2022-265th Ramen from Kujikara @ Amanohashidate Kujikara Ramen 640-41 Bunju, Miyazu City, Kyoto Prefecture Nearest station: Amanohashidate Station - 2 minutes walk Closed on Thursdays Business information not available (0772-22-2334) --------------------------------------------- TP 3.67 (161 reviews) Kyoto Prefecture 33 Miyazu City 1 --------------------------------------------- October 2022 Sunday afternoon First visit A ramen shop that serves ramen using "Kujikara soy sauce" Kujikara, a Chakuriki affiliated store, uses "Kujikara soy sauce" made from nine ingredients from Tango: Fujika soy sauce sashimi, Fukuokaya soy sauce, Fuji vinegar, Amanohashidate red wine, Tango vinegar, Kotohiki salt, dried sardines, local chicken, and Kyoto green tea. The soy sauce is also made by the owner, showing a creative desire to make interesting soy sauce. The main focus seems to be on creating unique soy sauce rather than just the ramen itself, which is quite intriguing. I arrived at 12:40 and was the 9th person in line. After paying at the entrance, I took off my shoes and climbed the stairs to the second-floor triangular tatami room where low tables were lined up. The staff member seemed to be going up and down the stairs multiple times. Can't do a half-hearted job as a part-timer. Ramen from Kujikara ¥750 Described as a "bitter-sweet, light yet rich taste, a contradiction," the rich umami of the fish and the refreshing acidity clash in the soy sauce broth, creating a complex and flavorful broth reminiscent of Takaida style. The noodles are approximately 2.5mm thick, with a high water content, medium thickness, straight noodles that are slightly firm yet soft, with a gentle wheat aroma and a transparent quality. The noodles seamlessly blend with the flavorful soup, creating a harmonious and smooth texture in the mouth. The toppings include primarily lean pork chashu, seaweed, and chopped onions. While the chashu itself is not particularly outstanding, the combination of the aftertaste and the richness of the soup is irresistible, with the onions adding a perfect accent. After finishing the meal, customers wipe the table and return their dishes, creating an efficient and unique system. It's understandable why they do it, but it's quite tiring.

A super popular restaurant in Amanohashidate. I couldn't decide between ramen or seafood bowl for lunch in this area. The ramen here has a unique soy sauce flavor. There's also a regular Chinese ramen and chicken salt ramen. Both soy sauces are jet black. I decided to try the ramen with a unique flavor by drawing lots. Of course, there was a long line, it was a Sunday after all. It's located right in the middle of a tourist spot, so the line is quite noticeable. I tried the ramen I got from drawing lots. The chashu was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The jet black soup was extremely rich. It wasn't too unique in flavor, but it was so rich that it made my mouth dry. The thick noodles were chewy and delicious! There were plenty of green onions as well. The seasoning of the chashu bowl was exquisite and delicious. *I forgot to take a picture... I love this kind of ramen! Thank you for the meal♪

A ramen shop located right near Amanohashidate. We were with our dog, so it was difficult to enter any other shop, but we decided to have lunch at this place with a terrace-like seating. I ordered the ramen with a strong flavor as described. It was indeed strong in flavor! But delicious! Maybe it had a seafood taste? The chashu and noodles were also delicious! However, it was closing on that day... Too bad. It was so good!

