In October 2022, I went on a trip to Kyoto after 8 months. I got off at Kyoto Shiyakusho-mae Station and headed towards "Kiyamachi Street" from exit 2. I found the restaurant I was looking for, called "Nikurou Kanae," located near the Takase River in Kyoto. I managed to make a reservation through Instagram and was warmly welcomed by the staff and the beautiful brother-sister duo. I ordered a course for 18,500 yen which included various dishes like beef tongue sashimi, heart with Joma sauce, and more. Each dish was beautifully presented and delicious, with unique flavors and combinations. The meal ended with a delicious curry rice and milk gelato for dessert. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience that I highly recommend.

Niku Ryori Kanai is a popular meat cuisine restaurant located a 3-5 minute walk from Kyoto City Hall Station. The restaurant, run by a charming couple, has received high ratings and even made it to the top 1000 on Tabelog. While the visuals and atmosphere of the restaurant are often highlighted, the quality of the food and the dedication to ingredients are also impressive. We tried the evening omakase course, starting with a refreshing gaspacho with beautifully glossy beef cheek meat and tender boiled tendon. The course included a variety of dishes showcasing the high quality of the ingredients, such as a lightly marbled beef sashimi and thinly sliced tongue with a red onion and myoga sauce. The thickly braised tongue with black mushrooms and the spicy mixed soba noodles were also highlights. The balance of flavors in the cold sirloin dish with lemon foam and dashi jelly was exquisite. The steak sandwich, made with homemade tartar sauce and blue eggs, was a must-try. The finale, a choice between two options for the closing dish, featured a delicious European-style curry with slow-cooked sirloin and tongue, topped with a buttery butternut squash sauce over milk gelato. Every dish was satisfying and flavorful, making it a highly recommended dining experience. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

Located just a 3-minute walk from Kyoto City Hall Station, this restaurant caught my attention on Instagram and I finally visited it. The interior was relatively small, with 8 counter seats and one table. The course started on time and dishes kept coming out. 1. Gazpacho - A soup with tomato and cucumber flavors topped with lightly grilled meat. The meat was refreshing and paired well with the soup. 2. Red meat sashimi - Served with foamy soy sauce and truffle oil. The meat was tender and went well with the egg and soy sauce. 3. Tongue sashimi - Surprisingly crunchy texture, paired perfectly with the leek paste. 4. Heart sashimi - Served with red onion sauce. 5. Braised tongue - Tender and flavorful, with a mushroom sauce that complemented the dish. 6. Soba noodles with homemade chili oil. 7. Cold shabu-shabu - Quickly blanched meat with a strong broth jelly. 8. Sirloin sandwich - Rare sirloin topped with homemade tartar sauce. 9. Ichibo sauté - Served with Man'yoji chili pepper sauce. 10. Tongue curry - Spicy and flavorful, with a good balance of spices and meatiness. 11. Freshly made gelato - A light dessert after the meat dishes. Overall, the quality of the meat in each dish was outstanding. As everyone says, Chef Kanae is extremely beautiful! She had a stylish piercing. I was seated at the end of the counter since I was dining alone. The counter was quite spacious, so it was not a problem. The overall dishes were beautifully presented, with delicate flavors that were delicious! The bottled beer was quite small and priced at 1500 yen, and the drinks were also on the expensive side. The service felt a bit rushed as the dishes came out quickly. Considering the price of over 20,000 yen for the course, I would have liked to have coffee served at the end. The dessert, vanilla ice cream with pumpkin sauce, was too heavy. I think the dessert should have been something lighter like mango or yogurt sorbet. They could improve on the desserts. It would be nice if they also offered dishes that combine meat and fish. For a course that did not include luxury ingredients like caviar, 22,000 yen was quite expensive for me. I had a beer and a glass of white wine, so the total bill came to 25,700 yen. I arrived at the restaurant early and noticed several other interesting shops nearby.

It was incredibly delicious!!! I hadn't done anything for Father's Day, my father's birthday, Mother's Day, or my mother's birthday, so I took them here. The meat sashimi was so delicious. Mixing the soy sauce foam with the egg and eating it was so tasty~ And the katsu sandwich was too luxurious!! Seriously, I am so satisfied. It was a great gift!

