Heading from Midtown to the National Art Center, I came across a quaint shop with the name "Souryu Karakudou" displayed. It seems that their tantanmen noodles are quite popular, so I decided to visit for lunch. The interior of the shop is spacious, with only about three groups of customers at 1 PM. I ordered the soup-less tantanmen noodles and was instructed to mix it well from the bottom before eating. The meat miso was thick and rich. The sweet bean sauce was sweet, with a mild level of spiciness and little numbness. It may not be satisfying for those looking for a more intense flavor. According to reviews, there is another branch in Roppongi, as well as in Kichijoji and an outlet. Some reviewers even claim that Keanu Reeves is a fan of this place. Is that true? Thank you for the meal.

I went to see my friend's painting at the National Art Center and on the way back, we decided to have Taiwanese cuisine. We found a restaurant called Sou Ryuto Gokudo in Roppongi, which was conveniently close to the museum. It is actually part of the same group as the popular restaurant Ninnikin in Otemachi, so we had high expectations for the food. We were the first customers on the last evening of the summer holidays. We ordered dishes with low garlic content, such as Bang Bang Chicken, Sweet and Sour Cabbage, Century Egg Tofu, and Spicy Stir-Fried Eggplant and Pork. The Sweet and Sour Cabbage was more like soy sauce pickled than sweet and sour, and the Xiao Long Bao dumplings were delicious despite some of them breaking. We also had Shumai, Fried Rice, and Gyoza with a generous filling of char siu, egg, and garlic sprouts. The food was tasty and reasonably priced, and we had a great time catching up over the meal. It was a pleasant experience and we look forward to visiting again after visiting the museum. Thank you for the meal!

Entered the restaurant around 20:10 on Saturday, June 2023. There were about 3 groups dining inside. I tried the authentic soup-less dan dan noodles. The dish had a strong flavor of coriander and spices, which was quite unique. The black sesame dan dan noodles, on the other hand, were a bit watery and lacked depth and richness. Both dishes were lacking in umami and felt a bit light, leaving me slightly unsatisfied. However, the atmosphere created by the owner was very pleasant.

Near the National Art Center in Roppongi, there is a restaurant called Soryu Karakatoudo Ryudocho. The restaurant has a nostalgic Showa era atmosphere and serves Chinese cuisine. Ryudocho was a town name that existed until 1967, including the current Roppongi 7-chome area. This restaurant is affiliated with a specialty tantanmen noodle shop, so they offer a variety of tantanmen noodles, as well as xiaolongbao and gyoza. I wanted to try the large gyoza, but they were sold out, so I settled for regular gyoza. In addition, we also had jellyfish salad, pea sprout salad, drool chicken, shrimp chili, spicy lamb fried rice, and beef yakisoba with thickened sauce. The gyoza had thin skin, giving it a light texture that made it easy to eat. The shrimp chili was unique with the addition of onions, but the sweetness and texture of the shrimp and onions were enjoyable. The beef yakisoba had a chewy noodle texture with a crispy finish from being fried, and it paired well with the thickened sauce. The dish had a good amount of meat, providing a satisfying meal. The oyster sauce-based thickened sauce made everything taste delicious. It was a shame that they were out of xiaolongbao and large gyoza, perhaps due to the late hour.

Today's lunch was at a Chinese restaurant near Nogizaka. They have both round and square tables. I ordered the Tomato Tantanmen and it was served quickly. If you're in a hurry, it's best to order rice dishes. They have a wide variety of Tantanmen options, which can make it hard to choose. The Tomato Tantanmen I had was mild and slightly spicy, so it's a good choice for those who don't like too much spice. The noodles were medium thickness and had a nice texture. I enjoyed slurping them up with the soup! If you like spicy food or Chinese cuisine, be sure to give this place a try!

【Point】①A popular restaurant in Roppongi where even during lunchtime, there are long lines (it is recommended to go early). ②The popular jumbo gyoza set meal is very filling, to the point where you might leave some behind. 【Purpose/Location】Used for lunch around Roppongi area. About a 10-minute walk from Roppongi Station. 【Atmosphere/Seating/Customer base/Wi-Fi/Toilet/Smoking/Baby strollers, etc.】The interior of the restaurant has a Chinese restaurant-like atmosphere. It is a popular place, so you often see lines forming if you go for lunch a bit late. As the number of customers increases, they also start to share tables. The customer base mainly consists of office workers, but you may also see some high-class individuals due to the nearby art museum. 【Food】(Reason for ordering, taste, portion size, waiting time, other people's orders, etc.) - Jumbo Gyoza Set Meal (¥1,000): Whenever I come to this restaurant, I almost always order the Jumbo Gyoza Set Meal. There are many other menu options, including noodles and various set meals, so some people might find it hard to choose. This Jumbo Gyoza Set Meal is very filling, and I ended up leaving one gyoza and some rice uneaten. One thing to note is that it takes some time for the gyoza set meal to be served (about 15 minutes). 【Rating at the time of posting】★: 3.18 Reviews: 47 people

I went to a restaurant in Ponggi for a post-live meal after worshiping a famous producer. The Chinese dishes were all delicious, especially the Chicken Cilantro Noodles with a light chicken broth and cilantro giving it an Asian twist. The dumplings and shumai were also excellent. I would definitely like to visit this place again. Thank you!

