As a local, I entered without knowing it was a chain. I was surprised to find such a cheap and good restaurant in Tokyo. Perfect for solo drinking or a second stop at a low price. The skewers are delicious, and the menchi-katsu is good too. But the best is the black oden.

After 4 years, the morning glory market has returned... The stalls are out and it's bustling with excitement. I'm glad it's come back. When I visit the morning glory market, my routine is to first have a drink before going, so I stopped by Kabura-ya. This chain restaurant near the south exit, just across the iron bridge, serves delicious yakitori (pork and offal skewers) and Shizuoka-style oden, which I've been a repeat customer of for a few years now. I raise a toast with beer and indulge in the yakitori. The liver, teppo (pork rectum), and harami (skirt steak) are tasty, but the heart is the best. Lately, I've been eating chicken hearts, but here they serve pork hearts. It's been a while and it's so good. The texture is soft yet crunchy, perfectly seasoned with salt and grilled just right. Delicious as always. The heart moto is also unique. Made from the heart's base, it has a light meat texture with a rich flavor from fat and tubes, and a chewy texture. Different from chicken, but equally delicious. I'm becoming a fan. (As a wish, I hope they offer the spicy version again... it was so tasty.) The guts were better the last time I had them... The negi liver is delicious. The pork liver with a crispy surface fried is almost free of any strong taste, and the negi oil adds a nice flavor. The grilled green pepper in between the yakitori is also tasty. The perfect grilling gives it a bitter taste and a crispy texture. It's a nice palate cleanser between the yakitori. The slightly sweet oden with a strong flavor and the fried chicken were also delicious. The drinks are a bit weak, so a stronger flavor would be nice, but the food is delicious so I'll definitely come back. Thank you for the meal! *The seats at the back were cool, but the ones at the front had the entrance open, so it was hot. It was cooler when they closed the entrance.

Near the guard at the south entrance of Uguisudani Station, there is a somewhat suspicious area where the smoke of yakiniku fills the air from daytime. The place was crowded with people standing and eating outside the shops. I visited a popular yakitori restaurant called Kaburaya, which also has branches in Ikebukuro and Kitasenju. What's great about this place is the affordability of the menu! Grilled skewers range from 80 yen, and most side dishes are around 300 yen. You can easily sit at the counter alone, and the staff are quick and pleasant. The yakitori and simmered dishes are delicious, and the kushikatsu and croquettes are also quite good. There are also grilled shellfish and hormone restaurants nearby, creating an atmosphere that makes you want to visit them as well. There is also a large public bath nearby, making it a fun area to explore.

Uguisudani is a deep town. There is a surprisingly large crowd in front of this shop, which is the entrance to that world. It's great to eat inside the shop. It's also nice to drink at the drum can table in front of the shop while watching the passing people. The yakitori is pleasantly cheap. It won the gold award in the East Japan soy sauce sauce division at the Karaage Grand Prix, and the karaage is outstandingly delicious.

After 6 pm on a regular day, just across the railway tracks from Uguisudani Station South Exit. Right before the elevated railway crossing from Iidemachi Street, on the right side. I had been thinking of trying this restaurant called Kabura-ya as I had never been there before. And then, my errands were finished early so I decided to go there to pass the time. It's located in a drinking alley on the side of the elevated railway where places like Sasano-ya are. The building is slim with a narrow facade, longer towards the back, and has a second floor. The first floor has a counter on the right side as you enter, and table seating on the left side. There is a small TV in the back. I haven't been to the second floor, so I don't know the details. There weren't many customers on the first floor. I ordered the following: Golden Highball for 385 yen, Hatsu (chicken heart) for 88 yen, Tan (beef tongue) for 132 yen, and Red Wiener Fry for 165 yen. Since it was my first time trying the seasoned skewers, I left it up to the chef. As a result, these two skewers were salt-flavored. They were cooked well and tasted good. The Red Wiener Fry was a safe choice, and it came with sauce by default. I also noticed the Oden on the menu, but I didn't order it this time. I overheard a conversation between other customers and the staff mentioning that it's Shizuoka-style Oden, which piqued my interest. I'll have to try it next time. I spent about 20 minutes there and the total bill was 770 yen. It seems to get busy late at night, indicating its popularity in the area. It's great to find a place that is both affordable and delicious. Another gem in Uguisudani. Thank you for the meal.

