Popular restaurant "Maribel Kyoto Main Store" located in Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto City. Currently, "Maribel Kyoto Main Store" has a rating of 3.74 on Tabelog, ranking 188th in the Tabelog ranking for Kyoto Prefecture out of approximately 22,000 restaurants. Additionally, it ranks 2nd in the Tabelog ranking for Kyoto Prefecture in the "Chocolate" category. I visited the cafe area before lunch. The restaurant is located towards the east of Karasuma Oike Station on the subway. It's about a 7-8 minute walk from the station. Upon arrival at the restaurant and entering, there were no other customers in the cafe area on the right side. I have visited in the past and had to leave due to it being full in the afternoon, but it seems that if you visit right after opening, you can use it smoothly. I sat at a high-quality table seat and checked the menu. This time, I ordered the gelato for 1,430 yen (tax included) and added a drink. The total came to 2,090 yen. After a short wait, the long-awaited dessert arrived. I was able to enjoy delicious gelato. "Maribel Kyoto Main Store" has been selected as one of the "Top 100 Restaurants" that have received high ratings from Tabelog users in various genres. It has been chosen as one of the "Tabelog Sweets Top 100 2022". It has received the evaluation, "If you want to encounter something delicious now, this is a must-visit." I successfully finished eating two types of gelato during morning hours. I was able to confirm the taste. Kyoto Prefecture has many outstanding famous restaurants. It is a region with a rich food culture. There are well-known establishments such as Kyoto cuisine "Kusakui Nakahigashi", Japanese cuisine "Mizai", Kaiseki cuisine "Shunseki Suzue", French cuisine "Ryouriya Stephan Pantel", Italian cuisine "Yamaguchi", meat dishes "Niku no Takumi Miyoshi", Chinese cuisine "Sai Ka", and Japanese sweets "Shougetsu" that are known far and wide. These popular restaurants compete with each other and strive to improve their skills. There are also many long-established restaurants with high skills cultivated over a long history. Visiting "Maribel Kyoto Main Store" in such a prefecture filled with famous restaurants and having a high-quality dining experience was very meaningful. I hope to continue learning from the wisdom of gourmet enthusiasts, expanding my knowledge, and deepening my experiences in the future.

I visited a dessert shop during lunchtime, thinking it would be less crowded. Luckily, I was able to sit right away. The chocolate shaved ice was interesting because the shaved ice itself was chocolate-flavored. The dessert plate had various chocolate sweets. The salted chocolate was delicious. I liked the glass cup with coffee in it.

I had always wanted to visit this restaurant after being impressed by the gift I received before. The prices were higher than expected, but the chocolates displayed in the showcase were like works of art. This time, I also stopped by the cafe and ordered the seasonal summer plate. Instead of cereal under the ice cream, there was chocolate shaved ice. This was so innovative! I was worried it would become messy, but it was a fun and exciting experience. Thank you for the meal.

I visited in the morning on a weekday and was able to get a seat right away, perhaps because it was a Monday. The interior of the restaurant was a nice blend of Japanese and Western styles, with Kyoto-themed decorations. I enjoyed two flavors of gelato and a cappuccino, and they were all delicious.

Just had a month's worth of chocolate in one sitting! Tried the hot chocolate, Gâteau au Chocolat, original gelato, and Darjeeling tea at @mariebelle_japan. The hot chocolate and Gâteau au Chocolat were the richest and most intense I've ever had. The chocolate shop had a cute antique vibe that girls would love. Located in Kyoto, it's a must-visit for chocolate lovers. #MarieBelle #Kyoto #chocolate #sweets #cafe #GionFestival #KyotoGionFestival #2023GionFestival

My son and his wife, who love chocolate, came to visit, so I had them try this place for the first time. The entrance is a little off the main street, with areas for takeout and dining in. We went in the evening, so it didn't feel crowded, and the staff kindly explained everything to me as a beginner, which was very helpful.

