I went to a Chinese restaurant a little far away to try out something new. Their specialty was stone pot mapo tofu, which I ordered. They offer unlimited rice, which is great when eating mapo tofu. I chose the medium level of spiciness out of four options, as I wanted to play it safe. The mapo tofu that arrived had a very thick texture, almost like gelatin, which made me a bit hesitant to eat it. The spiciness was at a medium level, but I think I could have handled a slightly higher level. I feel like it would have been more delicious if it had a bit less thick texture.

First visit! I decided to grab a bite to eat and randomly walked into this place. I ordered the spicy knife-cut noodles. Even though I wasn't very hungry, I thought I could eat it quickly, but I was defeated by the volume of the knife-cut noodles. I'm sorry, I couldn't finish it. I want to come back when I'm feeling better and hungry next time!

I visited the restaurant for lunch. It was almost full due to lunchtime, but I was seated quickly. They had lunch set menus, and I ordered the tantanmen today. You can choose the level of spiciness, and I went with medium this time. I didn't know how spicy the restaurant was. You can also add cilantro, so I ordered that too. The noodles were a bit soft for my liking, but the soup was delicious without being too spicy. I want to try other items besides the noodles.

Good morning. Yesterday, I went to Takigiya in Yotsuya 3-chome for my first stop. They have a lot of appetizers and sake. It's a bit tough that they don't have sunken kotatsu seating, but maybe it's for the best since I would drink forever if they did. Then, my companion wanted to eat ramen, so we went to a Chinese restaurant we happened to see. The underground restaurant was spacious and not crowded. The Szechuan cuisine was delicious, including homemade gyoza, spicy stir-fried squid, mapo tofu, Shanghai-style fried noodles, soupless knife-cut noodles, and fried rice. I ate too much yesterday, didn't get enough sleep, so today I'll go to the gym, stretch, burn some calories, and then eat again.

Located about a 5-minute walk from Yotsuya Station, underground towards Yotsuya Sanchome along Shinjuku Street. In this area, there are many Chinese restaurants but no Sichuan cuisine!! Suddenly feeling a craving for Sichuan food, I checked the time and it was already past 8 pm... Despite many shops closing early, this place seemed like it would still be open late, so I decided to go in. The interior is spacious with several table seats underground. There was only one group of customers. Since I was dining alone, I planned to order some appetizers and a main dish, and take home whatever I couldn't finish.
[Soy Sprout and Wood Ear Mushroom Salad with Black Vinegar] I wanted to eat soy sprouts, but the black vinegar caught my eye, so I decided to try it. It was beyond my imagination. I thought it would be a garlic stir-fry with black vinegar, but it was more like black vinegar with a strong sweetness. It was delicious, but seemed more like a dessert or palate cleanser.
[Intestine Sausage] A slice of sausage on top of raw leeks, meant to be eaten with gochujang. I prefer eating it plain, so I had it as it is. It had a hint of sweetness, neither good nor bad.
[Tan Tan Knife-Cut Noodles] I ordered this based on its visual appeal. It was so delicious, I couldn't stop eating it. The meat portion was small, and it came with a little bit of cilantro and bean sprouts. They recommended mixing it well, and when I did, the noodles were perfectly coated with the tan tan sauce. I ate about half and took the rest home.

Today, as usual, I was walking along Shinjuku Street. This restaurant serves dinner menu as well, but I wasn't sure if it's only available during lunchtime. Today, I visited during lunchtime. It seems like the store has recently opened or been renovated. I checked the menu on the outside sign and went down the stairs. As expected, there were only a few customers. I chose the authentic Szechuan-style twice-cooked pork for 880 yen. Lately, I've been craving spicy food because of the cold weather. After a short wait, the dish arrived with a strong aroma of green onions and leeks. The red color was appetizing. The taste was delicious, with a rich flavor and a shiny oil typical of Szechuan cuisine. The sweet and savory pork was good, but the overall stimulating smell of green onions really whetted my appetite. However, I was expecting more spiciness, but it was mild. This level of spiciness is probably what most people prefer. I don't have a high tolerance for spicy food either. The side egg soup was mild. I thought the dessert would be almond jelly, but it turned out to be something like ice cream or yogurt, with a slightly sweet and mysterious taste. Many set meals come with a poor almond jelly dessert, but this restaurant's dessert was surprisingly delicious. After the meal, I checked the sign outside again and saw that they had a special offer for the grand opening, but I believed that my choice was not wrong and left satisfied.

I was surprised when I randomly walked into this authentic Sichuan Chinese restaurant for lunch. The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice, the food was incredibly delicious, and the prices were reasonable. Not only the main dishes, but also the pickled vegetables, steamed rice, almond jelly dessert, everything was well-prepared. I don't understand why this restaurant has such low ratings, as mentioned by other reviewers. Foodies, please give this place a fair evaluation.

Night has also come, and I still think that the Chinese food around here is of high quality. It may be a bit hard to find because it's underground, but I don't understand why it's not busier. I've only ordered Sichuan-style dishes, but they are all delicious. If you order them medium spicy, they shouldn't be too spicy. Highballs are around 400 yen. The dishes I recommend are: Cloud White Meat Shrimp, Fragrant Fried Chicken, Twice-Cooked Pork, Mapo Tofu, and Cumin Stir-Fry.

I went for lunch. I ordered the Sichuan-style soup-less tantan knife-cut noodles set (with free small rice and almond jelly) with a side of mini drooling chicken for 1100 yen. I also added a large portion for an extra 50 yen. The knife-cut noodles were delicious, with a good amount and a nice spicy kick. I was very satisfied. I have tried other dishes like Yurinchi and cumin beef stir-fry before, but they didn't really suit my taste. So, whenever I visit, I always go for the knife-cut noodles with a side of drooling chicken set with a large portion. Even those with a big appetite can get quite full with this meal.

They also serve lunch on Saturdays. The delicious Szechuan-style twice-cooked pork has a strong flavor from garlic leaves and is very tasty. They use delicious almond tofu. Lunch starts at 800 yen.
