After four years, Father Yamashita's Bible class resumed at Gifu Hall at Sophia University, and after four years, I went to BECK'S before the class. I remembered my cousin's advice from the last time, which was to leave the house 15 minutes early when the class resumes, as it was a cold day at the end of November last time and I had to take a taxi to the station where the express train to Shinjuku stops. Time perception is strange, isn't it? BECK'S was exactly the same as before, but it was a completely different season. The photo of lemonade was refreshing! I ordered a cafe latte (¥350) and sat at the counter on the second floor where you can see Shinjuku Street. The second floor has windows on both sides, with a view of Shinjuku Street from the counter side and Atre Yotsuya, which is built on the outer moat of Edo Castle, from the other side. It had been four years since I had a cafe latte, but I almost wanted to ask for a stronger coffee flavor because it tasted more like hot milk than coffee. The receipt showed that BECK'S is operated by JR East Cross Station Co., Ltd., and the company's address is in Yotsuya Ichome, so this BECK'S is located at Yotsuya Station, Kojimachi Exit. Maybe the coffee was more like hot milk last time too, but it was cold, so I needed something to warm me up first. This type of coffee shop relies on location first and foremost, and the taste and menu come later. It's always 95% full! The interior was also full at 5:30 pm on this day, both on the first and second floors!

As expected from the JR Group, the restaurant was great. The second-floor seats had a nice view, with bright sunlight streaming in. It was very convenient with power outlets and WiFi available. The jasmine tea on the menu was perfect for the hot summer weather.

Located on the Sophia University side of Yotsuya Station. It's frustrating that you can't access it directly from Atre. You have to go out to the 1st floor first. This area seems to have fewer cafes where you can relax and smoke, probably because there are many prestigious schools like Futaba nearby. Fortunately, there is a smoking area for up to 4 people where you can smoke regular cigarettes. They also offer paninis and other drinks. There are counter tables with outlets for solo customers. All seating is on the 2nd floor.

Near the station, with comfortable chairs and a cafe that is easy to use, this is a place where you can relax. Waiting here for a while before a meeting or conference, feeling the atmosphere of Sophia University, is a good thing, isn't it? #BecksCoffee #SophiaUniversity #YotsuyaStation #Yotsuya #GoodmanQuest

Yotsuya Station is located in a low-lying area, as it is built on the site of the outer moat of Edo Castle. Between JR Yotsuya Station and Marunouchi Line Yotsuya Station runs Shinjuku Street from east to west, with the area on the Kojimachi side to the east being higher. The difference in elevation is due to the defensive considerations between the outer and inner sides of the castle moat. The road may appear to have a gentle slope from the street, but in reality, the left side of the JR Yotsuya exit is a gentle slope downwards, while the right side of the Kojimachi exit has a steep staircase with escalators. This review discusses the experience of visiting a specific food establishment within the station and the quality of the food and service provided.

- Dark Roast Coffee (M) - 340 yen (tax included)
Looking for a cafe to have some tea, but around the station there were places with smoking or chain stores. Went to the Starbucks in Atre, but there were no seats available. My companion didn't want cake, so we ended up at this place near Yotsuya Station by process of elimination. This chain store located in a station operated by JR was, in my memory, a hamburger joint, but now it seems like paninis, curry, and sweets are the main menu items. It's different now. The bright second floor seating area was about 70% full with businessmen and students. It had a relaxed atmosphere without the hustle and bustle of being right above the station. The coffee, despite being a dark roast, was a bit weak in flavor. I got the medium size, but maybe the small would have been enough. [Recommended for solo diners] 1* (optimal) 2 (for those used to it) 3 (depending on the situation) 4 (impossible) This time we were two people. There weren't many solo diners, maybe due to the time. No worries at all about being at a chain cafe.

I had some time to spare before heading to the internal medicine clinic I usually visit on Saturdays. I stopped by here at Yotsuya Station because I had a little time. I ordered the morning set, but the boiled egg was served already peeled. It was surprising at first, but I thought it was convenient not having to peel the shell. Thank you for the meal.

