Business trip in Kyoto~♫ Finished the work for the day and headed to "Ramen Jiro Kyoto Store." Lately, whenever I come to Kyoto, visiting Kyoto Jiro has become a routine for me (laughs). This is my 9th review on Tabelog, but I must have visited around 15 times already. Took the Keihan Electric Railway from Demachiyanagi Station to Eizan Electric Railway, arrived at Ichijoji Station~('∇')/ Crossed the railroad crossing from the station and arrived in just 30 seconds! Jiro is in a great location near the station. Arrived 30 minutes before the evening opening at 17:30, and there was already one person waiting. Quickly got in line as the second person! As usual, the entrance corridor is like a closed space with a width of about 1 meter and a depth of 15 meters, making me feel a bit uncomfortable as someone with a slight fear of enclosed spaces... I've gotten a bit used to it recently, but... (^^;) Endured it and right at 17:30 sharp, they opened! There were 7 people waiting at that time. Maybe because it was a weekday, the line was peaceful~ (^^) People entered the store in order from the back, and purchased a meal ticket from the ticket machine. The menu includes: "Regular Ramen" 280g, "Large Ramen" 400g, "Half Ramen (1 slice of pork)" 180g. All weights are before boiling. Additionally, there are original menu items at the Kyoto store, such as "Fat Rice" with extra lard for 100 yen, and Kyoto's unique "Kujyo Negi" for 100 yen. Toppings include "Spiciness" for 50 yen, "Extra Pork" for 200 yen, "Raw Egg" for 50 yen, and more. ● Regular Ramen 850 yen 2 slices of pork ● Kujyo Negi 100 yen Prepared cold water and a ladle at the water server and took a seat. On the table, there were soy sauce, chili pepper, pepper, and coarse ground pepper. There were also tissues at the entrance. And then, it was time to order – "Vegetables, Garlic, Fat" Ordered with extra vegetables after a long time♪ Jiro's appearance is always fascinating~('∇')/ A generous amount of chopped garlic, two large slices of pork, and a pile of bean sprouts topped with solid lard that's melting~ Now, time to eat! Put soy sauce dressing from the table on the hot bean sprouts, mix with the sweet lard dressing, and eat heartily~♪ Then, mix in the garlic, use the pork as a side dish, and eat heartily! The sweet vegetables with no unpleasant smell have a great crunchy texture. When the noodles started to show, it was time for the "heaven and earth switch"~♪ The noodles are Jiro's standard extra thick, flat noodles. They have a chewy texture with a low water content that's slightly fragrant. The soup that day was slightly emulsified! The balance between pork broth and Jiro's special soy sauce was excellent. Added the Kujyo Negi halfway through as I had been waiting for it!(*'∇')/ The perfect mix with the soup brought out the unique bitterness and umami of the negi even more! I ended up drinking more than half of the soup without realizing it (^^ゞ Oh, it was an amazing Jiro experience! The only direct Jiro in western Japan~ A precious find (*'∇')/ I'll be back again~(^_^)

"Visited 'Ramen Jiro Kyoto Store' with 4 childhood friends 😊 Ordered 'Regular Ramen NsYA with extra Kujyo Negi'. The huge chunks of pork fat were like jewels and tasted great on their own, as well as with the soft vegetables. We shared a bowl of pork that was about half the size of the regular bowl. Finished off by adding Kujyo Negi for a refreshing flavor change and enjoyed it all in one go. Very satisfying and delicious experience 😊 - Location: 4 Satonoma, Ichijoji-dera, Sakyo-ku, Kyoto 606-8117 Right in front of Eizan Electric Railway Eizan Main Line 'Ichijoji Station', 0 minutes on foot, 36 meters from Ichijoji Station - Business Hours: [Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri] 11:00-14:00, 18:00-21:30 [Sat] 11:00-14:30, 17:30-21:30 [Sun] 11:00-14:30, 17:30-20:30 - Closed: Wednesday - Order: Regular Ramen 950 yen + Kujyo Negi 50 yen = 1000 yen #Ramen #Noodles #ChineseNoodles #KansaiRamen #KansaiGourmet #KansaiLunch #KyotoRamen #KyotoGourmet #KyotoLunch #KyotoCityRamen #KyotoCityGourmet #KyotoCityLunch #SakyoRamen #SakyoGourmet #SakyoLunch #Ichijoji #NoodleLover #RamenLover #RamenEnthusiast #RamenJiro #RamenJiroKyoto #RamenJiroKyotoStore #IchijojiGourmet #IchijojiRamen #JiroStyleRamen #InspiredByJiro #KansaiJiroStyleRamen #KyotoJiroStyleRamen #KyotoJiro"