Title: "Delicious Restaurant with Skewer Menu" I used this restaurant on my way back after viewing the graduation exhibition at Tokyo University of the Arts. Originally, I was planning to go to a yakitori restaurant nearby, but it was crowded, so I gave up and went to this place instead. When I arrived at 4:58 PM on Saturday, there were about 10 customers ahead of me. Most of the table seats were taken. I started ordering. The rating is out of 10 points. Various drinks: 8 points, priced between 385 yen and 437 yen. The prices are reasonable. The flavors were quite delicious, but the lycopene sour drink had a strange taste. Onion fry (88 yen): 9 points, inexpensive with a satisfying portion. The onions were crunchy and sweet, indicating good freshness. Potato fry (132 yen): 8 points, small in size but deliciously fluffy. Garlic fry (143 yen): 8 points, the savory flavor of crispy garlic was irresistible! Stamina skewer (110 yen): 10 points, miso-flavored with a taste similar to dotenabe. This is a must-have! Salmon belly (165 yen): 10 points, incredibly fatty and tender! Bursting with flavor despite its small size. Salted fried chicken (132 yen): 7 points, crispy fried chicken with a salty taste, though the size was a bit small. Pork cheek (132 yen): 9 points, the fatty tip was melt-in-your-mouth! A delicious combination of leeks and meat. Harami (132 yen): 9 points, a firm texture with a chewy and flavorful taste. There were also tender parts. You can enjoy the savory taste of the meat. Overall rating: 9 points, all the dishes were delicious. Especially the skewers were quite delicious, and I found myself wanting to order the salmon belly, stamina skewer, and harami multiple times. I spent around 2700 yen per person for about 100 minutes, so it's not super cheap, but for a decent price, you can enjoy quite delicious food and be satisfied. However, there were already several sold-out items by the 6 o'clock hour, so I thought it would be best to go right after opening. (28th January 2023)

When I get off at Uguisudani Station, I always end up stopping by this place. I love the bright and beautiful interior. The liver is especially delicious, and I always end up asking for seconds. I love the spicy miso, it makes the alcohol go down so easily. I want to try other menu items as well.

On a Saturday afternoon around 3 o'clock, I decided to drink with a friend at this restaurant. We were seated in front of the TV and started with a toast with draft beer (398 yen). We ordered fried black hanpen (130 yen), as well as pork cheek, liver, heart, skirt steak, and pork belly, all with sauce. Except for the pork belly which was 150 yen, the rest were 80 yen each, and we ordered two of each. To accompany, we also had potato salad (230 yen) and oden with egg, daikon radish (130 yen), kelp (100 yen), and salted fish roe (230 yen). The beer went down smoothly with just these starters. Then came the pork cheek, liver, heart, skirt steak, and pork belly, all in a sweet sauce which I personally enjoyed. We switched from beer to shochu highball (298 yen). The oden was very flavorful. We added sudachi sour and umeshio sour, and ordered additional items like onion tempura and kushikatsu according to our stomach's desires. It felt like an all-you-can-eat style of ordering. It took about an average of 10 minutes for each order to be served, but the speed was impressive. We ended up feeling quite full and the bill came to 7450 yen for the two of us. It was worth it. We will definitely be back.

We used this restaurant as the fourth stop on our Uguisudani tour with two beautiful women. It wasn't a place we particularly wanted to go, but we still wanted to drink, so we decided to go to this restaurant near the station. After ordering our favorite drinks, we each ordered one dish to share. I ordered the potato from the oden. It was delicious, but unfortunately, there was hardly any broth in the oden. One of the beautiful women ordered cold tofu, and the other ordered deep-fried pickled ginger on a skewer. While eating, the pickled ginger fell out, leaving only the batter, which caused a commotion. We had a great time on this tour, so I hope we can do it again.