In the midst of the heat, I noticed a spicy pork bone tantan noodle shop and couldn't help but enter. I was seated by the window and looked at the menu. After a moment of hesitation, I stuck to my initial choice and ordered the pork bone tantan noodles with a side of rice. I waited for a bit and soon the rice arrived. I dug in right away. The flavor was refreshing at first, followed by a spicy kick. I enjoyed the pork bone and rice together as I ate. I ate in silence and finished the meal. It was decent, I thought. It's worth a try.

I visited this shop located right near the National Art Center a little after lunchtime. We were seated outside, which had a nice atmosphere. I chose the shrimp chili set meal from the menu and decided to share some xiaolongbao with my companion. The shrimp chili wasn't spicy at all. The xiaolongbao came in a set of 4 and tasted delicious. It was a bit disappointing that there was no vegetable salad-like option on the menu.

I used it before browsing at the National New Art Museum. Since it was before 12 o'clock, I entered the store without waiting. Looking at the menu, they were promoting a limited edition pork rib dandan noodles, along with fried rice and unique items. It's a shop with a wide variety of dandan noodles on the menu. I was a little indecisive about what to choose. In the end, I ordered the pork rib dandan noodles and 3 large dumplings. And in just 5 minutes, the pork rib dandan noodles were served. I wondered if pork ribs could be fried so quickly. With some doubts, I started eating. The soup was very spicy and delicious. The spiciness was moderate, but it gradually builds up and attacks you later. The noodles were straight and medium thickness, with a slightly sweet and chewy texture. The pork ribs had a firm texture. I enjoyed the changes by dipping them in the soup and continued eating. By the time I finished the pork rib dandan noodles, the large dumplings arrived. As the name suggests, each one was large and filling. After finishing everything, I left the restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

The black sesame tantan noodles are delicious! I also ordered the spicy red ma la noodles, but the black sesame one has a richer flavor. It has just the right amount of spiciness, and most importantly, the noodles are really good at this place! I also like places that serve dishes like spring rolls with glass noodles, but I really want to eat proper noodles! The restaurant seems to be concentrated in Roppongi, but I heard they also have branches in Kichijoji, Soshigaya, and Rinku Premium Outlets. I hope they will come to Toyosu too!

Fewer people know the old names of towns such as Ryudocho, Kasumicho, Ajiro, and Azabu Roppongi area. The names of the slopes are often described in detail. This shop is just a few minutes from Midtown. While their tantanmen is well known, personally, I like the liver and jellyfish dishes. There are several types of tantanmen, with the white soup being the mildest. The medium-thick noodles go well with the flavorful soup. All dishes are served quickly and are cost-effective. Their lunch and bento options are also reasonably priced and highly recommended.

A Chinese restaurant located a few minutes' walk from Nogizaka Station. The restaurant spans from the 1st to the 3rd floor and has a unique atmosphere that doesn't feel like a typical Chinese restaurant. The menu mainly consists of dan dan noodles. We ordered dan dan noodles, sweet and sour pork, and xiaolongbao. The dan dan noodles were a bit bland and didn't mix well with the noodles, so they were just okay. The sweet and sour pork lacked meat and felt empty. However, the xiaolongbao was filled with delicious pork flavor and had a rich and tasty soup.

I had been to the Roppongi branch a few times and it was my favorite, but when I was walking around Midtown, I found this branch and decided to try it. While the Roppongi branch had a wide variety of dan dan noodles to choose from, this branch focuses more on Chinese cuisine. The atmosphere at the Roppongi branch was lively like a street stall, but I was a bit surprised by how clean and neat this branch was. The sweet and sour pork with black vinegar was very tender and delicious. The soup dumplings should be eaten quickly as the skin hardens when they cool down. It was a Saturday night and there were empty seats available. They were opening the windows for ventilation and had good disinfection measures in place.

I had the meatball stir-fry with black vinegar set meal at the Chinese restaurant KIWA Group near the New National Art Museum. The flavor was a bit too strong. There is also a restaurant called Sou Ryutangyudou near Roppongi Station. Money spent: 1,100 yen Rating: 3.5 points 5 points: Definitely want to revisit! 4 points: Would like to revisit if given the chance 3 points: Willing to revisit 2 points: Once is enough 1 point: Not worth visiting