Ramen Jiro Kyoto Store Ramen (regular) + raw egg + Kujo green onion + spicy Finally visited the Kyoto store! I went during a less crowded time on a weekday lunch, so I was able to sit right away. I ordered the ramen with vegetables, garlic, and extra pork fat! The ramen was very filling and delicious. First, I tried the vegetables with the pork fat, and it was amazing! Then I moved on to the noodles, which had a great texture and flavor. The pork was rich and flavorful, making the noodles even more enjoyable. The addition of raw egg and Kyoto's famous Kujo green onion provided extra flavor options, keeping the meal interesting. The spiciness added a nice kick as I ate, making each bite more exciting. It was a fantastic lunch experience. I hope to try their limited edition ramen next time. #ramenlover #ramenaddict #ramenstagram #RamenJiroKyotoStore #Kyoto #KyotoPrefecture #Ichijoji #IchijojiRamen #IchijojiStation #rameninstagrammer #connectwithramenlovers #noodles #ラースタ #thankyou

Jiro Kyoto branch offers a unique ramen with firm, low-hydration noodles that are thinner compared to other Jiro branches. The wheat flavor is intense and delicious. The bowl includes about 180g of pork, probably at an 80% cost ratio. The soy sauce has a sharp taste yet is also creamy, reminiscent of the deliciousness of Jimbocho. It is the only Jiro-style ramen in Kansai. To put it simply, it was amazing. I had the Memo Ramen for 950 yen, added 50 yen for Kujo Negi, 50 yen for a raw egg, and a little garlic.

Hello, I'm Tommy. This time, I had the Ramen (regular size) with extra Kujyo Negi topping at Ramen Jiro Kyoto branch for a total of 1000 yen. When it arrived, I was overwhelmed by the size of the chashu. The chashu was delicious, but it had too much fat for my liking, so it was a bit heavy for me. The soup was slightly lighter compared to other Ramen Jiro branches. Many Ramen Jiro shops have quite salty soup, so I thought this kind of seasoning was good. The noodles were cooked slightly firm, providing a good chewiness (apparently boiled before 270g). The crunchy texture of the negi topping added a nice change in flavor. Overall, it was delicious as expected from an original branch. I would like to stop by again when I come to Kyoto.

Ramen Jiro Kyoto Store. This is the famous Ramen Jiro's store in Kyoto. I've been to Jiro-inspired stores before, but this is my first time at a direct branch. It seems like Jiro is only in Kansai here. I was a bit worried about the impression because if the staff were unfriendly, what would I do, etc. I ordered the regular ramen (with less noodles), a raw egg, and Kujyo green onions as toppings. Even with less noodles, the portion is much bigger than regular ramen. The chashu had a lot of fat which was a bit tough, but the soup was just right, not too strong or too weak, and I liked the noodles. Overall, it was tastier than I had expected. I didn't feel addicted to it, but it was definitely good! When I asked if they could put less garlic, they responded a bit sharply with "I'll ask you later", but surprisingly, I was able to leave the store peacefully. Ramen (regular) 950 yen, raw egg 50 yen, Kujyo green onions 50 yen.