I had always been curious about this restaurant that is known for its difficulty in making reservations, but about a month and a half ago, I was able to secure a reservation, so as a meat lover, I had to go. I was looking forward to it. The omakase course was priced at 22,000 yen and included: - Tenderloin Carpaccio: The texture of the meat was unique, with a sweet and tangy tomato flavor enhanced by olive oil and black pepper. It was delicious and perfect for summer. - Lean Red Meat Sashimi with White Truffle Oil: The aroma of white truffle oil paired well with the slightly sweet soy foam, and the tender texture of the lean red meat was delightful. - Tongue Sashimi: Sweet and creamy, with a great texture and flavor. The ginger and green onions complemented it well. - Heart Sashimi: The acidity and flavor of the red onion and myoga sauce were delicious, and I enjoyed the texture of the heart, especially the charred skin. - Braised Tongue: The sauce made with black mushrooms and mushrooms was rich and flavorful, and the olive oil added a nice touch to the tender tongue. - Homemade Chili Oil Mazesoba: The chewy noodles were coated in a slightly spicy and sweet sauce, reminiscent of curry, with a lingering aftertaste. - Sirloin Shabu-Shabu: The hand-cut sirloin was thick and satisfying, and the combination of Awaji Island Meyer lemon zest and dashi jelly made it light and flavorful. - Steak Sandwich: The meat was tender and juicy, sandwiched between crispy toast and topped with a tangy tartar sauce. - Fried Zucchini and Ichibo: The balance of flavors between the savory Ichibo and the zesty zucchini, along with the sweet and sour balsamic sauce, was excellent. - Hojicha: A comforting finish to the meal. - Choice of Curry, Gyudon with Beef, or Chinese-style Meat Bowl for the final rice dish. It was my first time visiting, and all the dishes were delicious, showing a high level of quality. There were some reviews mentioning that the menu was always the same, but considering how tasty the food was, I didn't mind that at all. The service was excellent, and I had a great time. The only complaint I have is that I thought I would be seated at the counter, but ended up at a table further away. It would be nice to receive a notice in advance if I would be seated at a table. Also, there were mostly regular customers, which made me feel a bit left out. While it seemed like they valued their regular customers, I think it would be nice to have a bit more interaction or approach towards other customers like myself.

I visited "Nikuyaki Kanae" in front of Kyoto City Hall for the first time. I had seen it often on social media and wanted to try this meat specialty restaurant. It has a counter with 8 seats and one table for four people, accommodating a total of 6 groups of customers. I started with ordering a beer and making a toast. The chef's special course for the day began with: - Simmered beef tongue with new onions and fava beans - Beef tongue sashimi with Daikokuji natto and wasabi - Heart sashimi with seared heart skin, red onions, and sansho pepper - Tender beef in hot broth - Lean beef sashimi with egg yolk, asatsuki, and foamy soy sauce - Sagari (beef cut) with homemade spicy noodle sauce - Herb salad from Kajitani Farm - Sirloin shabu-shabu with watercress, Nara pickles, and Meyer lemon - Steak sandwich with Oita Ranou egg - Deep-fried and grilled beef tendon with eggplant, balsamic vinegar, and mushrooms - Curry with beef tongue and sirloin - Milk gelato Each dish brought out the unique flavors of the different cuts of meat, paired with carefully selected vegetables and sauces. I was impressed by the quality of the meat, but what really stood out was the delicious sauces that accompanied each dish. They were so carefully prepared, it made me happy. Although we couldn't try everything (I shared with my companion), we ended up trying all the rice dishes at the end (one type per person). You can choose from curry, ochazuke, or gyudon, but we couldn't decide so we ended up trying all three. I personally enjoyed the ochazuke the most, but all of them were delicious. The prices are a bit high, so the expectations are raised, but there's also a time limit so you can't really relax and take your time. I guess I've reached an age where this dining style is a bit challenging for me. To all you young people out there, go visit this place! Learn how to enjoy food to the fullest. Revel in the deliciousness and excitement!

I went for the first time in about six months and it had been updated a lot. They are really diligent. There were so many changes that I can't even list them all. They serve food quickly, which is nice. The harami and eggplant were delicious. A lemon cream pasta was served and it was delicious. It's always a cozy restaurant.

A super popular restaurant located a 5-minute walk from Keihan Sanjo Station, known for serving delicious meat dishes by a beautiful brother and sister duo. I visited after a long time and was captivated by the sight of the beautiful proprietress Kanae-san cutting the meat, and the wonderful combination of the siblings creating a truly pleasant atmosphere. The menu has changed a lot and the new dishes were extremely delicious. New reservations can be made every month through a reservation site, so if you haven't been there yet, be sure to check it out. This time's course was 22,000 yen and included dishes like simmered tongue, tongue sashimi, heart sashimi, boiled tendon, tonbi sashimi, homemade chili oil soba, Kajitani Farm microgreen salad, sirloin shabu-shabu, steak sandwich, ichibo steak with eggplant, lemon and fava bean pasta, harami rice bowl with Chinese sauce, tongue stew and sirloin curry rice, and freshly made milk gelato. I had always wanted to visit the meat cuisine restaurant Kanae-san. The first half consisted of mainly raw dishes, followed by tempting dishes like one-bite sukiyaki. Personally, I found the steak sandwich to be delicious. For the finale, I chose curry, but unfortunately, they said, "There's a problem and the rice isn't cooked." It was disappointing, and the lemon pasta that was served instead didn't leave a lasting impression. It seemed like a staff meal option, but it lacked the essence of a meat cuisine restaurant. For those who have visited multiple times, the off-menu option might be appealing, but for first-time visitors, it was quite a tough situation. Overall, it left me feeling like, "Hmm..." I might want to give it another try, but at this point, I'm not sure if I need to make a reservation for a return visit.

My favorites were the boiled tripe, shabu-shabu, and meat sandwich. However, I felt that the seasoning for the meat sandwich could be lighter as it was too salty and didn't bring out the flavor of the meat. It was a bit too strong to eat on its own.