Today, let's go all out again! Feel free to leave comments, it will be encouraging. Located in Miyazu City, Kyoto Prefecture, famous for the Amanohashidate, one of Japan's Three Views, this restaurant is situated right in front of a public parking lot where many tourists heading to Amanohashidate pass by. The parking fee is generally around 500 to 1000 yen for one-time use. On the first floor, you can choose your preferred items from the menu at the counter, pay, and then take a seat. There are two outdoor terrace seats on the first floor and table seats on the second floor where you need to take off your shoes. Sitting on the terrace, you can enjoy the view and watch the tourists visiting Amanohashidate. I ordered the chicken salt ramen for 850 yen and chashu noodles for five people. The chashu noodles came in a bowl topped with thinly sliced chashu, similar to bacon in thickness but with a rich flavor. The toppings included seaweed, seasoned egg, and chopped green onions. The soup was strong and had a vinegar-like tang, similar to the Takao-style ramen. The broth was made from chicken bones, pork belly, and a unique soy sauce from Tango, resulting in a strong umami flavor. The chicken salt ramen had medium-thick noodles that were chewy and well-balanced with the saltiness of the broth. If you're not a fan of slightly unique soy sauce flavors, the chicken salt ramen might be a good choice. The noodles had a chewy texture and the tangy and unique flavor of the soup became more enjoyable as I continued eating. The original soy sauce made from chicken bones, pork belly, and the unique soy sauce from Tango left a lasting impression. I will definitely visit again. Thank you very much.

I stopped by for lunch during my trip. It was around 11:30 on Saturday, but I was able to get in without waiting. I was hoping to try the chicken white broth ramen, but it wasn't available until about 3 days later, so I settled for the Chinese noodles instead. It was simple but had a unique flavor with dark soy sauce. The first floor is the kitchen and you can eat on the second floor. On sunny days, you can also eat outside the shop.

This is the best-rated restaurant for lunch near Amanohashidate♪ The interior is quite small, with seating on the second floor and outside. Not suitable for large groups. You order and pay on the first floor, then wait on the second floor. I ordered Ramen (750 yen) and Chashu Don (350 yen) from the lottery. The Ramen looks good♪ It was mentioned that it has a unique taste, and yes, it does have a unique taste, haha. They use a soy sauce oil which gives it that unique flavor. The noodles are incredibly smooth and surprising! The Chashu is delicious♪ The Chashu Don is great with plenty of green onions on top! It's a good choice for lunch during Amanohashidate sightseeing! Thank you for the meal (*´ω`*)

Visited on Saturday, no wait at 19:20. Ordered at the counter, paid in advance. • Kujikara Ramen ¥750 The chashu was thin with less fat, which I personally liked. The slightly thick noodles with a strong soy sauce and tangy soup were impressive. A bowl that can only be tasted here, so worth trying when in Amanohashidate!

I was intrigued by the combination of lightness and richness in the dish that was advertised as such. It was indeed soy sauce-based, but not overwhelmingly so, with a nice depth of flavor. The char siu was thinly sliced with a good amount of meat, which I appreciated. I finished the whole bowl. The noodles were thick but not too thick, making them easy to eat.

From Amanohashidate Kujikara Ramen. It is located right next to Amanohashidate Station. On Wednesdays, they have an outpost at Chakuriki in Yosano Town. The taste is a bit unique but very delicious. This time, I had the mixed noodles.

Visited the popular "Kujikara Ramen" in Amanohashidate, Kyoto. Ordered the Kujikara Ramen for 750 yen, made with nine ingredients from Tango in a soy sauce soup called "Kyuriki". The soup seemed contradictory at first, with a slightly bitter yet rich and light taste. The appearance was of black soup with thick noodles, reminiscent of Takaida or Toyama Black, but with a hint of acidity. However, it turned out to be mild with a deep umami flavor coming through. As I continued eating, I realized it tasted like sauce yakisoba. It was a unique soup that seemed like sauce yakisoba sauce mixed with dashi, surprisingly addictive and delicious. The tender chashu and chewy thick noodles paired well, creating a mysteriously tasty soy sauce ramen. Visited on a Sunday at exactly 11:00 AM, got in easily but it quickly filled up and there was a line forming outside.

From the special lottery, I decided to try a ramen restaurant on my way back from Kasamatsu Park in Amanohashidate. Despite usually having long lines, there was no line this time, so I decided to go in. I ordered on the first floor and was directed to the second floor. I had the rich soy sauce ramen, which came with a generous amount of chashu on top. The soy sauce broth was delicious, but it was so rich that I couldn't finish it all.