The interior and exterior of the restaurant are not particularly clean, but it somehow increases one's appetite. It had been about half a year since I last visited Jiro, and I had been wanting to try the Kyoto branch. Unfortunately, due to Obon, they only had regular soup ramen available, so I ordered the regular ramen with garlic, vegetables, and extra oil. I was surprised by the generous amount of chashu. I personally enjoyed the taste more than other shops. The volume of meat provided was impressive and made me feel like I was really indulging in a meaty dish.

This was my first time trying tsukemen. I ordered it with garlic. First, I tried the noodles alone and they had a nice wheat aroma. It was my first time trying just the noodles at a ramen shop. The pork had a good balance of fat and lean meat. The soup wasn't too salty, similar to ramen, but as I ate more, I noticed a hint of yuzu which added a citrusy acidity that made it delicious until the end.

I ordered a small ramen with extra vegetables, but according to an acquaintance who is a regular customer, the amount of noodles and vegetables was overall less today. I am a big eater, so I think they underestimated me because I am a woman and reduced the portion. I actually ordered a large size out of curiosity, and it seems that many people end up leaving some, so it may be inevitable, but I was a little disappointed. The taste was delicious. There were two slices of meat with a lot of fat, making it very voluminous. I visited around 1:00 p.m. on a holiday and waited in line for about 45 minutes.

I wanted to go light on the vegetables, but the woman next to me ordered the normal amount of vegetables, so I felt embarrassed and ended up ordering the same amount of garlic as her. Well, even if I had asked for fewer vegetables, it wouldn't have made much of a difference. It's like, are you really going light on the vegetables? The taste was really good, with tender and flavorful pork. I felt that it was a bit bland last time, but this time it was really good.

I visited during lunchtime on a holiday and surprisingly didn't have to wait much to get in. The Jiro ramen here is served quickly, which is great. I liked that you can choose the amount of toppings when ordering your meal ticket. They even had a half-size option, which is good for trying out Jiro ramen. I accidentally pushed the button for regular size (twice the amount of a normal shop) without realizing it, so I ended up going with less vegetables and garlic. It had been a while since I had Jiro ramen since moving to Kanto, and the taste, which seems bad for your health, is what makes Jiro ramen unique. It seemed like the flavor was slightly lighter, maybe to suit the Kansai region, but it was still quite good. I realized that I still have what it takes to enjoy Jiro ramen. Just remember that Jiro ramen is all about adjusting the taste with the vegetables while mixing in the noodles, so adjust the noodle amount accordingly.

The 40th stop on my journey to visit all the Direct Jiro ramen shops is Kyoto Jiro. Only Sendai, Sapporo, Aizu Wakamatsu, and Niigata are left to go, all of which are quite far away. It's a bit of a challenge, but I can't wait to conquer all the shops. Today, despite being worried about the Gion Festival, the area around Ichijoji Station and Demachiyanagi felt like a normal day. At 11:05, there were 4 people waiting ahead of me. The shop is right in front of Ichijoji Station with a white sign, which is different from the usual yellow Direct Jiro signs. The shop entrance is in a narrow alley next to the exit. Inside, it can accommodate up to 6 people waiting, but it was quite cramped. While waiting, you can purchase your meal ticket. Today, there were many first-timers at Direct Jiro, probably due to it being the last day of a 3-day weekend. The shop had a quiet atmosphere with two male staff members, but it didn't feel very clean due to the tight space. The operation was a bit slow, and people ate slowly, so the turnover was also slow. It took about 35 minutes to be seated. Today, I played it safe and ordered a small ramen for 950 yen. The default price is quite high. There were Kyoto-style Kujo green onions and rare pork rice toppings available. Water is self-serve with ladles and tissues provided. Condiments include soy sauce, chili peppers, pepper, and chili oil. I was seated at 11:41 and served at 11:50. The small ramen I ordered had mostly bean sprouts, which were slightly crunchy and not seasoned, but the pork fat made them edible as they were. The pork fat had a hint of pork backfat, adding a subtle flavor that paired well with the vegetables. It was a very easy-to-eat pork fat salad. The amount of vegetables was a bit on the low side. The soup had a slight emulsification, with a strong pork broth flavor and a well-balanced seasoning. The sweetness was mild, and the acidity was quite noticeable, but the strong pork flavor created a good balance. The noodles were flat and slightly thin, with a soft and chewy texture. The acidity in the seasoning soaked in well, making the noodles easy to slurp up. The portion felt like around 280g before cooking. For those accustomed to Direct Jiro, it might feel slightly lacking. There were two large pieces of pork, thick and slightly chewy but also soft and easy to eat. They were slightly salty, but the pork flavor was enjoyable. There was a generous amount of garlic, adding spiciness and aroma that paired well with the noodles. With condiments like chili oil, there was a variety of flavors to enjoy without getting bored. Overall, the portion was not that large, so I finished it quickly and left feeling satisfied. It was above average in taste, but not addictive enough to make me want to come back specifically for it. Also, it's a bit pricey for a Direct Jiro shop. Thank you for the meal!

