SO-SU Watanabe is a Western-style restaurant located in Pontocho. As you turn from Shijo Ohashi onto Pontocho Street, you'll see the restaurant on your left. The traditional Kyoto-style exterior and lovely noren curtain are impressive. Inside, the restaurant extends deep with counter and table seating options. The menu offers various combinations, making it hard to choose. The Mix B set meal (2300 yen) includes Yoshiju pork tonkatsu, head-on shrimp fry, and cream croquette. The Mix C set meal (2400 yen) features Chateaubriand pork cutlet, head-on shrimp fry, and cream croquette. Both are tempting dishes. The recommended Chateaubriand pork cutlet is moist and tender with a light flavor. The Yoshiju pork tonkatsu is tender, juicy, and has a sweet fat. Try it with wasabi, salt, soy sauce, and sauce for different flavors. The head-on shrimp fry is crispy with a succulent texture. The cream croquette is also delicious. Everything is so tasty that you'll feel happy as you eat. This popular restaurant requires reservations, so make sure to book ahead.

I made a reservation for lunch on a day off and visited the restaurant. My friend ordered omurice and I ordered tonkatsu. The tonkatsu was tender and not greasy, very delicious. It was quite a large portion though (laughs). For those who didn't make a reservation, they will seat you as soon as there is an available table, but the turnover rate for lunch was not bad, so even if you didn't make a reservation, it might be worth dropping by the restaurant to check.

I made a reservation and found that it was essential as there were many people waiting without one. There are counters and tables. Rice is free for refills. The fried pork cutlet was crispy and freshly cooked. There was plenty of cabbage served, so I didn't need to refill my rice to feel full.

I was surprised to find many Western-style restaurants in Kawaramachi, Kyoto, where there are usually a lot of Japanese restaurants. I tried the Western set meal and the Hamburg Omelette Rice at Sauce Watanabe. The meat was tender and sweet, and the omelette rice matched perfectly with the demi-glace sauce. It was really delicious.

I went to eat omurice for lunch. When I entered the restaurant, I saw a really delicious set meal, so I decided to order that. The chateaubriand cutlet and shrimp fry were incredibly delicious! The rice and miso soup were also free refills, so I ate a lot! Next time, I will go to eat omurice!

I aimed to open at 11 am on weekdays! When I went before, there was a line on weekends, so I went early, but there was no line at all, and no one came to the store while I was eating alone. I think it's recommended to go on weekdays! The shadow brie cutlet was light and soft, very easy to eat and delicious! The shrimp was also large with heads, and very filling! It may not be a lunch price that you can go to many times, but it was nice to be able to eat slowly!

Chateaubriand (6 slices) 1870 yen
Premium pork loin cutlet (150g) 1550 yen
Head-on shrimp fry (2 pieces) 960 yen
Minced cutlet (2 pieces) 580 yen
Extra large rice
The shrimp fry is juicy and moist on the inside, crispy on the outside, and very delicious. It goes well with salt! It would be even better with tartar sauce instead of mayonnaise. The Chateaubriand is tender with a nice crispy texture. It has a meaty flavor and is delicious. The premium pork loin cutlet is tasty, but I think the Chateaubriand is the best at this restaurant. It didn't have much sweetness in the pork loin. I came here after seeing a past review about Scotch eggs, but they are no longer available, so I tried the minced cutlet instead. It was juicy and delicious, although I wished it had come with an egg. Personally, I liked the shrimp and Chateaubriand the most! The omelet rice with hamburger also looks delicious, so I would like to visit again.

I made a reservation and went for lunch on a weekday, and the restaurant was relatively empty, so I might not have needed a reservation on a weekday. The omurice was a bit salty, but other than that, it was delicious. The hamburger on top was especially tasty.

It felt like a traditional Japanese set meal restaurant. I didn't expect it to be like that, so I was a little disappointed, but the dishes were visually appealing and delicious. I was sad that the drink I wanted was sold out. I couldn't eat a lot of dishes, but the atmosphere was nice, and I would like to go back for lunch again!

Set C includes Chateaubriand cutlet, shrimp fry, and cream croquette. It also comes with ice cream for dessert. When ordering the set, the cutlets are served together, so it might be better to order the cutlet as a single item. The portion size was generous and delicious. I also tried the hamburger, which was decent in taste. Overall, the fried dishes were more delicious. Thank you for the meal!

When looking for a place to have lunch in Kyoto, I came across Omuberg on Instagram and was intrigued. I arrived a little earlier than my reservation time, but they were able to accommodate me without any issues. The restaurant is a bit small, and I was nervous about bumping into things with my large backpack. I was a bit worried if I could finish the meal, but the omurice was a bit on the smaller side, so it should be fine even for women. The demiglace sauce was delicious, and you could taste the buttery flavor in the rice. I'm interested in trying other menu items, and I would love to go back again, although I'll probably end up ordering the Omuberg again. It was really delicious. Thank you for the meal!

