As a big fan of Yoshinoya, I can't help but feel a bit nostalgic. From Roppongi intersection, go down Imo-zaka. It's around the area where the slope coming down from Udon-zaka on Gaien Higashi-dori intersects. Old drinking buddies would know places like Kentos and where Yoshinoya used to be. Yes, this restaurant used to be a Yoshinoya. I used to rely on it a lot, late at night, or was it early morning? I must have used it for about 20 years along with the Yoshinoya near the Actor's Studio on Roppongi-dori, which is now "AFURI". But both are gone now, so if I want to eat Yoshinoya beef bowl in Roppongi, I have to take a taxi to Aoyama-itchome, Akasaka, or Kamiyacho. It becomes quite a luxury beef bowl (laughs). Now, this restaurant that opened in that location is one of my routines, a seafood izakaya. I also frequent seafood izakaya lunches. First of all, the probability of being able to smoke is high. I can get full with the free extra large serving of food. There is a high probability that I can enjoy sashimi, grilled fish, simmered fish, and fried food. "Grilled fish set meal" (999 yen) - as shown in the photo. The grilled fish was salmon, which was probably the daily special. In addition to the main dish, it comes with two side dishes, miso soup, seasoned seaweed, and natto. If it came with a raw egg, it would be perfect, I thought. Oh, it's kind of like a breakfast, I realized. Well, it was just right for me that day because it was like breakfast. The grilled salmon was cooked nicely. As usual, I eat it with grated daikon radish and soy sauce, but wait? I thought again. The soy sauce tasted like it had kombu dashi in it. The taste isn't a problem since the salmon itself has a strong flavor, but I wonder if it would overpower the taste of squid sashimi or white fish sashimi? The taste of all the side dishes is not bad. The miso soup is also light and delicious. I like this kind of unassuming miso soup, especially with fish set meals. Towards the end, there's one thing I always do. Like eating natto with rice like a roll. Itadakimasu. I wonder how the guys from the Dragon at the top of this building, who moved from Sapar, are doing. I haven't been there in a while... (By Kyonatsu Shukuu, 2019.9.28)