Holiday, arrived at 11:07 am, 5 people waiting inside the store. There is an entrance at the back of a narrow aisle parallel to the store, and the exit is separate. The waiting time inside is 4-6 people, and you have to wait outside the store until you are called because you can't see the inside from outside. Arrived at 11:20 am, purchased a meal ticket. Ordered the regular size ramen for 950 yen with 280g of noodles. There are 11 seats at the counter. Sat down at 11:42 am, and 8 minutes later, the order was ready. This time, I ordered "Yasai Ninniku Abura". The soup was slightly on the salty side. It was easy to eat with a mild acidity. The noodles were chewy and easy to eat as well. The thick-cut chashu was tender and flavorful. This is the third Jiro-style ramen shop I've been to, and it was the most easy to eat and simply delicious. There wasn't much of the typical Jiro-style intense atmosphere in the store, and it seemed like many customers were eating without worrying about time.

On Saturday evening, I lined up alone. I ordered a small ramen with less noodles, with garlic and fewer vegetables. Even though I asked for fewer vegetables, there seemed to be quite a lot. The two slices of pork differed in size, with the smaller one being fattier and the larger one being leaner. I enjoyed the contrast. This time, the flavor was quite mild. However, I finished it without adding any additional seasoning, and it was delicious. I felt full after eating only half, so I might opt for a half portion next time. I guess it's because of my age.

Jiro-style dipping noodles for the first time this summer, at Paul! Ramen Jiro Kyoto (Ichijoji) Chige dipping noodles with extra pork #10:13 for lunch. Around 10 people in line for the afternoon shift. It's been 9 months since I last had Jiro-style dipping noodles and 3 months since I last had Jiro-style ramen. Added raw egg, Kujo green onions, ginger, and spicy seasoning. Skipped the garlic. Topped with self-serve toppings like chili oil, black pepper, and Karame one spice. Today marks the debut of the Chige dipping noodles!

I heard that the extra noodles were 1.5 times the regular portion, but I hesitated and declined last time. However, I felt a strong desire to challenge myself, and I had been feeling restless. I thought that trying a tsukemen or soupless ramen might be doable even though the soup-soaked ramen seemed difficult. I confirmed that they had tsukemen at the restaurant and asked how to order extra noodles. The prices were as follows: Large ramen 1000 yen, Tsukemen 50 yen, Extra noodles 50 yen (paid in cash at the counter). Excited with anticipation, I waited, and a bowl of ramen filled with dipping sauce was served. It was "Extra Oil Day" today, so there were many solid oils floating on top. The soup had a curry flavor, which surprisingly increased my appetite. I was amazed as I watched the staff drain the noodles multiple times through the counter. The noodles were served in a huge pot-like bowl. The rim was about 40-50 centimeters in diameter, and the depth was about 20 centimeters. The overflowing noodles created a beautiful ridge like Mount Fuji. The battle with the noodles began. I tried a few bites without dipping anything. The noodles, rinsed in cold water, had a slippery texture and a rich flavor. I had a few mouthfuls as is before dipping them in the curry-flavored dipping sauce. Delicious, this is Jiro-style tsukemen. I transferred the meat to the dipping sauce and ate it quickly to avoid it becoming tough. By the time I reached about halfway, I started to feel full. I realized that the feeling was similar to when I finished a regular large ramen. Could the extra noodles be equivalent to double the portion, not just 1.5 times? For just an additional 50 yen, this amount of extra noodles showed the owner's determination beyond profit. Giving up would tarnish the name of a Jirolian. I regained my determination and faced the noodles again. I started over, eating a few bites of noodles alone to refresh my mouth before dipping them in the soup. I repeated this process until I could see the bottom of the bowl. I was on the verge of finishing. With a final push, I finished everything. My stomach was bursting, and I was in pain, but I felt a great sense of satisfaction from reaching the pinnacle. I was in a great mood. Thank you for the meal.

