The family infiltrated the Waseda University cafeteria with their eldest daughter. It was super crowded because it was open campus day. It was lunchtime, so there was a long line and it was hard to find a place to sit. I ordered pork cutlet curry. They had three types of cake: amaou strawberry fromage, banana cake, and chocolate cake. After eating, the elementary school kids placed their orders. I wonder if we can come back to eat here again...

Formerly located near Waseda Station, Waseda Mayau was a beloved spot among Waseda University students and alumni, known as "Wase Meshi." After the owner retired and the original location closed, passionate fans took over and relocated the restaurant near Nishi-Waseda Station, continuing to delight curry fans. I heard that Waseda Mayau's curry is now available at the Waseda University cafeteria, so I went to try it out. At the Ōkuma Garden House cafeteria, you can choose your side dishes, order your main dish, and then pay at the end. Among other curry options, there was indeed Waseda Mayau's chicken curry. I decided to add a side of Ban Ban Ji Tofu and ordered the Mayau curry. The curry, served in a retort pouch, was surprisingly delicious. Waseda Mayau is known for its extremely spicy curry, and even in retort form, the spiciness is not holding back. The unique spiciness of the curry overpowers any retort pouch smell, leaving only the delicious taste. The fact that you can enjoy this for 666 yen is a great deal. Waseda University students can even get it at a lower price. Most current students at Waseda University entered after Mayau closed, so they may not have experienced it. That's why its revival in the cafeteria is a fantastic initiative. I hope it will be loved by current Waseda students as well!

On Sunday, I used this venue for an event. It has a large number of seats and a spacious second floor with high ceilings, as well as a cozy interior on the third floor. The second floor seems to be commonly used in university brochures. Despite being built in 1990, it doesn't feel outdated. It seems that even with a small membership fee, it is sufficient if a large number of people gather. It gives the impression of being relatively spacious for use by 50-100 people. This time, we were allowed to bring our own wine, which was accommodating. It seems suitable for parties like alumni gatherings. I would like to use it again for regular events in the future.

★Hayashi Beef Omelette Rice, Large Size, 550 yen including tax Hey! Where's the beef? Do I need to heat it up in the microwave right after it's served? Is this really a large portion? ★Garlic Chicken Steak, 401 yen including tax It's amazing how quickly they can make this after ordering. Just sprinkle some garlic chips on the steak and it's done. Cooked on a hot plate for about 100 grams? It's slightly pink inside. But if there's a delay at the checkout, they'll need to use the microwave! And it won't fit on the tray! Thank you for the meal~

This is a review of the university cafeteria at Waseda University. The cafeteria on the 2nd floor closes at 2:00 PM, so I went to the 3rd floor. I visited around 3:15 PM, and I appreciate that they were still open at that time. I ordered a self-service teppanyaki hamburger for 401 yen and a mini rice for 64 yen. The teppanyaki was ready quickly as the grill was already hot. I paid with my Suica card at the register. The taste was decent for the price. University cafeterias are always a good choice.

On a weekday afternoon after 2 pm near Waseda University, I was considering where to have lunch. I remembered hearing that even ordinary people can use the university cafeteria at Waseda and had wanted to visit it once to see what it was like. Since it's still early spring and student activities aren't very active at this time of day, I decided to go. The cafeteria is located at the Okuma Garden House, which is down a small alley to the left when facing the Okuma Auditorium at Waseda University. The cafeteria is on the 2nd and 3rd floors, with different operating hours. The 2nd floor closes at 2 pm, so it was already closed. The 3rd floor, on the other hand, is open until 7:50 pm, so I headed up there. I ordered the following items: Halal Chicken Tomato @302, Hayashi Beef Omelette Rice @464, Miso Soup with Red Miso @42, and Spinach with Sesame Dressing @64. The cafeteria has different sections for pasta, grill, noodles, and rice bowls, each with its own ordering counter. I decided to try the Halal Chicken Tomato from the grill section. The cafeteria also offers the option to choose the size of the miso soup and rice. I only had the miso soup. I then noticed that the curry was available at the same counter as the pasta. However, the curry was only available until 2 pm, which was disappointing. I guess it must be a popular item. I then ordered the Hayashi Beef Omelette Rice from the rice bowl section. The prices at the cafeteria are quite reasonable, with noodle dishes costing around 350 yen and set meals around 500 yen. The cafeteria has a spacious dining area with large windows offering a nice view of the greenery outside. I have previously used the Co-op Grandzaka cafeteria, and the atmosphere at the Waseda University cafeteria is quite different. The prices are student-friendly, and the food portions are generous. Although the food was not piping hot, it was decent for the price. Overall, it's a good option for students in the Waseda area to have a variety of affordable meal choices. I would like to try the curry again when the students are on break.

