Memorandum: Third visit. Both lunch and dinner were miraculously private dining experiences, but for the first time, the counter was fully occupied, making me a bit nervous. However, I had a pleasant conversation with the proprietress and we seemed to hit it off, not just with the chef. It was the perfect night in Kyoto to end 2022. Everything was delicious, but the standout dish today was the matcha mousse somen with Omi beef thigh meat. The combination of the meat's deliciousness, texture, and sauce created an exciting sensation in my mouth. The Gobal pork and Omi beef fillet katsu were also impressive. Especially the pork had an amazing appearance, sweetness, and umami. The kombu-shime was also delicious... I would like to try the tongue shabu-shabu with this offal. The Italian-style simmered offal was also delicious. Even the grappa added at the end was a perfect pairing today. Grateful! This is a counter-only shop. They serve meat in courses. They also served curry as a service at the end. They have a variety of wines available. It seems relatively easy to make a reservation at the Kyoto location. It was delicious. If you haven't been, you should go at least once!

This is my second visit. Last time, the tonkatsu was incredibly delicious, so I asked the staff when they would have katsu curry and went back. They provided me with their LINE contact information during my first visit, which I found very convenient for seasonal information and reservations. This time, I came specifically for the katsu curry, and it exceeded my expectations. The tonkatsu was delicious as always, but the curry also used aged meat and was so good that I thought they could open a curry-only shop. I have to admit, the aged meat was even more delicious than last time. In particular, the beef sashimi had the perfect amount of marbling, which made me wonder why I didn't notice it last time (laughs). I wonder if the meat is different now? I only visit for lunch, but the quality for the price is really high. I am satisfied with the quality at this price point. They also offer different dishes at night, so I am looking forward to visiting in the evening next time. Thank you for the meal!

This is my first visit to the restaurant since it moved from near Kyoto City Hall to Gion. Whenever I feel like having wine and various types of meat in the middle of Kyoto, this is the place I choose! They serve meat from Mr. Shinbo in Shiga, and sometimes Mr. Shinbo himself visits the restaurant. However, when it comes to wine pairing, either due to the price or my preference for dry wine, I tend to choose the wine with my friends rather than going for the pairing option. The way they cook the meat is excellent, and I personally enjoy sitting at the counter. I am planning to go back with friends soon, but unfortunately, they will be closed that day for an event. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who visits! ♪(๑ᴖ◡ᴖ๑)♪

I visited the restaurant for lunch. The place is probably just a counter? It's not a large restaurant, as it can only accommodate about 4 groups, but each person has plenty of space to relax. The owner and two others run the place, and the food is served just right, giving off a well-thought-out impression. The owner is friendly and engaging, not only explaining the dishes but also entertaining guests. The aged meat may have a slightly unique flavor, which might not be to everyone's liking, but they are creative in how they serve it, like in yakisoba, making the dining experience enjoyable. I had a really fun and delicious time. Besides beef, they also serve tonkatsu, which was personally the best I've ever had in my life (laughs). It might be a bit rude to say that about an aged meat kaiseki, but it was truly delicious. Of course, I also enjoyed other tasty meats. They also serve curry in the summer, so why not give it a try? Thank you for the meal!

I visited this restaurant for the first time after searching on Tabelog to welcome guests from Europe with aged Japanese beef in Gion. The restaurant is located a little off Hanami-koji and has only been open for about two years. They have a strong commitment to aged meat and it was delicious. Thank you for the meal. I will upload all the menu items with comments and photos. Today, the counter with 6 seats was fully booked. I visited for a Christmas dinner! It was so fun to see the chefs cooking. When eating steak, I could choose the knife I wanted to use! Each dish showed the chef's dedication and it was a wonderful time! I would love to visit again for special occasions!

Jukusei Niku Italian Wappo - Gion, Kyoto - For lunch today, I went to the Jukusei Niku Italian Wappo restaurant in Gion with some local friends. We ordered the lunch course (7 dishes) for 8,800 yen and the wine pairing (3 types) for 4,400 yen. The dishes included: - Daigyu oysters and yuba soup - Kombu-cured Omi beef - Charcoal-grilled winter Kyoto Jukusei Jidori chicken with white miso - Bolognese with 3 types of aged meat - Charcoal-grilled Omi beef lamp meat, free-range wild beef, mother cow rib roast, and more - Rice cooked in a pot, pickles, simmered dish, red miso soup - Dessert (wine) The wines served were: - Chateau de Gaure Oppidum Limoux 2020 - Ganko Olivier Riviere 2013 - Domaine le Sang des Cailloux / Vacqueyras Cuvée Lopy It was my first time visiting this restaurant, and I was impressed by the unique combination of Italian and Japanese influences in the meat course. A wonderful restaurant in the traditional Kyoto style of machiya in Gion. After running an Italian restaurant in Gifu, the chef opened a meat restaurant in Kyoto. They use the high-quality aged meat from Sakae-ya in Gifu for their courses. The lunch course, priced at 8800 yen, includes 9 dishes and offers great value. Chef Oka's selection of aged meat is full of rich flavor and aroma. - Hormone tomato stew with celery and cheese, to dip bread in. - Pupugi (beef lung) charcoal-grilled, offering a unique texture of tenderness and chewiness. - Tongue, with a nice charcoal aroma and good texture. - Salad with strawberries and beef flakes. - Bolognese with Omi beef, pasture-raised beef, and domestically produced beef. The addition of orange zest adds a refreshing touch. The light seasoning allows the flavors of beef and fat to shine, with excellent pasta texture. - Omi beef rump string, with intense flavor and irresistible aroma, leaving a lingering taste of beef. - Yoshida Ranch Blanc Swiss beef, offering a satisfying chew and a rich taste. Served with Blanc Swiss cheese. The interior of the restaurant exudes a natural and clean feeling with wooden elements, providing a serene atmosphere to enjoy the dishes. After 25 years in the industry as a seasoned chef specializing in aged meat, I visited the new restaurant opened by the veteran chef last month for lunch. Located in a secluded area of Gion, the restaurant had a wonderful interior and I had a great view of the garden from my seat at the end, probably because I made an early reservation. The lunch prices were very reasonable, and the counter seats were all full. This time, I tried the aged meat from Omi and Tokachi for 40 days, and it was definitely more delicious than the game meat (laughs).

A new restaurant called Gion Niku Ryori Okakiya has opened in Gion. It used to be Prago Fujiyoshi in Okazakimachi, but now it has moved and become a meat specialty restaurant. The restaurant is known for serving aged meat produced by Sakae-ya Shinpo, who was featured on NHK's "Professional Work Style" program. The meat is only supplied to a limited number of restaurants. Even during the Prago Fujiyoshi era, the steak cooked by the chef was always in high demand for counter reservations. The same is true for this new restaurant, as reservations were already pouring in before the opening. This time, we tried a comparison of Tokachi Wagyu lamp and Omi beef, and the unique qualities of each beef stood out, with the flavors exploding in our mouths! We look forward to visiting again to try different types of beef!

Visited with a friend who loves meat. We heard that they source their meat from famous shops and had high expectations. However, we were quite disappointed. The meat itself had good flavor, but it was tough and not tender, which may not appeal to those who prefer tender meat. The seasoning was inconsistent, sometimes too light and sometimes too strong. The interior and garden were nice, so it's a shame. For this price, a yakiniku restaurant would be a better choice. We won't be visiting again.
