Today, in addition to the lunch menu, I was able to order items from the dinner menu as well, so I added some dishes. I ordered chawanmushi, scallop butter grill, simmered bamboo shoots, grilled bamboo shoots, and white fish tempura. Everything was delicious.

Delicious reservation plan: A 6-course meal from appetizers to dessert, but the portions are small. It might be good for women who plan to have a big cake afterwards, but if you come for lunch, you might feel unsatisfied. The dish included a small piece of fish, which was tasty, but I wished there was more. The fish was delicious and the other dishes like simmered dishes were carefully prepared, which set this place apart from others. Since it's originally a high-end restaurant, I appreciate the lunch set for 2000 yen, but I don't think I'll come back again. I'm sorry, the photo is taken halfway through the meal.

I had a set lunch (2000 yen) with bamboo shoot salad, egg tofu, rolled omelette, grilled squid, sashimi, simmered dish, red miso soup, pickles, white rice, and strawberry for dessert. The egg tofu had a strong dashi flavor and was delicious. The bamboo shoot salad was subtle in taste. The rolled omelette was juicy and flavorful with plenty of dashi, and very tender. The grilled squid was tasty and flavorful. The sashimi, consisting of sea bream and marinated tuna, was fresh but average in taste. The simmered dish had a light seasoning. The red miso soup contained fish bones and was satisfying. The rice was served with plenty of shredded dried bonito flakes. The pickles had a slightly strong acidity and were not heavily seasoned. The dessert of strawberries with a hint of condensed milk was refreshing and slightly sweet. Overall, the set lunch was satisfying, especially the rolled omelette, considering the location in Gion and the price of 2000 yen.

During my trip to Kyoto, I wanted to eat delicious Japanese cuisine, so I asked a friend who lives in Kyoto for recommendations and made a reservation. Instead of opting for the chef's choice course, I chose dishes a la carte, but the menu was so appealing that I ended up adding more dishes as well as trying the recommendations from others around me. The selection of dishes and the recommendations for various types of sake were fantastic. I definitely want to visit this restaurant again.

If you're going to Kyoto, you'll want to try something that truly represents Kyoto, not Italian or anything like that, but authentic Japanese cuisine. However, I don't feel like spending thousands of yen. While searching for a restaurant, I came across Kikumasa, where lunch costs 2000 yen. For dinner, the budget is around 14,000 yen. I couldn't believe it at first, but I made a reservation over the phone the day before. The reservation process was simple, just gave my last name. The simplicity of it all gave me a sense of tradition and made me feel like I was in Kyoto. Kikumasa opens at 11:30 AM. Inside, there is a long counter and table private rooms at the back. I opted for the 2000 yen lunch set. First, I had warm egg tofu, which was gentle and delicious. Then, a slightly sweet white dish that resembled shiraae. It was tasty. I also had a beer, which was around 500 yen. The sashimi, with sea bream and tuna, was fresh and flavorful. The sea bream soup was delicious, and the dashimaki tamago was warm and comforting. The meal also included rice, pickles, miso soup, and a dessert of persimmon. All of it was delightful. The total cost was around 2000 yen, or 2500 yen with the beer. It was a great deal, especially during the busy weekend season in Kyoto. The location is convenient, not far from Yasaka Shrine. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the staff were friendly and easy to talk to. It was a great find and added to the enjoyment of my day in Kyoto.

Gion's Takakimasu Counter Kappo in Suyoshicho-dori Yamato-ohji Higashi is a popular restaurant with a great atmosphere, especially at night. Their lunch is high quality and reasonably priced at 2,000 yen. The dishes are prepared right in front of you and served one by one, making for a delicious dining experience.

Our restaurant is located a 3-minute walk from Keihan Gion Shijo Station. There is no parking available. The exterior looks like a typical building in the Gion area, while the interior has a traditional Japanese restaurant atmosphere with a 10-seat counter and private tatami room at the back. We were able to secure a reservation for the next day, and the phone reception was very polite. The menu seems to offer a single lunch course priced at 2000 yen including tax. The course includes grilled eggplant, homemade egg tofu, 2 kinds of sashimi, rolled omelette and grilled cod, chilled simmered dish, miso soup, shredded mountain pepper, pickles, rice (with free refills), and pear dessert. Each dish is prepared with care and skill, and the temperature of the containers is well-maintained. The main dish, the rolled omelette, stands out with its rich dashi flavor. At 2000 yen including tax, it seems like a good deal considering the quality of the food. The customers include regulars and tourists, and we even saw families with young children. The service was attentive, and we would definitely like to visit this restaurant again.