I took a break at a cafe before a meeting. It is very convenient as it is directly connected to Yotsuya Station. This time, I ordered a hot cocoa size M. It was very delicious! It had a comforting taste. There was plenty of whipped cream too! I drank it all up in no time...

A tired wife juggling part-time work and parenting, with a child obsessed with games and idols. Coming home exhausted with no place to relax. Work is also busy. She just wants a little break. That's where Beck's comes in - with its convenient location near the station, reasonable prices, and great views, it's the perfect spot for a breather on the commute between home and work. Many salarymen in Tokyo find solace in Beck's, a coffee shop operated by JR East Japan Crossing. It's a subsidiary of the giant JR East Japan, managing commercial operations including food services. It's open early, making it a soothing spot for early risers. The taste is average. Payment is by transportation IC card or cash only.

It's hard to believe that another year has passed and we are now entering Advent (the four weeks leading up to Christmas on the Catholic calendar). On the day Pope Francis returned to Rome, I stopped by the Biblia Class at Sophia University's Gibu Hall for about 15 minutes. The hall was packed with students studying on their PCs on both the first and second floors. I took a photo of the Pope's smiling face on the notice board in front of the Ignatius Church and saved it for my next study session, perhaps over a Cafe Latte for ¥300. However, the next session and even the guest dinner never happened over the past year. Last Christmas, I attended the Mass at Takanawa Church as usual, but by March, all the Catholic pilgrimages organized by the former sister who used to host the Bible Class were canceled due to the storm of COVID-19. She even wrote a book called 'Guided by God's Hand' during the year when she had no work at all. The Sunday Masses were also streamed online, and I stopped going to church. This Christmas Eve, I had an early dinner planned at Beatrice in Ebisu at 6 pm, and we had the terrace all to ourselves, so we streamed the Christmas Mass from Ignatius Church at 7 pm. This reminded me of BECK'S, which I had forgotten about. With no Bible Class to attend and no reason to go to Yotsuya, I hope that when the classes resume, I can always stop by BECK'S 15 minutes early and savor the joy of being able to do the usual things again!

I usually only use this place for drinks and niche work, but this time I used it for lunch. I had a spicy pork curry, which was quick and satisfying. It was a new option for me in terms of using a cafe stand for lunch. I will continue to use it in the future.

During a break in the afternoon work, I chose to come here at Yotsuya Station for some work. It's a normal cafe without any special features. The location is great as it's right by the station, so no complaints there.

Today, I had a meal in preparation for the seminar from 18:00. Lately, I have been obsessed with hot sandwiches at home, so I decided to order one. I like it when the bread has a crispy brown color, but this one was not baked that deeply. It still had a chewy texture, so it felt more like a light toasted sandwich. I had a light meal and now I am ready for the seminar ahead.

JR Yotsuya Station, Kojimachi Exit. Turn right after passing through the ticket gate and go up the stairs. The store is immediately on your right. It opens early in the morning and is popular among those who enjoy morning meals. You can relax with a cigarette and coffee while enjoying the outside view, making it a fulfilling way to start your day.

I had a client near Yotsuya Station, so I would arrive a little early each time and have a smoke at BECK's before heading to the meeting. The breakfast was great, and I especially liked their scrambled eggs. Even though I mostly went during the day, I would take my time enjoying a sweet iced coffee.

The personal space is well-defined, not too noisy, and clean, which is nice. Although the time is short, the work atmosphere is good. Perhaps it's because it's Sunday, so I will try coming on a weekday next time. It seems that the movements of Sophia University students and weekday office workers may affect the atmosphere.

After leaving the reception hall, I stumbled upon a place in front of Yotsuya Station where I decided to have a late lunch. I bought my meal on the first floor and then sat on the second floor with a nice view. I had a BLT sandwich set and a soup set. The coffee was delicious as expected, and the food was also very tasty. I was able to enjoy a leisurely time at this location during this time. Highly recommended.
