I parked in the coin parking behind the store without realizing it, but it turned out to be the store's parking lot! It was full, but I only had to wait for about 10 minutes to get in. The counter only had seating for 4 people, with plenty of space between tables, making it a relaxed dining experience. Finally got to try the "tanpopo" dish! It was lighter than it looked, and I wished I had added more green onions.

The ramen with a lot of spicy seasoning was really delicious and to my liking! The combination of richness and spiciness is the best flavor. It was quite crowded even on weekdays, which I think is a sign of its popularity. It might be better to visit outside of lunch hours. I will definitely come back again.

The combination of rich broth, noodles, and soup is fantastic, outstanding, and delicious. I definitely want to go back again. Thank you for the meal. I am grateful for all the ingredients in this world. I am calling for delicious food, the more you eat, the more powerful you become.

There was a visit to Kyoto on Sunday around 4 o'clock. It's great because many shops are closed at this time. There was a steady flow of customers coming in and out, so there was no long wait. The shop seems to be quite prosperous. They mainly serve noodle dishes, with no gyoza. It's a strong-style shop with an unknown fried rice. There is a signature of Seibu Lions' Hasegawa on the wall, a promising young player. I ordered a large spicy ramen without chili peppers and a pork bowl for 1,150 yen, and a large tsukemen for 950 yen, totaling 2,100 yen. The staff were friendly, and the service was smooth, leaving a good impression. The ramen was surprisingly refreshing but had depth of flavor. The noodles were thin and tended to stretch, so I personally prefer them firmer. The tsukemen had a rich seafood soup with medium-thick noodles. Be careful as the soup tends to splash and get on your clothes. The pork bowl was the best, with high-quality and delicious pork. My wife, who said she would only have a bite, ended up finishing it all. It was delicious. I was thinking of trying the pork ramen next time, but my stomach didn't feel well at night. The soup was richer and greasier than I expected, which was disappointing. The taste itself was delicious, so it's a great place for those with a strong stomach. Both the soup and the pork were delicious, so I really wanted to try the pork ramen. It must be incredibly satisfying. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Ramen Regular for 800 yen. Visited on a weekday (Wednesday) around 11:40 am. There were 3 people waiting outside, and it took about 15 minutes to get inside. The restaurant has 4 counter seats and 3 tables. I sat at the counter and ordered the Ramen Regular. Other customers were ordering Chashu Ramen with fried rice as a set. The ramen arrived in about 5 minutes! It was topped with lots of spicy seasoning, beautiful green onions in the middle, and plenty of pork fat on top! There was also some chili oil floating on the surface. It looked very spicy, but when I tasted the soup, it wasn't that spicy. In fact, it was delicious! The straight noodles were easy to slurp, and the green onions and pork fat added extra flavor to the soup. The best part was the chashu, which was incredibly tasty! The tender pork belly had a rich flavor. This was definitely the right choice to order the Chashu Ramen! The chashu was so delicious that I felt like I could eat it endlessly. The restaurant seemed popular with locals, and I can understand why it has been in business for so long. Thank you for the meal!

I visited "Tanpopo" in Kyoto City, Kita-ku for the first time during off-peak lunch hours, so there was a short line. It's located close to Bukkyo University. This old-fashioned soy sauce ramen with a gentle chicken broth base has been around since 1947. I ordered the pork shabu ramen and fried rice. The soup is mild with a layer of chili peppers on top, which gives it a unique appearance. It's not actually spicy, so you don't need extra pepper. The perfect amount of spice complements the mellow soup. Underneath the green onions, there's plenty of pork shabu hidden. I also ordered fried rice for its presentation, but the pork shabu could be a great side dish for the rice. Despite the twists and turns over the years, the soup has remained consistent and cutting-edge, leaving me wanting to come back for more. Isn't that amazing? I wish I had tried the rumored melt-in-your-mouth chashu. Next time for sure. I had been curious about Tanpopo for a while, so I finally visited the restaurant for the first time. When I arrived, there was already a line of customers waiting for the store to open. I waited in line and was seated at the counter just in time for the first round. I ordered the large ramen and fried rice set. The ramen and fried rice arrived, and the ramen was spicy. Despite its red color, it wasn't too spicy and had a delicious tonkotsu flavor. The fried rice was also tasty. I finished everything and it was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

This is a ramen that falls under the so-called "mazemen" category, but it has a unique personality. As you can see, it is covered with chili peppers, but it is not as spicy as it looks. It is a ramen that can be enjoyed if you can eat kimchi. The chashu is half lean and half fatty, and it is pleasantly tender with a well-seasoned flavor, making it a perfect match with white rice! Chashu ramen and rice are recommended! *The photo shows chashu ramen.