At Takemasa in Sueyoshi-cho, Nawa-te, I dropped in for lunch. They served seasonal vegetables like bamboo shoots and sashimi beautifully, with dishes like rolled omelette, miso-marinated fish, simmered dish, bamboo shoot rice, soup, pickles, and even strawberries, all for just 2000 yen! It's a hidden gem! At night, you can enjoy a drink alone at the counter with a variety of dishes. The lunch is very reasonable. The restaurant is a bit hard to find, but the three chefs are friendly and the food is delicious!

I visited the restaurant after seeing a review on "Tabelog" that praised the high level of food despite the reasonable prices. I had the lunch set for around 2000 yen, but unfortunately, I was not impressed for the following reasons: 1. The appetizers were lacking in flavor and creativity. The tofu and yuzu dish was average, but the broth was too light. The daikon, aburaage, and carrot salad felt like it was pre-made and lacked any interesting flavors. It seemed like amateur cooking rather than a professional dish. 2. The sashimi was disappointing. The photos made it look vibrant, but in reality, it looked dull and unappetizing. It felt like the fish was not fresh and lacked the quality I expected for the price. 3. The dashimaki tamago had too much moisture and was too loose in texture. The layers of the omelette were not well-defined, which I did not prefer. 4. The simmered dish was beautifully presented in a black bowl, but the flavors fell short. The koyadofu was bland, and the Kyoto carrots and daikon were too soft for my liking. The snap peas were not the authentic "silk snap peas," so they did not meet my expectations. Overall, I was not satisfied with the quality of the food despite the high prices.

During the preparation process, you can enjoy a typical Kyoto daily lunch, which gives you a glimpse of the efficient preparation for the evening service. The dishes may seem simple, but the quality of each one is exceptional. It's recommended to eat until you are 80% full, rather than stuffing yourself. If you're looking for a hearty lunch or a special dining experience, you should go to another restaurant. This place is more suited for those who want to savor the everyday life of Kyoto.

I had been curious about this restaurant for a while and had been considering visiting. I was particularly interested in their lunch set meals centered around sushi rolls. This was my first visit and I was looking forward to it. Satisfied Points: - The compactly arranged lunch set is very appealing. Concerns/Displeasure: - I didn't feel any anxiety about anything. Cleanliness: - There were no issues with cleanliness. Customer Service: - I think the level of service was just right. Transportation Convenience: - There are plenty of coin parking lots in the area. Reservation Difficulty: - I had no problem making a reservation. Recommendation Rating (out of 5 stars): 4 stars The compactly arranged lunch set at this Kyoto counter-style restaurant is excellent. You can enjoy surprisingly affordable meals in the evening, and when you don't want a full meal at lunchtime, this place comes in handy. I highly recommend their delicious lunch. It was very tasty. Thank you for the meal.

I finished eating all the dishes that were served one after another in just under 30 minutes. Even though it wasn't crowded, I wished I could have savored the food more slowly. I was waiting for the main dish to come out, but it ended with just rice and dessert. I wanted at least one more dish like simmered fish, grilled fish, tempura, or some kind of meat. I was hoping for a more leisurely and enjoyable lunch on a relaxing holiday, where I could stay for at least 30 minutes chatting. It cost 2000 yen, and it was a bit disappointing compared to the reviews. I won't be going back again.

One day, after finishing shopping in a hurry in the morning, it was time for lunch. Even though I was in Kyoto, I had to catch the 1:30 PM Shinkansen back, so I couldn't have a leisurely meal. I was thinking of grabbing a quick bite at Fuyoen or Hamamura in Kyoto for Chinese food, but I found this place on Tabelog and made a reservation through Ichijiku. It was a 2000 yen lunch at a traditional Japanese restaurant near Gion Shijo Station. There was no sign outside the restaurant, so only reserved customers were allowed in. The set menu consisted of 6 dishes from appetizers to soup of the day, all of which were of high quality and skillfully prepared. It might not be satisfying for those seeking a luxurious meal in Kyoto, but for those who appreciate the essence of food, it was quite satisfying. I had requested to be served earlier due to time constraints when making the reservation, and they handled it smoothly. Thanks to that, I finished my meal in about an hour and made it to the Shinkansen on time (laughs). Of course, they normally serve each dish in order, and you can add another dish for an additional 1000 yen, so it's a place where you should take your time and enjoy. On that day, the two elderly ladies from Ashiya sitting next to me were enjoying themselves leisurely with alcohol. I envy them. I said goodbye to the owner and left the restaurant, promising to visit again. This time, I had to go to Kyoto suddenly for an old friend's celebration. It was hectic, but it was still nice. When things settle down, I want to plan carefully and visit slowly.

