Today's lunch was at an izakaya near Shijo Horikawa. It seems to be a popular izakaya with a traditional Japanese atmosphere where you can enjoy small dishes and elaborate Japanese cuisine. They also offer lunch during the day. I arrived just before noon to avoid items being sold out. I had the daily lunch set which included a main dish of chicken and onion simmered in egg, mixed rice with squid, mapo tofu, miso soup, and a side dish. The mapo tofu was flavorful with a spicy minced meat topping. The mixed rice with squid was delicious with a nice texture and flavor. The chicken and onion simmered in egg was served in a hot pot and tasted great with the rich broth. It's nice to be able to enjoy such quality lunch at a reasonable price. It's no wonder this place is popular.

I have visited the traditional Japanese restaurant and izakaya "Kisaragi" located on Shijo Horikawa several times for lunch, but there have been times when they were not open even on weekdays. Finally, I was able to visit. The chef handles everything alone in the restaurant. You have to serve yourself tea. Since the chef cannot take orders when he is in the kitchen, regular customers place their orders as soon as they see him coming out. Almost 100% of the regular customers order the daily special. There is counter seating and tatami seating in the back, and it can be daunting to go alone. The set meal includes two small side dishes, a main dish, rice, and miso soup. There was even an option for extra large rice servings. All of this for only 900 yen is a steal. Each dish is carefully prepared, true to the traditional izakaya style. With the way things are, it seems like they might close without notice, so it's best to go right after they open.

We gathered with familiar members such as ceramic artists Watabe Akihiko, Suehiro Manabu, Terada Teppei, Nakamura Kazuki, and N-san, a drinking companion of Myguinomi, in Kyoto where Robert Yellin is located! It was supposed to be a historic drinking party about to begin. We had a great time enjoying delicious food, tasty sake, and skilled drinking. Thanks to the cheerful restaurant owner, we were able to live stream the event. Thank you for the delicious feast. Myguinomi's recommendation.

Today I visited the company's Kyoto office. For lunch, my colleagues recommended a delicious restaurant nearby. The restaurant had counter seats and tatami seating, with only one group of customers at 11:30. I ordered the braised pork belly set meal for 900 yen (tax included). The braised pork belly was exceptionally delicious, and the quality of the set meal, including the rice, was high. My companion had the grilled mackerel with salt set meal and said it was delicious. With good cost performance, we will definitely be back.

The main oden was delicious as usual, but the other dishes were a bit more luxurious. One of the side dishes had two pieces of yellowtail, while the other side dish was full of root vegetables. The rice was eel rice. The miso soup had different ingredients than usual. It seemed like they had cleverly arranged the menu by changing the ingredients. Today's special: Oden-style stew.

It's been almost 3 months since I last had the pork belly simmered set meal. I was tempted by the daily special, chicken wings with daikon radish, which used to be on the lunch menu, but I chose this instead. The chicken wings are delicious, but a bit of a hassle to eat, so I don't usually choose them. The simmered pork belly and sauce were rich and tasty. The rice was cooked with octopus. For lunch on Curry Day, I had curry udon because I still haven't fully recovered from my cold. Underneath the green onions, a half-cooked egg is hidden. The spiciness of the curry is mild. The broth is flavorful and has a good consistency, making it easy to drink. The portion is generous and it warms you up. The udon has a decent amount of toppings as well. Curry udon.

My throat condition hasn't improved, so I decided to have udon for lunch. There are no udon specialty shops within walking distance for my lunch break, so I'm happy that there is a regular udon menu here. The grated yam mixed with the broth and udon is delicious. Pork and grated yam udon.

This is my first time trying the salt-grilled Pacific saury at this restaurant. Even with the same menu, each restaurant has its own unique touch. The grilled fish has a beautiful color and the flesh is tender, especially delicious with grated daikon radish. They have also added new items to the menu during the recent lunch menu renewal, so there are still more things to look forward to. Today's special set meal: Salt-grilled Pacific saury.

I tried to go to a restaurant but it was closed, so I came here instead. It's my second time having the lunch set in about 2 months, but the side dishes and rice have changed, so I didn't get bored at all. However, I am looking forward to the autumn menu.