I left Tokyo in the morning and headed to one of Japan's three most scenic spots, Amanohashidate. I transferred from the Shinkansen to the Hashidate Limited Express at Kyoto Station and arrived at Kyoto Tango Railway Amanohashidate Station around noon. I had lunch at Kujikara Ramen, located about a 1-2 minute walk in the direction of the post office from the station. I paid on the first floor and was asked if I preferred to sit in the tatami room on the second floor or at the outdoor table on the first floor, so I chose the outdoor table. There are two table seats under the eaves opposite the entrance of the restaurant, which can protect you from the rain. It must be nice to dine there during the pleasant seasons like spring or autumn. My wife ordered the Kujikara Ramen, and I ordered the soupless Ajitama Kuro Soba. It's like a mixed noodle dish. The name of the restaurant, "Kujikara," comes from the "Kujikara soy sauce" made here, which is based on nine seasoning ingredients scattered in Tango (Fukuya soy sauce, Seya miso, Fuji vinegar, Amanohashidate red wine, Tango Tensake, Kotohiki salt, dried sardines, local chicken, Kyoto green tea). The served Kuro Soba has plenty of bean sprouts and is not black at all, but underneath the bean sprouts and noodles, there is a black sauce made with "Kujikara soy sauce." Mix it well before eating. Although it is soy sauce-based, it feels like a sauce because various ingredients are used. The noodles are medium-thick and chewy, giving a taste and texture similar to sauce yakisoba. It is quite salty, so I think it would be nice to eat it with white rice, although I didn't order it this time. My wife had the Kujikara Ramen, which has the sauce diluted with soup, so it felt less strong in flavor and easier to eat.

During the Obon holiday, I visited Amanohashidate for the first time in my life. I was scheduled to arrive at Itami Airport at 11:00, so I searched on Tabelog for a delicious lunch option and found Kujikara Ramen. I gathered plenty of information while in the car and arrived fully prepared. Since it was just after the 11:00 opening, I entered the restaurant without waiting. The entrance was narrow and the interior was cramped. The first floor was just the kitchen, and the dining area was either the outdoor terrace or the second floor. Since it was scorching hot outside that day, I couldn't imagine eating hot ramen, so I quickly decided to go to the second floor. I took off my shoes, climbed the stairs, and found a row of tatami mat seating. I prepared my own water and soon, the famous Kujikara Ramen was brought up from below on a tray. It looked black, almost like black ramen, but when I took the first bite, it was intense! The noodles had a great chewy texture that paired perfectly with the soup. The noodles had a firm bite but were not too heavy. The chashu was incredibly tender and delicious. As I continued eating, I became addicted to the unique flavor of this ramen. The various layers of aroma and taste hidden in the soup spread gently in my mouth, and it was incredibly delicious! I finished it in no time. Initially, I was unsure, but the more I ate, the more I couldn't resist the addictive taste of this ramen. The unique flavor here was right up my alley.

It's been a long time since I visited "Kujikara" last time, about 6 years ago. At that time, I had several jobs in this area and visited this place often. There are some new menu items that weren't available back then, but I don't know when I can come back next. The default "Ajitama Kujikara Ramen" for 850 yen is exceptional. There are many ramen places calling themselves "BLACK" these days, but this one is truly special. It's not just dark and rich, it's delicious! The soup has a unique taste for ramen enthusiasts, with a depth and richness that sets it apart from others. The noodles are thick, straight, with a round cross-section, chewy and bouncy, providing a delightful texture. The thick and rich Kujikara soy sauce soup pairs perfectly with the coarse minced onions, adding a crunchy texture that is irresistible. The seasoned egg is soaked in sauce, bursting with flavor throughout. I initially thought the chashu was too thin, but then I remembered that if you order the "Chashu Ramen," you get a huge thick slice of meat. The default option comes with thinly sliced, tender chashu. You can cool off in the second-floor tatami seating area, but the outdoor terrace seating was full. It was nice to see the place bustling even on a weekday lunchtime. The owner of "Aoyama," now a representative of Hirakata, is a graduate of this place. It seems like they might be moving on to the city soon... or maybe not. ===========

It was a unique soy sauce ramen, but for me, it was a delicious ramen without any strong taste. The canned beer was also very cold and tasty. However, the seating was in a raised tatami room accessed by stairs, so it might be difficult for people with bad knees or the elderly.