I visited this place nearby and it was close to 2pm, but there were a lot of students. It's a super popular spot. I ordered ramen and fried rice, and when I tried it, it was exactly the taste I love. I will definitely come back again. It was so delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I arrived at the store at 11:26, 4 minutes before opening! I was the first one there! By the time they opened, there were 5 more people behind me. The ramen looked spicy and red, but it was surprisingly mild with a refreshing taste of chili peppers! When I tried it, it was peaceful and delicious! The noodles were like spicy noodles from Miyazaki, but they went really well with the rich Kyoto-style soup! Inside, there were melt-in-your-mouth chashu pork and flavorful bamboo shoots. I wish I had a bit more room in my stomach to try the fried rice set, but I settled for the regular ramen. It was a truly happy and satisfying meal! Thank you for the delicious food!

A long-established ramen shop located near a Buddhist university, which I had been curious about for a while and finally visited. I tried the Pork Shabu Ramen (regular) for 1000 yen and a side of rice (medium) for 150 yen. The ramen had a chicken broth soy sauce base with plenty of pork belly and a generous amount of green onions. Despite its appearance, it had a surprisingly light flavor and was quite filling.

A long-established restaurant loved by locals in Kyoto. It's near Bukkyo University, but students from Ritsumeikan, Kyoto Sangyo, Kyoto Prefectural, and Kyoto Institute of Technology also love it. The ramen has a hint of spiciness, but it's not overpowering, and pairs well with the rich soy sauce tonkotsu broth. The noodles are soft and go well with the flavorful soup. The chashu is incredibly tender and rich, perfect for those who love fatty meat. The fried rice is also delicious, so I recommend trying it. They allow outside food, so it's convenient for students who bring their own lunch.

After entering the restaurant, I looked at the menu and ordered the fried rice set. The ramen looked very spicy with red chili pepper covering the surface of the soup, but it was not as spicy as it appeared. You could actually taste the Kyoto-style backfat soy sauce, and it paired perfectly with the thin noodles! Additionally, the side menu fried rice was cooked to perfection, nice and fluffy!

The interior of the shop feels like a typical local ramen shop, with tatami seating and a counter. The food took a bit long to come out, but the ramen was delicious with a spicy kick! The fried rice was also tasty! I would like to go back again for the flavors.

"Ramen and fried rice set" Long time no see. I love it. I missed you. Still as cute as ever. The smell of chili pepper before even digging in. I can't stop feeling excited. And the unchanged appearance and taste. A bite brings back memories. The soft noodles are also amazing. Why is this soup so addictive? A devil that captivates people of all ages. And the simple fried rice as always. It really goes well with the soup. A bowl that leaves a lasting impression on everyone's mind. A great restaurant. I really love it. The best. Love it.

When it comes to ramen in Kyoto, three restaurants stand out: Shinpukusai-kan, Daiichi Asahi, and Tanpopo. These three could be considered the three musketeers of Kyoto ramen. The prices are reasonable, and the standout feature of this ramen is the chili powder spread on top. It's not too spicy, but the flavor of the chili comes through nicely and is delicious. The broth is rich with pork fat, giving it a tonkotsu base that is expected to be thick and hearty, but it's actually more on the lighter side, making it suitable for those who prefer a lighter taste (though personally, I prefer heavier broths). The chashu is so popular that it often sells out for takeout, so I recommend getting extra chashu to take home.

Tampopo (Kitaoji) Chashu Ramen, large size (1.5 servings) with extra pork bowl set. Lots of pork fat, lots of chili peppers, lots of green onions. The restaurant has been around for about 20 years, not since 1947 as stated online. They welcome bento boxes and wives' bentos brought in from outside. The model for the movie Tampopo is not here, but at Genen (Shijo Omiya, now closed). At 1:25 PM, there was a wait for 4 people.

I spent four years in Kyoto during my university days. I had some free time during a business trip, so I decided to visit a nostalgic restaurant. I used to live near this place and frequented it often. The sight of the lunchtime queue is just like it was 20 years ago. I ordered ramen with extra green onions. The volume of green onions that came out was also nostalgic. Despite its spicy appearance, it wasn't actually that spicy, which was a nostalgic surprise. The fact that this restaurant hasn't changed in over 20 years is wonderful. I definitely want to go back again.

There were about 8 people lined up before the store opened. Despite their intense appearance, the ramen was surprisingly light, as advertised. The visual presentation is very appetizing. The level of spiciness was just right and it was delicious. The chashu was tender and the noodles were on the softer side. I ordered the mini chashu bowl set, and the chashu bowl was also generous in portion and the chashu was delicious. There was a sign saying that you can bring your own bento. Just a note, starting from April 1st, the prices have increased by 100 yen based on the information from Tabelog (although all the information on there seems outdated). The mini chashu bowl set is now 1050 yen instead of 950 yen.