This day was spent bar hopping in Nippori. I started drinking in Nippori, but before I knew it, I had walked all the way to Uguisudani. Well, it's just right. Let's look for a restaurant in Uguisudani. So, I arrived at "Kaburaya Uguisudani Store," just a 1-minute walk from Uguisudani. It had a cheap drinking atmosphere, and the words "izakaya" were very reassuring. Alright, let's go check it out. The food is cheap and delicious! It was either lunchtime or late afternoon, but the restaurant was quite crowded. I quickly looked at the menu and saw that the dishes were cheap! I had a feeling that I might end up eating too much. - Lycopene Sour (298 yen) I ordered a rare tomato sour that day. The word "lycopene" somehow drew me in. - Black Hanpen Fry (100 yen) First, this. Black hanpen sounds delicious. And for 100 yen, it's cheap! It goes well with ginger and is delicious! - Stretchy Cheese Stick (165 yen) Literally a cheese stick that stretches. This is delicious! It goes well with alcohol. - Mixed Hormone Karaage (280 yen) A rare menu of hormone karaage! Another great dish for those who love alcohol. I couldn't help but keep eating. It was a very cost-effective izakaya. I ordered various other dishes afterwards, but basically, all the dishes were cheap and very delicious! It's also nice that the menu is extensive! And it's wallet-friendly, which is a plus. I don't usually have a reason to come to Uguisudani, but if I ever come near here, I'll remember that this restaurant is here. It was a good izakaya with cheap and delicious food.

I have visited this restaurant several times, but this is my first time leaving a review (・∀・) Nice to meet you~ (・∀・) I often visit shops in Higashi Ueno. I always feel excited when greeted with "Welcome~". First, I cheers with a matcha highball. I had already enjoyed plenty of beer that day, so I'll enjoy the matcha highball (・∀・) The dishes I ordered were: ● Beef intestines sashimi ● Beef trachea sashimi (you can choose vinegar miso or spicy sauce) ● Daikon radish salad ● Shredded cabbage ● Grilled liver skewers ● Grilled beef intestines skewers ● Grilled cartilage skewers Thank you as always! Each store has its own original welcoming atmosphere which is charming. Thank you for the meal! I will visit again (・∀・)

There's nothing particularly outstanding, but it's reliable. The Shizuoka oden is good. The simmered motsu is also quite delicious. It's a cozy izakaya where you can find something for everyone. It's nice to eat outside, even though it's not exactly a terrace. It's a good place in Uguisudani where you can easily hop from one place to another.

Skewers for only 80 yen each! Cheap! But it's not just cheap, it's also delicious. Plus, alcoholic drinks are around 300 yen, which is a great deal. This popular restaurant is almost always full in the evenings even on weekdays. If you're in the Ueno area, be sure to stop by this place.

There was a cozy traditional Japanese restaurant in a town with a retro Showa era atmosphere. The staff were all foreigners but their customer service was not bad. We were seated right away when we went, but afterwards all the tables were full and some customers were sitting outside in the cold. The food was not amazing but not terrible either, it was more like a place I would like to visit again.

I visited in the evening on a regular day. There were a few customers inside, but I was able to enter right away. This shop specializes in yakitori, with each skewer priced at a surprisingly low 80 yen. I ordered a variety of items, but the liver and white leek skewers had a strong taste. With prices this low, it's fun to try a variety of items. Personally, I found the simmered tripe to be the most delicious. This is a convenient place to enjoy a quick meal and a drink.

This is my fourth time visiting this restaurant. So far, I come with the same friend about once a month on Saturdays. We wait outside for a table, then enter the restaurant. The salt-grilled skewers are delicious, and the beef tripe stew is also very tasty that we ended up ordering more. I really like the lemon sour drink! (It would be nice if they had rock salt). Thank you for your consideration. Tonight, it seemed like there were a lot of last-minute customers coming in.

In this bustling area with competitors like yakitori and yakiton shops, the kabura shop stands out with a high level of atmosphere, making it seem better than other places. The grilled skewers are delicious, especially the pork belly with sauce. The vegetable skewers were not as good. The simmered motsu was tasty and I ended up ordering more. Customers who are loud or rude are warned by staff. I visited for the second time.