I often come to Amanohashidate to stay in a cottage, but I haven't eaten at many restaurants in the area, so I did some research beforehand and decided to dine here. It was Sunday lunchtime, but we were seated without having to wait. It took about 15 minutes for the ramen to arrive. The garlic flavor was strong, giving more of a peppery impression than traditional ramen. It seemed like a ramen with a strong flavor profile that may not appeal to everyone. The soft-boiled egg was delicious.

In a region with few restaurants, I came across a highly rated ramen shop that caught my interest. I decided to order their soy sauce ramen, which is known for its strong flavor. I was seated at an open terrace and enjoyed the cool evening breeze. When the ramen arrived, I found it to be delicious with its strong flavor. The thick noodles reminded me of Yokohama-style ramen. I devoured it quickly because it was so tasty. It was really delicious!

Located right next to JR Kyoto Tango Railway Amanohashidate Station, this restaurant is situated in a corner where souvenir shops line up. The surrounding area is filled with various dining options, giving off a touristy vibe. However, this place is known for serving authentic and unique ramen dishes. Upon entering the restaurant, you are required to pay and place your order first. During my visit on a weekday afternoon, the owner was the only one taking orders and cooking. You can choose to sit at the terrace seats outside or the tatami room on the second floor. Self-service water is available. I decided to try the signature "Kujikara Ramen" with extra chashu and noodles, along with a set rice bowl. The ramen is made with a secret soy sauce called "Kujikara soy sauce," which is described as the theme of "contradiction in jet black" on their official website. The flavor was indeed complex, with a deep soy sauce taste that was hard to pinpoint. The chewy noodles and thick chashu slices make for a unique ramen experience. It may seem unconventional, but it is definitely worth trying. The umami impact is one of the best I have ever had. I recommend trying it as a meal during your travels.

The ramen from the lottery costs 700 yen, and the black soba costs 600 yen. The ramen from the lottery has a unique flavor that you can only taste here. The soup is made with a special soy sauce that gives it a slightly bitter but light taste, like celery. The noodles are smooth and have a good texture. The black soba is a simple mixed soba with a strong soy sauce flavor that packs a punch. The onion adds a nice touch to it. The noodles are smooth and chewy. The second-floor seating is tatami-style, so you have to take off your shoes, but there is also a terrace seating option for those who prefer to keep their shoes on.

For dinner during my trip. Order and pay on the first floor, then head up to the second floor tatami room to relax. I got the Kuji Ramen for 700 yen. It had a rich soy sauce-colored soup with a base of burnt soy sauce. I could taste hints of pepper, vinegar, dried fish, and a fruity sweetness. Apparently, it had red wine from Amanohashidate in it, which was quite unique. The overall flavor had depth to it. There were lots of finely chopped onions in the soup, which added a refreshing touch to the rich broth. The noodles were slightly thick and chewy, absorbing the soup well. The thinly sliced pork chashu melted in my mouth, bursting with flavor. You could really taste the dedication to soy sauce in this delicious ramen!

I had lunch in Kyoto on the Japan Sea side, which seemed to be the most popular, so I decided to try it out. It was my first time at Amanohashidate. We left Kyoto in the morning and arrived here just after noon, so it was perfect timing for sightseeing at Amanohashidate! We entered, placed our order and paid. We waited at our table and our food was brought to us. The soy sauce flavor was a bit unique and had a distinctive taste, making it an interesting ramen experience!
