I visited this restaurant about 20 years ago and it was only open on weekdays, so I didn't have a chance to come back. Thanks to a drama, I visited again with a friend from Tokyo. I requested a window seat when making a reservation, and we got a great corner seat with a nice view. I ordered the beef curry that I had before. Unfortunately, they were out of heart celery. The staff serves rice on your plate as much as you want, and I couldn't help but ask for more. The curry was served in a beautiful dish, and I enjoyed pouring it over the rice. The beef chunks were plentiful and the curry had a refined taste, unlike my mom's curry (of course). I felt like I ate twice as much as usual. The three types of pickles were a nice touch. The staff seemed to take pride in their work. Thank you for the delicious meal.

We visited this restaurant with my wife and kids during the summer vacation, as we couldn't get a reservation during our last business trip. It was fully booked as expected. We chose the daily lunch course with meat, and the food was delicious. The service and hospitality were top-notch, and we had a pleasant time. My wife and kids were also satisfied.

It was a lovely lunch at a classy restaurant with a large group. We made a reservation a week in advance for 1:30 pm, and it was a bit late for lunch. My friends ordered the lunch course which included soup, salad, main dish, dessert, and drinks, but I was intrigued by the moussaka so I ordered it. It turned out to be a bit small, so I should have also ordered rice or bread. I also added a pudding for dessert, along with a delicious coffee. The total bill was around 3,000 yen, which felt a bit on the expensive side. The atmosphere was great, and I would like to come back with a smaller group to enjoy a leisurely meal. It was a nice lunch experience, and the female group was quite chatty.

I had a course dinner at a business entertainment. I had been curious about it for a while. It started with a famous whole celery, followed by appetizers, sautéed dish, soup, and beef fillet steak, all of which were delicious. The freshly baked bread was also very tasty. I was surprised when three types of desserts were served. We enjoyed delicious food and drinks while having a lively conversation. Next time, I would like to try the famous curry for lunch. Thank you for the meal.

The restaurant is located in the Osaka Gas (now Daigas) headquarters building completed in 1933, with a history of 90 years. We visited for lunch and the building itself exudes history, making the experience quite exciting from the moment you enter. The restaurant on the first floor is dedicated to Gas Building Dining and is quite popular, with reservations being full until 3 pm. We arrived just before the 11:30 am opening time and had to wait in the waiting area, where we looked at photos of the history of Gas Building Dining. Our names were called to confirm our reservation, and we were seated. We were a group of three colleagues, and we started discussing the menu even before entering the restaurant. The lunch course changes daily, and today's options were "Beef Steak" or "Pan-fried Sea Bass." There were also specialties like Moussaka and Gas Building Curry that we wanted to try. Taking advantage of having three people, we decided to order the lunch course each and share the Moussaka. To our surprise, a whole celery stalk was served as the first dish, which turned out to be the tender and juicy part called "Heart Celery." I chose the steak as my main, and the Demi-Glace sauce was exceptional. It had a rich and well-balanced flavor with a hint of bitterness that paired perfectly with the meat. The Moussaka can also be ordered separately and shared among a group, as we did. This Greek dish consists of vegetables and meat stewed in Demi-Glace sauce, surrounded by mashed potatoes and baked in the oven. The mashed potatoes surrounding the Moussaka were also delicious. The quality of the Demi-Glace sauce and mashed potatoes truly showcased the restaurant's excellence. It was a satisfying meal for lunch.

I had a simple job in Osaka, so I traveled there. My wife accompanied me this time, so I made a reservation here to have a calm lunch. I tried to go for dinner near here when I stayed nearby before, but unfortunately it was full, so this time I made a reservation a little earlier. The Gas Building is an old building with a certain prestige, completed in 1933, and is still an active office building. There is a spacious waiting room on the 8th floor. It reminds me of the former Takashimaya department store in Nihonbashi. There are many ladies in kimono, and it seems to be loved by Osaka celebrities for a long time. The waiting room displays many photos of the Gas Building's history and completion. Soon, we were guided to our table. The interior of the restaurant has a calm atmosphere with wide spaces between tables. Shortly after moving to Tokyo, I remembered when I tried to act sophisticated and went to Shiseido Parlour in Ginza. I ordered the moussaka and my wife ordered the beef curry. Unfortunately, the famous celery dish I wanted to try was sold out. The moussaka is a signature dish baked in the oven with plenty of vegetables and beef stew in a dish rimmed with mashed potatoes and demiglace sauce. The deliciousness is understandable as it has been loved by the people of Osaka for a long time. I tried a bite of my wife's curry, which was a Western-style curry with chunks of beef, typical of a Western-style restaurant. For dessert, I ordered peach melba and my wife ordered a chocolate sundae, but they were just ordinary ice creams with nothing special to mention. With drinks included, I think it was around 3,000 yen per person, so it's a bit luxurious for lunch, but considering the hospitality, I didn't think it was expensive at all. I recommend it for those who want to enjoy a leisurely meal. Thank you for the meal.