Waseda University's cafeteria. It is open to the general public. I couldn't take photos inside, but here's a snapshot of the lunch I had. In the cafeteria, you pick up what you want with your tray and then pay at the end. I was hungry, so I got chicken, rice, and miso soup. It's common for the total to be under 1000 yen. The taste is similar to a company cafeteria, not particularly delicious but decent. The cafeteria is not fancy, just a regular one.

Today, I went to Waseda University to find a cheap lunch option. I visited one of the campus cafeterias, where you order by going to different counters with a tray, placing your order verbally, picking up your food, and then paying at the register. I ordered the spicy miso ramen for 356 yen. The cafeteria was mainly filled with students, but there were a few non-students like me. I sat at the counter by the window, overlooking Okuma Garden, and enjoyed my meal. The noodles were instant and not great, but the soup had a good level of spiciness and was tasty. The toppings included chashu pork, soft-boiled egg, and spinach, but the egg was too soft and resembled an onsen egg, which was disappointing. Well, for 356 yen as an outsider, I can't expect perfection. However, the water from the water dispenser was too warm, which made it tough to enjoy the ramen.

I have decided on some rules for using the student cafeteria. 1. Do not go during lunchtime when students are eating. 2. Finish eating quickly and leave. There are plenty of seats, but it's better to avoid lunchtime because there are many students. Take the items you want to eat, pay at the register. I had a meal of rice, teriyaki chicken, and a bottle of tea for about 500 yen. Since it's a student cafeteria, I didn't have high expectations for the taste, but it was okay.

Autumn had already begun, but this day marked the start of business. However, only the third floor was open. It was crowded during lunchtime. I ordered Asian chicken steak, pork bowl, and salt ramen. The Asian chicken steak was served on a hot plate. You could choose the size of the rice by grams. I think I ordered the mini size. It was grilled chicken with sweet chili sauce, served with potatoes and broccoli. It had a juicy texture. The salt ramen had thin curly noodles, perfect for when you want something light. The pork bowl had a strong flavor and a generous amount of meat, very satisfying.

Second time eating at the cafeteria on the third floor. Ordered rich dried fish ramen, spicy miso ramen, and warm udon with soft-boiled egg. All ordered at the same counter. The dried fish ramen was authentic with a strong dried fish aroma and a rich soup. The thin noodles were well-coated in the soup. The spicy miso ramen also had thin noodles and a spicy soup, but not too overpowering. The warm udon was unique, served with a warm soft-boiled egg and fried tempura flakes on top. It looked like a cold udon dish but was actually warm. The udon was chewy and delicious.

I climbed the stairs to the third floor of the restaurant, where the menu seemed to be different from the second floor. On the third floor, I ordered salt ramen and fluffy pork cutlet bowl. The lines for each menu were separate, with ramen and bowl right next to each other. The salt ramen had a light and refreshing soup with soft noodles, boiled egg, and spinach on top. The pork cutlet bowl was coated in a soy-based sauce, with an egg on top. It reminded me of soba dipping sauce. I moved to the second floor for tea. I ordered a chocolate cake, a red tea cake, and a coffee. The cakes were surprisingly only 129 yen each. It was a good deal, and I could relax while enjoying the view of Okuma Garden.

