Visited the restaurant with a friend, and it was still bright outside when we started drinking. They served us Japan's best shochu highball, which supposedly doesn't cause bad hangovers due to a secret recipe. They gave us a VIP-sized drink. The glass had interesting writing on it. The potato salad could be topped with spicy cod roe or salted squid. I chose the spicy cod roe. The roasted cod roe could be mixed in with the potato salad or eaten separately. The potato salad had a gentle flavor that complemented the saltiness of the cod roe. It had a simple and smooth texture. The cold tofu had homemade miso paste on top, with grains of beans and barley. The slight saltiness of the miso paste and the coolness of the tofu blended well with the bonito flakes and green onions. The fried horse mackerel was large and thick, served with bone crackers. The tender mackerel had a rich flavor even when eaten on its own. It didn't have the typical fishy smell and had a pleasant texture. The bone crackers were crispy and enhanced the mackerel's flavor. I wanted to drink cloudy sake, so I ordered the Harukoi. It was a pink-colored cloudy sake with a strong yet slightly fizzy taste and a refreshing sweetness. The salted beef tripe stew was based on a salty broth with a thick consistency and a clear soup. The addition of konjac and a hint of burdock was a nice touch. The liver was marinated in miso paste. This was a unique dish. The liver steak was rich in flavor and had a tender texture similar to soft beef jerky. The shredded ginger added a nice accent to the dish.

I visited the restaurant thinking that there was a 20% increase in VIP membership drinks for the day, but on my third visit, I found out that I had been upgraded to VIP Gold. I had gone there with high expectations, so it felt like a letdown to find out it was actually a 20% decrease. The restaurant has a clean interior and a menu that is updated daily, giving off a good impression even for a casual dining place. The "best shochu highball in Japan" was explained as a company secret that prevents getting too drunk, but it was actually very weak with lots of ice, so it's no wonder you don't get drunk easily. I wish they would make it stronger! The dishes range from seasonal items to more standard options, and I particularly enjoyed the deep-fried horse mackerel. It was a generous size, thick and fluffy with a crispy light batter that paired perfectly. It's listed as a limited quantity item, so if it's not sold out, you're lucky to try it. I also tried the sashimi and motsu stew, and everything was delicious. This is a great place for those who like to drink slowly with a few small dishes. However, they could improve on the slow drink service even when it's not busy. I need to keep going to raise my VIP rank. Thank you for the meal.

Sakamasa ⭐️ Tabelog 3.21 Tokyo Senkoku
This is a popular izakaya in Senkoku, Tokyo. The food here is elaborate and delicious. The specialty dish, simmered beef tripe in salt, is incredibly tender and delicious. The salted cod roe potato salad in the photo is also a favorite, with the perfect balance of salty cod roe and sweet potato salad. And to finish, the grilled sea urchin sushi is a must-try! The perfect grilling combined with the sea urchin makes it the ultimate last dish. Of course, there are also delicious items like sashimi and horse mackerel fry, so if you have the chance, please give it a try. If you sign up for LINE and become a VIP member, there are some great benefits too. #SenkokuDinner #SenkokuIzakaya #SenkokuSakamasa #Sakamasa

In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, an exhibition was held at Tokyo Big Sight with infection prevention measures in place. After attending as a staff member, I met up with my son in Tokyo and ended up having a lively drinking session near Sugamo Station. We made a GOTO reservation at a casual restaurant and ordered a variety of dishes and drinks. In total, we had 3 draft beers, 11 small bottles of cold sake, and 5 shochu on the rocks. We enjoyed dishes like mackerel, shirako, fried horse mackerel, potato salad, seared mentaiko, horse mackerel tartare, chicken karaage, grilled ray fin, salmon belly, simmered dish, ham cutlet, yakisoba, thick fried tofu, sake lees mascarpone, lotus root tempura, and two servings of dashi tea rice porridge. The bill came out to be ¥24,354.