I had lunch at this restaurant located south of Shirakawa in Gion. There is a counter and private rooms, and I had reserved a private room in advance. The lunch set costs around 2,000 yen and includes a variety of dishes. First, I had a sashimi platter - it was difficult to find fresh fish in Kyoto city without spending a lot of money. Next, I enjoyed the rolled omelette which was fluffy and flavorful. The meal also included rice, miso soup, pickles, and dried fish, typical of Japanese cuisine. Overall, I think 2,000 yen is reasonable for experiencing traditional Japanese cuisine at a ryokan, although there are many other high-quality restaurants available for the same price. If you want to experience the atmosphere, then it's worth a visit!

I wanted to try some Kyoto-style Japanese cuisine, so I made a reservation for the 2000 yen lunch here. Everything was delicious with a rich dashi flavor. The rolled omelette was so soft and tasty, unlike anything I can make at home. The rice was also freshly cooked and really good. I would like to visit again. However, there were no COVID-19 measures in place. The staff were not wearing masks, the counter seats were so close that our shoulders touched the neighboring guests, and there was no hand sanitizer available.

Today I had work in Gion, so I decided to stop by here for lunch during my break. Just the thought of having lunch in Gion gets me excited! When I arrived at the restaurant, there were only two other customers. It's a rainy day and I came for a late lunch, so it's not crowded. The sophisticated and calm atmosphere of Gion is really nice. The lunch menu offers one set meal priced at 2,000 yen. When I sat down, they asked if I wanted a drink, but since I'm working, I just asked for tea. I envy those who can drink during the day! The meal started with a light simmered pea dish and some nanohana (rape blossoms) in a traditional Japanese style. Normally, I would start eating, but I waited until everything was served. Then, the rolled omelette, grilled fish, sashimi (sea bream, tuna), and simmered vegetables were served. The rolled omelette was especially delicious, fluffy and made fresh upon ordering. However, the rice took a while to come out. Ah, I remember now, sometimes they bring out the rice at the end in these kinds of restaurants. Sorry, can I have the rice first, please? Oh, you're okay with that already? Haha, I see. Once all the dishes were ready, I took a photo and started eating! The simmered pea dish had a gentle dashi flavor that felt soothing and comforting to my body. Delicious! The nanohana in traditional Japanese style was also tasty! The rolled omelette had a rich dashi flavor that was so good, even though the egg had started to release some of the dashi due to the wait. The simmered vegetables and sashimi were all delicious. The rice was shiny and perfect. I finished off the meal with some refreshing strawberries. This lunch truly showcased the best of Japanese cuisine - gentle on the body and effortlessly satisfying. I'm grateful to have been born in Japan. It was a lunch that made me appreciate the goodness of Japanese food once again (a bit exaggerated, maybe? Haha). Thank you for the meal!

If I can't get in, I'll be in trouble!! Let's call ahead for now. "Is it okay for one person in about 10 minutes?" "That's fine, we'll be waiting for you!" "Oh, okay, thank you♪" Is it really okay like this? Normally they would ask for your name, right? I'm confused. They hung up without asking anything... (laughs) When I arrived at the restaurant at 12:00 and opened the door, I see, that's what it meant. No guests! Please sit wherever you like. Even at such a popular restaurant, times are tough now, huh. They welcome you with thick hot towels and hot tea, just like in Kita-Shinchi♪ They make the food after seeing the customer's face, and serve it beautifully. I love this kind of restaurant with a sense of security! Naturally, each dish is served one by one, giving a little taste of kaiseki♪ The balance between cold and hot dishes and changing the temperature of the dishes is done properly. Amazing♪ The fluffy rolled omelette that seems to have the maximum amount of dashi. It's huge, but is this the main dish? It's so delicious that it seems like it is♪ If they had grilled dishes, it would be the perfect lunch. Delicious, and the chef's service is also well done. I think it's a real Kaiseki restaurant in Gion♪ But can you listen to an old man's whims? I'd like the scent of the hot towel to be a little weaker... and the wasabi for the sashimi. Even at a 1000 yen lunch in Kita-Shinchi, they serve real wasabi... A Gion Kaiseki restaurant with no menu outside or inside. Who will come in as they pass by? You don't know the price! It's too scary, isn't it? (laughs) But at lunch, you can enjoy authentic Japanese cuisine for 2000 yen at this kind and gentle restaurant♪ I thought it would be around 1600 yen, but when they said "We'll take 2000 yen," I was surprised because I didn't know about the price increase... (laughs)