I had plans in Kyoto, so I went to Jiro's for lunch. It was almost full, but there was no line. Today, I ordered ramen with extra noodles, garlic, scallions, bean sprouts, and pork. The pork was huge and had a lot of fat, giving it a strong umami flavor. I felt really full afterwards and now I want to be more conscious about moving my body for a while.

10 minutes before the evening session, there were 7 people waiting in line, including myself. Tonight, there was occasional light rain, so the covered walkway was much appreciated. I confirmed with the manager that extra noodles were available. When I asked for "1.5 times the normal portion of ramen," I was worried about leaving food behind and decided against it. Instead, I ordered a large portion of ramen with extra garlic, vegetables, and toppings. The young staff seemed confused at first, so I had to explain that I wanted more than just a little extra. Please refer to the attached photo. I was touched by the restaurant's dedication and enjoyed a delicious meal. Thank you. It was delicious.

I arrived around 1 o'clock and there was still a line, but I was glad to be able to get in. It was my first time trying Jiro in Kansai, and it was delicious as always. The pork was especially tasty. The Kujyo green onions and egg were a perfect match. The noodles were a bit less than I would have liked, but still a sufficient amount. If I have the chance, I would prefer half the amount of noodles next time. Thank you for the meal!

Soon after, I was surprised by the long-awaited bowl of ramen that arrived. Despite ordering a smaller portion, the amount was quite substantial. I didn't ask for extra toppings, but there was an abundance of pork in the bowl. There were thick chunks of pork, two or even three pieces, and all of them were substantial. Is this the Kyoto style? I thought they might have run out of noodles, but seeing many other customers with similar bowls, I assumed this was indeed the Kyoto style. The pork was tender and juicy, giving a feeling of eating a thick steak. I was concerned that I might get full before reaching the noodles, but I decided to just go for it. The soup had a delicious soy sauce flavor, not too strong, with a gentle sweetness. The noodles were soft at first, but I realized they were cooked just right, not too soft. There was a generous amount of noodles, and although I was worried about finishing them all, they were surprisingly easy to eat. I topped it off with flavorful Kujo green onions and enjoyed every last bite. The pleasant breeze from the Kamo River added to the experience. I wonder when I will have the chance to visit again.

I found out about Jiro on Twitter, where it was causing a stir, and learned that there is a Jiro in Kansai. It sounded scary, but I was curious so I decided to go. I was worried, so I did a lot of research before going. I ordered with less oil. I felt relieved as soon as I was able to say it. I usually eat more than others, so I thought I could handle it and lined up. But I ended up leaving about a third of it... Well, as soon as I saw it, I didn't feel like eating pork. (I'm not a fan of ramen chashu to begin with.) One of the two slices was softer and tastier than I expected when I ate it. I thought the staff would be scary, but they were actually quite nice. They said it was okay to leave it if you couldn't finish it, so I didn't get scolded for leaving some. The taste was delicious and I liked it, so I want to try it again with less noodles or only half next time.
