This is a tonkatsu chain restaurant near Toyosu Station! Although it's not close to my house, it's a chain restaurant that I personally love. Among all the genres, this is the chain restaurant I wish was closest to my house. Today, there was an event in Toyosu for a new government, and after finishing work late and feeling hungry, I decided to stop by. I was planning on getting the regular pork cutlet set, but decided to go for the pork cutlet rice bowl so I could eat quickly and head to the event. I'm not sure of the difference, but I wanted to try something new. It wasn't too crowded, but my order took a while due to a backlog. The food arrived! Now, the taste... The tonjiru (pork miso soup) in large size is highly recommended as it's not much more expensive than the regular size. It was full of ingredients and had a sweet miso flavor with a strong dashi taste. As for the special pork cutlet rice bowl, it seemed like a regular pork cutlet bowl with a plum and a hot spring egg, with extra rice. It was tasty, but it didn't feel particularly special or worth the extra cost. Maybe the pork cutlet set would have been a better choice. It seems like the quality of tonkatsu has declined compared to the past. They accept PayPay as payment.

On a holiday, we decided to grab something to eat on our way to shopping. My wife wanted to go to Katsuya Toyosu for a katsudon. Our daughter ordered the sauce katsudon B set (with pork miso soup and a soft-boiled egg), I got the katsudon (bamboo) B set, and my wife got the special katsudon with cabbage. We all love katsudon, so we often have it at home. We also ordered canned beer. We enjoyed our meal with pickles as a snack while drinking beer. When the katsudon arrived, we were delighted by the freshly fried cutlet and the flavorful sauce with egg. Why is katsudon so delicious? We also tried a bit of the sauce katsudon, and it was also delicious. We had another beer refill and enjoyed a perfect lunch while feeling a bit tipsy.

Last week, I had the fried chicken set meal at Yoshinoya, so I decided to try the fried chicken set meal here at Katsuya in Toyosu. It was quite crowded and I had to wait for about 20 minutes before entering. It's a bit sad to wait this long at a chain restaurant, but it can't be helped. The fried chicken set meal comes with miso soup and shredded cabbage. The combination of miso soup and fried chicken is quite rare. There are 4 pieces of fried chicken, including some larger pieces, so the portion size is sufficient. The breading is thick and crispy, providing a satisfying texture. The quality of the meat, seasoning, frying, and portion size are all better than Yoshinoya. The cabbage is not that great, but the miso soup is delicious. I also appreciated the pickles on the table. At Yoshinoya, you can get free rice refills, but here it's at an extra cost. Katsuya requires waiting, while Yoshinoya is faster. Now, which one to choose? Both are equally good, so I'll probably go to either depending on my mood.

Katsuya is delicious, isn't it? I used to order takeout from the one near my house, but now that I've moved, I decided to treat myself to a katsudon after a long time. I ordered a set meal because I wanted some vegetables too. The food was served in just a few minutes, almost too fast! I've only eaten inside the restaurant a couple of times before, always at night, so I never realized how quickly they fry the food during the day. It must be convenient for busy office workers with limited lunch breaks. The tonkatsu, miso soup, and rice were perfect. The tonkatsu was crispy and made with good quality meat. The rice was cooked just right. I love the combination of tonkatsu with miso soup. Thank you for the delicious meal!

To enjoy tonkatsu easily, you can choose between Katsuya and Matsunoya as chain restaurants. I personally think Katsuya is tastier, but I heard that there was no Katsuya in Koto Ward until they finally opened one in Toyosu. When I wanted to eat tonkatsu, I decided to try it out. I ordered the set meal with loin cutlet and fried chicken, with a large serving of pork miso soup. There were quite a few staff members, and even though it was past lunchtime, they were all busy. I wonder if they get a lot of customers during peak hours? It was almost full at 2 pm. I think it would be nice if they opened more branches of this chain restaurant.

Today I had lunch in Toyosu. While walking around near the station, I spotted a big sign for Katsuya. I wondered if there was a tonkatsu restaurant here before and decided to go in. I don't remember ever going to Katsuya before. I was seated in about 5 minutes. I prefer hire katsu over rosu. This time, I ordered the hire katsu and miso soup set. After ordering, the food was ready in about 5 minutes. The set included two slightly large hire katsu pieces, cabbage, and miso soup. All of this for under 1000 yen, which is quite good, don't you think?

This place serves food that is definitely not healthy but tastes good! (laughs) There are two foreign staff members just standing around (laughs). [About the review] This is purely my personal subjective opinion. I take notes on the waiting time, entry time, and serving time to manage my schedule. Taste preferences vary from person to person, so I also evaluate based on customer service.