The lunch here is amazing, truly amazing. For just 2000 yen, you can enjoy the taste of a high-class restaurant. It's a hidden gem that not many people know about, so there's no lunch menu available and it's not a place where people just walk in. The lunch menu is omakase only, but the basic structure is the same for everyone. You are seated at the counter where there are three staff members, each with their own role. First, you are served two seasonal small dishes, one of which is bamboo shoots. They are so tender and perfectly seasoned, I wanted to ask for seconds. Next is a small sashimi platter, which is also delicious. Then you get to watch the fluffy dashimaki tamago being prepared right in front of you. It's so fluffy and flavorful, you can't replicate this at home. The grilled fish on the side is also delicious, I wanted more of that too. Then you have a soup and some side dishes, all undeniably delicious. The freshly cooked rice with tasty miso soup and Kyoto's famous sansho chirimen go so well together. Finally, you get a dessert, on this day it was strawberries, and they were so sweet. No shortcuts even with dessert. I'm sure the dinner prices are higher, but for lunch, it's really a great deal and casual. It's a bit off the main street, but not far from the center of Gion. I think this place is fantastic, and from now on, this will be my go-to spot for lunch in Gion. I want to recommend this to those who are hesitating due to the prices in Kyoto. Kikumasashi is a gem that is wallet and heart-friendly. How about trying it out? I highly recommend it.

I found a Japanese restaurant near Kawaramachi. The portion may not be large as it is in Gion. I made a reservation for 12 o'clock after having a hearty breakfast. It was a bit hard to find on the map as it is located inside a building. You can easily find it by walking down Shijo Street towards Yasaka Shrine, passing Gion Shijo Station, turning left at Issen Western Food, then left again at the second wide road before the bridge. The restaurant is on the left side of the street. Inside, there are 10 counter seats and 5 customers already there. The kitchen had 3 men, and the atmosphere was casual, maybe due to the summer or lunchtime. This restaurant only offers an omakase lunch set (1,600 yen including tax), and you can choose drinks like beer or wine. First, we had sashimi, including tuna and white fish, which was delicious and refreshing for the hot summer. Then came the tamagoyaki and fish grilled in the Kyoto style. The tamagoyaki was sweet with a firm texture, almost like a rolled omelette on a plate. The fish tasted like cod. Next was koya tofu with eggplant, cool and well-seasoned without being too salty. The meal was completed with rice and soup, served with chirimen sansho and pickles. The soup was thick and sweet, similar to kasu-jiru. The portion was small, so I ended up getting a rice refill. The dessert was watermelon, my first of the year. Overall, despite the small portion, the flavors were satisfying. The open kitchen added a casual touch to the atmosphere, making it a comfortable dining experience. The menu featured traditional Kyoto summer dishes. Although the prices were not listed, I felt like returning in the evening with a more formal attire. Sometimes it's nice to cool off at a place like this.

The lunch set at "Kikumasa" is popular and highly rated. Although there are very few reviews for dinner, the ones available are quite positive, so I decided to check it out. I called around 5 PM without a reservation, in the mood for Japanese cuisine, and was able to get a table for 6 PM. I was the first customer of the evening. The restaurant has a small counter with about 10 seats, and the three chefs behind the counter warmly welcomed me. There is also a private room towards the back. The dinner menu is mainly a la carte. Here's what I ordered: - Draft beer - Cold sake - Sashimi platter - Octopus simmered in soy sauce - Grilled ayu fish with salt - Dashi-maki tamago (rolled omelette) - Tempura assortment - Soba noodles The dishes were elegant and subtly flavored. The dashi (broth) used in the dishes was well-balanced and flavorful. The grilled ayu fish was perfectly cooked, with crispy skin and tender flesh. The tempura was served piping hot, right after being fried, which was a nice touch. The only disappointment was the sashimi, as the slices were quite small, and the tai (red snapper) did not taste good. The communication with the chef at the counter was a nice touch, and the dishes were served promptly, allowing me to enjoy them without waiting. By 7 PM, the restaurant was full of regular customers, creating a lively atmosphere. Despite the limited reviews on food review websites, the restaurant seemed to be thriving. I look forward to trying the hot pot on my next visit.

Today at lunch, I visited Takahisa. The restaurant located off of Shijo Street was full by 12 o'clock. I started with sashimi. The tuna and sea bream sashimi were delicious and fatty. The texture of the sea bream skin was firm, and it was my first time trying it alone. The egg was fluffy with a hint of dashi, which was very tasty. The soup had a strong pumpkin flavor, and the fu soaked up the broth nicely. The rice and dessert were affordable, and I was able to try a variety of dishes, but overall, I felt like the portion size was not satisfying for lunch. The rolled omelette was very delicious, but I thought that having a main dish like grilled fish would make it more satisfying.