The low quality of the food is understandable given the price, but it's a bit disappointing to have your plate taken away while you're still eating at a standing party.

Northwest cafeteria in the capital. I have been there many times before but haven't posted about it, so today I went to try the new menu that caught my eye. I had the Halal-style chicken with rice for lunch. The Halal-style chicken was incredibly tender and juicy, a high-quality dish. I will probably order this again next time. Please note that it gets crowded from 12:00 to 13:00 on weekdays, so be aware if you are a visitor.

I haven't been to a school cafeteria since my student days. And, since I didn't graduate from Waseda University, this is my first time here. The cafeteria is divided into two floors, each offering different menus. When I think of school cafeterias, I remember that they used to offer a lot of food for a reasonable price, but here the portions are not that big. Since I was quite hungry, I decided to order two single items just like I did in my student days. I chose the Hoto-style udon and hamburger rice bowl combination. You order at the counter and pay at the register at the end. The cafeteria is spacious, as expected. The Hoto-style udon was just regular udon in a Hoto-flavored broth, not bad. Surprisingly, the hamburger rice bowl was quite delicious.

During this time of year, the university cafeteria is empty due to spring break, making it quite a hidden gem. To recover from the hangover of the previous day, I need to eat a lot of food! Miso ramen for 356 yen. Pork yakiniku donburi for 430 yen. I dig into these heartily. I sprinkle plenty of shichimi on the pork yakiniku donburi. The portion is not too much, just right for someone like me who is a bit chubby. The Daikuma set meal for a coin is great for snacking and eating rice healthily, so there's no need to order two items. The university cafeteria at Waseda is convenient when you don't want to overeat! On the second and third floors, there are efficient mothers welcoming you with different dishes each. It's nice to see the daily calorie consumption displayed on the receipt. On the second floor, there is a speed eatery called Speed Sheet, where you can eat standing up and the turnover rate is good! You can choose from various combinations of rice and a variety of salad items in a measured manner. The curry is 280 yen! If you're a member, it's 190 yen. Amazing. I sometimes sneak in to take advantage of it. On average, it's about 20% cheaper than the surrounding regular stores. Very grateful.

On this day, during lunch break, there was a small free show on campus so I made plans to watch it with K, who I regularly review with. The show consists of young people aged 18 to 22 clapping their hands, singing, shouting, and dancing to the music. Both of us love this show. Before that, we needed to grab something to eat, so we agreed to meet at 11:30 in front of the cafeteria. I was thinking of trying the "engi-don" to get pumped up for the baseball game between Waseda and Keio, but I changed my mind when I saw the actual food, which didn't look like the picture on the sign. The cafeteria building is surprisingly elegant with glass walls. The menu varies slightly depending on the floor. We went upstairs and decided to order the cold tan-tan noodles. Despite the fancy building, the cafeteria system was quite ordinary. It was still a relatively quiet time, but the noodles were partially cooked and ready. They quickly rinsed them in water and poured the sauce over them. I ordered the tan-tan noodles for 410 yen, while K added okra and a soft-boiled egg. We sat at a table with a great view of the Oyakuen Garden. It was a beautiful day, and a group of foreigners seemed to be touring the university, walking around the garden. Now, it's time to dig into the cold tan-tan noodles. Despite being partially cooked, they were firm and had a good texture thanks to the quick rinse in cold water. The toppings included bean sprouts, carrots, green onions, and minced meat. The spiciness was just right, stimulating the appetite without being overwhelming. Considering the price, the taste was satisfactory. I finished it quickly without feeling bloated, and it was just the right amount for us, women of our age. Looking back, during my student days, I always had cafeteria food for lunch, and I cooked cheap meals for breakfast and dinner, living a frugal life. However, my son, who commutes from home and belongs to the current generation, says annoying things like "the cafeteria is crowded, the food isn't good, it's not cheap, and the portions are small, so I don't go." Maybe I raised him to appreciate good food too much. Afterward, we returned the bowls to their designated spot and then moved to a better position to watch the show.