I had some shareholder benefits vouchers expiring in September, so I decided to take my kids to have lunch at Katsuya Toyosu branch during the summer holidays. I ordered a pork cutlet bowl (bamboo) with a can of beer for myself, and the kids ordered sauce cutlet bowls (bamboo, plum) with miso soup. I really love how the egg and sauce mix with the cutlet in a cutlet bowl, so whenever I go to a tonkatsu restaurant, I always end up ordering a cutlet bowl. The kids seem to prefer the sauce cutlet bowl though. Having a cutlet bowl with beer for lunch is the best!

"At Katsuya Toyosu branch, for lunch. I have eaten at the Tamachi branch a few times, but this is my first visit to this restaurant. Normally, I would like to have the "great breakfast set" which is a good deal, but it's already 11:30 am and they have switched to their regular menu. The self-service pot of Katsuya's dried daikon radish pickles is really wonderful, with a delicious katsuobushi flavor. Now, for my order, I chose the limited-time "kid's lunch for adults" which includes omurice, cabbage, shrimp fry, tartar chicken cutlet, and a wiener for 759 yen (tax included). The generous portion of cabbage is always a delight. I was torn between sesame dressing and tonkatsu sauce, but I decided to go with the tonkatsu sauce. The omurice has a perfect consistency of egg. The rice is cooked deliciously as always. The spicy yet mildly hot curry is delicious. The huge shrimp fry has a crispy coating and the sweetness of the meat is tasty. The fried wiener is also good on its own or with curry or tartar sauce. The tartar chicken cutlet brings back nostalgic flavors. It has a good amount of volume and tastes great. I leisurely enjoyed and finished the meal. It's so nice to be able to enjoy all this at such a price. I received a 100 yen discount coupon at the register on my way out, so I might come back again. Thank you so much!"

Access from Toyosu Station is good, and this place offers cheap and delicious food. You can get a katsudon for just one coin! It can get crowded during lunchtime, so if you're thinking of getting takeout, be prepared for a bit of a line. It's a popular spot!

I went out for dinner with a colleague who loves meat. What we had:
- Pork miso soup set (with pork cutlet) for 781 yen
I asked for less rice, but the portion was still huge! Amazing, Katsuya! The miso soup really hit the spot on these chilly March days. I'll definitely go back again!

Since changing my workplace in December last year, my boarding and alighting station has changed from Kiba Station to Toyosu Station, and I have visited this place several times. To be more precise, I have been a customer here since my days working in Sendai. On a weekday evening, I visited with a companion who was working from home. Around 7 pm, the front of the store was crowded with takeout customers and those dining inside. I ordered the Shrimp, Pork Fillet, and Minced Cutlet Set Meal for 790 yen, while my companion ordered the Roast Cutlet Set Meal for 540 yen with a Crab Cream Croquette for an additional 99 yen. Most of the customers inside were dining alone. Despite the constant flow of people, the staff handled cooking and serving with practiced ease. Soon, our meals arrived. The visual presentation was a deep brown color rather than a fox color for the three dishes. I dug in immediately. The shrimp had a crispy exterior followed by a juicy texture. The pork fillet was reasonably tender. The minced cutlet had a flavorful juiciness. The miso soup had just the right amount of saltiness and was delicious. Honestly, the meat and batter seemed a bit tough, possibly due to prolonged frying time, but it was still quite tasty. Considering the price, I have no complaints, and I am grateful to be able to enjoy this quality of food at this price. It would be rather foolish to expect the taste of a specialty restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

Responding to a request from a customer to visit their company's booth at HXJ2022, I headed to Toyosu and transferred to the Yurikamome line. Before that, I stopped by a restaurant that had caught my eye before, only to find a sign saying they would be closed from February 14th to February 28th. With no Plan B in mind, I decided to head to Big Sight early so that I could make it back home by 3 p.m. to attend an online seminar. As I looked towards the station, I noticed the orange sign of a nearby restaurant standing out. They offered a "Katsudon" for 490 yen, which seemed quick and convenient, so I went in. I ordered the "Katsudon (bamboo)" and took a seat at the only available spot at the counter. The person next to me ordered a "Katsudon (pine)" with extra broth. It was interesting that you could customize your order like at a gyudon restaurant! The 25 seats, including table and counter seats, were all occupied by middle-aged men. There were no female customers dining in, as they seemed to prefer takeout. Additionally, the restaurant received a constant stream of orders from food delivery services like Uber Eats and Demae-can. The kitchen staff of three and two waitstaff were working tirelessly to keep up. My "Katsudon" arrived about 10 minutes later, slightly dry but still acceptable with the broth and egg. At $4.25 (based on the exchange rate that day), it felt like a rare deal considering the deflation in Japan. Come to think of it, this might be the first time I've tried something other than menchikatsu at "Katsuya"! Well, it's not bad when you're in a hurry, I suppose. Thank you for the meal.