So-Su Watanabe-Omubagu. ¥1960 Trip to Kyoto with friends. The first stop was So-Su Watanabe, right at the entrance of Pontocho. I fell in love at first sight with the Omurice I saw on SNS. I didn't hesitate to order it. It looked delicious from the start. The hamburger steak was meaty, and the omurice with demi-glace sauce was just the right richness. My friend treated me here for a belated birthday celebration, which I am grateful for. We were able to secure a table 1 hour after visiting on the day. I recommend making a reservation in advance when visiting. If you have the chance, be sure to stop by. #Gourmet #KansaiGourmet #KyotoGourmet #GionShijoGourmet #PontochoGourmet #SoSuWatanabe #Omurice #Omubagu #OmuriceLover #GourmetLover #WantToConnectWithGourmetLovers #GourmetInstagram #Pontocho

Searched for a Western-style lunch in Kyoto. Ordered a lunch to share for two people. The restaurant is small and narrow, located in Pontocho. We were seated at the only isolated table in the back, but it was a bit dirty. The reset after the previous customers was not thorough. Additionally, the clear tablecloth did not give a sense of cleanliness, it felt a bit sticky. It's a shame because the food was delicious. We had deep-fried shrimp, chateaubriand cutlet, and hamburger. The chateaubriand with salt and wasabi is recommended. Considering the location, the cost performance is good. Next time, I will try other menu items as well.

Located right near Gion Shijo Station, there is a Western-style restaurant called SO-SU Watanabe. This popular restaurant is always fully booked, so it is recommended to make a reservation by the day before. They have a wide variety of a la carte menu items, but one of the recommended dishes is the "Kin Set." The Kin Set is a course meal limited to 7 sets per day, priced at 5500 yen for two people. The menu includes appetizers, 2 deep-fried prawns, 6 pieces of Chateaubriand cutlet made with high-quality pork, rice, miso soup (free refills), a 180g foil-wrapped hamburger steak, and a mini dessert. The Chateaubriand made with pork, known for having only 1/10th of the bad bacteria found in tuna, and the deep-fried prawns are highly recommended. Despite being priced under 3000 yen per person, the satisfaction level is maximum with these two dishes. The fact that you can have unlimited rice and miso soup is also a nice touch. By the time the foil-wrapped hamburger steak is served, you will likely be quite full. The only slightly disappointing aspect was the hamburger steak itself, which had a sticky texture more similar to a meatball than a traditional hamburger steak. However, it still pairs well with rice and is enjoyable. SO-SU Watanabe, the always fully booked Western-style restaurant, thank you for the meal.

The tonkatsu was surprisingly delicious, made with a special pork called Hosho pork from Nagasaki. The fat was not too heavy, sweet and tasty, and easy to chew. It was served with wasabi, salt, sauce, and a soy sauce-like condiment. The salt or sauce was the most delicious. I made a reservation for Saturday at 1:30 PM, but it was fully booked. It might be less crowded after 2 PM. The location is in Pontocho, so you can feel the Kyoto atmosphere. Be sure to visit when you are in Kyoto.

I made a reservation for a set meal for two people that cost around 5000 yen, which included shrimp fry and Chateaubriand cutlet. They were incredibly delicious. It also came with rice and miso soup, so we were very full. (You can get seconds of rice and miso soup!)

I visited this restaurant for the first time during my long-awaited trip to Kyoto. When I opened the door, I found a cozy and intimate atmosphere with a small number of seats. I tried the limited quantity Chateaubriand cutlet made from the delicious Houshu pork directly shipped from Nagasaki prefecture. The cutlet was fried to perfection with a rare center, creating a beautiful color gradient. It had no unpleasant smell and tasted amazing with salt, sauce, and wasabi soy sauce. The Omu-hamburger was also delightful, with a hamburger placed on top of an omelet rice in perfect balance. The presentation and taste were both excellent. This restaurant offers great value for the quality of food, and I would definitely visit again when in Kyoto.

Before the store opened, there were 5-6 people waiting in line, including us, in the narrow corner of Pontocho. We were seated near the entrance, perhaps because we didn't have a reservation. The restaurant's name is "so-su," so I had high hopes for the sauce and ordered the omurice. The omurice, with its nicely shaped egg and demiglace sauce drizzled around it, looked appetizing. The slightly tangy sauce paired well with the classic-style egg. However, I think the service could use some improvement. The attitude and atmosphere of the staff are essential seasonings for a dining experience. I will visit again with expectations.

It's delicious but the value for money is not that great. When I visited, most of the customers were in their 20s. The atmosphere is stylish, so I would recommend it for going with friends, but for students or housewives, it might be considered expensive. It may depend on the menu you order though.

It was a regular weekday night, so I was able to walk in without a reservation. Whenever I feel like having Western cuisine, I come here occasionally. The presentation is beautiful, and the dishes look absolutely delicious! It's almost a waste of time taking photos because I just want to dig in right away, haha. By the way, you can get refills for rice and miso soup, but I was full with the amount in this photo. My craving for Western food was definitely satisfied. Thank you for the meal.

I ordered the popular omurice at a Western-style restaurant right after entering Pontocho. The omurice had a nice flavor, with a light demi-glace sauce. The hamburger was small but packed with meat, so it was surprisingly filling. I might try a different cutlet dish next time. Thank you for the delicious meal!