Before even entering the store, I noticed that it was stylish and had a calming atmosphere, despite there being children inside. I was able to enjoy my time comfortably. They had recently started offering a limited-time Chocolat Granité, but I ended up choosing a crepe instead. It had strawberries wrapped inside, and the perfect balance of chocolate sweetness and strawberry's slight tartness. I usually don't like whipped cream, but this one was light and easy to eat. It was delicious, so I also bought some as souvenirs on my way home.

"Maribel," located along the Yatamachi-dori Street in Kyoto, is a famous chocolate confectionery shop that originated in New York! It is also known for its exquisite gelato created by a genius. The shop has been selected as one of the top 100 sweets shops for four consecutive seasons, solidifying its reputation. The shop maintains a traditional Kyoto townhouse charm with a distinctive light blue entrance. The interior exudes a Western atmosphere. During a visit on a weekday evening, the shop had a decent number of customers, many of whom seemed interested in the chocolate confections. The gelato, known as the specialty of the shop, is described as being created by a gelato genius, Mr. Ueki. Customers can choose their favorite flavors. I ordered the "Angelina" gelato in a small cup, which had a rich fruitiness from mango and raspberry on a milk base. Despite its richness, the flavor was light and refreshing. The combination of the creamy mango and tangy raspberry was excellent. The portion size was reasonable, and the chocolate cream cookie sandwich served alongside was also delicious. The gelato was perfect for a hot day, offering a refreshing treat. The staff were polite and provided excellent service. The gelato was delicious, and the shop's ambiance was lovely. While the prices were somewhat high, the quality of the products made it worth it. Overall, Maribel in Kyoto's Yatamachi-dori Street is a wonderful shop for chocolate confections and gelato. If you're curious, I recommend visiting this charming establishment. [Foodlog Rating 3.73 (at the time of visit)]

I thought it was impressive how they can survive despite being expensive and not very tasty. The unique atmosphere seems to hold some value though. The iced coffee was 935 yen and the ganache hazelnuts were 660 yen. The iced coffee was bitter and acidic, while the chocolate was just sweet. Brands like Lindt or Godiva are much tastier. It's no longer just a matter of personal preference. What's the deal with this place? What's so popular about it?

"Maribel" is a chocolate specialty shop in New York filled with dreams of girls ❤️ Founded in 2004 by chocolatier Maribel Lieberman from Honduras, South America. Although there are only shops in New York, Kyoto, and Osaka, this luxury chocolatier has already received high praise. The chocolates are priced at over 800 yen each, but they are too cute in design. There are various designs and flavors, and I spent nearly 30 minutes in front of the showcase trying to decide. This time, I chose a Kyoto limited edition design. It's not cheap, but it's perfect for a gift. I would be extremely happy to receive such chocolates!!

The chocolate cake, priced at 1430 yen, was incredibly rich in chocolate flavor. It paired well with the acidity of the raspberry jam. However, I felt that the price was a bit too high.

I was very excited by the cute interior of the shop! I wanted to go to the cafe, but unfortunately, I ran out of time! I definitely want to go next time. I visited Mariabelle only once when it first opened, and this time was a long-awaited visit. However, the chocolates were a bit pricey, so I hesitated to buy them. I ended up buying just two pieces and enjoyed them. Hmm... But if it's just chocolates, maybe GODIVA would be better. They also have reasonably priced cookies and cute gifts in bags, which are both adorable and delicious.

I visited around 1 pm on a regular day and was seated right away as there were only 3 groups of customers. I had decided to have gelato, so I chose pistachio and milk chocolate flavors. The milk chocolate was a bit sweet, but the pistachio was rich and delicious with lots of pistachios in it! The chocolate and cookies that came with the ice cream were a nice touch. And the chocolate-covered nuts they gave as a bonus were really tasty! ♡

I didn't know that there was a cafe space like a secret hideaway for Maribel-san, and I used a cafe for the first time ☕︎ After ordering and paying at the register, they explained how to get to the cafe space. I was full of excitement to eat gelato, so I ordered a 3-flavor gelato. Looking back now, I thought maybe I should have chosen a menu that can only be eaten in a cafe... haha. The total cost for a drink and set was ¥1760, which was a bit expensive, but the cafe space had a wonderful atmosphere that reminded me of Alice in Wonderland, which I really liked ♡ Of course, the gelato was delicious too ☺︎ Next time, I think I'll go for a cake option haha.

