I revisited the store on a weekday after 1 pm. As expected from a direct sales store, there were some slightly discounted items close to their expiration date. I purchased the "Nyanchi Plain 4 pieces (¥1100)", which was described as a Basque-style cheese cake, but I didn't really taste any burnt flavor. It had a moist and rich texture, similar to a dense rare cheesecake. The cheese flavor was strong, but there was a yogurt-like taste that made the aftertaste light. It's a cute and easy-to-eat cheese cake that would be great as a tea snack or as a gift due to its moderate size.

There is a shop called "NEKO NEKO CHEESECAKE" located next to the pudding specialty store "Pastel" in Maeno Town. I recently visited the cat-shaped bread shop "Neko Neko Shokupan" in Omotesando, and "Pastel" is also operated by the same company. Before coolly evaluating the strategy of targeting cat lovers with products like Neko Neko Cheesecake, I decided to try it first. They offer various products such as cheesecakes, cream cheese pies, and paw-shaped baked goods. I started with their main product, the "Nyan Chee (4 pieces)" for ¥1,000 (excluding tax) and the "Neko Neko Cheese Pie" for ¥330 (excluding tax). The Nyan Chee seems to be a nickname for the Neko Neko Cheesecake. It takes some courage to order with that name. The cheesecake is baked but doesn't have a strong heat inside, giving it a rare texture. It uses French cheese "Brie de Meaux" and is topped with apricot jam. The strawberry flavor is probably limited edition, but it doesn't overpower the cheese taste. The cheesecake is delicious without relying solely on its cat-shaped appearance. The cheese pie has a custard and cheese cream with blueberry jam sandwiched in between. Be careful as the jam might spill out when you take a bite. The star here is the crispy and flaky pie. It's substantial enough to be a lunch on its own. They also sell online, so if you visit the Maeno Town store, don't forget to get this cheesecake and some pudding from Pastel as souvenirs. The shop's mascots are named "Brie" and "Moo" after the cheeses used. Thank you for the meal.

I happened to pass by and noticed that there were more signs, so I decided to revisit the place. It seems they have started a new cat-shaped cheese tart specialty shop. The smaller sizes were sold out, so I ended up buying a whole size. They were having a grand opening sale with a slight discount. I purchased the "Neko Neko Cheesecake (¥1944)". It came in a light blue box with a cute paw-shaped opening. The cake itself was in the shape of a cat with pointed ears. It has a shelf life of 3 days, making it a good souvenir option. The tart was thick and moist with a crunchy texture in some parts. It had a buttery aroma and tasted delicious on its own. The cheesecake was interesting, with a moist, fluffy, and smooth texture. It had a unique combination of soufflé-like and rare cheese-like qualities. Despite being rich, it had a light mouthfeel, making it easy to eat about half of it. The original apricot jam on top was generous and complemented the cake well. Although a bit pricey, I liked the appearance, taste, and texture. I am interested in trying the smaller sizes and financiers, so I would like to come back again.