I revisited the curry that I hesitated to eat last time because I was too curious. I regret not taking a picture of the curry on rice, as it had a lot of big and tender meat pieces. It was slightly spicy and incredibly delicious! The staff's customer service was also excellent, making it a wonderful restaurant!

This is a Western-style restaurant located on the 8th floor of the Osaka Gas Head Office Building. The Osaka Gas Head Office Building is a historical building built in 1933 that survived the war. Recently, it has gained popularity as a retro architecture through appearances in dramas like "Having Lunch at a Famous Building" and events like the "Living Architecture Museum Festival Osaka" held at the end of October. I had always wanted to visit this place, and finally got the chance. However, the restaurant's operating hours are limited to weekdays only, which can be a challenge for many working individuals. But they do offer continuous service, so late lunches or dinners are possible. I made a reservation by phone before visiting, and despite being fully booked until 3:00 PM when I called the day before, I managed to secure a reservation for 4:00 PM. The entrance to the restaurant is on the south side of the building, where there is a direct elevator to the restaurant. When I arrived just before 4:00 PM, the restaurant was actually reserved for me (laughs). Thanks to the reservation, I was seated at a table overlooking Midosuji Avenue. Although the lunch set time had passed, I planned to order a la carte, so it was not a problem. However, the heart celery I wanted as an appetizer was sold out, which was a bit disappointing. I ordered the following items:
- Combination Salad (Small) (¥715): A salad with lettuce, tomatoes, celery, cucumbers, etc., with dressing served separately. The dressing had a refined taste and was very delicious.
- Omelette Rice (¥1870): Served while I was almost done with the salad. The server poured demi-glace sauce over the beautifully shaped omelette rice. The omelette rice was filled with coarsely ground beef ketchup rice. The demi-glace sauce had a slightly bitter taste, which I personally liked. Despite being reserved just for me, the service was attentive but not intrusive. I was recommended a drink after the meal, but I was too full to have one. I would have liked to try the dessert as well. The total bill, including a 10% service charge, came to ¥2840. I was very satisfied with the experience. The continuous service is convenient, making it a good choice for a late lunch. It would also be suitable for a small dinner gathering. I recommend it for those looking to indulge a little during the week.

The renowned architecture firm, Sato Yasui Architectural Design Office, known for station redevelopment designs, was founded by the famous architect Yasui Takeo. One of his masterpieces is the registered tangible cultural property, the Osaka Gas Building (built in 1933), where our restaurant is located on the 8th floor. Recently, a social gathering was set to take place at our restaurant, and it was my first visit. I was impressed as I made my way to the 8th floor of the building, which also serves as the headquarters of Osaka Gas. The room was adorned with photos explaining the history of the building. We were led to a room with a long table. The courses served included celery, 3 types of appetizers, mousse, soup, steak, and dessert. I was initially worried when the first course was simply celery, but the subsequent appetizers were all delicious! Everything that followed was also of a high standard, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the course meal offered in the evening, as the restaurant is well-known for its lunch curry.