Visited on Saturday afternoon. Ordered Gelato from Angelina and Pistachio flavor. Angelina is a mix of Cassis, Yogurt, and Mango. It's slightly expensive at around 1000 yen, but the quality is high. If it's not busy, you can also enjoy it on the terrace.

I visited around 1:30 pm on a regular day. I was seated right away and there were only two other customers. This place is a popular chocolatier originating from New York. The interior has about 20 tables, not very spacious but perfect for a girls' get-together. I ordered the "Gelato Assortment 2 Flavors for 1430 yen" in milk chocolate and raspberry. It was served in about 5 minutes. The milk chocolate had a nice sweetness that wasn't overpowering, with a smooth melt-in-your-mouth texture. The raspberry had a great flavor with a refreshing acidity that cleansed the palate. It was a good choice to pair these two flavors. It's relatively close to Karasuma Oike and Sanjo, so it could be a nice break during sightseeing. However, it may be a bit pricey... Thank you for the meal.

【Top 100 Stores 2022】Maribel Main Store (Visit Date: June 14, 2023, around 14:00) A New York chocolate shop has expanded into the Kansai region, with its Japanese main store located in Kyoto. They use carefully selected ingredients from around the world to create original chocolates that can only be enjoyed in Japan. ✔︎ Chocolate (4 pieces for 3,300 yen) → Chocolates with Kyoto-themed prints are lined up in the showcase. The flavors include matcha and hojicha, offering a taste of Japan! ✔︎ Shop Service & Atmosphere → Upon entering the noren curtain and walking a bit, you'll feel like you're in a different country. Beyond the door lies Europe. The atmosphere is very stylish.

I ordered the Ganache Set. For an additional 660 yen, you can choose one favorite ganache with your preferred drink. The ganache I chose is "Vanilla". The story behind it is about Angelina wearing her mom's high heels, styling her hair, putting on sunglasses, and rushing to meet her friends... but not forgetting her favorite ice cream. The total cost was 1,595 yen (including tax). Thank you for the delicious meal! Thank you Maribel Kyoto Main Store, Ooki ni Manju!

The cheesecake with persimmon was delicious with just the right amount of sweetness. The café space in the back of the store, past the chocolate and sweets section, had antique-style tables and chairs, a cozy chandelier, and a cute atmosphere that was very soothing. It was a delightful experience. The staff were very polite and I had a great time. It was a nice addition to my trip.

While strolling around cafes in Kyoto, I came across a cafe that caught my eye. The cafe had a blue sign that blended in with the traditional Japanese atmosphere of Kyoto. The building itself exuded the history of Kyoto. Before even entering the cafe, the menu was displayed outside. It seemed like a cafe owned by a foreign company, with a very Western vibe. It was more of a sweets shop with a cafe inside. The staff asked if I was there for the cafe or the shop, and guided me to a less desirable table. The cafe was almost empty, with a lively 50s music playing in the background. I ordered a coffee for ¥880, which was served in a glass cup. The taste was nothing special, and I felt like I was in my own little world. I left before the last order, as I was not enjoying the experience. At the cashier, they tried to sell me some items, but I declined and left. Perhaps the previous cafe I visited was too amazing in comparison?

It was hot and I was craving something cold, so I ended up buying a 2-piece set of chocolates - milk chocolate and vanilla. I also got gelato and paid with a card for a total of 3280 yen. When I got home, I tried the chocolates and surprisingly they were not too sweet, but had a good balance of flavors. Very delicious.