A stylish Chinese restaurant located just to the right of the new National Art Center. The windows are lovely, with a feel of Taisho Romance. It's our annual tradition to visit the "Nitten" exhibition with my mother and have lunch afterwards. We entered the restaurant, and were seated on the second floor. The walls were adorned with large paintings, giving a sense of being near an art museum. The chic interior makes it suitable for a date as well. My mother ordered the lunch set with fried chicken and water dumplings for 1,000 yen. The water dumplings were quite large, about 5 pieces, and the fried chicken was also generously sized, making it a great deal for 1,000 yen. I opted for the 1,300 yen lunch set with oil-drizzled chicken and large dumplings. The large dumplings took some time to arrive, so I didn't get a photo. They were delicious. The oil-drizzled chicken was not spicy, which was a relief. The lotus root was tasty. The meat was similar to my mother's fried chicken, but with a sauce on top. The large item in the middle turned out to be a large pickled radish, which was easy to eat and delicious. The restaurant seemed popular, as when we left, there was already a line forming outside by 12:15 PM. November 1, 2019. 1,300 yen.

Big Dumpling Set Meal for 950 yen I wish they would clearly state that it includes cilantro because I love it. There seems to be a misconception that chives and cabbage are more common, but the aroma of cilantro is something that deserves to be highlighted, even more so than garlic. I don't mind the smell of cilantro, but if it's used in the dumpling filling, it should be clearly stated as an ingredient. And if they want to promote it as the specialty of the restaurant... In conclusion, the dumplings are just big, but the balance between the filling and the skin is off.

In between two special exhibitions at the National Art Center in Roppongi, we decided to go out for lunch. We headed towards Tokyo Midtown, just a short walk from the art museum, to dine at this restaurant located on the first to third floors of the Hanakosha Building. The design of the exterior was quite impressive. I had noticed a similar restaurant affiliated with this one near the Izumo Daijingu Tokyo Bunshi, so I was curious to try it out. The restaurant had seats on multiple floors, but since we arrived during off-peak hours, we were seated right away on the first floor. The menu featured a variety of dishes, with the main focus being the tantanmen noodles. I decided to try the "Red Tomato Tantanmen" (1,050 yen) as I love tomatoes. The dish arrived with a whole peeled tomato on top of the tantanmen noodles. The noodles were flavorful with a hint of spice and sesame. When I tried to break the tomato, it turned out to be quite hard and I struggled to cut it with chopsticks. By the time I managed to separate the tomato, the soup had already cooled down. It seemed like the tomato had cooled the soup quickly. Although I didn't mind too much as I have a high tolerance for temperature, it was a bit disappointing. Perhaps sticking to the classic tantanmen would have been a better choice. The menu stated that prices were exclusive of tax, but for some reason, I was only charged 1,050 yen without tax. I wonder which is the correct pricing.

Blog: Hangover Cure Meal at Instagram ● Soryu Karatamagodo Ryudocho Ryudocho National Museum is located near the National New Art Museum, with a row of eateries lining the Ryudocho Museum Street. Along this street is a Chinese restaurant called "Soryu Karatamagodo Ryudocho." There is also a Soryu Karatamagodo in front of Roppongi Hills, where you can find Keanu Reeves' signature, and a recently opened one near TV Asahi, so it's quite a common sight around the Roppongi area. One interesting aspect of Soryu Karatamagodo is that each branch has slightly different menus. While they have the same menu items, each branch always seems to have its own unique dishes. ● Lunch Menu Authentic Soupless Tantanmen 980 yen Beef Belly Tantanmen 1,380 yen Black Sesame Tantanmen 950 yen Green Sichuan Pepper Tantanmen 950 yen Red Mala Tantanmen 950 yen Liver and Garlic Chive Set Meal 980 yen Shrimp Lettuce Fried Rice 1,400 yen While you may find Red Mala Tantanmen at any Soryu Karatamagodo branch, I tried the Authentic Soupless Tantanmen for the first time. The picture next to it depicts the original Tantanmen, which piqued my interest, so I decided to go for the Authentic Soupless Tantanmen. ● Authentic Soupless Tantanmen First came the soup, a gentle seaweed and egg soup. I added extra coriander since it seemed to be included. This is the Authentic Tantanmen. The noodles look clean, almost like udon. I started mixing it all together. It reminded me of the Yang's Soupless Tantanmen I had in Ikebukuro. As I mixed it, the excitement grew, and it became harder to stir. Once everything was mixed, the color spread throughout. I took a bite, and the savory taste of Tantan miso, along with the tingling sensation of Sichuan pepper, was delicious. The noodles were hot at first but cooled down to the perfect temperature as I mixed them. They had a firm texture and were very satisfying to eat. Despite the rich flavor of the Tantanmen, the coriander did a great job of adding a refreshing taste. I'm not sure if coriander is traditionally in Tantanmen, but surprisingly, it works! ● Thank you for the meal A new menu item not seen in previous Soryu Karatamagodo branches. (Perhaps it was introduced across all branches at the same time due to seasonal reasons, but who knows ^^;) The Authentic Soupless Tantanmen, which felt like the real deal, was delicious. Introducing slightly different menus even within the same chain and highlighting their unique features makes you want to try other branches as well. It's a great strategy, in my opinion.
