoto vegetables. - Miso Soup: Red miso or white miso soup options, with traditional miso and white miso. - Steamed Rice: Steamed white rice cooked in a pot. - Dessert: Grapes, persimmons, pears, and watermelon. I wanted to finish all the food, but to reduce the burden on my stomach, I left about one bowl of rice uneaten. Even so, both of us had seconds.

I overslept and missed having the highly praised breakfast, so I ended up having lunch instead. The meal had a wide variety of dishes, each carefully prepared (refer to the image). While this alone may not be different from other Japanese or ryokan meals, what truly stood out was the service, which was exceptional in a Kyoto-style manner. Starting from "Would you like something to drink?" to "Here is your warm tea," every aspect of the timing, tone, and wording was pleasant. Thank you for the meal.

It was a group booking. In most cases, you don't expect much from the food at group banquets, but being a hotel, the dishes were impressive. Both warm and cold dishes were served at the right temperature. Under the lid in the photo was a simmered dish, eel rice bowl, and clear soup, all of which were delicious and warm. In addition to beer and sake, wine was also served. We had a wine talk by a chef sommelier that day. I thought it might be French cuisine, but I was surprised to find out it was Japanese cuisine. However, both the wine and Japanese cuisine paired well together.