The other day, I had a katsudon at the Shinbashi branch and was surprised by how bad it tasted, so I was thinking of not going back again. However, since the surrounding restaurants were crowded, I decided to give it another chance and this time I ordered a hirekatsu don. The thickness of the cutlet was about 6mm. It was the thinnest hirekatsu I've ever had. There was also an unusually small amount of egg. They probably didn't even use one. It wasn't as oily and soggy as when I had it at the Shinbashi branch, but I can't really say it was delicious. It was not a katsudon that I would call tasty. It was Sunday lunchtime, and all the surrounding restaurants were packed, but this place was empty. It seems like customers know. If the costs don't match, it's better to raise the prices instead of compromising on quality. If the food becomes bad even though it's cheap, customers will leave. Katsuya needs to come to its senses soon, or it will be over.

Today's lunch was at the Katsuya Toyosu branch. There were people waiting in line at the takeout corner in front of the store. When I entered the store, it was packed and there was a wait of 5 people ahead of me. More customers kept coming in, but the turnover was good, and I was seated in about 10 minutes. Looking around the store, there were about 20 customers, all of them were men. I can't really say much about others, but there were many well-built men (laughs). Looking at the menu, as the name suggests, there were plenty of cutlets lined up. I ordered this limited-time special. The set included crispy pork cutlet and pork stamina grilled meat for 869 yen. The freshly fried crispy pork cutlet was delicious. The pork stamina grilled meat next to it had a strong miso garlic sauce, which went well with the rice. The pork miso soup (small) with lots of ingredients was also included, which was nice. There was plenty of rice too. The pickled daikon radish on the table was also available for purchase near the register. I enjoyed a hearty lunch.

I happened to find out about it on the internet on December 3rd, so I decided to go. It was only for 4 days, so it was unavoidable that it would be crowded. However, I managed to avoid some of the crowds by adjusting the time a bit and visiting Katsuya Toyosu store. It was the right decision as there were only 2 people waiting outside and I was seated in less than 5 minutes. The staff inside the restaurant were very busy, but I didn't have to wait long to enjoy the Sauce Katsu Don and pork miso soup. The sauce was a bit sweet for my taste, I prefer it a bit spicier like Worcestershire sauce. The thickness of the meat was just right for the price. The pork miso soup was light and they had daikon pickles on the table, which I found out they sell as souvenirs for around 100 yen (I forgot the exact price). I decided to buy it as a snack for tonight's drinking session.

I went to enjoy some tonkatsu during lunchtime! As expected during lunchtime, it was crowded. There were a few people waiting in line outside. The turnover speed is quite fast, so you may be able to get inside relatively quickly. I had a delicious tonkatsu bowl at a reasonable price. It's also nice to enjoy it leisurely outside during lunchtime.

(2021.09.18) Despite the pandemic, "Katsuya" is said to be maintaining a strong performance. One of the reasons is its strong business model for takeout, as well as the fact that many of its locations are in the suburbs, avoiding the impact faced by restaurants in busy downtown or business districts. A couple of months ago, "Katsuya" opened next to a ramen shop that I used to frequent. With around 430 stores nationwide, there was no need to go out of my way to visit, but I decided to stop by as the rain and wind from the typhoon calmed down around 2:00 PM. I chose the "Katsudon (Ume)" with an 80g pork cutlet, and also decided to have some vegetables by adding a large serving of miso soup. The miso soup was served in a larger bowl than I expected, filled with daikon radish, carrot, onion, konjac, and more. Although the vegetables seemed a bit overcooked and I couldn't find burdock, there were potatoes in it. The 80g pork cutlet in the Katsudon was thicker than I thought, and the meat was tender and flavorful without any toughness or unpleasant smell. I was satisfied with the quality exceeding the price. It would have been perfect if the rice soaked up a bit more of the broth, but I enjoyed it with the pickled radish and felt very satisfied.

I had some business in Toyosu in the morning, so for lunch I went to the recently opened Katsuya Toyosu branch and ordered a pork cutlet bowl (bamboo), a sauce cutlet bowl (bamboo), shrimp, fillet, and minced cutlet curry with miso soup (small). I arrived at 11 am, which was quite early, but there was already a wait for takeout, and there were over 10 customers inside. There seemed to be plenty of staff in the kitchen, maybe because it's a new store? It was my first time at Katsuya, and the freshly fried cutlets were incredibly delicious, and the meat was tender. While the flavors weren't particularly unique, everything was satisfyingly tasty. I couldn't help but think that they couldn't offer this quality at this price point. I thoroughly enjoyed the high cost performance. The only regret I had was not adding a soft-boiled egg to the pork cutlet bowl...

Congratulations! This is the location where "Tsukemen Sato" was before Katsuya opened in Toyosu. It just opened at the end of last month, so it's still new, but it seems quite busy with people ordering bento boxes. If you want to eat in, you might have to wait a bit.
