There were a few other reviews that agreed, but I feel like the caramel flavor is the best. Also, it tastes even better when chilled in the fridge, as the contrast between the crispy outside and moist inside becomes more pronounced.

I purchased at the renewed Marukica. Cannele (large) 340 yen, Plain cannele 230 yen, Chocolate cannele 260 yen, Mango cannele 280 yen, One-bite lemon cake (Hiroshima lemon & vanilla) 345 yen. I wasn't a big fan of cannele, but I bought it because it looked cute. When I tried the cannele large as instructed on the bag... it was delicious. This cannele is tasty. The chocolate and mango ones were also small but had a rich chocolate and mango flavor. The lemon cake was delicious, as expected from a shop in Hiroshima. Thank you for the meal.

In the basement of Tokyo Marunouchi Building, there is a specialty canelé shop that is unique and innovative. It is not extremely popular with long lines, but it has been featured on TV. This time, I bought some as a souvenir for a friend. The classic canelé is priced at ¥320, while other variations are smaller and priced at ¥280, which is surprisingly reasonable. I purchased two standard canelés, as well as one blueberry and one tea-flavored canelé for a little dessert after a meal. They were placed in a paper bag with a small window to see inside. Since they are baked goods, no ice pack was included. The canelés have a refined sweetness, with a moist interior and a crunchy exterior. They are a unique treat that is perfect for tea time. They also make a great little gift. Of course, they are also a nice treat for yourself.

Cannele various types @ Tachimachi Cannele MARUNOUCHI
While on a train, I noticed someone carrying a paper bag that caught my attention. I checked where it was from and found it nearby, so I decided to stop by and purchase some. According to the explanation, the cannele from Tachimachi Cannele has a crispy outer layer and a soft, chewy inside. The balance between the crunchiness of the outer layer and the softness of the inside is excellent, and they use various ingredients like matcha and fruits to create different flavors while bringing out the deliciousness of the ingredients perfectly.
Among several options, I chose four that caught my eye and brought them home to try. The most basic one is the vanilla cannele, with a simple visual appearance that stands out. It has a sweet vanilla aroma and the rum is the key flavor. The more you chew, the gentle sweetness spreads throughout your mouth.
The matcha cannele allows you to fully enjoy the umami flavor of matcha, with a perfect balance of sweetness and bitterness. The gentle sweetness of the "azuki beans" on top adds to the sophisticated deliciousness.
There is a caramel cannele with a deep, rich flavor like salted caramel, showcasing the great compatibility between caramel and cannele. The soft caramel topping offers a rich taste similar to salted caramel.
My favorite was the "citron" cannele, with a nice acidity from the lemon-flavored icing on top. It includes candied lemon on top, providing a refreshing and fruity scent and sweetness.
All of them are in a size that is easy to eat and they go perfectly with coffee or tea. The balance is such that even those who are not fond of sweet treats can enjoy them. They seem like a good choice for souvenirs, and children would surely be delighted. I might bring some as souvenirs on my next visit home. Thank you for the meal~

The bag said, "For a tastier experience, warm in the toaster for a few minutes." So, I toasted it for 2 and a half minutes! The inside didn't get warm, but the outside became crispy. It was really delicious! There was one that was larger, but overall, I thought the canelés were on the bigger side.

For those who prefer moist and soft textures, I recommend Tatemachi Cannele (takeout).
Located on the 1st floor of Marunouchi Building in Tokyo, this takeout-only Cannele specialty shop is operated by the popular Hiroshima confectionery shop "Yogashi Castagna".
Tatemachi Cannele's specialty lies in their commitment to handcrafting each Cannele using locally sourced butter and eggs. The freshness of the ingredients is reflected in the taste!
They also offer seasonal limited flavors, allowing you to try different tastes according to the season, which is a good point!
Moreover, the packaging of Tatemachi Cannele features a cute design, making it a recommended choice for small gifts or souvenirs.
Usually, there are about 4 people in line, but the wait is not too long, making it a recommended choice for a quick stop!
Many people in line tend to buy the 8-piece Cannele assortment.
By the way, the difference between Cannele and Plain is that the dough is the same, but there is a difference in baking time. Cannele has a crispier outer layer compared to Plain, although it wasn't very noticeable to me.
Overall, it is moist and has a soft texture, perfect for those who prefer a moist texture!
My order:
8-piece Cannele assortment ¥2130 (1 piece of each flavor)
Crowdedness: ⭐⭐⭐
Giftability: ⭐⭐⭐
Cost performance: ⭐⭐⭐