In August, I visited the Sugamo area in Tokyo. The restaurant I was curious about while walking was Sakazuke @ Sugamo area. The store is located about a 5-minute walk from JR Sugamo Station, along a main street. The customer occupancy was around 70%. Customers are seated to avoid crowding.
VIP membership is available from the same day. When you become a VIP member, you get a 20% increase in alcohol. I didn't know the "default," so I wasn't sure if it was actually a 20% increase (laughs).
Here's what I had:
- Fresh draft beer served in a "VIP Jockey" glass.
- Addictive cucumbers with homemade miso koji for 380 yen. The miso koji was really good.
- Salted stewed beef tripe for 580 yen, a popular dish that was simply delicious.
- White liver sashimi for 480 yen, which had a good taste without any unpleasant smell.
- Horse mackerel fry (1 piece) for 880 yen, another popular dish that was tasty. The texture was slightly wet, and the cooking could have been better.
- Avocado and tomato homemade salted pork tempura for 580 yen.
- Fried breaded fish cake for 380 yen. Both dishes highlighted the natural flavors of the ingredients.
- Various types of sake, including "Daishinshu" from Nagano, which were delicious but a bit on the expensive side.
Overall, I enjoyed the main dishes and sake, spending around 5,000 yen per person. I may have had a bit too much sake this time (laughs), but if you drink moderately, it could cost around 3,000 yen per person. The service was also good with a nice distance. Looking back, I could have opted for a 2-hour all-you-can-drink (including sake) plan for around 4,000 yen per person, which might have been a better choice. Well, I still had a good time, so it's okay. Next time, I might check "Tabelog" a bit more before visiting (laughs). Thank you for the meal!

This time, I went exploring in Sugamo with a friend and we found a Japanese sake izakaya. We tried the marbled horse sashimi, horse mackerel namero, dashi-enhanced tamagoyaki, horse mackerel fry, umesuisho, grilled stingray fin, nagaimo potato fries, liver and leek stir-fry, and salted hormone yakisoba. The range of traditional Japanese dishes was wide and all of them were delicious, so we ended up eating quite a lot. In addition to the regular menu, there were also daily or seasonal specials featuring fresh ingredients. The standout dishes were the horse mackerel fry, which was exceptionally large and juicy, and the grilled stingray fin, which had a unique sweet aroma from being marinated in sake. The salted hormone yakisoba we ordered as a finishing dish was topped with plenty of green onions and a squeeze of lemon for a refreshing end to the meal. Despite having eaten quite a bit by this point, the dish was so light and tasty that we ended up finishing it all. The staff's service was also excellent, making this izakaya a place I would frequent regularly if it were closer to home.

Today, let's cheers at this shop♪ "Sakadaru" The shop is about a 5-minute walk straight from Sugamo Station. Let's start with a toast with Ho-oh Mita's orange sake♪ The plates are unexpectedly cute, right? Since I was hungry, I kept ordering. Beef Motsu Salt Stew The beef motsu stewed until tender was delicious! They use domestic wagyu beef, so there was no unpleasant smell. Dashi-increased Tamago Sijimi Dashi-maki tamago soaked in clam broth. The dashi flavor is soft and delicious! I want to eat one more cup of this for the finish!! White Liver Sashimi It's not raw, but it's low-temperature cooked. It had a melting texture. It was seasoned just right and... I really liked it!! It's easy to eat with no odor and goes well with alcohol!! Ham Katsu The shop's ham katsu had potato salad sandwiched inside the ham. It was delicious with a sense of volume! Marbled Horse Sashimi Beautiful marbled horse sashimi. It was cut thick, which was nice! It was unexpectedly delicious, perfect for drinking!! Avocado and Homemade Salted Pork Tempura Large-cut avocado with pork wrapped around it. The pork was seasoned, so you eat it as is... It was delicious with just the right amount of salt. The avocado was fluffy and I liked it! Salmon Belly Salt Koji Grilled Salmon belly with plenty of fat. The skin was crispy, so the skin was delicious too! Alcohol selection from here. Junmai Daiginjo Junmai Daiginjo from Juyondai for the first time! It had a strong sweetness and was a delicious sake. Recommended by the staff... Da Shinshu Super Dry. I'm not good with very dry sake, but... It was very spicy at first, but it had a refreshing taste and was very easy to drink! Hiroto River Nigori Sake. A sake with a strong sweetness and a heavy taste. Sawaya Matsumoto Slightly sparkling sake. It's a natural yeast carbonated sake. It was surprisingly easy to drink thanks to the carbonation. Micro Red Also a sake with carbonation. It uses red yeast, so the pink color is very cute! It tastes like rose champagne... This is what girls like!! I was able to enjoy various types of sake. They also have sake that is not on the menu, so when you ask the staff for recommendations, they come up with various options... and I ended up drinking too much. LOL. I visited a pub called "Sakemasu" around 7 pm on a holiday in February 2020. It is located about a 5-minute walk from Sugamo Station. The atmosphere inside the pub was nice, with about 5 or 6 customers already there. It seemed quite empty, probably due to the location and the timing of my visit. I sat at the counter alone. I started with a medium-sized draft beer "Sapporo Black Label" for ¥550. It had a satisfying taste. I ordered Potato Salad with Salted Cod Roe for ¥480, which was a unique combination that worked well as a beer snack. I also tried the Chicken Liver Sashimi for ¥480, which was lightly cooked and served with ginger, garlic, and sesame oil. It was of good quality and a must-try dish at this pub. I also had the Pasta with Rapeseed Blossoms and Anchovies for ¥780, which had a generous amount of rapeseed blossoms but lacked a bit in terms of oiliness and saltiness. It was still enjoyable due to the quality of the ingredients. I paired it with the recommended "Best Shochu Highball in Japan" for ¥390, which was surprisingly good. This pub is suitable for both solo drinkers and groups. They have a good selection of sake, although the prices are on the higher side. Overall, it is a convenient place to visit, despite not having many customers due to its location.

