The owner is the same as the popular soba restaurant "Dasshin Sobaan" in Shimokitazawa and the yakitori restaurant "Gasshin Torian" in Setagaya Daita. The dressing with a perfect balance of sweetness and acidity makes it surprisingly delicious, captivating both those who like acidity and those who don't. ◇Pork sauté with tomato sauce The pork uses Kagoshima-grown Kirishima pork, sliced to about 1cm thickness, perfectly cooked without being tough. The meat is simply seasoned with salt, and has a rich pork flavor that is very delicious on its own. I had already started eating, but since it was past lunchtime, I could only choose a la carte options. The anchovy potatoes and liver paste were both around 800 yen each. The portion size was a bit small for the price, but I think it's a nice place to take a break. PayPay wasn't accepted, but credit cards and transportation IC cards are.

I arrived after 12 o'clock and the restaurant was full, with about 2 groups waiting ahead of me. One group was skipped because not everyone in their party was present. I waited for about 15 minutes before being seated. Despite the limited number of staff, the service was quick and efficient. The corn soup had a lot of corn and the natural sweetness stood out. The hamburger was juicy and the demi-glace sauce was a perfect match, making it delicious.

Shimokitazawa Station area is hot right now. New shops are opening one after another. On this day, I exited the station from the Setagaya-Daita side and headed straight ahead to this place. It faces a square with terrace seating, perfect for this season. The weather was nice, so I had lunch on the terrace. The menu offers classic Western dishes. The Menchi Katsu for 1300 yen comes with salad, bread or rice, and soup. For an additional 200 yen, you can add coffee. The soup was a corn soup with plenty of corn. The Menchi Katsu was quite large. It would have been even better if it was a bit juicier. Having lunch while feeling the warm sun and gentle breeze of early summer is already fantastic.

A redevelopment area "NANSEI PLUS" has opened in the Shimokitazawa Minami-guchi area. It features a mini-theater and is set to be a hub for new cultural experiences. The area is directly connected to the Shimokitazawa Station "Shimokita Ekiue" on the Odakyu Line. A Western-style restaurant called "BONA-BONA-PÉTIT" opened on January 20, 2022, near the south-west exit. They offer a menu item called "Menchi Katsu" for 1300 yen, where you can choose between rice or bread. The dish comes with soup, salad, and a main course. The Menchi Katsu is like a hamburger-style patty with a good amount of meat and sauce. They also offer other Western-style dishes like Doria and Hayashi Rice. I'm curious about their Pork Saute, so I'll consider trying it next time. This restaurant is affiliated with "Dashing Soan" in Shimokitazawa for soba noodles and "Gasshin Yuoan" in Setagaya Daeda for grilled chicken, which I also enjoy. I look forward to visiting again.

A new Western-style restaurant has opened on the 1st floor of the newly developed commercial facility near the southwest exit of Shimokitazawa. They offer Hayashi Rice, and the place is decorated with flowers of chefs Tsuji Kazunari and Funakoshi Eiichiro. I decided to try it out.
Hayashi Rice - Not too sweet, with a nice balance of tomato acidity and demi-glace sauce richness, making it refreshing and not heavy. The rice was cooked just right.
Menchi Katsu - A crispy and light texture Menchi Katsu. The sauce is also light, making it delicious. It's in a great location near the station, so I look forward to more from this place.
