The portion size would be just right for someone with a big appetite (by general standards).

Despite the slightly uncomfortable atmosphere, I may come back occasionally. It was tasty.

This is my first visit for lunch. It's a Chinese restaurant located about a 3-minute walk from JR Yoyogi Station East Exit along Meiji Street. It used to be a soba shop, and next to it is "Kakuei," a Niigata miso ramen shop. The atmosphere is a bit hard to enter from the outside, but when I entered around noon, about 80% of the seats were filled. Inside the restaurant, you can hear energetic voices saying "Thank you!" in Chinese. The Chinese cuisine menu has a variety of options, and I ordered the 'Shrimp Fried Rice' for 750 yen. The presentation doesn't feel very meticulous, but it comes with soup, pickled vegetables, and almond jelly. The taste of the 'Shrimp Fried Rice' was decently delicious, with 6 pieces of shrimp included. It is not non-smoking during lunchtime, so if there are people smoking, the air can be unpleasant. Since there wasn't a standout menu item for lunch, it may be difficult to revisit.

Shanghai Sakaba @ Yoyogi Nishiguchi Store Located along Meiji Street, a little walk from Yoyogi Station, there is a Chinese restaurant called Shanghai Sakaba. It used to be a soba restaurant called Chojusan. Shanghai Sakaba also has a store on the east side of Yoyogi Station, and this one along Meiji Street seems to be a newly opened store this year. The all-you-can-eat and drink option they offer is very popular for company welcome parties. This time, we are using it for a welcome party as well. The price for the 2-hour all-you-can-eat and drink option is 2,980 yen excluding tax, which is quite a steal. Since the consumption tax increased to 8%, it's rare to find all-you-can-drink courses under 3,200 yen including tax. In this regard, Shanghai Sakaba is a very valuable restaurant. The quality of the food is excellent, with 124 dishes to choose from for the all-you-can-eat option, making it quite impressive. The restaurant is about the same size as the store on the east side. The store on the east side is always crowded, so even though it's a bit far from the station, the opening of this second store is a welcome addition. A familiar staff member from the east side store happened to visit this store, which was a nice surprise. It's recommended to start with beer and the drink orders arrive quickly. - Cantonese Steamed Chicken / Char Siu Potato Fries / Edamame Appetizer: The steamed chicken is juicy and tender, setting a great start. The potato fries were surprisingly popular. - Cucumber Salad / Pea Sprouts Stir-Fry / Tofu Salad with Bean Sprouts: The pea sprouts stir-fry is recommended, and it's important to balance the vegetable intake during the all-you-can-eat option. - Stir-Fried Garlic Chives and Egg / Shrimp in Chili Sauce / Shredded Pork in Green Pepper Sauce / Twice-Cooked Pork: The classic Chinese dishes are all delicious and you can't go wrong with any of them. - Mapo Tofu / Fried Chicken / Shumai / Tianjin Noodles: The mapo tofu has a strong Sichuan peppercorn flavor. The shumai was excellent, showing their skills in dim sum as well. - Finally, my favorite dish at Shanghai Sakaba is the pan-fried dumplings. They are incredibly delicious with perfectly seasoned meat filling and a great texture from the vegetables. For around 3,000 yen, you can enjoy eating and drinking to your heart's content, making it a great option for a fun drinking party.

The shrimp and egg dish I was served was a bit bland, but it became a decent side dish with some vinegar and soy sauce added to it along with the rice. It was satisfactory. A small serving of almond jelly was included, but it would be better if they omitted it and lowered the cost instead. The variety of the menu, the portion size, and the reasonable prices seem to contribute to their prosperity. However, there were many people smoking in the noisy atmosphere. With fewer restaurants allowing smoking during lunch hours, places like this where smoking is permitted tend to attract a concentration of smokers. Therefore, I don't think I will actively revisit this place.
