Blog: Hangover Cure Meal at Instagram ● Soryu Karatamagodo Ryudocho Ryudocho National Museum is located near the National New Art Museum, with a row of eateries lining the Ryudocho Museum Street. Along this street is a Chinese restaurant called "Soryu Karatamagodo Ryudocho." There is also a Soryu Karatamagodo in front of Roppongi Hills, where you can find Keanu Reeves' signature, and a recently opened one near TV Asahi, so it's quite a common sight around the Roppongi area. One interesting aspect of Soryu Karatamagodo is that each branch has slightly different menus. While they have the same menu items, each branch always seems to have its own unique dishes.
● Lunch Menu

While you may find Red Mala Tantanmen at any Soryu Karatamagodo branch, I tried the Authentic Soupless Tantanmen for the first time. The picture next to it depicts the original Tantanmen, which piqued my interest, so I decided to go for the Authentic Soupless Tantanmen.
● Authentic Soupless Tantanmen
First came the soup, a gentle seaweed and egg soup. I added extra coriander since it seemed to be included. This is the Authentic Tantanmen. The noodles look clean, almost like udon. I started mixing it all together. It reminded me of the Yang's Soupless Tantanmen I had in Ikebukuro. As I mixed it, the excitement grew, and it became harder to stir. Once everything was mixed, the color spread throughout. I took a bite, and the savory taste of Tantan miso, along with the tingling sensation of Sichuan pepper, was delicious. The noodles were hot at first but cooled down to the perfect temperature as I mixed them. They had a firm texture and were very satisfying to eat. Despite the rich flavor of the Tantanmen, the coriander did a great job of adding a refreshing taste. I'm not sure if coriander is traditionally in Tantanmen, but surprisingly, it works!
● Thank you for the meal
A new menu item not seen in previous Soryu Karatamagodo branches. (Perhaps it was introduced across all branches at the same time due to seasonal reasons, but who knows ^^;) The Authentic Soupless Tantanmen, which felt like the real deal, was delicious. Introducing slightly different menus even within the same chain and highlighting their unique features makes you want to try other branches as well. It's a great strategy, in my opinion.