An 89-year-old European-style restaurant, also registered as a tangible cultural property. No matter when I went, it was always full or reserved for corporate events, so I finally made a reservation and visited. They accept both cash and card payments. We reserved for 3 people at 12 pm on a weekday. We arrived 20 minutes early, but they seated us right away.
[Ordered items]
- Moussaka 2,200 yen
- Special Gasby Curry (Beef) 1,980 yen
- Today's recommended lunch course (Shrimp Fry) 2,750 yen
- Peach Melba 660 yen
- Custard Pudding 550 yen
Shared all of the above. We also ordered ginger ale and coffee, spending a total of 11,370 yen for 3 people.
Even though it was "full with reservations" on that day, the indoor space, which seemed to have nearly 100 seats, had around 40 customers. The tables were nicely spaced out, and we were seated at a 6-person table, while solo diners were at 4-person tables. The empty seats on both sides and partitions provided a sense of privacy.
The course dishes started in about 5 minutes. The Moussaka was like a vegetable decoration cake, rich with beef fillet and demiglace sauce inside, giving a luxurious Hayashi rice-like sensation. Although I wished it came with rice or bread, the mashed potatoes unexpectedly filled me up.
Next was the curry, with a European twist and aromatic spices, and chunks of steak meat. The side dishes like pickles, mixed vegetables, and celery were crisp and did a great job. The shrimp fry in the course was elegant, and the smooth tartar sauce paired well.
We finished our meal within an hour and left satisfied. I would like to try the hamburger or omurice as a solo diner next time. It was a slightly upscale lunch. Thank you for the meal.

The beef curry was amazing! The chunks of beef were incredible. It was so satisfying to have big pieces of meat in the curry. The curry itself was spicy but easy to eat. Eating curry at a fancy restaurant always makes me a bit nervous for some reason. It was a special meal. Thank you for the delicious food.

I had been curious about Gas Building Dining for a while but never had the chance to visit. It's not a cafeteria, but a restaurant. There were many staff members, and they were very strict about social distancing with acrylic boards, making it hard to hear my companion's voice. I chose the lunch course, and the fish dish was recommended. The steak in the meat dish was surprisingly thin and heavily salted, to the point where I couldn't finish it. The soup was rich and delicious. The atmosphere was excellent. I would like to try a different menu next time. Thank you for the meal.

After about 4 years and 3 months, I visited this place again. The famous dishes here are the Moussaka and Beef Curry, which are only available for lunch. Last time, I had to give up and come at night. Until then, I would often take a day off on weekdays without any specific plans and attack this place even if I wasn't feeling well. However, it was always a challenge as the Stew Gold (which has irregular opening hours) was always fully booked without a reservation. The last time I managed to go to Gold was close to its 50th anniversary, and there were talks of it closing next year, but I'm not sure when that was and it should be closed now. An article about a major renovation of the building came out, so I changed my plans and made a morning reservation over the phone in case they closed due to the construction. The celery is served with salt and pepper, and you can eat it by hand. The Moussaka is said to be based on Greek Moussaka, but it's a completely different dish due to the Japanese tendency to modify it. The Beef Stew-style Moussaka is delicious! The Beef Curry is full of meat, rich in flavor, and delicious! The rice is refilled until you say stop. Black oolong tea. Heart Celery. Moussaka. Beef Curry. Delicious smile! Delicious spicy!

Amuse offered a delicious edamame mousse, classic beef consomme soup, marinated small fish with celery, and mebaru and scallop aqua pazza with saffron sauce. The restaurant was practically empty, which made the beautiful interior and view even more enjoyable.

Head up to the 8th floor of the Gas Building, a designated tangible cultural property, and visit Gas Building Shokudo, a Western-style restaurant established in 1933. From the table seats, you can overlook Midosuji Avenue, with partitions providing a spacious and tranquil atmosphere. The weekday-exclusive "Today's Recommended Lunch" features a different meat or fish dish depending on the day.
Today's Recommended Lunch:
- Meat Dish (Pullman Beef Steak)
- Potage
- Bread or Rice
- Sherbet
- Coffee
Note: If you order a course, you will be served Heart Celery as a starter. This may be a specialty from the time of establishment. The former president of Osaka Gas believed that "Celery is essential for authentic Western cuisine" and imported seeds from California. The dish is simple, eaten with salt. The meal also includes a rich, traditional potage, a salad with tangy dressing, and the main dish, Pullman Beef Steak. The term "Pullman" refers to a sleeping car on a train, and the current chef continues the legacy of the dishes served in the restaurant on the train. The steak has a slightly crispy surface and a satisfying texture. Enjoy a cup of coffee and sherbet to wrap up a refined dining experience with a touch of history.

I visited the "Gas Building Shokudo" located on the main street of Midosuji in Osaka. The restaurant is situated on the 8th floor of the south building of the "Osaka Gas Building" near Yodoyabashi Station. This historic building was built in 1933 and is designated as a tangible cultural property by the government. The interior has a bright and retro-modern atmosphere. I ordered the "Shrimp Curry" for 1,650 yen, with an additional 10% service charge. The curry was served in a unique gravy boat container. The dish was delicious, with a mild European-style curry flavor and plenty of succulent shrimp. The plate had a design of a lily flower, which is said to resemble the gas lamp's flame. The curry was reminiscent of the tasty curry rice I had at the members-only social club "Osaka Club."