For dinner tonight, I went to Sakamasu, which opened last year. When I entered the restaurant... it was clean, but the 8-person table was a bit cramped for the older gentlemen. This time, I visited for the all-you-can-drink course and started with addictive cucumbers and draft beer for a toast. The sashimi platter included octopus, mackerel, and yellowtail, all thickly sliced and very good. I had Dewar's highball for refills, which was refreshing and easy to drink. The chicken white liver sashimi was rich and delicious, perfect with drinks. I also had salted beef tripe stew and refilled with a whiskey highball. The famous fried horse mackerel at Sugamo Uomaru was lightly battered and the fish was thick and good. I finished with long yam potato fries and salted hormone yakisoba. For the final drink, I had Japan's best whiskey highball, but the lemon was a bit soft when I squeezed it. Probably because they squeezed it before serving... Thank you for the meal.

I visited this izakaya on a whim at 7:25 pm on a regular day. It is located about a 5-minute walk from the subway station "Senkoku Station" along Hakusan-dori. This izakaya is the fourth branch of the "Uomasa Group" based in Sugamo, opened in August 2019. They are known for their wide variety of sake and dishes such as simmered dishes. The small store has a total of 32 seats. The kitchen was managed by one person and the hall by another, totaling 2 staff members. The items I ordered and their evaluations are as follows:
Beef intestines simmered in salt 580 yen - Fresh beef intestines with konjac, leeks, grated yam, and shichimi pepper.
Salmon white roe ponzu 480 yen - Rich and milky taste with shiso, wakame, green onions, and grated daikon received high praise!
Boiled spring chrysanthemum 380 yen - A refined seasoned cold dish with bonito flakes as an accent.
Grilled salted buri from Sado Island 680 yen - Seasonal fish enjoyed with grated radish and lemon was excellent!
Bottled beer Asahi Lager 600 yen - The background music was J-pop. The customers were locals. The restaurant was about 20% full. The female ratio was about 20%. The current Tabelog rating at the time of visit was 3.02. The fact that the furnishings were new and pleasant on the 145th day since opening is a plus. The fact that they only accept cash and do not have a closing menu is a minus. (I ended up going to the popular ramen shop "Ginger is Culture" nearby... (-_-;)) The fact that there was no appetizer served is a mixed opinion. Thank you for the meal!

I went to Sugamo for some exercise and visited Sakemasa (*´ω`*) It's a newly opened restaurant with a nostalgic atmosphere and a sense of being loved by the local community. I had the extra broth ramen with egg, which was warm and delicious. I also ordered the onion slices, which went well with the salted sea urchin. The tomato pickles were also really tasty. They have a special VIP card for regular customers, making it a fun place to visit. You can also enjoy yukhoe here. The friendly atmosphere and the presence of many local customers make it a welcoming place to visit. If you're in the area, I recommend checking it out♪(*^^)o∀*∀o(^^*)♪

The food is really delicious. If it were closer, I would become a regular customer. I recommend trying the top-ranked Konbu skewer with children - you won't regret it. You'll end up ordering another one. My personal favorite this time was the grilled sea urchin sushi. It was really delicious. Thank you very much. I will definitely come back again.

The more you go, the more benefits you get. Lots of perks with the membership card. But... more than that, the food is delicious and there are plenty of drink options, making it a fun place to visit. You can go in without feeling awkward, even if you're alone.

The atmosphere and food at the restaurant are typical of a casual izakaya. It may be suitable for those who want to chat while enjoying drinks and snacks. The menu is extensive and the portions seem to be reasonable, so you can try a variety of dishes in small quantities. The disappointing point is the weak alcohol typical of inexpensive restaurants.

I used it for dinner time. There is a wide variety of sake, but the lemon sour was a bit weak in taste. There were also plenty of appetizers available. It's a good value izakaya for those who don't care much about taste.

When the fried horse mackerel is on the menu, it's a must-eat. They even turn the bones into senbei. The mountain yam potato fries are always a great way to finish the meal. The simmered offal is also quite good.

I was lured in by the opening gratitude fair at the entrance corner of Sembikiya shopping street on August 1st, with simmered dish for 290 yen and shochu highball for 190 yen. The beef tripe simmered dish is worth it even at the regular price of 580 yen, with its volume and taste.