Marunouchi Building basement has been completely renovated. In one corner, a specialty canelé shop has opened. It is operated by "Patisserie Castagna" from Hiroshima, which also has a shop in Shinagawa. The canelés are priced at 230 yen for plain, 260 yen for chocolate, matcha, caramel, lemon, blueberry, and almond flavors. The sizes are small but reasonably priced. This time, I tried the plain and almond flavors. They are said to last until the next day. They also had pound cakes that last longer, so I bought those as well to take home. The canelés are not extremely crispy on the outside, but they have a hint of rum and a moist, not too sweet inside that is delicious. They look cute and fancy, making them perfect for gifts. The canelé with caramelized almonds on top has a unique texture that makes you want to have another one. I regret not buying the limited edition strawberry canelé available only in May. They offer different flavors depending on the season, so I plan to visit again soon!

I bought chocolate, lemon, and strawberry pastries. When I visited during lunchtime, there were about 3 people in line! I went home and reheated them before eating. They were all really delicious! The outside was crispy, the inside was moist, and they had the perfect texture. Next time, I will buy the plain flavor. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I got a canelé to go. Personally, I like canelés with a crispy exterior and a soft interior, with just a little bit of vanilla beans. The canelé from Tachimachi Canelé had a "crispy exterior, moist interior, and lots of vanilla beans." It can be difficult to find a dessert that matches your personal taste preferences, even if it has high ratings.

Recently, I was thinking that I haven't had canelé in a while, so when I happened to pass by a shop, I decided to take a look. It was close to closing time, so there weren't many options left, but I purchased the following 3 types:
- Chocolate 250 yen
It had a rich chocolate aroma. I cut it in half and tried eating it as it was, and it had a good chewy texture. The remaining half I microwaved a bit. It became softer, with a gooey texture of the chocolate. I didn't really feel the rum flavor too strongly.
- Almond 250 yen
The crispy texture of the almonds and the moistness of the canelé provided a nice contrast in texture. I liked the sweetness of the caramel coating on top. This one also had a completely different texture when slightly warmed.
- Pistachio 270 yen
The dough had a slight bitterness, but the pistachio cream added sweetness, creating a good balance. I noticed that they mixed in white chocolate with the cream, which I really liked. It was delicious, but the size was on the smaller side, so it felt a bit expensive for a single bite.

Visited on a Saturday evening around Marunouchi, a specialty shop for canelés. Purchased the "Plain" and "Canelé" flavors. Both tasted the same, with only the size being different. The outer layer lacked crunchiness. The inside was not very chewy or gooey, more like a bread texture. The alcohol flavor was subtle and the sweetness was moderate, making it suitable for those not accustomed to canelés.

Let's finish eating and taking care of business at Tokyo Station, and before heading home, let's buy some sweet treats as souvenirs. Let's go to Tachimachi Canelé TYO in the Marunouchi Building basement this time, as it is a shop from Hiroshima. Once we arrive at the Marunouchi Building basement, Tachimachi Canelé TYO is located a bit further inside. They have various types of canelés, so let's choose which ones to buy. This time, let's get four types: Canelé, Plain, Caramel, and Chocolate. The canelés are slightly larger than others. Let's try them at home. First, the Canelé. The outer crust is not too crispy, and the canelé itself is soft. The flavors of rum and vanilla inside are delicious. Next is the Plain. It tastes similar to a regular canelé. The outer crust is soft as well. Then, the Caramel and Chocolate. Each has a distinct caramel or chocolate flavor. The flavors are stronger than the eggy taste. Canelés are trendy lately, and having them available near Tokyo Station for souvenirs is convenient. Thank you for the meal. Now, let's head back to the station.

