I visited the Ochaya cafe near Yasaka Pagoda after praying at the Otani Hombyo in Gion at 12:30 on a weekday. I usually go to the Arashiyama branch of Arabica, so this was my first time at the Kiyomizu branch. The two handsome baristas made a delicious and rich cafe latte for me. The cafe was filled with foreigners, mostly Asians. Luckily, I found an empty bench near the register (thank you to the two girls in yukata) and enjoyed my coffee there.

On the way up the hill to Hokan-ji Temple is a cafe called Arabica. The Kyoto latte I had there was delicious, with sweet condensed milk added. Inside the cafe, there are large white tables where you can sit and enjoy your drink. Right outside the cafe is Hokan-ji Temple, and taking a picture of your drink with the temple in the background makes for a great photo.

I used it before going to Kiyomizu Temple! It was lucky that it was not crowded in the morning! I think the dedication to the beans here is wonderful. The atmosphere is stylish and nice, and I am really satisfied. Oh, the atmosphere was also good. Thank you for the meal.

I visited Arabica Kyoto on July 2, 2023! It is located in the historic streets of Kyoto, along the way to Yasaka Pagoda in the Higashiyama district. They operate 3 stores in Kyoto and a total of 155 stores in 17 countries worldwide. The location is perfect as it is in the busiest tourist area in Kyoto. I went there around 9 am to avoid the crowds. One unique feature is that they use the "Slayer Espresso" machine in all their stores worldwide, which allows baristas to control the extraction temperature, water volume, and timing to pursue the "perfect espresso." The interior of the store is stylish and attracts many foreign tourists. It is owned by the world champion barista, Junichi Yamaguchi. I tried their Cafe Latte, which had a strong coffee flavor with a gentle milkiness, and their Americano, which they serve as an iced coffee. The latte art was beautiful. It was a refreshing experience, and the lively atmosphere reminded me of the old Kyoto.

A trendy cafe with a stylish percentage sign mark that is popular on social media. Due to the cherry blossom season, there was already a line forming at the opening time of 9:00. After waiting for about 20 minutes, I was finally able to place my order. I ordered the Kyoto Latte with condensed milk. They only offer one type of morning set, but they also sell baguettes. The coffee comes in two sizes, S and L. After another 20-minute wait, I was able to receive my order. There is a small seating area inside, but it's quite compact so it's better to plan for takeout. Since Yasaka Pagoda is nearby, the cup looks great for photos! The coffee has a refreshing and easy-to-drink taste with just the right amount of acidity and bitterness.

Visited during a trip, this popular coffee shop has three locations in Kyoto and is expanding globally. I have been to the Arashiyama branch several times, but this was my first time at the Higashiyama branch. Located halfway up the slope leading to Yasaka Pagoda, the location is excellent. I visited around 3 PM on a weekday, and with the easing of COVID restrictions, foreign tourists have returned to this area, making it very crowded. Almost everyone in line was a foreigner. I ordered an iced cafe latte. While a hot latte would showcase the latte art better, I was in the mood for something cold (laughs). Made using a professional coffee machine, the cafe latte had a rich aroma and a smooth texture. Not only does it taste great, but I also admire how well this coffee shop presents its coffee in such a fantastic location.

While strolling along Shimizu-zaka, I turned down a side street and was greeted by a lovely smoky aroma. I found a stylish and trendy coffee shop. It was a Saturday, but it wasn't too crowded. I ordered an Americano and savored the rich aroma while waiting inside. The smooth crema and well-balanced flavors of mild bitterness and refreshing acidity made it delicious. It was just the right temperature for enjoying while exploring.

The interior of the shop is simple with a white color scheme, creating a stylish atmosphere. There was one waitress managing the place, but customers kept coming in and before I knew it, there was a line forming. I tried the iced cafe au lait for 550 yen. As someone who doesn't like their coffee too sweet, I also asked for syrup, but after taking a sip, I found the rich milk blend to be delicious on its own. I didn't need the syrup after all. As I looked around the shop, I noticed they also sold sneakers, bags, and other accessories. Despite feeling a bit tense as an older gentleman, I could see that this trendy coffee shop in such a prime location would attract many tourists.

I had been to Arashiyama a few years ago, but this was my first time in Higashiyama. Near Yasaka Pagoda, there is a famous spot with colorful decorations like juggling balls. Right next to Yasaka Koshin-do Temple. The area is surrounded by temples and traditional buildings, but this cafe had a modern and stylish design. Just having a cafe latte there gave a sense of extraordinary experience, it was amazing.

On the way to Kiyomizu-dera, there is a coffee shop. I ordered an iced cafe latte for 550 yen. It had very little sweetness or acidity, with a strong sweetness and richness instead. It was rich and the coffee flavor came through even in the latte. It's a bit different from my preference, but it was delicious in its own way!