Memo. Date of visit unknown. Visited about 5 times. Located in Yodoyabashi, the historic Osaka Gas building (Gas Building) offers authentic European cuisine on the 8th floor of the Art Deco-style registered tangible cultural property. The view is also very nice! For lunch, they offer curry and omurice, allowing you to enjoy this atmosphere at a reasonable price. The European-style curry rice and omurice are exquisite! The course meal starts with the traditional celery! This celery is incredibly delicious ⭐︎ ⭐︎ ⭐︎. When the celery, simply cut and placed on the plate, tastes like fruit. I was impressed right away^ ^ The following dishes are all wonderfully crafted with solid techniques and traditions. You can feel the dedication in every dish. The fusion of tradition and modernity is very well balanced. The hospitality of the staff is, of course, impeccable! In an elegant and calm atmosphere, you can leisurely enjoy a blissful moment with wonderful food.

The beef curry here is delicious! The special gas bill curry beef curry costs 1980 yen. The curry roux comes in a silver bowl, and the rice comes on a separate plate. You can choose how much rice you want at your table. The curry is simmered slowly and carefully. It reminds me of a scene from a commercial I saw when I was a child - pouring curry sauce over rice. There are chunks of beef, about the size of a steak, and they are incredibly tender! The meat is cooked just right to match the curry sauce perfectly. I mentioned it twice because it's important! Personally, I think it's a good quality for the price of 1980 yen. Next time, I might try the famous moussaka and potage!

A little south of exit 13 of the subway Yodoyabashi Station, in the gingko tree-lined street of Midosuji, stands a distinctive building known as the "Gas Building," or more formally, the "Osaka Gas Building," which serves as the headquarters of Osaka Gas. The building consists of the south wing completed in 1933 and the north wing added in 1966, with the entrance located not on the Midosuji side but on the north side facing Doshimachi Street and the south side facing Hiranocho Street. In front of this entrance, gas lamps always shine brightly. Upon taking the elevator from the first-floor hall that runs through the south and north wings to the 8th floor, you will be greeted by a relief proudly displaying the building's status as a registered tangible cultural property. Beyond that, there is a dignified and calm waiting area with retro sofas and old tableware and photos on display. Although there used to be a cloakroom here, it seems to be unused now. To the right, you will finally find the entrance to the restaurant. This restaurant, which opened in 1933 along with the completion of the building, was a popular spot offering authentic European cuisine and became a representative restaurant of the Modern City Osaka at the time. During my recent visit, I opted for the "Chef's Recommended Course" (12,100 yen, plus service charge). The tableware was rearranged as the multi-course meal was served, with knives and forks neatly lined up. The meal began with a dish of fresh celery, a specialty that has been served since the restaurant's opening in 1933. The celery, grown from seeds imported from California by the then chairman of Osaka Gas, Naokata Kataoka, is seasoned with table salt at the table. Following that was an amuse-bouche of carrot mousse with champagne jelly, delicately sweet with a strong carrot flavor. The appetizer featured a combination of lobster and white asparagus with a rich béchamel sauce, served with a rare veal cut called "Ris de Veau." The soup course consisted of a creamy spring cabbage soup served in elegant soup cups. The bread, made of whole wheat and walnuts, was accompanied by butter served individually on silver plates. The fish course was a pan-fried rockfish with deep-fried wild vegetables and tomato sauce. The dish was followed by a refreshing orange sherbet palate cleanser. The main course was a steak of Japanese beef fillet with spring vegetables and red wine sauce. The thick fillet was cooked to medium doneness and served with a rich sauce and garnished with burdock and potatoes. The meal was concluded with a dessert of seasonal fruits.

I visited before and today I had moussaka. This dish is only available during lunchtime, so I came specifically for the moussaka. It's a Greek dish with various vegetables and meat in a special demi-glace sauce, and it was incredibly delicious. The potatoes around the dish were also really good. I finished with a pudding, making it a very elegant lunchtime that left me completely satisfied. Next time, I want to try the popular curry. Thank you for the meal.