This is a canelé shop located in the Marunouchi Building basement. When you come to Tokyo, you want to try something you've never heard of before, right? Well, I later found out that they also have a store in Ekimarché Osaka (lol).
Plain Canelé for 220 yen (as of May 2022): It has a slightly crumbly texture, like when rice or bread gets cold. It's a normal size. It says to warm it in a toaster for a few minutes, so I tried warming it up and it became softer with a slightly crispy exterior... but it still lacks the chewiness and moistness that I look for in a canelé. This type of canelé may be good for those who like this kind of texture.
Almond Canelé for 250 yen: It has a Florentine on top, and it's delicious with just the right amount of sweetness.

Tachimachi Cannele @ Marunouchi Cannele is a takeout-only shop specializing in cannele. I couldn't decide which one to get, so I ended up getting a set of 8 assorted canneles to go. Cannele with rum ★ has a nice aroma of rum and vanilla - it's the largest one. Plain Cannele ★ smaller in size with a crispy surface and good aroma. Chocolate ★ dark chocolate on top and chocolate inside - delicious! Matcha ★ has a very good taste of the dough. Caramel ★ the toasty aroma is so good, almost like a cake. Lemon ★ crispy sugar coating is nice. Almond ★ the only one upside down with crispy almond slices on top. Blueberry ★ had blueberry pulp on top.

Various flavors! Fun! Hiroshima's Cannele
I visited this shop located in Maru Building in Hiroshima. This time, I tried the Cannele (plain, large) and matcha. The Cannele had a crispy exterior, a soft interior, and a strong rum flavor. The matcha had a proper bitter tea taste, and also had a bit of cream inside. There were many other flavors available, so I would like to try them all!

I purchased "Canele," "Canele Almond," "Canele Blueberry," and "Canele Matcha" from the newly opened store in Kanto, originally from Hiroshima. I regret not buying the "Citron" Canele, which is known for lemon in Hiroshima. The crunchy crust is decent, but the chewy inside texture is excellent. The "Canele Almond" has praline on top of a regular Canele, which was tasty, but I wished the almond flavor was more prominent throughout. The "Canele Blueberry" not only had blueberry jam on top but also had blueberry-colored dough inside, providing a sweet and soft blueberry flavor. The "Canele Matcha" had a strong and slightly bitter matcha flavor with a moderate level of sweetness, making it one of the top preferences among matcha Canele. Thank you for the delicious treats!

There is a canele shop in the basement of Marunouchi Building. They have about 9 different types of canele beautifully displayed in the showcase. You can buy them individually or have them put in a gift box. These canele are delicious both on the day of purchase and the next day. I am truly grateful that they have expanded to Tokyo!

Today's sweet treat is the canelé from Tachimachi Canelé. I saw it while passing by and decided to buy it. I got the plain, blueberry, chocolate, and almond flavors. They were all soft and squishy. The flavored ones had a flavored dough and some had sauce inside. Hmm, I still prefer canelés that are a bit firmer. Without that contrast between the outside and inside, it doesn't feel quite like a canelé to me. There are plenty of soft, sweet treats with rum and vanilla flavors out there, so the flavored canelés didn't stand out as much.

A takeout-only canelé shop located in the space with many food and beverage outlets in the Marunouchi Building basement. Purchased both small and large sizes of canelés.
- Plain canelé 194 yen
- Large canelé 302 yen
The small plain canelé was overall moist. The surface was fragrant but lacked crispiness. I tried warming it up in the toaster, but the crispiness did not return. Maybe I didn't warm it up long enough. It had a good balance of moist and chewy texture with a moderate amount of liqueur flavor. It felt like a classic canelé. The texture and flavor were well-balanced. However, I'm not sure if I would come back for more. Compared to other places where I can buy canelés nearby, I prefer this one over Viron, but Joel Robuchon's is closer to my taste. If the staff were a bit more friendly... they seemed a bit scary (lol).

It is located in the basement of Marunouchi Building at Tokyo Station. They offer a variety of canelés that look very appealing. I had them pack 16 different flavors in a circular box, which cost 330 yen! It may seem quite expensive, but if you're giving them as a gift, the box is a must. The canelés were all delicious with a mild sweetness. The matcha canelé had a strong green tea flavor, and I especially liked the seasonal limited edition White Canelé for its appearance. I think it would be better if the box cost a bit less. It's not an overly expensive box, just a standard one.
